I'm actually gonna go ahead and put a NSFW tag on this chapter.

Flint Kenyte- District Two male (18)

When the announcement came I was a few stories away from the cafeteria- far enough that I very well might not be the first one. As such, I approached the door cautiously. I didn't see anyone when I walked in and was glad for it. I did want to kill everyone else but I didn't want a large and chaotic battle I hadn't been able to prepare for. I looked at the somewhat sparse pile of supplies on the table in the center of the room. I didn't really want anything in particular. I had enough food and I didn't see any armor on the table, which struck me as odd. I didn't need it anyway, since Aston had sent me a helmet, which I appreciated, and a bandanna in our gang colors, which I irrationally appreciated much more, Body armor or something would have been nice but we can't always get what we want.

How much do I have to interact to qualify as having "attended"? I just wanted to grab something and go to get the Gamemakers off my back. I settled on a can of beans. Just as I curled my fingers around it I pivoted suddenly and threw it behind me. As I did, I confirmed that the tiny noise I'd thought I'd heard was not my imagination when the can bounced off of Alysanne's face.

* again on the nose!

The can wasn't big enough to do any real damage but getting hit in an already cracked nose hurt. I paused in my advance toward Flint and cursed both the pain and the loss of surprise. Already Flint had darted around the table to get it between him and everyone else. He tossed a larger can of pineapple into an empty bag to add another weapon to the knife he was already holding ready.

Lacey came up from just behind me and paused to make sure I was all right. I nodded we both turned our attention to Flint and how to deal with him. We'd already barricaded the door to the kitchen and the only other exit was covered by Oaken and Clair. They thought they could sit in the back and let us do the dangerous stuff. I couldn't be mad at them for it- they just wanted to stay alive. But likewise they couldn't be mad at me and Lacey for wanting the same thing. Lacey and I ran around the table toward Flint, who did the obvious thing and ran ahead of us. Once he was on the side of the table facing the door he did exactly what we were hoping he'd do: run toward the door to try to get through Oaken and Clair.

This wasn't how it was supposed to go. Oaken and I had hoped Alysanne and Lacey would pin Flint between them and overwhelm him. Instead they'd gone at him together and he'd logically fled and was not coming straight toward us. It staggered me how massive and purposeful he was as he came at us like a freight train. At me, I realized with horror when his eyes met mine.

"Hey!" Oaken yelled, running to intercept him and get in front of me. Flint hit him in the face with an elbow swing almost faster than I could see it. Oaken stumbled sideways and Flint grabbed my arm and yanked me around, holding me from behind like a hostage in a movie as he brought his knife up to my throat. Oaken straightened up and held his hands out with a pleading expression, desperately trying to signal Flint that he wasn't going to attack.

Flint didn't want a hostage. He wanted a head start. I snaked my arm up before he could complete the motion. The knife sliced my palm and the base of my fingers, sending sharp pain radiating through me as I batted to get it away from my neck. He stabbed again and I knocked his arm up with mine. The knife stabbed through my cheek until it hit my teeth. I shoved out at his arm and the knife tore free, ripping a strip in my cheek.

Flint's knife ripped out of Clair's cheek, sending flecks of blood flicking through the air. I grabbed his arm in both of mine and yanked him forward with all my weight. It shifted his balance enough that Clair was able to wiggle free and dart around him. Alysanne and Lacey had been none too hasty to get to us but they were finally getting near us by then. Lacey was slightly ahead of Alysanne and came at Flint with her rapier aimed at his chest. Flint followed up on my attack by grabbing my wrist with his free arm and twisting toward Lacey as he swept at my legs. I half-fell and was half-dragged in a semicircle that sent me into Lacey's knees, toppling us both over. Lacey landed at Flint's feet on her back and he raised a leg and stomped down at her, bringing his full weight right into her solar plexus. She curled her legs to her chest and started to cough and gasp for breath as she scooted backwards out of range. Flint was drawing back a leg to kick her again when Alysanne reached him.

Flint saw me coming and fled. He couldn't flee directly out the door, since Oaken had clambered around behind him and was blocking it along with Clair, so he jumped over Lacey to use her as a barrier. She started to draw herself up as he turned to face me. He kicked out again and I flinched when I saw he'd aimed for her kidney. Her agonized shriek split the air, cutting off into heaving sobs.

