Chapter 52.
(Harry POV)
It was a great day so far. I finally done something I've been thinking about. I asked Martha the question I've been thinking of for a while now. And I did it. I asked Martha to marry me and she said Yes. And I was worried she would say no. But She didn't.
But I was heading down to the Hab. But no one was there.
Then My phone went. It was Owen.
"Owen where are you?" I said.
"Everyone but Gwen are here, I send you the location. We're querying 4 or 5 lifesigns definitely non-human," Owen said.
"On my way," I said. ending the call as I went for the Tardis after Grabbing myself a M9 and set the coordinates and then took off. But by the time I got there. The Tardis Sensors picked up an Explosion. Which activated the Tardis's Shields, As the klaxon on her Went Red too. Just like it would go to Red alert, on Star Trek Voyager. Then got hit by the shockwave which knocked the Tardis shields down by 9%.
Then I went for my M9, Phaser and sonic then grabbed my jacket and headed out. Then Saw the Builds there were 2 which got blew. But they were still standing.
Then Gwen and Rhys showed up.
"What happened?" Gwen said.
"No idea, Just got here 5 minutes ago. Then I got hit by a shockwave hitting the Tardis," I said.
"Did they make it," Gwen said.
"No idea, Come on, Let's try find them," I said as we headed in. "Jack," But nothing.
We kept looking till. "Harry Over here," Gwen said.
As we got over there and Rhys was checking for his pulse. "He's dead," Rhys said.
"You think," I said. As he woke up.
"Ah," Jack said.
"Jack, Easy," I said.
"He was dead, I checked his pulse, He was dead," Rhys said.
"Rhys, Shut up," I said.
"Jack, What has Happened?" Gwen said. "Where are the others?"
"What is he doing here?" Jack said.
"Look I was late, Ok, he gave me a lift, you ok?" Gwen said.
"Where is the others," I said.
"Toshiko, She went the other way," Jack said.
"You 2 get him out. I'll look for her," I said Heading off. "TOSH! TOSH! Where are you?" Then I heard a scream it was Tosh. "TOSH!" I shouted. As I finally found her. "Tosh, Hey, I'm here, Jack, I found her,"
"Guys, stop," I said.
"You're making it worse," Tosh said. "It's pushing down even more now, I think I've broken my arm,"
"We need more help, Where did the others go," I said.
"The other building," Tosh said.
"Jack, Come on," I said. As we ran over to the other building. "Ianto, Owen,"
"Ianto, Ianto," Jack said.
"Let check this way," I said as We found Him, "Ianto,"
As We cleared it and then helped him up.
"You ok," Jack said.
"My Should I think It's dislocated," Ianto said.
"Can you take this," I said.
"Yeah," Ianto said.
"Take a deep breath," Jack said Then put it back.
"Ow, Where are the others," Ianto said.
"We need your help get Tosh out," I said.
"Owen," Ianto said.
"No sign yet," Gwen said.
"If anything happens he can't repair himself," Ianto said.
"Gwen with me, Jack you and Ianto got help get Tosh out," I said.
Then Gwen and I went.
"Owen," I said.
"Where is he?" Gwen said.
"Come on," I said. Then we found him but there was a pile of Glass above us. Then Gwen was about to go over. "Gwen Watch it,"
Then Gwen goes over and starting clearing things of him then grabs his hands and pulls him clear. Just in time as the Glass fell.
"Owen, you okay," I said.
"Yeah," Owen said.
"Let's go help the others with Tosh," I said. As we headed out as we saw Jack, Ianto, Rhys and Tosh there. As Owen went over.
"You Ok?" Jack said.
"You all right," Owen said. "Tosh what happened?"
"Broken arm, Bruised ribs about an inch away from being crushed by a girder," Tosh said.
"You were lucky," Rhys said.
"We all were," Ianto said.
"Jack who's done this," I said.
"And where's the SUV," Ianto said.
"The Tardis is still there," I said. As Jack Vortex Beeped. as he opened it as John showed up. "Not him again,"
"Oh, deja vu, Or did I say that already?" John said. "Hey, team, Course there might be a few less of you by now, Don't know if you liked my little gift, Course you can't die, And with all that life, All that time, you can't spare any for me, Oh, Say hi to the family," As John brought someone else in.
"No, It can't be," Jack said.
"Been a while since you've seen your brother eh, Jack," John said.
"Gray," Jack said.
