The Invincible Spider-Man

Chapter 54: Persistent Chance

Peter opened his eyes, his nose being assaulted by the pungent smell of antiseptic. He couldn't open his left eye properly, but his right was fully open. He looked around, and found himself in a hospital room, an IV running into his right hand.

He painfully turned his neck to the left, and saw Daredevil sitting beside him.

"G-Gwen," said Peter, painstakingly. His ribs hurt like Hell with every breath he took. Come to think of it, every time he took a breath his nose would sting. He tried to lift his left arm, only to notice that it was in a cast.

Matt quickly stood up and walked towards Peter.

"Stay calm. Don't hyperventilate," said Matt, steadily listening to Peter's racing heartbeat.

"Gwen…" asked Peter again, his voice but a faint whisper.

"We haven't found her yet. It's been a few hours now," informed Matt.

Peter pulled the IV tube from his right wrist and tried sitting up, despite his chest pounding with every breath. Matt tried to stop him, but he knew it was useless.

"We have to…find her…find Norman," said Peter, ripping off his cast. That's when he realized that he couldn't move his legs.

"Matt, I…I can't feel my legs…" said Peter, feeling faint again. Matt sighed.

"When Norman threw you off the building, your lower vertebral column was dislocated. It's been healing quick though, but it will take a while," he said.

"We don't have a "while." Otto's out there, more desperate than ever, and Norman has Gwen!" exclaimed Peter, tears streaming down his face.

"About that, I'm going to go interrogate Scorpion about Otto's plan. Here's hoping I get some leads," said Matt. "Don't do anything stupid," he added.

"Wait, I'm coming with you. I don't need my legs much to swing," said Peter, as he tried getting off the bed, but Matt put him back down.

"Peter, trust me. You need to be safe for now," said Matt. Peter reluctantly nodded, and Matt left the room.

Gwen woke up, tied to a chair in a dark room.

"Hello!? Anyone?" she asked, terror beginning to course through her veins, as she began to recollect her memory.

"Holy shit, Peter?" she asked herself, as she looked around, her eyes adjusting to the darkness. She could make out a figure in the far corner.

"I know you're there!" she said out loud, and the figure came out of the shadows. It was Norman, in his Green Goblin armor.

"It's been a long time, hasn't it?" asked Norman, chuckling.

"You know he's going to come to stop you, right? Just like before," said Gwen, trying to keep a brave face.

"I hope he does, but he'll probably take a while, wouldn't he? I mean, you saw what I did to him," said Norman in a snarky tone. Gwen seemed visibly uncomfortable when Norman brought that up.

"Spider-Man always gets back up," she said, bravely, trying not to show her fear. Norman looked at her curiously, and then started to laugh.

"Did Parker tell you that? Wow, he's even more delusional than I thought. Let me tell you something, Gwen. The whole "I get knocked down but then I get up again," is a joke. A fairy tale, if you will. See, a man can get back up, if he has something to get back up for," explained Norman.

"That's not true. That might be your screwed up ideology, but not Peter's. Peter is a hero, and heroes get back up no matter what," retorted Gwen.

"And now I'm guessing you're going to say something along the lines of "evil never prospers" or other bullshit you were fed in kindergarten? Evil may not prosper, but that depends on the evildoer, doesn't it? If the evildoer doesn't cover his tracks, eventually the "good guys" will get to him," said Norman.

"But, if an "evildoer" knows how to cover his tracks, and knows exactly how to defeat the do-gooder, then he gets away scot-free. Tell me, did they ever catch Jack The Ripper? Or Jonbenet Ramsay's killer?" he asked.

"And you know how to beat Peter?" remarked Gwen. Norman suddenly jumped closer.

"Beat him? No, my dear. Just defeating him wouldn't be enough. I know how to break him. Make him wish he were never born. This day was persistent chance, dear, an inevitability," he snarled, as he played with a strand of her hair. Gwen jerked her head away.

"Now, if you'll excuse me. I have to let the world know that the Green Goblin, has returned!" laughed Norman, as his helmet extended itself and covered his face. His back seemed to have nanotubes of Globulin Green constantly being injected into his body, all being fueled by some substance.

Out of nowhere, the glider whizzed past Gwen and showed up at Norman's side. He hopped onto it and zoomed away.

Daredevil made his way to the interrogation room, where Jean was waiting for him behind the double mirror.

"I doubt you'll get anything out of him, his lips have been sealed tight," said Jean.

"I'll find a way," said Daredevil, as he walked into the room.

