-Chapter 54-Nationals part 1-
-Rachel pov-
Yesterday with Sugars grandma was fun! She knows so much about Broadway and musicals. I would be lying if I said a spark did not light again. I really need to figure this out soon.
For now my focus is on the competition. I want to make sure we win this for the club. I can just imagine all of the smiles they would have. I can not wait to see them.
"There's the Gabriella to my Troy!" I turn and smile at Blaine as he walks over "You ready for this?"
"Not really" I look around and sigh "I am torn between Broadway and normal life"
"What do you honestly want?" I shrug and look at him "I know you know"
"I want that dream life with sugar" He gives a small smile "You think that is it don't you?"
He shrugs with a smirk "I can not decide" He starts walking away slowly "You are up Rach! Go break a leg!"
I shake my head with a smile. I head toward the green room to see it empty. I guess they are at backstage! I quickly turn and make my way to the backstage area.
I tense when I am quickly pulled into a set of arms. I relax when I see who it is. Brittany is still very hugging and I love that. She never asks but that is cause you can never be mad.
"Hey Britt" She lets me go and smiles "Are we singing yet?"
"Just about" I nod and we walk toward the group "You need to do what you want alright?"
"How did..alright" I smile and shake my head "You know too much for your own good sometimes"
"Call it a mother's intuition" We both chuckle and she pulls me into her "You never have to call us mom ok?"
I nod and lay my head down her shoulder "Ok" I look up with a smile "How about Ma?"
"That sounds wonderful" She smiles wide and we finally reach the group "Looks like our solo is up!"
-Sugar singing-
Becky was a beauty from south Alabama
Her daddy had a heart like a nine-pound hammer
Think he even did a little time in the slammer
What was I thinkin'?
She snuck out one night and met me by the front gate
Her daddy came out wavin' that twelve gauge
We tore out the drive he peppered my tailgate
What was I thinkin'?
Oh, I knew there'd be hell to pay
But that crossed my mind a little too late...
'cause I was...
[chorus]
Thinkin' 'bout a little white tank top sittin' right
There in the middle by me
I was thinkin' 'bout a long kiss man just gotta get
Goin' where a night might lead
I know what I was feelin'
But what was I thinkin'... what was I thinkin'
By the county line the cops were nippin' on our heels
Pulled off the road and kicked it in four-wheel
Shut off the lights and tore through the corn field
What was I thinkin'?
Out the other side she was hollerin' faster
Took a dirt road and had the radio blastin'
Hit the honky tonk for a little close dancin'
What was I thinkin'?
Oh, I knew there'd be hell to pay
But that crossed my mind a little too late...
'cause I was...
When a mountain of a man with a "born to kill" tattoo
Tried to cut in I knocked out his front tooth
We ran outside hood-slidin' like bo duke
What was I thinkin'?
I finally got her home at a half past too late
Her daddy's in a lawn chair sittin' on the driveway
Put it in park as he started my way
What was I thinkin', oh what was I thinkin'
Then she gave a come-and-get-me grin
And like a bullet we were gone again... 'cause I was
Thinkin' 'bout a little white tank top sittin' right
There in the middle by me
I was thinkin' 'bout a long kiss man just gotta get
Goin' where a night might lead
I know what I was feelin'
But what was I thinkin'... what was I thinkin'
By the county line the cops were nippin' on our heels
Pulled off the road and kicked it in four-wheel
Shut off the lights and tore through the corn field
What was I thinkin'?
Out the other side she was hollerin' faster
Took a dirt road and had the radio blastin'
Hit the honky tonk for a little close dancin'
What was I thinkin'?
Oh, I knew there'd be hell to pay
But that crossed my mind a little too late...
'cause I was...
I pull sugar into a hug as she comes off stage. She sounded so wonderful! She has become such a great singer! She is so talented honestly.