"Ok here's what's going to happen, Everything you love, Everything you treasure will die, I'm going to tear your world apart, Captain Jack Harkness piece by piece, Starting now, Maybe now you'll wanna spend some time with me," John said as he vanished.
"This Bastard wants a fight, he's got one," I said.
"Bastard John taken our SUV," Owen said.
"He's driven it back to Torchwood," Ianto said.
"I'm getting readings of rift activity all over the city, Major Rift flares at St Helen's Hospital, The Police Headquarters and the Central IT server station," Tosh said.
"Rhys, Drop Owen at the hospital, Tosh Ianto Cover the Central server building, Gwen The Police Station, Harry Take me to Torchwood in yours," Jack said.
"These are traps," Tosh said.
"So be careful, You know what he's capable of," Jack said. As We got into my Tardis and took off For Torchwood.
"Jack, You need to watch yourself," I said.
"I'll be fine, Once you drop me off go Help the others," Jack said.
As we landed and he left. And I left to Meet up with Ianto and Tosh. And then headed out as They were about to enter.
"Hey," I said.
"Where's Jack," Tosh said.
"At the Hab," I said.
"How did you get here so quick," Ianto said.
"Tardis, Come on," I said. As I used my Sonic on her Making her Vanish.
Then we headed in and then went to the Server.
"Harry, Where are you," Gwen said.
"With Ianto and Tosh, At the Server building, No sign of Rift activity yet, How's things at the Station," I said.
"Weevils, Killed the 4 most sensor officers," Gwen said.
"That was a targeted attack them Stay there, Gwen, We'll deal with the Server," I said.
"This Building houses servers for the Military, Police, NHS, Even looks after the server system for the nuclear station at Turnmill," Tosh said.
"What problem did they report?" Ianto said.
"Ghosts in these Server stacks," Tosh said.
"How's the Arm?" I said.
"Owen gave me industrial strength painkillers, seems to be doing the trick," Tosh said.
As We came to the last one as Ianto and Tosh turned left I turned right. "Tosh Ianto," I said.
"Devils, Blasphemers, Pray to your heathen God, While in the Lord's name we cast you out," as they came closer.
"Cast this," I said As We shot them dead.
"There we are then," Ianto said.
"Sorted," Tosh said.
"Good, Tosh, Get to Work, Ianto, Cover her," I said heading out. "Owen, Status,"
"We've got some activity in the basement," Owen said.
"Gwen need backup there," I said.
"Could use with some yeah," Gwen said.
"Okay, I'm on my way," I said.
As I was my Vortex and beamed close to the Police station then Headed in.
"Gwen," I said.
"Who are you?" A guy said.
"Andy stop his with me," Gwen said.
"Harry It's Owen," Owen said.
"What's your status?" I said.
"All taken care of," Owen said.
"Stay there, Owen, We have no idea what is coming next," I said.
"Got it," Owen said.
"Attention Torchwood Employees," John said. "Evening all, Now stop what you're doing,"
"Jack, Are you okay," I said.
"Jack can't come to the comms right now, But if you leave a message I'll be sure and pass it along," John said.
"Listen to me John, You do anything And you will regret the day you ever met us," I said.
"Wrong statement what you should be asking what am I about to do to you?" John said.
"Put Jack on Right now," Ianto said.
"Eye Candy," John said. "That was so masterful, So bossy so basically powerless, Get up to the roofs of your building quickly now, Spit spot,"
"Oh I am so going to kill you," I said. "Guys do it,"
"Why?" Owen said.
"Cos if you don't, You'll miss all the fun," John said. "Hold on a minute Do I mean fun or do I mean Carnage,"
As Gwen and I ran upstairs to the roof.
"Now Cardiff, isn't it pretty," John said. "doesn't it twinkle so much take a good look, Remember this, because it all goes so quick," AS a bomb went off.
"Oh my god," Gwen said. As 3 more went off.
"Gwen?" Andy said.
"Oh God," Gwen said.
"What do we do," Andy said.
"Get down there, Keep everyone calm tell them to get every officer in, Now," I said. "Jack, Jack, Jack Can you hear me? Tosh,"
"I'm detecting a huge rift flare over at the castle," Tosh said. "It's been generated by the rift manipulator at Torchwood,"
"Tosh, Ianto Owen, You alright," I said.
"Yeah we're fine," Tosh said.
"Still here," Ianto said.
"Me too," Owen said.
"Good, Now listen to me, Tosh do we have the scale of damage on the city," I said.