"Well well well, where's the other freakshow?" asked Mac. Daredevil didn't say a word.

"The smell of prison food, and cement and steel. Mac's been in a prison cell for a while now," thought Daredevil. "Otto Octavius, what do you know?" he asked.

Mac's expression barely changed from his usual smugness, but Matt noticed a lot.

"His heartbeat increased ever so slightly, and his nose just barely scrunched up, judging by the change in airflow near his nose. He fidgeted his fingers and thanks to the increase in the smell of bread and eggs, he exhaled much more," noted Matt in his mind.

"Nothing. All Otto did was tell us to take out Spider-Man," said Mac, as his heartbeat remained partially steady.

"That's it? Nothing else about Otto?" prodded Daredevil.

"Nada," replied Mac, but that's when his heartbeat increased drastically.

"You're lying, Otto let you in on a lot more. And judging by your micro-expressions, you seem to resent him, why?" interrogated Matt.

"I got nothing to say to you, pal. Even if Otto did anything, I got a code. I ain't no snitch," said Mac.

"That's funny," said Daredevil.

"The Hell's your point?" asked Mac. Daredevil chuckled slightly.

"Thought you would've figured out by now. The truth about Otto," said Matt.

"What truth?" asked Mac, a little curious.

"About him and another partner of his. I assumed you'd know about him. The Altruist," said Matt. Scorpion was about to say something, but Matt interrupted him.

"I mean, everyone else knew. Beck, Dillon. Hell, even Marko," bluffed Matt.

"Hang on a second! I was the one who told Marko's dumb ass!" protested Mac. "I was the one who figured out about The Altruist, not those idiots!" he continued.

"Strange, anything else? Or are you really the only clueless one in the Sinister Six?" asked Daredevil. "I mean, the others just blurted out a lot more information, we just need to corroborate their information with yours," said Matt.

"That's not possible," fumed Mac, shaking his head.

"It almost seems like all of them knew all of this, except you, Mac," bluffed Daredevil. "My theory is that Otto told them and not you. Any clue why?" asked Matt.

"Because that idiot couldn't lead us! And he was working with someone else. Yeah, we had a feud, and looks like he decided to get back at me by not telling me any of this shit!" exclaimed Mac.

"Almost as if he wanted you to fail?" suggested Matt.

"Screw him. Those other idiots didn't know jack shit about The Altruist, or about Otto, but I made sure to investigate him," said Mac.

"Tell me," replied Daredevil. "You wanna get back at Otto, don't you?" asked Matt.

Mac sighed. "Tricorp Tower. That's where he was going to meet up with The Altruist, whoever he is," said Mac. Daredevil nodded and walked out the door, meeting eyes with an impressed Jean DeWolff.

"Using his ego against him. Smart. By the way, look who came by," said Jean, as she gestured towards Spider-Man, who seemed to look relatively okay.

"What the Hell are you doing here?" asked Matt, but Peter showed him a device.

"Last time I had an interface jammer, but it's safe to assume that he's got precautions against that this time. So I built this using confiscated technology from the evidence room," said Peter.

"What's this?" asked Matt.

"This won't just attack the neural interface, but it'll attack all the arms' wiring, basically rendering them useless even if the interface is fully functioning," explained Peter.

"You came up with this in 20 minutes?" asked Matt, very impressed.

"Midtown Valedictorian, remember? Now come on, we've got an octopus to catch. And then a Goblin," said Peter.

Spider-Man and Daredevil made their way to Tricorp Tower, only to see Doc Ock working on a device.

"And the unholy octopus-man hybrid worked on his device in peace. That's a movie I'd pay to watch," said Spider-Man. Otto groaned as he turned around.

"Why can't you two just leave me alone!" he yelled, as he extended all four of his tentacles towards Spider-Man and Daredevil, and they both dodged them. However, one tentacle slammed into Spider-Man.

"Daredevil!" he yelled, as he threw the jammer towards Matt, who leaped and caught it. A second tentacle grabbed Spider-Man and slammed him into the ground.

"Another jammer? You never learn, do you?" snarled Otto, as he reached all 4 tentacles towards Daredevil, who grasped the jammer in his right fist. A tentacle wrapped itself around his left arm, and a second one around his right leg. Otto lifted him up and slammed him onto the ground, while a third tentacle grabbed his right hand.

"You need to learn to divide your time, Otto! I'm starting to feel like I'm not worth much to you!" said Peter sarcastically as he leaped onto his back, trying to punch out the interface.

