Two days pass before Jayce feels well enough to stay awake for more than three hours and get out of bed. Bulma continues I.V. treatment while keeping a close eye on the girls' mental state. For now, J.R. has been doing ok; Jayce's recovery has helped her mental state a bit.
J.R. watches Jayce sleep, worried about her refusing to eat.
"..you sure this is a good idea?" She hears Crosshairs ask someone. She hears footsteps instead of peds walking towards the building.
I can't say something in here even if Jayce is asleep.
J.R. runs out of the building, hoping to stop Crosshairs, but didn't mean to run into him, resulting in the two landings on the ground.
"What's wrong?" Crosshairs asks as J.R. crawls to him and hugs him.
"What are we going to do about Jayce?" She asks as tears roll down her face.
Bulma and Drift are the ones Crosshairs is talking to. The two of them know what J.R. is talking about.
"Well, it's either carefully get her to eat food or put a feeding tube in," Bulma tells them.
"How can we carefully make her eat? Drift asks.
"It'll be a challenge, but we can't wait until she wants to eat food. Besides, I need to make sure she didn't do any internal damage," Bulma explains before going into the building.
No, she needs to know the hard truth. J.R. thinks as she watches Bulma walk away.
"Speaking of eating food, you need to eat," Crosshairs comments, looking at J.R.
Both mechs are happy she didn't refuse to eat though they're trying a small amount of oatmeal.
"How long before he spends the day with Jamie?" J.R. asks, smiling through Drift hasn't spent much time with Jamie the past two days.
"I don't know if he will after we find out if Jayce will eat or not," Crosshairs replies.
J.R. didn't want to leave the building; she sits at the table playing games on her tablet. Drift sits by Jayce's bed, and Crosshairs takes this time as an opportunity to hold Jamie. J.R. takes a couple of pictures, wondering if Crosshairs will fall asleep while laying on the bed, holding Jamie.
J.R. didn't have to wait long for Jayce to wake up. Drift tries to get her to eat while being careful, but she's refusing, which is angering J.R.
"YOU DON'T GET IT, DO YOU!?" she yells as she walks towards the bed. Drift puts a loose hold on her, worried she's looking to fight Jayce. Bulma helps Crosshairs get out of bed and put Jamie back in the bed before standing by Drift.
"YOU COULD HAVE DIED BECAUSE YOU REFUSE TO DRINK ANYTHING, AND SINCE YOU DIDN'T DRINK ANY OF THE NUTRITION DRINKS, YOU STARVED YOURSELF!-"
"J.R., stop," Crosshairs advises.
"HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS?!"
Jayce doesn't know what to say as she feels her eyes begin to water. Crosshairs holds on to J.R. to allow Drift to hold Jayce on his lap.
Jayce rests her head on Drift's shoulder as tears roll down her face.
"Get her out of here!" Bulma orders Crosshairs.
J.R. doesn't put up a fight as Crosshairs carries her out of the building.
Bulma watches Jayce try not to cry but fail.
"Shh, it's ok," Drift assures her, unsure if he should say anything about Jayce eating food.
Bulma sits on the bed and takes Jayce's hand, "you understand how much you scared J.R. Jamie is doing well-."
"No, hear heart is beating too slow," Jayce interrupts.
"You know it's normal, but everything else is fine."
Bulma gets her laptop to show Jayce and Drift her notes and several records from the first couple of years after Jamie survived Vegeta's attempt to kill her. Drift is crushed reading the notes, hating what his girl has been through.
"She's getting better, J.R...was doing better until you scared her. You need to eat."
Jayce tries to get herself to believe Jamie will be ok and should be waking up soon, but there's still so much unknown.
"We'll get through this," Bulma assures her, "I have figured out most of what we could be dealing with medically when Jamie wakes up. It's hard to know how she may be mentally, but she has support."
"It's not going to do her any good if she figures out you've been struggling to the point you refuse to eat," Drift adds.
Crosshairs didn't think J.R. would go from being furious to bawling. Even though she's showing her emotions, he hates it. For now, it's a way to know how mentally unstable she is. Bumblebee and Hound watch, hating how much she's still struggling.
Crosshairs tries walking around, hoping it'll be a good replacement for the slow rocking motion that would calm the girls down.
She's terrified of what we may deal with when Jamie wakes up. He observes.
"Shh, it's going to be ok."
He sits on the ground by the fence, hating he's out of ideas, and has to listen to J.R. cry until she's choking while crying. Bumblebee rushes to get water from Cade's trailer.
Crosshairs holds J.R. on his lap as she drinks the water, trying to assure her everything will be ok.
Twenty minutes, I hate this. He sighs, unsure what to do now.
He takes off his trench coat and uses it as a pillow to lay down with J.R., her head resting on his chest. Her bawling slowly quieting.
Ten minutes pass before Hound tells him J.R. has fallen asleep.
"Take her back to the building," Hound suggests.
"You sure that's a good idea?" Crosshairs asks.
"Better than laying here for at least two hours," Hound comments as he picks J.R. up.
Jayce did panic seeing Hound carrying J.R.
"Shh," he says before laying J.R. in a bed.
"She was crying, worrying about you," Crosshairs explains before seeing Jayce finally ate. He knows Bulma, and Drift already talked to her. Jayce looks over at Jamie's bed and smiles before Crosshairs gives her his phone. She takes a couple of pictures and sends them to her and J.R.'s phones. Drift bad fallen asleep with Jamie on him. Jayce does worry the position he had Jamie is making it harder for her to breathe, but since Bulma did nothing, it must be fine.
He's exhausted, but at least he's getting what he wants. She thinks before looking at Crosshairs, wondering how tired he must be, knowing he'd refuse to take a nap if she insisted. Bulma knows how tired he is and hasn't said anything.
Jayce wants to go for a walk, but she probably wouldn't be allowed even if she wasn't hocked up to an IV. She thinks she scared everyone to the point where no one wants to leave her alone.
"Let's go," Crosshairs whispers as he stands up and grabs the IV pole. He takes Jayce's hand, and they walk out of the building. Jayce still expects Bulma to yell at them, but Bulma knows Crosshairs and Drift are careful with what they let Jayce and J.R. do.
Crosshairs takes Jayce to the table outside and has her sit on the bench.
"Sorry, but I don't want you to go far while on the I.V.," Crosshairs apologizes.
Jayce didn't care; she wanted to get away from the building. She leans on Crosshairs as he puts an arm around her.
Bulma has learned enough about human body language and how much the Autobots' holoform function like humans; Bumblebee and Hound also knew. The three of them smile at each other, happy Drift is having a good dream, likely about spending time with Jamie; Possibly Jayce, and J.R.
Soon, your dream will become a reality. Bulma smiles as she continues her work.
