"Kagome," I start as we step into our room, tugging her over to the couch to sit. She peers at me curiously, her hands slipping into mine. "These past few months have been more than I ever hoped for. I..." I trail off, eyes sliding off to the side as I swallow down my nerves. Almost a millennia old, and it has only ever been this woman to incite these feelings within me.

"Sess, talk to me? It's okay, whatever it is." she tells me, tilting her head to catch my gaze.

Nodding mutely, I take a deep breath before trying again. "Kagome, I love you." She inhales sharply, her grip tightening on my hands. "In my entire life, never have I felt as I feel about you. You... you are my light. My every thought, hope, desire- they all come back to you. I have not made secret what my hopes for our courtship would be, and I would like to ask you now. Will you be my mate?" My eyes search hers, watching as her cobalt pools well with tears before she launches herself at me. Her head tucking itself into the crook of my neck as her arms wrap around me tightly.

"Yes. Yes I will, of course I will." she murmurs, pressing kisses to my throat as I feel her tears slide down my skin. At her answer, my own arms wind around her and hold her to me tightly, burying my nose in her hair.

"Aishiteru, Kagome." I whisper, holding her like a life line.

"Aishiteru, Sesshoumaru." I hear her reply. I pull back enough to tilt her chin up to me and capture her lips, kissing her soundly, pouring everything into this single kiss. When we part, she nestles close to me again, nuzzling the exposed skin of my chest where my haori has come lose.

"There is one last thing I am required to do for our courtship. Then we may begin planning the ceremony." I tell her, shifting to pick her up and take her to our bed. She watches me as I put her down and walk over to my tansu, retrieving a small wrapped bundle. Padding back, I sit next to her and place the item on her lap.

"What's this?" she asks, hands slowly running over the black silk wrapping.

"Your mating gift." I answer, watching her fingers find the end of the wrapping and unveil the items within. At the last fold, she gasps and slams her hands back down into her lap, hiding it again.

"Sess. You didn't..." she breathes as her hand shakily flips open the last bit of silk, revealing twin tanto blades. One has a hilt of blue and black, the other of white and gold. Their sheathes are simple yet elegant, with the kanji for little bird, kotori, on the blue and black, and moon dog on the white and gold.

"Oh Kami. Sess. They're beautiful." She picks up the blue and black tanto and slowly slides it from its sheathe, revealing a sterling blade with bluish waves travelling along it from its crafting. She runs a finger down its length and gasps quietly. "It's you." Her eyes find mine again before looking back to the short blade. "It's your fang." Her voice is barely a whisper as tears silently streak down her face. "They're beautiful." She sheathes it again and looks to its twin, finding an identical blade.

"They are both from my fang, yes. They house my abilities, should you wish to use them, though they will not have quite the same power behind them as Bakusaiga. However, they are also capable of housing reiki. Your reiki. And are able to heal, using it. They can not revive, but so long as the person is still alive, each can heal nearly all wounds with reiki stored in them. You merely need to imbue them regularly." I explain, watching her expression shift from a warm, loving smile to a wide eyed shock as she processes what I've told her.

"I... I can give it my reiki... and it can..."

"Yes. It has a limit, but it will be able to hold a considerable amount of your power. As far as Totosai can tell, each blade should be able to heal even fatal wounds. The only ones it will likely be unable to heal are wounds made by cursed means, such as the monks former wind tunnel." I elaborate, reaching to run my fingers through her hair.

Gingerly, she sets the tantos aside before she climbs into my lap, her fingers running along my jaw before they thread into my hair. Her eyes dance over my features before she dips her head to kiss me.

"Every time I think I can't love you more, you go and do something like this. Thank you, koi." she murmurs against my lips before kissing me again.