A chair is still a chair
Even when there's no one sittin' there
But a chair is not a house
And a house is not a home
When there's no one there to hold you tight
And no one there you can kiss goodnight
Woah girl
A room is a still a room
Even when there's nothin' there but gloom
But a room is not a house
And a house is not a home
When the two of us are far apart
And one of us has a broken heart
Now and then I call your name
And suddenly your face appears
But it's just a crazy game
When it ends, it ends in tears
Pretty little darling, have a heart
Don't let one mistake keep us apart
I'm not meant to live alone
Turn this house into a home
When I climb the stairs and turn the key
Oh, please be there
Sayin' that you're still in love with me, yeah
I'm not meant to live alone
Turn this house into a home
I climb the stairs and turn the key
Oh, please be there, still in love
I said, still in love, still in love with me, yeah
Are you gonna be in love with me?
I want you and need you to be, yeah
Still in love with me
Say you're gonna be in love with me
It's drivin' me crazy to think
That my baby couldn't be still in love with me
Are you gonna be? Say you're gonna be
Are you gonna be? Say you're gonna be
Are you gonna be? Say you're gonna be
Well well, well well
Still in love, so in love, still in love with me
Are you gonna be?
Say that you're gonna be
Still in love with me, yeah
With me, oh
Still in love with me, yeah
We all go out as the crowd is still clapping loudly. It is time for the final number. We all get into our spots and I put my show face on. We are walking out with a trophy tonight or we will fail trying our damn best.
This year has had so many trials for us. We never knew what was gonna happen. But through it all we came on top. We became closer as a family.
-Rachel-Cherry-Amber-All-
There ain't no reason you and me should be alone
Tonight, yeah, baby! (Tonight, yeah, baby!)
And I got a reason that you're who should take me home tonight (Tonight)
I need a man that thinks it's right when it's so wrong
Tonight, yeah, baby! (Tonight, yeah, baby!)
Right on the limits where we know we both belong tonight
It's hard to feel the rush, to brush the dangerous
I'm gonna run right to, to the edge with you
Where we can both fall far in love
I'm on the edge of glory, and I'm hanging on a moment of truth
Out on the edge of glory, and I'm hanging on a moment with you
I'm on the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge,
I'm on the edge of glory, and I'm hanging on a moment with you
I'm on the edge with you.
Another shot before we kiss the other side
Tonight, yeah, baby! (Tonight, yeah, baby!)
I'm on the edge of something final we call life tonight
(Alright! Alright!)
Put on your shades, 'cause I'll be dancing in the flames
Tonight, yeah, baby! (Tonight, yeah, baby!)
It isn't hell if everybody knows my name tonight
(Alright! Alright!)
I'm on the edge with you
I'm on the edge with you
(You, you, you...)
I'm on the edge of glory, and I'm hanging on a moment of truth
I'm on the edge of glory, and I'm hanging on a moment with you
I'm on the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge,
I'm on the edge of glory, and I'm hanging on a moment with you
I'm on the edge with you (with you, with you, with you, with you, with you)
The crowd erupts and I smile brightly. They are clapping for us and our performance. I feel pride
Swirling around me and a passion start to burn. I look to stage right and see Blaine smiling.
We take our bows and walk off the stage. I look to Brittany and see her smiling with a thumbs up. The next face I look to is not the same though. Sugar looks ready to bawl.
Everyone looks tense around us right now. I take a step toward her but she runs. I go to sprint after her but get stopped. I fight against mom but she will not leave me.
"Let me go!" I watch as sugar disappears "Let me
Talk to her!"
"Let her calm down!" I feel my tears start to form "Please baby girl! just let her calm down and let yourself calm ok? If you go now someone will say something they regret!"
"I-I just want my fiancé" The tears finally fall and mom pulls me into her "I am lost without her"
"It will be ok" She slowly strokes my hair "It will al be ok"
I let everything out as I cry into her shoulder. I can not lose sugar now. She is my whole world. If I lose her I lose everything.
Broadway is not worth losing everything. If it means losing her I will not go. I need her in my life now. She means everything to me.
"Let's go to the green room" I nod and we walk with her arm around me "I promise it will be ok"
I just nod as she speaks. I am not really focusing on anything but a few things. What will happen with us now? How can we get in the same page?
Am I about to lose my fiancé?
