Short Story: The Disturbance of a Nephilim.

*Note: This takes place right after Volume 7, after Vergil lost consciousness.

I wake up in an unfamiliar room. I'm lying on a bed with arm connected to an IV drip. Is it me or is my body feeling a bit better...? I then saw something crimson appear.

"Vergil, you are awake.", said Rias as she was relieved.

"Vergil-san! I'm so glad!"

"I was shocked when you fell unconscious."

...Asia and Akeno are here too. Both are red and swollen around their eyes.

"Huh… Where is this place?"

I look at the soup and juice with a slight sense of disgust.

"No~, it's okay. Anyway, I brought some food for breakfast.", she said as she put a basket on the table. As she opens it, an array of sandwiches, all look well-made, are alignment in front of me.

"Let's eat up~.", she urged me with one.

I receive one, but was hesitant for a second.

Dish that looks good usually have good taste.

"Huh? Is something wrong, Vergil-chan?", she asked as she stares at me.

"N-no, itadakimasu."

I prepared myself and took a bite.

It's… very delicious.

I then took another bite, and another, and another…

By the time I've finished 5 of these Sandwiches, I realized that Serafall hasn't eat even one.

She just sits there, smiling while having her chin against her hands on a bipod stance.

"Ah, my apologies, I ate too early.", I said.

"Eh? No no no, it's fine Vergil-chan! You can eat as much as you want, you know?"

Serafall says that as she waved her hands repeatedly to the sides.

After that, I urged her to also take a share. It took me a while, before she finally join the meal.

After witness the "handy work" of Xenovia and Irina, I must say… this is a good change of pace. Compare to yesterday.

I just returned from the restroom. I didn't want to eat anything for lunch due to not feeling having any appetite after the dedicated breakfast made by Serafall. She left after I have finished eating, presumably to return to her duries.

Right now, I'm sitting on my bed, reading the robotics book that I halted midway.

I also took a break from college today. Included yesterday, Alex replaced me in helping the other students, as well as reported me of sick leave. Due to assurance, I was told to take another day off after today.

When I looked at my wrist watch, it was already time for the ORC Club activity. Right about now, they should be eating snacks while having a laugh.

A simple… but beautiful dream…

One that depicts a memory… of a lifetime ago…

"Ara, Vergil, you're awake"

Rias said besides me.

"Hmm… how long did I passed out?", I asked.

"Not too long, but just enough time for us to make this"

I then lifted my body up, only to realize that there's a big tray of Mushroom Gratin in front of me.

"Mushroom Gratin… did you make this?", I asked Rias.

"Indeed I did, with Alex's guidance."

Author's note 2: Well, a hassle for our MC to deal with after depleted his magical power reserves to save Akeno's mother. A little happy nod to his past: Vergil's favorite food: Mushroom Gratin! I know, it's common for any Maou Gakuin readers to know that it's also Anos Voldigoad's favorite dish. But that's only a part of the reference, the rest is because it's also my favorite dish, as since the vanilla Vergil has yet to have one, I decided to give him mine.