"15 major Explosions at strategic points across the city, There's currently a surge in traffic trying to leave the city, but the Explosions have cut off all major routes in and out, Landlines, Mobile phones, and It networks all down, Tv and Radio off air, He's completely crippled us Harry," Tosh said.
"Shit," I said.
"Not wanting to be the harbinger of doom but the systems which serve the nuclear plant have all gone offline," Ianto said.
"Tosh, Ianto, You have to stabilise the nuclear power station make that a priority," I said.
"Owen What's it like at the hospital," Gwen said.
"Lost all power," Owen said. "The Backup generators gave out in the blast, Every single machine in this hospital is down, It's a disaster,"
"Ok, All of you listen to me right now, We're gonna put this city back together, We're gonna find Jack and we're gonna punish John, Now All of you need to be careful, That means you too, Owen," I said. "Gwen Get down there and get everyone ready, Who knows what coming next,"
Then We went down as Gwen was starting.
"This was a targeted attacked designed to cause maximum panic, Usual emergency procedures won't cover what's happened here, This is where we find out how good we really are, Cover the whole city, Knock on Doors, check on people, Tell people that they are safe and that it is being dealt with, Get out there and do your jobs," Gwen said.
"Bloody impressive, man," Rhys said.
"She is that, yeah, Lucky sod," Andy said.
"Rhys, Andy stay here and help her, Tosh, Ianto how we doing," I said.
"We can't do anything from here, We need to restart the Turnmill servers," Tosh said.
"It's too far away from here Tosh, I can't make it there," I said. "What else is there?"
"Then the reactor goes into meltdown," Tosh said.
"Shit, Do what you can," I said.

"Harry, I've got a rift alert from inside the Hab, Mirroring the pattern from earlier when Jack Disappeared," Tosh said.
"D'you think it could be him?" Gwen said.
"I can't check it out, I've got to get the Turnmill servers back online," Tosh said.
"Tosh I can't leave the Police station," Gwen said.
"Yes you can, Gwen, If that's Jack then he is going to need all the help he can get, Go," I said. Then I got out and called the Tardis back and set the coordinates for the Hab.
Then I headed in as John was there with Gwen's gun pointed at him.
"Why should we trust you?" I said.
"They were separated as children," John said. "Gray was Abducted, When I found him He was chained to the ruins of a city on the Bedlam Outlands, Surrounded by corpses, He was the only one left, The creatures had long since gone, Dunno how long he'd been there, He thought I was the rescuing hero, So It took me too long to realise he'd learned terrible things watching those creatures, He let me trust him, Argh, The molecules are unbonding, just like he promised, Oh god, see free man, Apparently, I Didn't have to come back here, I could've run,"
"You find Jack I'll let you live but you'd better be quick," Gwen said.
"Fine, Toshiko, I need you to run a trace for an etheric particle signal NME Transmitting at 200 Betacycles," John said.
"Gwen, Harry, Where are you? What's he doing? Where's Jack," Tosh said.
"Trace the signal we'll find him," John said.
"Tosh, Do it, Gwen and I have him covered," I said.
"No signals Even vaguely resembling that," Tosh said.
"There must be, That Transmitter's guaranteed for 5 millennia, Through 3 permalayers it has to still be transmitting," John said. "If not we'll never find him, He'll be buried forever,"
Then a Piercing tine sounds.
"What the hell is that?" Gwen said.
"What is doing that?" I said. Then I shut it off.
"There's weevils loose in the lower corridors," Gwen said.
"How did they get out," I said.
"It's Gray, He's here," John said.
"Get something For that wrist," I said.
"Gray said he was going to take Jack's life destroy it from the inside out," John said.
"Then that could be a beginning," I said.
"Harry, Owen Gwen Can you hear me," Ianto said.
"Ianto what is it?" I said.
"The streets are flooded with weevils, They came out of nowhere, There's no chance we'll get to the Nuclear power station in time," Ianto said.
"Owen, Can you stay do that king of the Weevils thing," I said.
"You bet I Can," Owen said.
"Good, Tosh, Ianto get back to the Hab," I said.
"I am telling you I have run every san possible there is no signal traceable," Gwen said.
"Then try it again it's got to be there," John said.
"Gwen, John, we got company," I said. Then Ianto and Tosh shot them down. "Am I glad to see you 2," Ianto aimed at John. "Ianto Put it down,"
"Get those weevils down the vault before they recover," Tosh said.
"It takes more than a gun shot wound to stop them," I said. "Tosh, Can you help Owen from here,"
"Yes," Tosh said.
