Nova entered the rooms she had once slept in before and noticed that the furniture was the same, but the paintings that had been in her apartment now decorated the walls. Her jewelry box sat on the dresser and as she wandered into the closet she frowned, seeing the two chests that her father had brought her in the past and the shelves and racks were full of her clothing and shoes. She opened one of the chests and saw that the clothes were still inside, carefully folded the way they had been the last day she had been in the castle.
"What do I do if I don't get to go back?" She murmured sadly, removing the chain from around her ribs as she felt Sesshomaru behind her as she rubbed her swollen belly.
"You readjust. If you wish to return to working like before, though you will still have some duties as the Lady of the West. Once the pups are born, if you wish to remain home, wish for a governess to live in house, or return to working, your choice will be supported."
"Okay," Nova whispered before she heard his phone ding and he pulled it out to look at the screen.
"It's time," he frowned before pain erupted from her head, forcing her to her knees. "Nova..."
Whatever he was going to say fell away to a deep groan and a thud let her know that he had fallen to his knees. Images started flooding through her head of her childhood but every thing seemed different. She could remember being hanyou, being taught how to properly control her energy, a necklace with a seal to hide her characteristics whenever she went out. Touran coming by often, visits to Japan with her father for seasonal gatherings and business meetings, learning of the past and who she was and what she would grow to become. Moving to Japan once she graduated high school early, getting Khendon after her mother died from cancer, before the past couple years were what she had already known before the pain disappeared and she found herself curled up on her side having been holding her head.
"Are you well, mate?"
Hands went to her shoulders and helped her sit up slowly and she noticed that his breathing was faster, almost in sync with her own heavy breaths. She forced her eyes open, her body sudden feeling heavy as she let the Inuyoukai before her support her body. She focused on Sesshomaru and saw the familiar look that he had given her constantly in the past.
"I don't... my mind is reeling... Kagome... oh, she must be freaking out..."
"Are you okay to move?"
"Probably not," she muttered as he helped her to her feet and she rubbed the frantic nudging from inside her.
He pulled off his concealment ring and slid it into his pocket before pulling her into his arms. Nova wrapped her arms around his neck as he walked over to the balcony and summoned his energy around them to quickly return to the shrine. As they touched down, Nova noticed Aiko, Souta, and her grandfather standing in the doorway to the well house and sobbing could be heard from inside.
"Aunt Aiko?" Nova whispered softly as she was set on her feet and walked closer.
"Nova," Aiko greeted sadly. "The well closed."
"I'll talk with her, go ahead and go back inside," Nova touched her arm before moving past them to inside the well house to hear sobbing from inside the well. Jumping into the well, she saw Kagome curled into a ball at its bottom as she cried. "Kagome."
"Nova... you're here...? Why...?" Kagome frowned as she tried to stop crying.
"The timelines have merged, the well won't open again," Nova whispered as she pulled one of her arms around her shoulder and jumped out of the well with her.
"What do you mean?" Kagome frowned as Sesshomaru came into the well house and sat on the top step.
"The Shikon Miko is no longer needed in the feudal era so time righted itself. The well couldn't have remained open forever otherwise time could have unraveled," she spoke as she sat on the bottom step beside her cousin.
"But my friends...? Inuyasha had asked me to marry him..."
"That is still possible, Miko," Sesshomaru spoke. "He has waited all these years."
"What?"
"Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's mother had come by quite often before I found myself in the past," Nova nodded. "He did always seem a little sad but refused to talk about it. Long distance relationship was his excuse."
"What about Shippou? Sango and Miroku? Sesshomaru, what about Rin?"
"Shippou currently is CEO of the American division of Takiyama Cooperation," Sesshomaru answered. "As for the slayer and monk, they had rebuilt her village and had three children. Their bloodline lives strongly to this day. As for Rin, she grew up and married the slayer boy, Kohaku and had two children of her own. They lived well. Their resting places are at the private residence you had once visited in the past."
"Oh... Nova, why are you here...? I thought...?"
