Then…
"But, dammit, I love you!" She finally said and the silence consumed.
Josie was the one to break the silence with her heavy sigh. "Nothing? Not even a word, have you died or something?"
"What do you want from me now Josie?" Dean asked getting up too, as they stared into each other's eyes. She looked away and started to get dressed, putting on her clothes with nothing to say. "Josie!"
"Nothing Dean, I have always wanted and expected nothing," She finally said. "I loved you since ever, and was waiting nothing in return, now we are together, guess that's as good as it gets."
…
There was no question Erin was related to Josie, if someone saw them sure would think they were sisters. Erin was the spit image of Josie, if Josie had a paler skin and a red hair, and bright blue eyes, with a curvier body. Josie was a trained hunter she was more muscular than her cousin, but the resemblance was there.
…
Josie felt like she was being electrocuted, a pain of memories rushed through her brains. "Lucifer sends his regards." Azazel whispered in her ears. Josie started gasping for air, she could not breathe seeing what seemed like her life, she saw herself in many places and many outfits. She saw herself among people who looked like humans, but they had blank faces with no emotions. She was on a chair as a guy with blue eyes came closer to her, he started chanting in a language she did not understand, as she started screaming, being split into two. Josie could feel the pain, she kept on screaming feeling pain shooting through her veins, she screamed until her body and mind could not handle, she fainted.
"Put them next to each other." Azazel demanded pointing at Josie and Erin.
…
The bodies were melting, not like what would you expect from a human body, they were turning into power, a physical power of fire. Both women started screaming, and the demons did not stop their chanting. The fire grew bigger and bigger, in a second no one could see the bodies, only the glowing fire.
In the middle of the fire, both bodies were mending into one, melting as Josie became Erin, and Erin became Josie. They were not two people, now they were one. The demons stopped their chants, only Azazel was still going. The fire was fading, and as it did, there were only one body on the floor. Azazel stopped his chants smiling, everything was silent, Josie was left naked on the floor, breathless.
…
Now…
Josie was missing for months, Dean, Bobby and Sam did their best to find her but none of their efforts paid off. They asked everyone and went to all the places she would go, starting from the hotel she was last seen with her cousin Erin, who disappeared as well. At the hotel, when they started, everything that mentioned Erin was gone, like she was never there, even when the Winchesters played cops to check out the surveillance tapes, they found nothing, absolutely nothing. They were going crazy, they kept looking and even Bobby informed every hunter he knew to help them with the search in case they saw her or heard anything that would help.
Dean and Sam went through much during these months, Meg possessed Sam, she was sent by the yellow eyed demon – the Winchesters knew nothing about that, the demons needed them away from Josie. Dean faced a Dijin, and above all a trickster that made their lives an annoying hell for a few days.
It did not go better for the young men, while they were searching for Josie, Sam went missing. When Dean fails to find his younger brother, he asks for him from Bobby, but when they arrive at the Roadhouse they find it burnt out and the occupants, apparently including Ash, but not Ellen, dead. Yet, with Bobby's help they work out that Sam is in Cold Oak, South Dakota.
Meanwhile the Yellow-Eyed Demon appears to Sam and explains that his plan is for the children with special powers to fight amongst themselves until the strongest is the only one left to lead the Demon's army. He says that, with his leadership qualities and hunter training, Sam was in fact his favorite. The Demon admits killing Jessica so Sam would go back to hunting. He then shows Sam a vision of what happened the night Mary died. Sam sees that the Demon fed drops of his blood to baby Sam, and that Mary knew the Demon.
Sam tries to survive but sadly Jake – who was one of the yellow eyed demon kids – stabbed him in the back. Sam spent his final moments cradled in his distraught brother's arms.
Dean could not take all of these loses at once, he was unable to decide what to do next, he was heartbroken at the thought of letting everyone in his life down, Josie and now Sam. Dean was living his worst moments, the people he cared about the most were gone, one was missing, and another was dead. He thought of the last time he saw them and how he should have told them so much, he should have told Josie he loved her, and he should have there for her and for Sam.
In a fit of despair, Dean drives to the nearest crossroads and summons a Crossroads Demon. The demon, however, did not agree to grant Dean the return of his brother and ten years of life. The demon offered Dean one year, and one year only, promising that if he tries to get out of the deal, Sam will drop dead straight away. Dean agrees. Sam wakes up with no idea of what his brother did.
The Winchesters, with the help of Ellen and Bobby, and with some of the research Ash left, they manage to locate where the yellow eyed demon sent the final winner from the cursed kids. Sam gets his revenge, shooting the man who stabbed him, but it was too late, the door to hell was opened with the Colt, letting hundreds of demons out of hell into our world.
