Chapter 54: Anniversary Surprise

Two days later

Sara and Grissom were in his childhood bedroom, but lying on an upgraded bed that replaced his older one years ago, which made them happy because now they had more room when they slept here.

Although, on the other hand, they also didn't mind the closeness the other bed brought them, and they were still wrapped up in each other's arms right now anyways, so maybe in the end it really didn't matter the size of the bed, they just loved being close to one another, and they'll take advantage of it any time they could.

He cupped his cheek as they were slowly waking up before he whispered. "Good morning, honey."

She smiled as she opened her eyes, her eyes beaming. "Good Morning, babe."

Then they both whispered at the same time once their eye's became focused on one another. "Happy 25th Anniversary."

They leaned toward one another and kissed softly before pulling back and he spoke again after a small sigh. "I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"I know how much you were looking forward to our anniversary party at the house with everybody there."

Not only was the whole family suppose to show up there, but so was the Holland family, Eric, Nancy and their three kids, and a rare visit from Diana, who was a big traveler for her work.

Sara nodded. "I know, and I'm not complaining on who we'll have dinner with later tonight, I just wish they could be here too, including Stephanie and Nick."

As Grissom nodded in understanding, there was a knock on the door before Billy's voice was heard. "Is everybody decent in there?"

Sara and Grissom chuckled before moving from one another so they could sit up before Grissom spoke. "Yes we are, come in."

When the door opened, they see Billy and Faith walking in with TV trays while Even was carrying their glasses of milk, and they smiled while Sara asked. "What's this?"

Billy smirked as he walked towards his mother's side of the bed while Faith was walking towards their father's side. "I know we don't do this much, but this is called breakfast in bed."

They chuckled before Sara shook her head with a smirk. "Alright you smart-aleck."

They all chuckled again, and once the trays were in place, Billy spoke with a little more sincerity. "Happy Anniversary."

Sara took her son's hand and tugged him down so she could kiss his cheek. "Thank you, baby." After he straightened up, he moved to the side so Even could get a hug and kiss once he placed the glasses down on their parent's trays. "Thank you, honey."

While Grissom, hugged his daughter. "Yeah, thank you, butterfly."

They kids switched sides so Sara could hug their daughter while Grissom hugged their sons, and after they pulled back, Billy spoke again. "So, I hope you two don't have anything planned for the day."

Grissom raised an eyebrow. "Why what's going on?"

Faith took some of the answer. "To start with, Mom, you, Juliet and I are going shopping."

Then Billy spoke with another smile. "And dad, you are with us, where there is also a shopping trip involved."

Before they could say anything, Even spoke with a smile. "And there is no point in refusing, because we won't take no for an answer."

The Grissom kids then turned and walked out of the room.

When Sara and Grissom were alone again, they looked at one another before Sara spoke. "I guess we are spending the day apart."

"Well, that just makes later tonight all that more anticipation worthy."

She raised an eyebrow. "Oh really, got something up your sleeve there, bugman?"

His eyes darken a little as he whispered. "Maybe."

After a moment just drowning in his eyes, thinking what they could be doing later tonight, when they will be completely alone for the first time in almost a week.

She cleared her throat and shook her head, causing him to smirk before they started taking their first bites of their breakfast, which once they swallowed it, Sara spoke again. "We have some amazing kids, you know that."

Grissom joked/smirked. "When they want to be."

Sara chuckled then spoke, defending them. "They aren't that bad, they still respect us."

"Yeah." He then sighed. "I just wish they hadn't grown up so fast."

Softly, she nodded. "I know, babe."

"But on the other hand, if they were still young, particularly when it comes to Billy, we wouldn't have..."

Before he could finish, six year old B.J. came running into the room with excitement. "Grandma, Grandpa! Look what I made?"

He held up a piece of paper while he was standing at the end of the bed, and once Grissom took his glasses from the nightstand and put them on, he smiled as he asked. "Let's see what you got there."

B.J. smiled as he rushed to his grandpa's side of the bed, then after Grissom took the piece of paper from the little boy, he saw the stick figure picture, where it was clearly him and Sara holding hands with a house drawn on the side, a sun up in the sky and the words 'Happy Anniversary' Right above them, making their hearts melt as Grissom spoke softly. "This is beautiful, bud, you even got the word 'Anniversary' right, that could be a hard one."

B.J. shyly smiled, which was like looking at Billy when he was that young, before he confessed. "Daddy helped me with that."

Grissom smiled. "He's good at helping people, especially the ones he loves, and you know how much he loves you, right?"

B.J. nodded before walking up to Grissom as close as he could get before wrapping his little arms around his waist as he whispered. "I love you too, grandpa."

Grissom's heart skipped a beat as he wrapped his arm around the little boy's shoulders. "And I love you."

After B.J. removed his arms from Grissom, he ran to the other side of the bed and hugged Sara while repeating the sentiment to her. "I love you too, Grandma."

With tears in her eyes, she whispered. "I love you, too."

They release one another before B.J. runs out of the room, leaving behind two emotional, but very happy grandparents behind, both knowing how much progression he's made in the four days since finding out he had this whole, bigger family, then they looked at one another and started to chuckle before Grissom spoke with a smirk. "Did you think we were going to be grandparents before we even reached 50?"