"Tell your arms that if they don't want to be with me anymore, then they can find another man! Like that Daredevil guy!" he continued, acting like an possessive partner.

"Enough with the jokes!" shouted Otto, as he let go of Daredevil and aimed his hands at his back, grabbing Peter and throwing him off of the roof. Spider-Man quickly shot a web to prevent himself from falling.

Otto moved his tentacles in a frenzy as he tried to hit Daredevil, but all of his attacks missed as Matt weaved through them gracefully with a series of kicks and flips. He slid under Otto and landed on his back, ready to place the jammer.

However, Otto slammed his legs onto the ground and began to extend them, as he went higher and higher.

In an instant, he retracted his arms, and instantly went down, causing Matt to fly off of Otto and land back on the roof. Otto wrapped two tentacles around Matt, one around his arm and the other around his leg. He lifted him and slammed his side onto the railing along the roof.

Before Otto could slam him again, Daredevil threw the jammer off of the roof.

"You fool! That was the only way you could've stopped me! The Superior Doctor Octopus!" yelled out Otto. All of a sudden, webbing came out of nowhere and stuck itself onto Otto's face.

Spider-Man swung back onto the roof, with the jammer in hand, as he went to help Daredevil.

"You good?" asked Peter.

"Pretty sure I dislocated my pelvis," groaned Matt, as Peter handed him the jammer.

"Get this on the interface, go!" said Peter, as Matt nodded and jumped onto the other side of the railing, hanging from the edge of the roof to make sure he wasn't seen.

"DAREDEVIL! NOOO!" shouted Spider-Man, and Otto simply laughed as he ripped off the webbing.

"Looks like I managed to throw him off the roof. What a pity!" said Otto, as he started to attack Peter. Spider-Man leaped towards him and grabbed one tentacle, webbing it to the ground. He grabbed another tentacle and stabbed it into another. And he was just about to dodge the final tentacle, but it wrapped around his chest.

Otto brought Peter closer to him. "You were my prized pupil, Peter. It's a shame how you decided to waste your talents in such a way. Like I said before, you could've become a superior Spider-Man. But you squandered all of that potential. Looking back, I see you were destined for failure," gloated Otto.

"Speaking of looking back, you should do that right now," said Peter, pointing behind him.

As soon as Otto turned his head around, Daredevil jumped and kicked him in the face, before climbing onto his back and slamming the jammer right onto the neural interface.

"NOOO!" shouted Otto, as he freed all of his tentacles and grabbed Daredevil, throwing him across the roof. Matt went tumbling off of the rooftop.

"Daredevil!" shouted Spider-Man, as he rushed to help Matt, and saw him hanging by his fingers. Peter immediately helped him get back on the roof, as all of Otto's mechanical arms went limp.

"You lose, Otto," said Spider-Man, as Otto nodded in defeat. Just then, the three of them heard a whirring sound, and Peter knew exactly what it was.

"Oh Otto! What a pity!" said the Green Goblin, rising from the side of the building, on his glider.

"You!" said Peter and Doc Ock together.

"I must thank you for finishing my work, though," said Green Goblin, addressing Otto.

"Your work?! I've been working for The Altruist, you two-faced ingrate! I'd never work for scum" spat out Otto. Norman cackled out loudly.

"You think you're smart, Otto. I AM THE ALTRUIST!" he declared, much to Otto's dismay.

"No, that's not possible! How? Fiers told me-"

"Gustav Fiers, who was actually Chameleon the whole time, who was working with me," explained Norman smugly.

"I can't believe I was tricked to work for an earthworm like you!" snarled Otto.

"That statement implies that you were tricked by an earthworm, Otto," retorted Norman.

"That's enough, Norman! Where's Gwen?!" asked Spider-Man.

"Peter…always asking the wrong questions. Some "hero" you are, you forgot the elephant in the room!" said Goblin, pointing at the device installed by Otto. "You were wondering what I did with the Nanotech Energy, weren't you?" he asked.

"Shit," said Matt, as he concentrated on the device.

"What is it?" asked Peter.

"It's a bomb!" said Norman. "I also took the liberty of planting six others, at various populated places," chuckled Goblin.

"A Nanotech Energy fueled bomb! Are you crazy, Osborn!" shouted Otto.

"You'll kill us all!" exclaimed Peter.

"I haven't armed it yet. Well, Otto here installed the master device," said Norman, as he pressed a button on his gauntlet, Just then, a live video showed up of Gwen on the gauntlet.

"Gwen! Are you okay?!" asked Peter.