I came at Flint fast and hard, aiming for an elbow-breaking strike with my fan. He countered with his improvised flail, as I'd anticipated, but I had more experience. I twisted the fan and hooked it through the fragile plastic of the bag. It shredded easily and the can fell harmlessly to the ground. Flint backed away to regroup and barely turned in time to meet Oaken when he picked up Lacey's rapier and swung it at his legs. Flint almost twirled back and to the side away from the strike and grabbed Oaken's arm before he could stop his momentum. He flipped Oaken's arm over so his palm faced the ceiling and threw him roughly to the ground in between himself and me as yet another barrier. Oaken's body fell full weight and hung entirely on his arm where Flint was holding his arm up. He gasped and rolled onto his side, clutching his arm to his chest.

Right away I knew Oaken was hurt bad. I threw myself at him as Flint drew back for a fatal neck stomp. I hit him in the side and knocked him away far enough that he missed Oaken's throat. Alysanne capitalized on the moment of non-balance to come at him with her fan. Flint countered with his knife but the common kitchen blade deflected off the heavy iron fan. Alysanne carried through her motion to get right up next to Flint to topple him. I lent my aid by dropping and grabbing both of his legs and between the two of us we brought him down. I launched myself to the side toward Oaken as Flint grabbed at me to wedge me between him and Alysanne. Alysanne immediately took up the empty space by dropping knees-first onto Flint's chest, knocking the wind out of him but not slowing him down nearly enough. I scrambled to his lower legs and pinned them down to help hold him still for Alysanne.

I brought my knife up at Alysanne's side. She leaned over and brought her arm down into mine, pinning it with her weight. I still had one free hand and used it to grab her hair and yank her to the opposite side. She cried out and awkwardly jostled to stay on me as I awkwardly jostled to get her off. If I killed her it would cut off the head of the snake. None of the others had a chance against me. That was why they were willing to ally with her at all. I corkscrewed my arm and bore it down at the floor to hopefully stretch her neck to the breaking point.

Something jostled at the base of my

I shuddered and dry-heaved. All thought of my own pain vanished. Flint was shrieking- screeching, whistling shrieking like a gut-shot rabbit. There was no trace of any higher thought in his face, just all-consuming pain. Pain from my sister Clair, whose bloody mouth was just raising from his crotch.

"Let's go!" she screamed, jumping off of Flint and yanking my to my feet by my good arm. We'd planned to slip out when everyone was distracted and this absolutely met that. Alysanne could take care of Flint in the condition he was in. And I just wanted to be nowhere near it.

One minute Flint was dangerously close to breaking my neck. The next he was bucking under me like he was being electrocuted. The frantic motion was so powerful it threw me off him entirely. I looked him over, confused at just what even had happened, and put it all together in an instant when I saw him clutching his groin and Clair jumping off of him. It was absolutely nightmarish but anything that made someone else dead kept me alive.

I shoved my shoe into the bloody wound and ground down with all my weight. Even as he shrieked with pain I couldn't imagine Flint was still fighting. I swung my fan around at the side of my head hoping- out of mercy as much as practicality- to knock him out and only succeeded in stunning him. I took the instant of recovery to pull his head up and snake my legs around his neck. I threw myself flat on my back and clenched my legs as I twisted them to either side, pinning his head in place against one and twisting it sharply as I moved the other. I grunted in pain when he slammed his knife into the side of my leg but didn't let go. A moment later I felt the resistance as his neck reached its limit and then the pop and smooth flexibility when it snapped.

They say the brain lives a few seconds after the body dies. In the last instant there was blissful release from pain. I would never fight again. That was all I'd ever wanted: a life where I didn't have to fight. I wanted to lie in the sun with my friends and just do things kids do. For a single moment I peacefully imagined it.

5th place: Flint Kenyte- Neck broken by Alysanne

Flint was something of a breakout character. At first he was just kind of there but in the middle people started hardcore rooting for him. He WAS a pretty cool character with his gang backstory that gave him skills in a natural way. He quickly became the biggest threat but in fairness, that's mostly because of the early Career breakup. If the acid rain hadn't devastated them they probably would have hunted and likely killed Flint as a target before he could ally. But maybe not, since he's pretty sneaky. Flint had the skills but what more attracted people was his humanity. He had no use for gender stereotypes and he was a genuine sort of guy. Silver's always good for a good Tribute and personally I think Flint will flourish in an All-Stars Arena where he can gather a massive alliance into something that mimics a gang and set up gang warfare in the Arena.

I didn't plan this fight to have Clair's nuclear strike, funny enough. I just had a vague idea of the four eventually overwhelming Flint after a lot of casualties. As I was writing the last few POVs the idea struck me and I had to admit that is exactly what someone would do if fighting a much stronger opponent in a guaranteed life-or-death combat and they just happened to be sitting at crotch level. Sorry to gross everyone out but the Games knows no mercy. No exceptions.
