A/N: Remember Chirstmas and Wills' aunt in chapter 51? Yes, that.
Will sat down on the porchchair next to me. We looked at each other for a moment, before turning to Dionysus, who gave the impression of being mildly amused. 'Nico told me you wanted to talk about this aunt of yours,' he said to Will. He nodded.
'Well, yes, because I think we were both more hurt by it than we thought we were.' I tried to look at him, but Will avoided eye-contact.
'Trying to repress things like that is not unusual,' Dionysus continued.
'I would not call it repression, per se.'
'Do you have a better term?'
Will shrugged. 'Don't know. Okay, we'll just keep it at repression.' he sighed.
'Alright. Before we go further…' Two glasses of juice, each with a straw, appeared in front of us. 'This is a flavour Demeter is working on.'
I looked at my glass. 'I tasted her new Pear Elderberry juice yesterday…'
'This is Raspberry mint juice.'
'Ah.' Will very carefully took a sip. I pushed my glass closer.
'So, I know that last year during Christmas, the two of you were subjected to Wills' aunts' homophobia. Did any incidents occur?
Will played with his camp necklace. 'You mean, did we attack her, or anything?'
'Among things.'
I shook my head. 'Nothing like that happened.'
'Although that might have been because I took you out of the room in time.'
I played with my straw. 'Maybe.' Will shrugged.
Dionysus tilted his head, waiting for one of us to continue.
'Are you thinking this subject is a sore spot?' It felt as if I was admitting defeat by saying that. As if I was saying that our relationship wasn't perfect.
Will swallowed. 'I think it might be. For me, aunt Natalia was a family member and... Anyway, you tend to talk bad about her.
I nodded, but I also arched my brow.
Dionysus raised his eyebrows. 'Will, do you want to say that you care about your aunt?'
'Yes,' Will muttered. 'She used to babysit me when my mother was busy. Now I am no-contact with her, and I know it is for the best, because she had some… very bad beliefs. But it feels strange. So…'
'So I should not have trash-talked her the way I did, or acted the way I did last Christmas,' I mumbled.
Will shrugged. 'Perhaps. Yet, you can't control the way you feel, and…'
'Will, I did something wrong. I should have taken better note of your feelings.'
Will stared at his glass. 'I mean...'
'Sorry, Will.'
A very tiny smile grew on his face. 'Thanks, Nico. I am sorry, too. For not telling you how I felt and for letting aunt Natalia treat you the way she did.'
'I don't want to hear that. It's not your fault.'
We were silent for some time, while we looked at each other.
'Yes.'
'Yes.' We began to laugh.
Dionysus sighed. 'So, well well. What could we have done better?'
'Communication,' we said in unison.
'Correct.'
'I already said that,' Will began. 'I said I should have told Nico how I felt.'
'True. I just wanted to emphasize it. Still, what I saw was quite impressive. After you found out what the problem was, it was dealt with quite fast.' He sighed, before adding: 'They should try that on Olympus next time.'
'Yes...'
'Anyway!' Will raised his voice. 'What I also want to say is that I tried to talk right what my aunt did. I mean…' he shook his head. 'I mean, she really called us gods' mistake and a burden on society, among other things, but I had trouble believing it. I tried to tell myself she didn't mean it, that she did not really think such awful things.' He held a hand in front of his eyes. 'My mom was the one to cut her out and I have to say I am thankful that she did, because I don't know if I would have had the strenght.' He grabbed my hand under the table.
'First of all I can confirm that you are not gods' mistake,' Dionysus said with an ironious look. I nodded. Ah yes, always nice when a god tells you that. 'Secondly, Will, do you think you have trouble seeing when someone isn't worth it anymore.'
Will looked a little uncomfortable. 'Perhaps.' He squeezed my hand under the table. 'I don't know what else to say.'
Dionysus slowly nodded. 'Nico, could you leave us for a second?'
'Huh? Eh, sure.'
Will held my hand a little longer than necessary, before I stood up and walked away.
'What…'
'Will Solace, what do you think of getting therapy yourself? Not from me, that is, but from a certified therapist who has experience with demigods?'
'Basically one of the people we have been sending flyers about?'
'Yes.'
Will thought for a moment. 'I don't know,' he muttered, 'I guess I never thought about how it could be me who needed it.' He took a sip of his juice.
'You can think about it, if you want.'
'No. Yes. I mean, I know it helped Nico. It might help me too. I think… I have been thinking about how I might be affected more by the wars and everything then I thought, because of how much aunt Natalia affected me without me noticing.'
'It isn't a rare occurence. I said that already.'
Will shrugged. 'I don't know if that's a good thing. I would not mind giving it a shot, though. Yet, I also first want to think more about it. If that makes sense.'
'Things rarely do, but this just might be logical.'
'Ah.' Will gulped down half of his glass.
'Don't get hick-ups.'
'No, no. I think I'll just go to Nico.' Will got up from his chair. 'Thanks for taking a moment to see us. I guess Nico understands me better now.' He shrugged. 'Aunt Natalia is a nasty piece of work, I know that, but…'
'It's okay, Will,' Dionysus stopped him. 'It hurts because it is a form of grief. Now go to Nico.'
'Eh, yes. thanks.' Will saluted and ran off, back to his boyfriend.
Dionysus' smile faded. There was a lot of work to do in camp. Most campers, if not all, could use mental counseling. He could feel it, and it wasn't a good feeling. He hoped to the gods that the flyering would have an effect.
A/N: Okay weird maybe but while writing this I kept getting the mental image of Dionysus without pupils. I have no idea why and it's slightly uncomfortable.
There will be a few more Will-chapters in the future, although they won't all be about that - just a few more than before, because Nico now has more time and energy to focus on that aspect of his life. Yet next chapter will be about May Castellan. Or better said, with May Castellan.
Also, I think I might just fill out the rest of the table of contents already, although I am not sure about that yet. It also means people know what to expect from this story, still. What do you Think?