"I'm fine, are you?" she asked.

"Gwen, wherever you are, get out of there now!" said a terrified Peter.

"She's tied to a chair, genius," interrupted Norman.

"Peter, listen to me. Whatever happens after tonight, just know that I love you. So much. You're one of the best people I could've asked for. One of the best people the world could've asked for," she said, a river flowing down from her eyes.

"Gwen wait! Please don't," begged Peter. "I'm coming!"

Norman switched off the video, and pressed another gauntlet, as the bomb started to tick.

"Your call, Spider-Man. Save Gwen, or stop the bombs from exploding! If you want to find me, come to where we had our last waltz," said Norman, as he zoomed away again, leaving a cloud of dust.

Peter held his hands on his head, unsure of what to do. Taking a deep breath, he rushed to the bomb.

"Daredevil, grapple down to the streets and evacuate everyone. Otto, help me here!" ordered Peter. Daredevil took out his grapple gun and rappelled down the tower as quick as he could.

"This is the master device. If we disarm this we can disarm the others," said Peter.

"Altruist- Norman, told me you can't disarm then once primed," said Otto, as they got to work.

"Maybe not, but we can reduce the blast radius!" replied Peter, as beads of sweat went down his forehead.

Otto and Peter took apart the device, and tried to limit the radius of the blast. They managed to do so, but it wasn't enough.

"Peter, we're running out of time!" said Otto.

"No, we can still reduce it more!" said Peter, as he made a paraglider out of webbing and wrapped it around Otto.

"Go, now!" he shouted, and Otto jumped off of the building, hoping the webbing was strong enough. He glided away to safety.

Peter continued to work on the bomb, to no avail. The bomb's ticking got more and more rapid.

"Peter, the area around the tower is evacuated. What about you?" asked Matt, worriedly.

Spider-Man ran back and built a cocoon of several layers of webbing around him. He closed his eyes, as the bomb went off, toppling the entire tower as it came crashing down onto the street.

"We are live outside the now crumbled Tricorp Tower, which many people claim was the epicenter for the first blast to go off. Luckily, this place was evacuated so casualties are relatively minimal, when compared to the bombs that went off at Central Park, The Bronx, Times Square and Staten Island too. This seems to be a coordinated attack across New York, but we do not know who caused this," reported Eddie, as he stood in front of the Tricorp rubble, as first responders rushed to the scene.

"We've found someone!" said one of them, as two others dragged out Daredevil from the rubble, his mask half torn.

"It's that Devil guy! Is he alive?" asked one of them, as another checked his pulse.

"He's alive! Get him on a stretcher!" said the EMT, as two others wheeled in a stretcher.

"Should we take his mask off?" asked one of them.

"No. No matter what, don't. It's not our right to know, especially when he's almost dead," said the EMT very sternly. "Alright, let's move! Get other survivors on stretchers too!" he continued, gesturing for more stretchers.

"We also have reports of complete anarchy on the streets of New York, as many believe this is an act of God. Everyone stay inside your homes and stay off the streets, no matter what!" reported Eddie, as the cameraman switched off the camera.

"Jesus, how does something like this happen?" asked one of the first responders to Eddie.

"Who knows, maybe this is an act of God, and we're all going to Hell?" suggested Eddie, as he got a call from Ned.

"Ned, what's happening?" asked Eddie.

"Carnage!" yelled out Ned. Eddie could hear a lot of commotion from Ned's side.

"It's complete carnage here! Overturned cars, Molotov cocktails, everything!" shouted Ned.

"Where are you?!" asked Eddie.

"West 45th street! It's a complete riot. Listen, in case anything happens, just tell Betty-"

"Don't you dare finish that sentence! Look, just hide somewhere for now and stay out of sight. Where are you?" asked Eddie.

"The news van overturned while I was driving. I'm still in it, but I can see everything. Jesus, it's…I've never seen anything like it," whispered Ned, shivering with every breath.

"The city's been shot to Hell. Luckily there's someone who can handle this, wherever he is," said Eddie, as Ned cut the call.

"Hey, there's something there!" pointed one of the survivors. The EMTs walked to the place where she was pointing, and found an unconscious Spider-Man lying under rubble.

"Shit! Come on, lift this off of him!" shouted the EMT. However, there were barely six of them, and there was way too much rubble.

"We're not going to be able to," lamented one of the EMTs. The leader walked up to him.

"Have faith, son. We will find him," he said, but there was doubt in his voice.

"We can help," said one of the survivors, standing up. Others stood up with him. The leader nodded, as everyone made their way to the rubble, ready to lift it.