Bobby, Ellen, and Sam run to shut the doors of the crypt. The Yellow-Eyed Demon steps into the cemetery, snatching the Colt from Dean, thanking Dean for bringing Sam back into the game and prepares to kill him. Suddenly, the spirit of John Winchester appears and wrestles the Demon out of his physical body, giving Dean enough time to grab the Colt to shoot the Demon when he re-enters the body, killing him. Ellen and Bobby then manage to close the Devil's Gate.
…
"Did I die?" Sam asked his brother. "Did you sell your soul for me? Like Dad did for you?"
"Oh, come on, no!" Dean lied.
"Dean, tell me the truth." Sam demanded. "How long you get?"
Dean sighed looking down, "one year, I got one year!" he answered, which started an argument between the brothers, which eventually did not change what Dean did. Sam promised he would get his brother out of that deal. "There's nothing I wouldn't do for you." Dean said sincerely, "but now the door to hell is open, and Josie is still missing, we have to do something."
Sam nodded still trying to wrap his head around what happened to them in the last few months, they were living a nightmare that does not seem to end.
…
Few weeks passed, Josie was still missing, no trace at all. Bobby and the Winchesters did not know what happened to her, or her lost battle with the yellow eyed demon, it was one last surprise the demon left for them to figure out on their own.
One night, almost three in the morning and while Sam was doing his usual research, Dean's phone rang, which woke up him up, grumpily he answered the phone, as Sam's attention went to the call, they were used to late phone calls, yet, it had to be interesting. "Hello," Dean huffed, still sounding asleep.
"Dean is that you?" a guy asked.
"Are you calling to check who the hell I am?" Dean growled at the called.
"It is you, I'm sure now," the guy said sarcastically. "I'm Harry, Harry Spengler, from the Ghost-facer team."
"I know who you are Harry!" Dean rolled his eyes, sitting straight up in the bed. "What do you want Harry from the Ghost-facer?"
"Well, we heard you are looking for Josie and we think we found her!" Harry said, which made Dean lose any traces of sleep, "wait, wait," Dean said turning on the speaker to Sam could hear. "Repeat what you just said."
Harry huffed, "I said we know you are looking for Josie and we think we found her," he repeated.
"What? Where?" Sam asked, walking towards his brother. "Tell us everything."
"Well, Ed and I were following a case in Texas and it was a bust, and on our way back we went to a bar, just a random bar on the road, she was there, we are not sure, but that girl looked like Josie, well…" Harry paused. "Look we are not sure as I said but we thought it might help."
"What do you mean you are not sure?" Dean said impatiently.
"Well, Dean, she looked different." Another guy answered, it was Ed, Harry's partner. "She didn't even know us; do you believe that?"
"How did she look different?" Sam asked.
This time Harry answered, "She has red hair now, like true red, man her eyes even were different color, it's kinda scary, plus she said her name is Lilly,"
"Lilly? Who the hell is Lilly?" Dean asked, his head was about to explode. "Listen, can you give us the address to that place?"
"Yeah, that's why we called in the first place, you guys are douche-bags, but we thought it was the right thing to do, everyone is looking for her, maybe its her or not, we just wanted to let you know." Harry said.
"Thank you, Harry, seriously, thank you!" Sam said, sighing in relieve, finally a lead. "Please tell us exactly where is that place!" Sam asked, grabbing a pen and a note pad, Dean was already packing his clothes into his bags ready to leave.
…
Three months ago.
Josie woke up suddenly, so fast it made her go dizzy. Looking around, she did not recognize the place, in fact, the longer she thought about it, the clearer it got, she did not remember anything. She did not know where she was at, she did not know who she was, a rush of fear ran though her brain, she was alone, confused, and her head was hurting. Feeling dizzy, she looked around the room again, it felt familiar, yet she was not sure what that room reminded her off exactly.
Josie tried to get up from the bed, but she failed, she found a glass of water next to her bed, taking a sip, she heard the door of her room opening softly, as a tall blonde man walked in.
"Wow, you are awake! That's great news." he said with a wide smile. "I was worried."
"Who are you? What am I doing here?" she asked, her voice was hoarse, coughing a few times, she did not talk in a while.
"Drink some water please, it will help." The blonde man said, he smiled at her as he walked to set by the edge of the bed. "You are in my house, I kinda saved you." He said simply, shrugging.
She looked at him carefully, trying to figure out if she ever met him, "saved me how?" she asked taking another sip of the water.