"Good, I've give them a hand," I said as we got the Weevils into the cells then to doors closed.
"Whoa, What's Happening Tosh," Gwen said. "My comms are dead,"
"Gwen," John said.
"Gray, That's enough now, Where's Jack," I said.
"His Life's mine now," Gray said.
Then He gone. "Ianto, These cells are they deadlock sealed,"
"No Why?" Ianto said.
"Got it," I said getting my Sonic and open the cell I was in then Got out and opened up Ianto, Gwen and John as they got out and closed them.
"How," Gwen said.
"Sonic Screwdriver, Opens anything but a deadlock seal," I said. "Tosh, Can you hear me," But nothing. "Tosh, Owen Have you heard from Tosh,"
"Harry, Tosh was talking to me then just stopped, I don't know what is happening," Owen said.
"Tosh You hear me, Tosh Speak to me," I said.
"I'm here, I'm fine just sorting out another painkiller," Tosh said.
"Come on we need to get up there," I said.
As we were heading for the control area.
"Owen," Tosh said.
"What's the matter," Owen said.
"There's no way to stop the meltdown, It's too for gone," Tosh said.
"Tosh, Talk Owen through how to contain it," I said.
"The only option is to vent the flow channels internally," Tosh said.
"Vent them where," Owen said.
"The Are you're in is the containment Building Harry said," Tosh said.
"Yeah," Owen said.
"You need to set up a time delay programme, Channel the fuel into that bunker and instigate permanent lockdown," Tosh said. "Seal the building and the meltdown will be contained within, and Obviously remember to get out,"
"Yeah I think I can remember that bit," Owen said.
Then I got up there.
"Hey, You miss me," Jack said.
"Jack," I said. "Thank god,"
"Thought we lost you," Ianto said.
"Never," Jack said.
"Jack where is Gray?" I said.
"I know It's done," Jack said.
As we headed out and back to the Hab.
"Tosh," Jack said.
"Tosh, Where are you," I said. Then saw the blood. "Jack," As I headed into the Med bay. "Tosh," As I saw her heading over. "Tosh hey, speak to me,"
"The Nuclear plant at Turnmill," Ianto said.
"Owen's in there," I said.
"Sealed in Rerouted to blast, I couldn't save him," Tosh said.
"Tosh, There you go," Gwen said.
"Talk to me Tosh, Come on stay with us," I said.
Then Tosh was gone.
It been at least a day since then as I was with Jack.
"My whole life, I was looking for him," Jack said. "Now I have to lose him all over again,"
"You cryo freeze him and then what, Wake him up in a 100 years and he's miraculously better," John said. "Cos that's not gonna happen, Maybe killing him would be the release he needs,"
"There's been enough Death," I said.
"You didn't struggle, When I buried you, Like you were allowing it," John said.
"It was my Penance," Jack said.
"It's not your fault," John said.
"Need a hand with those rift predictions?" Jack said.
"Lot of this planet I haven't seen, You like it so much thought I might take a look, Maybe see you around," John said. Then he was gone as we started to pack up Owen and Tosh's Things.
"Have you told Martha yet," Jack said.
"No," I said. "It can wait till this is all done,"
Then There was a Video on Tosh sign out thing.
"Ok, So if you're seeing this I guess it means, I'm well dead," Tosh said. "Hope it was impressive, Not crossing the road or an incident with a toaster, I just wanted to say It's ok, It really is, Jack you saved me, You showed me all the wonders of the universe and all those possibilities, and I wouldn't have missed to for the world Thank you, Harry take care of Martha, Even I can see how cute you 2 are together, And Owen You never knew, I love you, All of you and, I hope I did good," Then She was gone.
"Now we go on," I said.
"I don't think I can not after this," Gwen said.
"You can, we all can, The End is where we start from," Jack said.
"I need to go talk to someone," I said. As I left and headed to Martha's Place where she was waiting for me.
"What happened?" Martha said.
"Tosh and Owen are Dead," I said.
"How," Martha said Pulling my next to her as we sat down on the sofa.
"Owen was fixing the Server at the Turnmill Power station. It was having meltdown and he had to Vent the Fuel into the Containment building, But there was a power surge and he was sealed in. Tosh got Shot. We only found her after we got back to the Control room Tosh was in the Medbay. It was already to bad," I said.
"What now," Martha said.
"I'll be in the Tardis for a bit," I said.
"No, You're staying here with me," Martha said. Pulling me closer to her.
"I love you, Martha," I said.
"Love you too, Harry," Martha said.