"Ready! 3…2…1!" grunted Eddie, as they all started to lift the rubble off of Spider-Man. As some held up the rubble, others quickly pulled Spider-Man's body out of the rubble.

"Is he alive?" asked one of them.

"Looks so," said another, as Spider-Man slowly opened his eyes, seeing all the civilians staring down at him. He grunted as he tried to get up, but stumbled down. The leader quickly held him.

"Take it slow, Spider-Man," he said. "And if you can, get to West 45th street. It's chaos there," he continued.

"Thank you," said Peter, in a coarse voice, as he managed to get up. "Where's Daredevil?" he asked.

"He's alive, but unconscious," informed the EMT. Peter nodded as he got up and started to walk away.

He tried to swing, but he could barely raise his arm. Groaning, he started to limp away on the street, before starting to walk. Taking a deep breath, he started a light jog as he started going faster and faster, ready to start sprinting, only for him to tumble down again.

"Looks like you need my help again," said a voice. Peter looked up and saw Black Cat looking at him.

"Maybe," snickered Peter, as he got back on his feet. Felicia extended her hand and Peter grabbed onto it. She slung him on her back.

"This is a one-time cab, by the way. Where you headed?" asked Felicia.

"West 45th, Broadway," said Spider-Man, as Felicia started to make her way to the address.

Ned was praying for a miracle as he was stuck in his overturned van. All he could see and hear was fire, explosions and people screaming. Just as he was done with his 9th prayer, he heard a baseball bat slam against the van.

"There's a guy in here! Get him!" shouted one of the rioters, as they broke the window and dragged Ned out of the van.

"We got a blondie!" said one of them, as they punched Ned.

"Look you don't have to do this-OOF!" he grunted, as one of them socked him in his chest. Another person punched him across the face, and grabbed him and threw him to another guy, who grabbed his back and slammed him down on the ground.

Before Ned could even do anything, another guy kicked his face, before kicking him away again, towards a fire.

"Come on, boys. Let's roast a chicken!" they said, as they stepped on Ned's chest, grabbed him and started to push him closer to the fire.

All of a sudden, a web covered one of their faces, and before they knew it, Black Cat had shown up, and kicked away two of the thugs. Spider-Man jumped in and rescued Ned.

"You okay?" he asked.

"Just my pride," said Ned, massaging his jaw.

"Black Cat! Try and keep these riots under control. I need to go stop Green Goblin," said Spider-Man, as he finally had enough power to swing away. He knew exactly where Goblin was going to be.

Spider-Man managed to painfully swing over to Washington Bridge, and sure enough, he saw Norman holding Gwen off of the bridge.

"Oh God, no," said Peter, as he started to climb up a cable, exhaustion overcoming him. He made his way to the top.

"Well, isn't this poetic? Things have really come full circle, haven't they?" asked Norman, cackling as he held up a terrified Gwen.

"Norman, I'm begging you please. It's me you want to hurt, not her," pleaded Peter.

"A man's greatest strength is the woman he loves," replied Norman, snarling, as he held her even further. "At least this time she's conscious!" he continued.

"Norman please! Please!" he pleaded. "There's still good inside of you!"

"I seem to recall you saying that I am the Green Goblin, and that's all I ever will be? Taking back your words now?" asked Norman, as Gwen's legs dangled off of the bridge.

Peter was way too tired to even shoot a single web, and even if he did, Norman would drop her.

"Norman look, kill me, okay! Just do it! But let her go, she hasn't done anything!" shouted Peter.

"I don't want to kill you, Peter! No, I want you to suffer. I want you to suffer all the loss a human can endure. I want my boot down on your throat, after I've taken away everyone from you. Then maybe I'll grant you the mercy of death," scowled Goblin.

Peter simply shook his head and put his hands on his head, not knowing what to say or do.

"Now then, as we have reached this crescendo…any last words you wish to tell each other?" asked Goblin.

"Peter…" started Gwen. "I want you to know, that no matter everything we've been through together, I cherish every moment of it. From just hanging out at school, to finding out about you being Spider-Man, and every second being with you. I wish we had more time. But just know this, no matter what, I will always love you," said Gwen, tears falling down her eyes.

"I love you too, Gwen. So so much. I wish I could undo this, I wish I could…" sobbed Peter.

"You're the person I wish I could spend my entire life with, Pete. As a matter of fact, you're one of the best people in the world. Not just a hero, a superhero. My superhero. Promise me you'll keep being one, no matter what happens," she said.