"Two days ago, I was going home from work minding my own business, suddenly a freaking lighting almost hit me," He paused. "Sorry, my name is Alex, Alexander." He smiled. "not that you know me, but I thought its proper to tell you my name first of all."
Josie smiled, but fast the smile has faded, she was not sure if she should tell him that she does not remember her name. "was there a storm?" she asked trying to gain more time to think.
"No! that was the crazy thing, it was clear sky, no rain, nothing." Alex told her, that lighting came out of no-where, right in front of my car, I almost died, tried my best to avoid getting killed on the road, my car was spinning a few times, when I gained control, I went out to check what the hell just happened. I went to where the light hit, there was a small pit, and you were inside it." Alex sighed. "I still don't understand."
"That is weird." Josie said, smiling nervously. She remembered having some dreams, people chanting in a language she did not understand, she shook those thought off. "Did I have an ID or anything?"
Alex smiled nervously, "actually you had nothing on you," Josie looked at him confused. "you were totally naked." He admitted, getting up from the bed. "you were unconscious, you looked totally fine though, no scratch, you literally came out of nowhere. Do you remember anything?" he asked, opening a small fridge near by Josie's bed, taking a small bottle of water out, handing it to the pale confused Josie.
"I remember nothing!" she admitted, on the brink of crying. "I don't even know my own name."
"Take it easy," he said sitting back next to her on the bed. "I can call the police, maybe your family is looking for you."
"What? You didn't call the cops already?"
"Well, explaining that I found the girl who came out of the freaking lighting is not the best story to tell, you know." Alex said sarcastically. "It's all weird, I covered you and brought you here, I thought I should wait until you wake up, I got you a doctor and everything, he said you were fine, and all your vitals are good, no reason that you won't wake up, I didn't tell him about the girl from the sky though."
"Well, thanks Alex, but I have to go!" Josie said, getting up from the bed in a sudden move that made her head spin, she lost her balance almost falling to the ground, when Alex's arms caught her.
"Woah, easy tiger!" she laughed a little. "you were literally asleep for days; you can't just walk like that." He sighed, "Please, sit back down."
"I need to go, I gotta find out what the hell happened to me." Josie said nervously.
"Look, I hate to say it but," he paused. "I have seen many freaky stuff happening in my days, but you, you," he paused again looking for words. "You are the weirdest thing that ever happened to me. I didn't know what to do with you, I took you to my place, and put some clothes on you," he pointed at the long t-shirt she was wearing. Which was apparently one of his shirts, that were long and loose, it was a white AC/DC t-shirt, "kept you in this room, and just waited, I wasn't even sure you are human, I mean what kind of a human being comes out of a lighting alive?"
"Maybe I was left on the street?" Josie said, like she cracked the mystery, Alex let out a sarcastic laugh shaking his head.
"No, I was sure the road was empty, no bodies trust me. I don't drink on the job." He told her. "Look, you are alive and well, we can figure out what to do slowly, you just need to eat now and maybe shower, I will call my doctor friend to check on you again, hopefully he tells us something we can work with, okay?"
Josie sighed, thinking about it, there was not much to do like he said, she was still confused, maybe more confused after he told her the story of how he found her. She sighed again trying to get up slowly, Alex helped her, now on her feet, she looked around the room again. It was a small simple room, it did not have a style, it was more of an all over the place, yet it felt comfy enough, she thought. Turning her head to her gracious host, she saw him now, like she was finally calm enough to check him out, he smiled at her nervously while she looked at him, he was a tall guy blonde man in his thirties, he was handsome and had an assuring welcoming face, he was wearing the same exact t-shirt she was wearing, looking back and forth between their outfit she smiled.
"They were on sale, you know." He said with a shy smile, Josie laughed a little. "Hey, you are laughing, that's always a good sign." His smile widened.
"Yeah, I guess." She shrugged, realizing he was still holding her arms. "I think I'm no longer dizzy, thank you." She said blushing a little and he backed off.
"Oh, right!" he said with the same shy smile. "Sorry, I'm a little goofy."
"Its okay, but where is the bathroom please?" Josie asked and he pointed to a small door in the room, walking to open it.
"Here you go, that's your bathroom," he said as he turned on the lights inside. "I will bring you some clothes, um, they belong to my ex-girlfriend if you don't mind."
"Alex, I'm cool with anything that will actually cover my ass." She laughed a little pointing at her current outfit. "just some pants please."
"Oh, sure, yeah," he said awkwardly, "I'm not a creep or anything I swear."
"I didn't say anything," Josie said walking slowly towards the bathroom. "you are a good man, thank you for everything."
