"Now go and get some rest, it's late." Ash said.

"Night Ash, and thanks again." Goh said.

Just as Goh approached the door, the whole buildings power flickered, and the door slammed shut.

"What just happened?" Goh said, confused.

"Rem probably blew the power again, let me call him." Ash said.

A few minutes passed, as Goh only heard Ash's side of the conversation.

"So, good news is Rem didn't blow the power." Ash said.

"Then why are we locked in your room!" Goh shouted, trying to open the door.

"Best guess, the whole city is out of power." Ash said.

'Ding'

"Hey it's a message from Chloe." Ash said looking at his phone. "Great, more bad news. Apparently the new lab has an automated defense if the power goes out unexpectedly." Ash said with a sigh.

"Meaning…". Goh said, concern rising.

"We're trapped until the power is back on." Ash said. "I think I have some candles, hold on."

A few candles later

"Vanilla? Lavender? Peppermint? Why do you have so many candles?" Goh said confused.

"They're relaxing, now put out two of those, we only need one for now." Ash said, sitting down.

"We shouldn't even be in this mess." Goh said leaning against the door.

"Goh, stop it. Starting like this is a bad idea." Ash said.

"I mean, I came to talk about Serena joining the team, but it should've been a no brainer, and now we're stuck in here, together." Goh said.

"Okay, we're changing the subject. The girl from the train, did you manage to find out who she is?" Ash asked.

"No, it's surprisingly hard to locate someone." Goh said.

"You're telling me." Ash said.

"Fair, got anything to eat in here?" Goh asked. "I'm starving."

"We've been trapped all of ten minutes." Ash pointed out. "How are you already starving?"

"You're one to talk, even at your size, you can still eat more than me." Goh said with a laugh.

"Ash? Where'd you go?" Goh asked, squinting into the darkness.

"Ahh! Razzafrazza!" Ash grunted, falling to the floor.

"Ash!" Goh shouted heading towards the sound of the noise.

"Don't come in here, some of my things fell when the defenses turned on, and the floors slippery." Ash said from the bathroom.

"Are you alright?" Goh asked.

"Hold on." Ash said, concentrating.

A blue glow emanated from the bathroom, and Goh could see just how fought this security was. The door into the room itself was definitely reinforced, and the window seemed to be the same.

"Yeah, I'm fine, wet but fine." Ash said, the glow fading away.

"Why didn't you do that first?" Goh asked.

"Because keeping a shield of any size for any time is exhausting." Ash said, slowly getting up.

"What were you doing in there anyways?" Goh asked.

"I keep chocolate bars under the sink." Ash said.

"Why under the sink?" Goh asked.

"Pikachu can't open those cabinets." Ash responded.

"That's it!" Goh exclaimed.

"What's it?" Ash asked.

"Pikachu! He's probably strong enough to get through the door, and strong enough to get the backup power online." Goh said excitedly.

"That's be great, if he wasn't in the field with everyone else tonight." Ash said, limping into the room.

"I thought you said you were fine?" Goh said.

"For the most part, I am. I still stubbed my toe, then slipped and fell from the shock." Ash said. "Now clearly the candle is enough for you to see me, so either put it out, or turn around. I'm not sure what broke, and I don't want to be wearing all of it." Ash said.

"Hey Ash?" Goh said, his back turned away from most of the room.

"Not done yet Goh." Ash said pulling off the soaked top.

"Not every Pokémon is in the field. Some of them prefer the vents." Goh said, looking at the vent.

"Impidimp?" Ash said. "It's worth a shot."

"Am I good to turn around yet?" Goh asked.

"Yeah, you're fine, I'll call Impidimp." Ash said clambering onto his bed. "Impidimp you in there!"

There was silence for a moment, then Impidimp stuck his head out.

"Great work Impidimp go get help, we're trapped in here." Ash said.

Outside of the lab

A vent burst open, from the roof, as Impidimp clambered out. He couldn't get into the park, but there was another familiar scent nearby. Maybe they could help. Impidimp rushed off to go and get that help.

Back with Ash and Goh

"So chocolate? Candles, what else that makes no sense for a bedroom do you have in here?" Goh asked.

"What's wrong with candles?" Ash asked.

"With one, nothing. Three seems a bit excessive." Goh said.

"Yeah, there's more than three." Ash said.

"Seriously! Why?" Goh exclaimed.

'Ding a ring'

"Oh, that's Serena!" Ash said grabbing his phone.

'Found Impidimp wandering the streets, I'll return him tomorrow.'

"Of course, Impidimp goes and gets help outside of the lab." Ash said defeated. "Look, do what you want over there, I'm getting some sleep." Ash said.

"Probably for the best." Goh said, lying down in the beanbag.

Goh awoke the next day to find Ash wasn't in the room. Sunlight was beaming through the window, and the door was open.

"Yes! Powers back on!" Goh said happily, running to go see the rest of the team.

At the main lab

"So we managed to get the main security turned off, but for now we're still without power." Professor Cerise explained. "Once again, thank you for being patient Serena, once Goh gets here, we can begin."

"Take your time." Serena said, playfully messing with Ash.

"I'm here!" Goh said, almost missing the door. "I'm not late, am I?"

"Only a little." Chloe said.

"Onto business. I know it's been an odd few days, but I would like your decision team. Would you like Serena to join us?" Professor Cerise said.

"Having seen her quick thinking, and problem solving first hand, and up close. I think she could be a great asset to the team, even if she is a little rough around the edges." Chloe said. "My vote is yes."

"Goh, how about you?" Professor Cerise asked.

"I'll be honest, I haven't worked with her much, she doesn't have a flying Pokémon, nor one for water travel. Both of those will greatly limit our possibilities as a team." Goh said. "However, at one point the same was true for both me and Chloe, so I don't think those are reasons for her not to join. My vote is also a yes."

"Well then, congratulations Serena, and welcome to the team." Professor Cerise said. "We'll help you move anything you have at the Pokémon center, here to a room in the lab."

"Glad to have you as a part of it." Ash said with a smile.