"I'm sorry Gwen," replied Peter.

"It's-"

Just then, Norman dropped her.

"NO!" yelled Spider-Man, as a sudden dash of adrenaline overcame him, and he jumped to save the love of his life.

Once again, time seemed to slow down around him, as Gwen got closer and closer to the ground.

Peter shot a web to the top of the bridge, and another towards Gwen, which stuck to her leg.

As she fell closer, she mouthed the words: "It's okay…" and closed her eyes, a single tear falling down her cheek.

The web attached to the bridge extended itself and stopped, and Peter quickly held on to the web that had stuck to Gwen's leg. But it was too late, as the upper half of her body snapped back, and her head hit the ground.

"No…no…" said Peter, as he jumped and rushed to Gwen, tearing off his mask and cradling her body, placing his hands at the back of her head.

"Hey…hey come on, Gwen…" he said, trying to stop tears.

"Gwen…please!" he shouted, hoping to see any signs of life from her. However, he pulled his hands back from the back of her head, and saw them stained with blood.

"No, please, no Gwen. GWEN!" he yelled, as he completely broke down when Gwen didn't respond at all, and her limbs went limp.

"No…GOD PLEASE NO!" he shouted again, as he cradled Gwen's body in her arms. He heard the whirring of the glider, and Norman came back to the ground.

"Itsy bitsy spider…walking up the spout. Down came the Goblin and washed his girlfriend out!" he cackled. Peter shivered uncontrollably, as he gently placed Gwen's body on the ground.

"I told you, for those years you left me to rot. You're going to pay!" he said.

"You're the creep who's going to pay," said Peter, rage engulfing every word that left his mouth. He turned around, and Norman saw an anger burning his eyes. Anger he had never seen before.

Peter screamed and lunged at him, slamming his head into the cement of the bridge and punching him repeatedly, denting the Goblin armour. Green Goblin kicked him off and jumped on the glider, trying to get away. However, Spider-Man grabbed the glider and pressed his feet on the ground, preventing it from leaving the ground.

Peter pulled the glider down, and Norman tumbled down on the ground too. Peter grabbed the glider by both ends, and in a fit of rage, ripped it in two. He took one half of the glider and slammed it into Norman's legs, breaking both as he screamed.

He then started to punch through Norman's armour, every punch causing Goblin to spit up blood. Peter screamed as he punched through the armour completely, and listed the second half of the glider, ready to stab it clean through Goblin's chest.

Just as he was about to do it, he turned his head back to see Gwen's body, as a pool of crimson paste had formed around her head. Looking back at Norman, he threw the piece of the glider away.

Norman started to smile through his bloodstained teeth. But Spider-Man unloaded all of his webbing from his web shooters onto him, trapping him.

"George…and now Gwen Stacy…" mocked Norman, and that's when Peter knocked him out cold.

He limped back towards Gwen, unable to keep the tears in.

"I'm sorry…" he said, as he started to cry over her body.

Gwen's family could barely keep themselves together at the funeral, as a matter of fact, no one could. Mary Jane, Liz, Hobie, even Harry and Flash were there, both of which had flown from Europe back to New York.

Hours after the funeral ended, Peter was still standing there, tears still flowing from his eyes, as he fiddled with his two web shooters. He approached the grave, as all the memories started to flood back to him in an instant. All the time they spent together at school, on dates, how she always kept him up whenever he was down.

But she wasn't here anymore.

"I'm sorry, Gwen. But I can't do this anymore," he said, as he took off the two web shooters and placed them at her grave, before walking away.

Well that was quite a heartbreaking ending, and I did find it tough to write. I guess as you can probably tell, Season 5 will be following the Spider-Man No More storyline, and I can give a hint to the main villain: Amazing Spider-Man #252. Also, if you're wondering about what happened to Otto, that will be clarified in the next season haha.

It has honestly been amazing writing this season, and Season 5 will hopefully start in a month's time, or sooner!

JPrime: Thanks! I hope you like it!

redbirds12: Thank you! I hope you're excited for Season 5!

Marvel Nerd: Hopefully he will!

Geek4Life: Maybe sometime in the future, you never know lmao.

SpideyXBC: There's still stuff with Black Cat hopefully next season!

Guest: They sure did!

CT311998: Oof, I'm really sorry about that, but her death was super integral for Season 5, which is going to be my darkest season yet.

chiripa012: Yeah sorry about that. But like I said, it's going to be a massive part of Season 5!

Yours Truly,

Shadow Strike.