Alex smiled to her and walked awkwardly away from the bathroom door, for her to get in. "you will find clean towels and shampoo and everything inside, I don't usually get a lot of guests here, but I keep that stuff just in case."
She smiled walking into the bathroom, it was small, but it had a shower, toilet, and a sink, "I imagine a big guy like you doesn't really fit in those." She said and he chuckled, nodding.
"I'll go now, to get you more clothes." Alex said walking away from her, out of the room. Once he was out Josie closed the bathroom door behind her, first thing she saw was her reflection the mirror.
"Woah, who are you?" she said getting closer to the mirror, first thing she noticed is her eyes, the colors or her eyes were different, one was hazel brown and the other was blue. "What the hell is this?" she shook her head, her hair flowing as she did, now she noticed that she had red hair, looking closer at herself, she was not sure what she was supposed to feel. Josie took off her only piece of clothing, which was the over-sized t-shirt, looking at her body. Turning around as she kept looking in the mirror, she was not sure what she was looking for, but maybe she had a tattoo or anything that would help her remember.
Finding nothing, Josie sighed. She kept looking at herself in the mirror, lost in her sad and confused thoughts. Snapping suddenly, hearing the knock on the door.
"hey, it's me, I left the clothes on your bed, sorry they are not much but pick whatever suits you." He said from the other side of the bathroom door.
"Sure, thanks Alex, thank you really" Josie said. She heard him say something, but it was not clear, few second later she heard a door being shut, he left the room. Josie sighed and walked into the shower; she thought a hot shower maybe helps her think better.
…
"Dean, I think we should slow down a little bit, if you want us to find Josie and not end up as roadkill." Sam asked Dean. The brothers were on their way to Texas, to the place Ed and Harry told them about, but Dean was driving like a crazy person, trying to reach their destination as fast as he possibly could.
"Sam, this is the first clue we get in months," Dean replied, not slowing down. "I have only one year to live, I need to find her,"
"I know, I want to find her as much as you can, trust me, but I don't want you to get us all killed, you know!"
"I won't!" Dean said firmly, not slowing down, his eyes on the road determined.
…
Josie's point of view.
I walked out of the shower, still confused, long showers probably help those who have memories and did not come out of a lighting blot. Walking again to the mirror, to brush my hair as I looked at my reflection, it feels like I was looking at a stranger, and I don't know why. My head was spinning, I was lost and confused. Brushing my hair, I walked out of the bathroom to "my room", Alexander left me a weird collection of clothes, very random pieces, shirts, and t-shirts, some were his I think, and some were smaller I assumed they belonged to a girl. I ended up picking a tank top – since there were no bras in sight - and a black wide t-shirt, another AC/DC one, and a black legging, I had no underwear options. I left my hair to air dry, having yet again no other option, I walked out of the room bare feet. Alex was there in the living room, sitting on the couch watching television, he did not notice me walking out at all, his blue bright eyes glued to the tv.
I had to admit to myself, the guy was very handsome. I mentally slapped myself, because my situation ain't pretty and here I am, lost and confused, yet I am thinking this guy was hot. I shook my head and coughed a little so he would notice me.
"Hi, oh nice outfit." He said smiling, turning the tv down. He checked me out a little, his eyes stopped pointing down to my feet. "Oh, damn it, I didn't get you any slippers."
"Yeah," I smiled awkwardly, scratching my head. "I'm a little hungry," damn me, I was very embarrassed.
"I bet you are," he got up from the couch, smiling. "I'll get you something for your feet and we can head out to eat."
I smiled shrugging, talking made my throat hurt a little, so I only waiting for him to get back from his room, he brought me huge sneakers. "Wow, I bet those are yours."
"Yep, just so you can walk out of the door and not get hurt." He said putting them down on the floor.
"Are you always that nice?" I asked with another smile. "Thank you!"
"Welcome," he smiled. "I like helping people, comes with the job description." He told me as I got into the huge shoes.
"Are you a doctor or something?"
"Better, I'm a bartender!" he said as I let out a loud laugh.
"Good one."
"Well, I have my own bar slash restaurant nearby, that's where we are going."
…
After getting new shoes, we went to Alex's bar. He told me he owns the place, and it was time for his shift so he thought he would bring me, he took a few days off to stay at home in case I woke up, and since I did, there was no need to stay home. It was in the afternoon on a weekday, so the bar was empty, we walked in from the vicious sun into the cool bar.
"I'll have to do some stuff, you feel free." Alex said with a smile, leaving me in the empty bar, the place looked oddly familiar, I did not know how, but it did. I sighed and walked to sit by the bar, few minutes later my tall savior came back. "What do you want to eat?"