"Being pregnant, I required constant feedings from Sesshomaru's energy otherwise I would start feeling the pain of the distance. Too long and it could have harmed the pups. I had gone to him twice before the final battle but it had been ordered that if I required another before the battle ended to be sent through the well. That and we did not know if I would have been brought back like you once the well closed."
"You knew it would?"
"No, but we both had our theories. It made sense though for time to be able to merge once more," Nova sighed.
"I remember seeing Kouga at your graduation... is he...?"
"Mated to Ayame. They just had a new baby this year."
"I'd like to see everyone, if that is okay," Kagome sniffed as she rubbed her eyes.
"Satori is going to kill us, Sesshomaru. Despite the reason why, we both concealed her grandpups from her," Nova chuckled and he nodded.
"It will take several days to get your kit here so take that time to readjust, Miko and gather yourself. Once they have all come, I will have a car come pick you up," Sesshomaru spoke as he got to his feet.
"Thank you... oh, nova your huge!" Kagome finally noticed as she stood and stretched. "Wait... pups...? As in multiple?"
"Twins," Nova chuckled. "Now I do believe that Aunt Aiko was concerned about your mentality. Go be with them."
"Okay," Kagome nodded, her eyes still watery as she stood and hugged her before quickly leaving the well house.
"Might as well turn it into a gathering to announce your heirs," Nova mused as she looked up at him.
"That was the plan," he nodded as he stood. "Let us return home."
"I didn't see my Baba dying in the series of flashbacks," Nova whispered as he pulled her back into his arms and quickly returned to the mansion.
"Neither did I. I will make some calls," he answered as he set her down on her balcony where Khendon sat, waiting.
"Hey Khen," Nova smiled and rubbed his head as Sesshomaru left the room.
'Mistress,' he let out a low content growl and she stiffened. 'Your sire taught you when you were young to one day understand me.'
"Oh... you need a bath."
'As do you,' he huffed in amusement but led the way into the bathroom.
Nova turned on the shower before stripping down and stepped into the warm stream. A sigh escaped her as the water hit her back, relaxing her muscles as Khendon stepped in to the water beside her. She moved to her knees and worked on washing her companion before washing herself and rinsing them both off. Laying a towel down for Khendon to step onto, she wrapped herself in the thick floor length robe that had been hanging up and wrapped a towel around her hair. Grabbing another towel, she worked on drying Khendon so he wouldn't drip water through the house.
"Nova?" She heard Kaya through the closed door and got up to open it.
"What's up?" Nova asked as she saw Touran behind her.
"This just arrived," Kaya held out a sealed yellow package. "It's from India."
Nova took the package and looked at the label to only see that it had come from the Mumbai division of Takiyama corporation. Opening the package, a box that would usually hold a necklace sat inside. Grabbing the box, she opened it to reveal a necklace she had remembered from the flashbacks of her childhood that concealed her daemon characteristics, blue jeweled rhombus sat in a silver setting hanging from a silver chain.
"What is it?" Kaya asked.
"Something from flashback memories," Nova frowned as she grabbed the necklace and put it on, but left the seals off.
"Let's get you dressed so you can lie down," Touran spoke and wrapped an arm around her and led her into the closet. "Seems like Sesshomaru will need to buy you some more clothing to accommodate the growth of the pups."
"A crop top and pants are fine. It only would matter when I return to work," Nova frowned as the two women dried her and helped her dress, braiding her damp hair.
"You plan on working?"
"I have to adjust, right? Best to get back into the rhythm I had before. Flashbacks haven't changed what I've done for myself the past few years."
"Just don't overdue it, please," Kaya frowned. "I would like for Sesshomaru to bring you by my office tomorrow so we can get a physical look at the pups."
"Guess you better tell him that," Nova chuckled.
"His work had been chaotic and he's not a neat organizer since you've been gone."
"Don't tell me that," Nova groaned before pushing past the two woman and left the bedroom to track down her mate in his study.
"No, you need to rest...!"
"You know how OCD she is about cleanliness, Kaya, you shouldn't have said anything today," Touran chuckled but she didn't feel them following while Khendon caught up to her.