Sara shook her head then smirked in return. "No, but I also didn't think we were going to be parents before we even reached 30 (Grissom chuckled with a nod at that, feeling the same), so you can say things didn't exactly go according to plan." Then she reached for her glass of milk and held it out towards her husband as she spoke in a more stronger, confident tone. "But, I wouldn't change a damn thing about it."

Grissom smiled with love in his eyes as he grabbed his glass and clinked it against hers. "Me neither, honey."

They took sips of their drinks before they continued on eating with a little small talk here and there, but mostly just enjoying the simple moment in silence.

Once they left the house, which B.J. stayed with Betty, not long after breakfast, they ended up being apart for only a few hours, meeting one another at the park, where they saw Betty, Maria and B.J.

A few minutes later the Grissom kids, Betty and Maria left, leaving Sara and Grissom alone with their grandson so they could spend time with just him, something they hadn't gotten a chance to do yet, and looking forward to doing it more in the future once they're back in Chicago.

A little time passed them by while they were at the park, when Grissom spoke as they kept their eyes on their grandson, who was playing on the play structure. "You know, I can't shake this feeling that we are being set-up."

"What do you mean?"

He smiled as he looked over at her. "I think the family, or at the very least the kids, are planning something for us."

Sara paused for a second before she mentioned. "Well, now that you mentioned it, I didn't think much about it at the time, but it did seem Faith looked at the clock a few times during our outing, like she was making sure we were on schedule."

Grissom raised an eyebrow. "Is that enough proof to assume something is going on?"

Sara shrugged with a smile. "Maybe, but Honestly, I don't care." She then moved closer to him and snuggled at his side as she finished. "Breakfast in bed with you, spending time with our kids, and now grandchild, is a dream day, something I wish we could do more of."

He nodded with another smile as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders before whispering. "So, just go along with it without much thought?"

"If they want to take care of us, and plan things for us for the day, why not. I say we deserve a break from thinking/planning too much, let some one else do it for a change."

He cupped her cheek with his other hand, turned her head and whispered. "You are absolutely right, Mrs. Grissom."

Her smile was cut of when their lips met in a soft kiss, which lasted through a couple of more pecks then he pulls back and kisses her on the forehead before they turned their attention back to their grandson.

They were at the park for a few more hours, which included a picnic lunch before Billy and Even came back for their dad and B.J. while Faith came back for her mom and took them to each of the houses (Betty's & Maria's), so they could shower and get dressed in the new clothes they were gifted by their kids (Well Billy gave Faith the money to buy the clothing for their mom, so it was really just him who did it, but the other two 'put' their name on it, so they got credit as well) earlier that day.

Once they were fully ready, they were told to go out the front door, and when they did, they saw a limo waiting for them with Jacob Jr. dressed up as the driver, they gasped with tears in their eyes before looking at their kids, and Sara shook her head. "You guys."

Faith smiled. "Just enjoy, we'll meet you at the beach house."

Grissom walked up to his wife with a smile as he held out his hand. "Well, you heard her, may I escort you to the beach house?"

She nodded with a smile as she slipped her hand through his. "You may, Dr. Grissom."

As they walked towards the limo, he whispered. "You know what this reminds me of?"

Sara had a feeling, because she thought the same thing, so she said with confidence. "Our first Valentines day as a couple."

He chuckled with a nod. "What a mess that was."

She shook it off. "Like I said back then, I don't think it was that bad, I still got my date with you." She paused for a second before chuckling lightly. "But now that I think about it, should we have taken that as a sign that things weren't always going to go according to plan?"

He chuckled in return. "Not for the first time today, you could be absolutely right."

When they reached the back door to the limo, where Jacob Jr. was still standing, Sara cupped her brother's cheek with a smile. "You didn't have to do this."

Jacob Jr. placed his hand on top of hers. "I wanted to, so just sit back and enjoy the ride."

"Thank you, bro."

"You're welcome, sis. I love you."

"I love you too."

After kissing each other on the cheek, Grissom helped his wife in the limo before turning to his cousin and holding out his hand. "Thank you, Jacob."

"You're welcome, man."

Once they release hands, Grissom got in before Jacob Jr. closed the door, then walked towards the driver side so he could take them to their destination.

When they arrived at the beach house, they got out of the limo, seeing their kids right behind them, before walking inside the house, greeting some of the family that was in the living room, then as they walked outside on the deck, they were face to face for another surprise, not only did Warrick, Catherine, Calleigh and Horatio make the trip, which both couples were iffy even if the party had still been in Chicago, but so did the Holland family, Eric, Nancy, Diana and last but certainly not least, Stephanie and Nick.

Sara turned around to look at the family that was still inside the house with tears in her eyes. "I can't believe you guys did this."

They all smiled before Maria spoke with pride. "It was all your kid's idea, we just followed along their plan."

Sara looked at her husband with tears still in her eyes and a smile on her face. "Like I said this morning, amazing kids." They all chuckled with nods as he smiled, she then turned her head to look at her kids. "You three, come here."

After Billy passed B.J. off to grandpa Jacob, the three Grissom children walked up to their mother before they were all hugged by her as she told them how much she loved them and how proud she was to have them in her life, and it wasn't very long before Grissom was hugging their kids too while saying the same thing.
How they got so lucky with these three, they had no idea, but they were beyond thankful.