"I don't know, anything I guess." I shrugged, I really did not care I just wanted to stuff my face with something, my stomach was making noises. "Burger or something."
"Great, tonight we dine!" he said with a goofy laugh.
"Ookay," I laughed awkwardly, he went inside again, I kept looking around the bar, trying to figure out why it looked familiar, trying to squeeze my brain maybe I will remember something, but the thinking did not work at all. Few minutes later, I heard music coming out of the hidden speakers in the bar, it was soft classic rock music, it helped me calm down, I kept listening to the music and waited for my food, resting my head on the bar as I started to get a headache. I did not feel the time.
"Here you go, my famous burger." Alex said walking out of the kitchen. He put a big plate in front of me, it had a massive cheeseburger with some salad and fries on the side, and a huge glass of cola.
"Wow, this looks delicious." I said already grabbing some fries stuffing them in my mouth. "Thank you."
"You are most welcomed…" He paused, "we really need a name for you, because I keep on trying to act like this is normal, but it is NOT!" Alex said, he came from behind the bar sitting next to me.
"I'm really confused, whatever name you can think off, because" I sighed in frustration. "this is really shitty, not remembering anything."
"You will remember, don't worry," he said with an assuring smile. He started eating from his plate, with had the same as mine. He looked like he was thinking too, a moment of silence passed, we were eating, and I tried to focus on the music rather than my thoughts.
"I love Pink Floyd," words came out of my mouth, Alex stopped eating looking at me.
"You remember this but not your name?" he asked, a bit confused. I laughed sarcastically, and shrugged, this seems to be my move now.
"I have the perfect name for you,"
"What?"
"Lilly," he told me, and before I asked why exactly he answered me. "I like Lilies, red ones," he pointed at my hair. "I think its appropriate."
"Okay, Lilly it is."
…
Days passed, so many days that I lost count. At first, I stayed most of my days in that small guest room in Alexander's house, he gave me a mobile phone and a laptop to search maybe I could find something about myself, but I did not, it was not the lack of search, it was the lack of info I have about myself; I could not find anything. I tried searching about weird accidents and I found so much weird stuff happening, people dying in weird ways, storms, and lots of shit, but nothing useful for my case.
After a couple of weeks, I was bored to the bones, I suggested that I should start helping in the bar, after all I was literally staying rent free, food free and I did not like that. Alex did not think it was a good idea since I have no experience being a waitress, but for his surprise I was a natural, he told me I probably did this before, but I do not remember, and I think he was right, I worked smoothly and naturally like I did this as some point.
I did a lot of things like that, I had a very selective memory, I could remember places, songs, acts, movies, many things but my name or where I was from. It was as annoying as I can imagine. Yet, I kept helping in the bar and searching myself in my free time, I stayed with Alex. It did not take long for us to hook up, not long at all.
He was nice and helpful, and we worked all day together and stayed in the same house, it was natural. Not to mention he was easy on the eyes too.
As for my search I had no clue who I was, I had a few weird meets up with people who stared at me like they know me but none of them talked to me knowing Alex and that I was not his girlfriend, some idiots attempted to flirt with me but I managed to stop them, I even broke a guy's nose once. Apparently, I could fight too, I found that out about myself, but not my name, no.
Some of the guys who came to the bar called themselves hunters, I asked Alex about that, like if they are regular hunters, but he dodged off the question and told me that they are not regular hunters, and nothing more. I did not ask, I only dealt with them roughly since most of them were assholes.
I spent around two and half or three months living this simple life, again I slipped into it like it has been my life all along, but part of me kept me restless. Not to mention the terrible dreams I had every night, demons, and people I did not recognize, it kept me up most nights and woke Alex up scared hearing me screaming many nights.
But this simple life and my confusion were about to be over, pretty soon.
…
"According to the address, this is it!" Sam said, as Dean parked his car, looking out of the car window, "I think it's some kind of a hunter spot but I'm not sure." He was pointing at a bar / restaurant in a small town in Texas, where the Ghost-facers directed them.
"Let's go in." Dean demanded already walking out of his car.
"Dean, wait, what if it wasn't her, we need to be ready for everything." Sam warned. "Or possessed or anything like that, don't forget what we faced in the past weeks."
"Can we get in first and see!" Dean huffed, slamming the car door, he put his keys in his pocket and walked ignoring Sam. Dean walked into the bar, hearing the music playing, scanning the poorly lit room trying to find Josie. Sam followed, both brothers walked to sit by a table that showed them the whole place clearly.
"What can I get you?" a familiar voice asked, both men looked at the woman in shock.
"Josie?!"
