A/N Just a little disclaimer that may be obvious but still. I do not own Glee, Flash, I do not know personally anyone mentioned. This is purely a fiction exercise. Also because English is not my native language you may have to excuse some mistakes I may write. That being said I hope you enjoy it.

A/N We're back to the present! They're back! In good new 2021. But without Covid here, no one deserves more of that in their lives… This is fiction after all. :)

Meanwhile in Florida...

Your mother and father are having dinner at home.

"So, they are all coming next week. Can't wait to see our grandchild. He has grown so much. We need to get things prepared." You mother says with a smile.

Your father has a serious expression on his face. "Yes, we do."

"You're worried about something, what is it?"

"You know what. Our daughter. And Grant."

"What about them?" Your mother frowns.

"I don't know, a year ago when they came here in the summer, Grant and her were not themselves. I can tell something was not right."

"What do you mean? They seemed fine to me. As well as over Christmas."

"Were they? Come on, Grant is an actor and can pretend and act whatever he wants, and our daughter knows better than most how to hide her feelings. They were not ok. Something happened. I sincerely hope he didn't do anything he shouldn't…" You father's expression hardens.

"Oh please, don't start with those foolish, suspicious things. He loves her. That is just so obvious."

"Does he? Career wise, he gets to do whatever he wants. Who's the one always making the sacrifice? She is. Why is his work more important than hers?" Your father is not happy.

Your mother shrugs. "It's only natural she wants to spend more time with their child."

"The child is as much his as it is hers. Shouldn't he be spending time with his own son, too? He gets to spend all that time in another country, shooting season after season being the main character of that series and once in a while also some lame movie. For the last years, she worked in what? One maybe two feature movies per year at the very most. And not for lack of offers. On the contrary. She just rejects most of them."

"She already worked in a big one this year, in January and February. Besides she also teaches in LA." Your mother states.

"She has much more potential and you know it. She's always getting offers from the major studios and productions. And she's recognized for it. He got what? A golden globe six years ago, pure luck if you ask me, and some of those silly things, teen awards or whatever. Who got the two Oscars standing in their living room? The Baftas, the whatever other multiple makeup awards? She did."

Your mother sighs. "I love it that you are so proud of our daughter, I am too, but you can't blame Grant for doing his work. You said so yourself, he's the lead actor in a successful tv series, that's something big too."

"You always had a soft spot for him, I know. But he's so consumed by his work that he probably doesn't even have the time to be with her properly. Or worse…", he smirks. "Come on, our grandchild is five years old already. We both know she wants more kids and yet..."

"That's something only they know and can decide. Please, don't do or say anything to them that you may regret later."

"Maybe, but I'll be watching carefully." He states seriously. "I was not kidding all those times I said I wouldn't let him hurt her."

Your mother sighs deeply and shakes her head. "Please, just control yourself. I don't want any unnecessary tension while they're here."

"We'll see."

Meanwhile in Norfolk...

"Ah, can't wait to go to Florida and have the family all together again." Grant's mother smiles happily.

"Yeah, it's not easy having two kids on the other side of the country… Thankfully we still have Gracie here in the same city," His father grins.

"Yeah, thankfully, but it just pains my heart that our two grandchildren are so far away. I mean every time we see them they have already grown some much. I'd love to see them grow day by day, to have the opportunity of being in their lives much more closely…"

"I feel you. Those little two are just so precious. I mean… Our little girl is the most sweet adorable kid, totally daddy's girl, Tyler's eyes almost glow when he looks at her. And our little boy… Everyday I think how Grant and our dear daughter-in-law ended up together after being friends when they were babies and then finding each other after twenty years… It's quite something."

"That is something I'll never understand but always be grateful for," His mother smiles tenderly. "You know she's been his rock from the very beginning. Always supporting him in every way. I'm quite sure he wouldn't be where is now without her. And the way he loves her, he practically worships her."

Grant's father sighs. "You are right. Anyway, last year I don't know… I got the feeling they were a bit strange… In the summer and even at Christmas…"

"I got that feeling too but on the other hand they seemed so close and loving as always…"

"And yet, they were not themselves."

"Do you think something happened and they were just pretending to be ok?" His mother frowns.

"I don't know… Maybe it was my father passing away… And they were still grieving. But she seemed even more troubled than Grant so… I don't know. "

"Don't forget that her grandmother is seriously ill…" His mother reminds.

"Yeah, maybe that's it and we are imagining things… I sincerely hope so."

"I'll call Grant now." His mother picks the phone and dials Grant's number.

Grant picks up the phone. "Mom!"

"Hey, son. How are you all?"

"Fine, just fine. We just wrapped everything here and not long till I get home. God, how I miss them." He sighs. "Well, I miss you all too, of course." He giggles. "Not long too till we are together."

She smiles. "Yeah, can't wait to have us all reunited."

"Me too, me too. Actually… Uh… Well…" He sighs, trying hard not to say more than he should. "Yeah, it will be great." He says hastily.

His mother frown a bit. "Sure? You seemed a little hesitant now."

"Nah, it's all good." He tries to sound reassuring.

"Ok…" She's still a bit apprehensive.

"Well, mom I gotta go, but we'll talk later, ok?"

"Ok… Love you, take care."

"Love you too." Grant hangs up.

His mother looks at his father, "now that was bit strange."

"What do you mean?"

"It seemed like he was hiding something… And then he just abruptly finished the call… Oh well, guess we'll have to wait and see… I hope it's nothing serious…" She smirks.
