A/N Just a little disclaimer that may be obvious but still. I do not own Glee, Flash, I do not know personally anyone mentioned. This is purely a fiction exercise. Also because English is not my native language you may have to excuse some mistakes I may write. That being said I hope you enjoy it.
A/N We're back to the present! They're back! In good new 2021. But without Covid here, no one deserves more of that in their lives… This is fiction after all. :)
You return from the kitchen with your most beloved chocolate cake and tea for your guests.
"I'm so happy you two managed to come here! And finally together. I mean, Kevin we see regularly, but you dear Dianna…" You grin and then add a pout, "too bad Max couldn't come as well."
"Max has been busy, uh? Last time I heard he was shooting somewhere in… Georgia?" Dianna smiles looking at Kevin.
Kevin nods, "Yeah, that's it. New series. Major role. Really cool. And, oh, this chocolate cake of yours keeps getting better and better!" He smiles taking a giant piece to his mouth.
You laugh, "always aiming to please."
Dianna is looking at some photographs on the wall with a smile on her face. She stops to look at a specific picture. "God, it's been nine years but it feels like yesterday..."
Kevin looks up to see what she is referring to. "Oh... That photo is a masterpiece and a piece of history. Hahah! Good times, indeed." He laughs loudly.
You approach Dianna and you roll your eyes amused when you look at the picture she mentioned. "That was embarrassing. Very embarrassing. Jeez." You giggle.
Kevin squeaks, "Ouch! Are you calling me embarrassing?"
You laugh loudly. "Come on, Kevin, it's all sorts of embarrassing. You and me kissing Grant's cheeks." You shake your head with a smile. "And then Grant just goes and tweets this. It was a turmoil. Oh, the youth being silly..."
They laugh loudly and Dianna smiles at you. "Yeah, you and Grant being friends or pretending to be friends when all you could do was drool over each other."
You shake your head amused. "We were friends, despite what you all thought at the time. We just hooked up three days after that picture."
They laugh loudly. "Three days? Hahahha! Cause that's a lifetime." Kevin jokes.
Dianna keeps smiling. "I'll never forget the sparks and fireworks I saw coming out of yours and Grant's eyes long before this photo. I swear I have never even seen anything like that again in my life. Jeez."
You roll your eyes slightly blushing. "Ahhh that's definitely an overstatement."
She smiles, "Overstatement? More like understatement. Really, these pictures have sparks and fireworks all over them. I love it."
Kevin giggles, "And come on, who even has all those photos hanging on their living room wall?"
You all laugh and Dianna pouts touched. "Look at the happiness through all this. This is your house in Florida if I remember correctly, right? And here you both during the Catching Fire shooting. Grant's dream. And all of this... Family, awards, vacations... God, I loved your wedding."
"Seriously, Di, are you gonna go through all of that?" Kevin laughs.
She grins. "Of course." She then looks at you, "Who said to you at the time that you'd make the most gorgeous couple? Even at the beginning when you were just ranting he had a girlfriend and you liked him just a friend. Really?! Hahahha!" She giggles amused at you.
You roll your eyes again a little flushed. "Oh well..."
"Still blushing... Hahahah! Seriously, I love it." Dianna hugs you. "So happy we still keep in touch."
You nod smiling. "Yeah, me too. Even though sometimes it's not easy with all the different schedules..."
Dianna nods, "Hey, have you finished the shooting of the movie you were working on? The one of the crazy 20's?"
You nod smiling happily. "That one? Yep, finished, almost three months ago. It's in post production now. Grant and I need some vacations now. Like seriously right now." You say eagerly.
They laugh and Dianna asks, "So, where's your dear husband? Still in Canada?"
You nod with a sigh. "Yep, coming home tomorrow. Ahhhhhh! One day to go." You exclaim desperately.
They laugh and Dianna shakes her head. "Really? Nine years of relationship, over five of marriage and it's like we're back in good old 2012 with the sighing and teasing and cheesy stuff. Hahahah!"
Kevin raises his hand, "Hey, and don't forget they know each other since Grant was born!"
Dianna takes her hands to her head, "God! I didn't even remember that. Seriously, two of a kind! Hahah!"
You shrug giggling. "Fools tend to attract other fools, you know..."
As you all laugh loudly, someone else appears in the room.
He's not very happy and rubs his sleepy eyes with his hands. "Mom...?"
"Ohhh, baby!" You run to the child and you pick him up in your arms. "So sorry we wake you with all the noise." You kiss tenderly his cheek and he kisses you back resting his head on your shoulder. "Oh, we interrupted your nap, didn't we? Come here." You take him to the couch and sit him on your lap. "You remember Dianna, right? Mom and Dad's friend. And Kevin, of course."
