Georgina

"Don't look!" Sidney M turning Joy into him, so she couldn't see the body of Georgina Lamb lying near the edge of the cliff. Angus and Filipe doing the same for Anne and Isabella while the older men used a blanket to cover Georgina.

Sidney being the one to pull the blanket over Georgina's face. He had been so angry with her but now was sorry for the ending of her life. She had so much to offer but bitterness had led her down a path of destruction.

It has not been long ago when the men had been at Trafalgar house…

Sidney, Charles and Henry had returned from searching the last vacant property on their list. They were becoming desperate and their concern for their daughters was growing. Henry placing a small flag on the houses they had searched.

"Finally, this model had been useful" commented Charles. Sidney grunting and decided he would set it one fire once they found their girls. They were staring at the model when Angus burst into the room. Angus and his men had caught up with the carriage and found it empty. The frightened driver informing them he had been given a 10-pound note to drive the horses to the next town. Angus and the men bringing the carriage back and were directed towards 'Trafalgar House'. Sidney M arriving back from his own search and shook his head when everyone turned to him in hope.

"We are missing something!" Sidney M grunted while reading over the letters from Steward Montrose. The man seemed to have nine lives and had evaded the traps they had laid. Sidney M had come to the conclusion he must of receiving help from someone in Sanditon… his mind drifting to Georgina Lamb. They heard loud hooves of a horse and a rider shouting for entry into the house.

"Uncle Sidney! Sidney M! Where are you? I know where the girls are!" James not bothering to take off his coat. James quickly informing t

"What do you mean? Georgina is associated with Steward and helped him kidnapped our girls!" Sidney who had been fighting his temper all day exploded like Mt Vesuvius that covered the entire town of Pompeii. The model of Sanditon suffering a similar fate lying in pieces on the floor. Sidney and Angus having to use all their strength to stop Sidney from rushing over to Georgina's house.

"Papa!" Sidney M spoke into his father's ear which jolted Sidney.

"We have to be clever as we cannot afford to make any mistakes. I want to rip the man in two, but we cannot lose our heads" Sidney M's cool thinking helped his father regain control. Clearly Sidney M had inherited this from Charlotte.

They formed a plan and quietly made their way to Georgina's House. They had to act swiftly, and all available men were to come with them. They forced their way into the home and found Evangeline unconscious on the floor in the study. There had been a struggle and papers were scattered all over the floor. Angus finding the statement written by Anne and his blood boiled when he saw blood on the paper.

Sidney M looking at Joy's and had to control his response.

"Secure the house and speak to all of the servants" Sidney M commanded. Charles finding the housekeeper who had helped the girls escape. Charles helping the woman as she had been struck by Steward. Charles thanking the woman and would reward her will a position in his household. He asked the lady if he knew what direction the girls had gone.

"Sidney! Henry! They have headed towards the coastline, and we have to hurry" yelled Charles. They took a short cut and watched the girls run for their lives. The men gritting their teeth as they increased their speed after observing Georgina and Steward chasing after them.

"He had a gun!" roared Angus who had his own gun out ready to fire.

They were not close enough and helplessly watched Isabella dive over the cliff edge. All men imagining the women clinging to the side of the cliff face.

"Dear God… please!" Charles pleaded.

But in the end no one used their weapons because they witnessed Georgina pushing Steward towards the edge. Steward shooting her in the chest but due to the kickback of the gun fell off the cliff. Sidney rushing over to Georgina who only had moments left.

"I am sorry… I didn't realise… I left a letter" Georgina breathing her last. Sidney finding the letter in her purse which he and Charlotte read later that evening

Dear Sidney

I have been a selfish being all my life. I blamed my father for taking me away from my mother and blamed him for dying. You were given no choice but to take me back to England, but I blamed you. I confess I enjoyed making your life difficult and hoped you would leave me alone.

I had found Otis… someone who was similar and lavished attention on me. He made me feel special and I fell in love with him. You were right Sidney in separating us as his gambling addiction would have eaten away my wealth in a matter of years. Otis was the one who had broken my heart, but I focused my heartbreak on you. Charlotte tried to show me that you had my best interests at heart, but I refused to listen.

I had found a friend in Charlotte and she was taken away from me. I know you tried to explain why but I refused to listen. In my mind you played with my friend's heart and turned out to be just the same as Otis ….. 'fortune Hunter'.

I endured you until I was independent and could travel. I finally was in control but it didn't fill the hole in my life. I was in France when I received word 'Otis' had died and met Steward. He was entertaining and like Otis lavished his attention on me. We had fun together and neither of us wanted marriage. He became one of my closest friends and I would do anything for him. I knew there was something dark about him, but I chose to ignore it.

When he wrote and asked to stay with me, I was pleased. As usual he arrived in the middle of the night and I was impressed with his disguise. Steward always believed he was the legitimate Earl of Montrose and asked me to help him. When I finally met the Earl, I knew he was your son Sidney. My desire for revenge resurfaced and I completed the various tasks Steward asked of me.

Sidney… I wanted you to suffer but then I remembered Charlotte.

When we kidnapped Irene, I finally witnessed his true nature and I started having doubts. When I heard him plot to kidnap the girls, I knew I had to intervene. I stayed with them at the dress makers to protect them. When he hit me, I knew I had to do something to stop him.

I am sorry and hope I can help save the girls.

Georgina

"Oh Georgina!" cried Charlotte as she read the last words of her broken friend. In the end Georgina had defended the girls and had paid the ultimate price.
