Budget

"Ugh!" Stacie groaned as she slammed her bag on the kitchen counter once she entered the apartment, she shares with Beca.

"Geez what did the counter do to you?" Beca asked entering the kitchen.

"Nothing it's just I was at the mall and apparently my cards are all locked, but I didn't report anything to cause that." Stacie said resting her head on her hands.

Beca nodded and walked towards the counter placing her plate down and taking a sip of her juice.

"Yeah, I know." Beca said nonchalantly.

Stacie snapped her head up towards her best friend "How would you know?"

Beca shrugged and turned to face her "Because I'm the one who locked them."

Stacie slammed her hands on the counter "YOU DID WHAT!?" Stacie shouted.

Beca raised her hands up "Ok first off, relax. Second, I locked them. I logged into your account and locked your two credit cards and debit card."

"Why would you do that!?" Stacie asked loudly.

"Stace, you spend way too much money on clothes and other useless stuff. Have you even seen your bank statement? Your budget is all out of whack." Beca answered.

"My budget is not out of whack Mitchell." Stacie said defensively crossing her arms across her chest.

"Oh really?" Beca asked raising her brow.

"Yes really." Stacie answered.

"Alright let's take a look then, shall we?" Beca asked pulling out a piece of paper from an envelope.

Stacie snatched the paper away and scanned it quickly "You went through my mail?"

Beca scratched her head "Yes and no. I saw a letter from the bank and thought it was mine since I was expecting a letter but turns out it was your statement."

"So, what you just decided to lock my cards without telling me?" Stacie asked.

"Well technically they sent you a notification." Beca said.

Stacie checked her bank app and saw that they had indeed sent a notification almost two hours ago around the same time she arrived at the mall.

"Plus, it wasn't hard to get into your account I mean you have the same username for everything, and your password is both our birthdays, cute password by the way." Beca said with a chuckle.

"It's an easy thing to remember. That still doesn't make it right!" Stacie exclaimed.

"Love, you literally spent $450 last week on a backpack. A freaking backpack dude." Beca said in a deadpan tone.

"It was a special edition." Stacie argued.

"How often do you use backpacks? How about the $250 you spent on those heels the day after you bought a different pair?" Beca asked raising a brow.

"I really liked how they looked." Stacie shot back "What are you trying to get at?"

"That you literally spend money on crap you don't need. I'm just trying to help you budget better." Beca answered.

"Oh, like you don't spend money?" Stacie asked.

Beca chuckled "Stace, everyone knows that I only spend money on food and gas. I've had the same headphones for three years, same music equipment for four years and we all know how I dress." Beca said pointing to her current outfit that consisted of a hoodie and sweats "I literally can buy a whole outfit with $75."

"So, we all have our hobbies and mine's fashion." Stacie said.

"More like blowing money." Beca mumbled.

"Ok then let's see your budget." Stacie said.

"Fine." Beca said as she opened up her banking app "Here, look what it reads." She said handing it over.

Stacie grabbed it and scanned it over. She saw the breakdown and how it said "Congratulations, you spend $750 less then you deposit monthly."

She slid the phone back "Well congratulations." She mumbled.

"Stace I'm just trying to help." Beca said.

"If I have the money, I might as well spend it." Stacie said.

Beca sighed "Yeah but you have to be smart about it. Just because we have the money doesn't mean we can't invest and save up. I just don't want you to put yourself in a bad spot."

"I guess you're right." Stacie sighed.

"Well duh, of course I am." Beca joked.

Stacie smiled "So miss accountant, what do you propose?"

Beca faked like she was wearing glasses by pushing them up "Well we start by setting a budget and only buying what we absolutely need." She said in a professional tone.

"That sounds tough." Stacie said.

"No worries, here at Mitchell financial we specialize in being by our clients side each step of the way." Beca said with a reassuring nod and smile.

Stacie cracked a laugh "Alright you goof I can't take you serious."

"Why miss Conrad my sincere apologies." Beca said.

Stacie gave Beca a nudge "Fine I'll start budgeting as long as you help me."

"Of course. Now let's start with your shopping." Beca smirked.