The boy nods with a smile, "Hello."
Dianna takes her hand to her forehead. "Oh god, he's so adorable and has grown so much. He's what now? Five?"
You grin, "Yes, six later this year."
Dianna smiles moved. "Jeez, he's like a perfect mix of you two. So lovely and pretty."
Kevin smiles to the boy. "Hey, who gave you that kick ass t-shirt?" And he immediately turns to you, "Please tell me it wasn't Grant…" Kevin pouts like he's afraid to know the answer.
You shrug, rolling your eyes amused, "Duh! What do you think?"
A smile forms on the child's face. "Dad did! Cause it's dad here, see?" He tries to show them more clearly the image on the front and Dianna and Kevin giggle amused. Your son grins happily at the Flash character on his t-shirt. With his father's face on it.
Kevin laughs, "God, you are right, and you've always been right. Grant is indeed a fool. Hahahah!"
You sigh deeply with a smile. "Yep, once a fool, forever a fool. Imagine my work trying to explain him that his dad is not really a superhero, he just plays one…"
"It's his job, mom, being a superhero." The boy says proudly and happily.
You shrug rolling your eyes. "That's what I have to deal with, yeah." Then you turn to your child smiling, "So what's mom's job, my dear?"
He smiles, "you're a painter. You draw and paint people's faces." He reaches his hand to your face. "Very cool too."
"Awwww" Dianna squeaks emotionally. "Seriously? Oh god, I can't cope."
Kevin smiles amused and extends his hand to him. "Hey, wanna play a bit with those great cars you have?"
He opens his eyes excitedly, "Like last time and you made them really fast?"
Kevin laughs. "Exactly. Shall we?"
The boy looks at you asking for your permission. You smile, "Sure, go with Kevin, just behave, ok? The same applies to you, Kev!"You joke.
They leave all joyful to the backyard and you look at Dianna with a shy smile, "Oh well…"
Dianna is looking at you smiling tenderly. "He's so sweet. How does he cope with Grant's time away shooting?"
"He thinks his dad is away being a superhero." You giggle. "Now seriously, we always try to spend the most time possible together. If I'm free of work and Grant is shooting, we go see him and stay with him for some time. If it's the other way around Grant brings him where I'm shooting for a visit. If we're both working, he comes sometimes with me, sometimes with Grant, with a little help, of course, and we manage. We try to balance and match both our schedules, try to spend the most time possible together here at home. Fortunately I can pick what I want to work on… So…"
"That is really great. And yeah, with all those awards you can definitely pick what you want to work on." She giggles.
You smile. "When you love what you do…"
Dianna nods. "Totally. I'll be starting on a new project soon. Really excited too." She goes on talking to you about her work and you can see her eyes glow.
You keep talking catching up with each other's lives. It's has been a year since you had been together. As for Kevin you meet him regularly as he lives close by and you use to hang with his family too.
Some time after Kevin returns with your son, who runs to you. "Mom, you should have seen how fast the cars were." He smiles happily.
You smile at him. "Sure, fast. Kevin is the expert, uh?"
Kevin laughs, "I'm quite sure when it comes to 'fast' I'm not the expert…" And you all burst into laughter.
"Anyway, loved this but I need to get back. Making dinner tonight for the family!" He grins.
"Yeah, we need another dinner of yours Kevin." You laugh.
Dianna rolls her eyes, "Let me guess, it's just barbecue…"
You all laugh and you nod, "Obviously."
"So, I'm taking his ride and go too, BUT, girlfriend, I'm staying for a month at least so we'll be meeting soon again," Dianna winks at you.
You smile, "Of course, we'll make a dinner or something when Grant is here. Kevin can just be the king of barbecue. Hahah!"
Kevin nods smiling, "Yeah totally right. Anyway, Rita wanted to talk to you about I don't know what, recipes of some kind, she'll probably call you."
You nod, "Sure, it's probably the red fruits pie. Anyway, send my kisses to her and little Lily!"
Kevin nods, "Will do. Think we can add a little karaoke after that dinner?"
You all burst into laughter loudly.
"HAHAHAH, karaoke! God. Definitely no!" You exclaim.
Dianna grins, "Definitely yes, will never forget that song you and Grant shared that one time at your birthday, thanks to our amazing conniving scheme. Brilliant!"
With some more laughs you all say goodbye and they leave.
You look at your son smiling, "So, ready for some snack, big boy?"
He nods grinning, "Yes, those sandwiches you make! Then we play with the cars, ok?"
You giggle amused, "Yeah, the cars again. And we'll read too. That is also important. Come on, sweetheart."
