It had been four days since Nya had spray-painted those words on Wendy's apartment door, and the nurse had yet to experience any more trouble from her new neighbors. That didn't help the older woman's terrified nerves, however. Everywhere Wendy went, whether it be in the apartment building or on the streets, she was almost certain she could feel someone watching her, but every time she looked around her surroundings there was no one there.

She might have been paranoid, but she didn't know.

Hopefully, things would settle down in a few more days. As she descended the stairs to the lobby early that to collect her mail, she saw Jay was already there, flipping through the small mountain of junk mail to look for a specific letter.

"Hiya!" She greeted the only person in the apartment building who didn't give her any trouble. As soon as Jay heard her, he suddenly stuffed the mail into her various pockets, making sure she didn't see them. He wanted to ignore her and walk away, fearing that he was being disloyal to Kai by being civil to the mother of his rapist, but damn it, his parents raised him with good manners.

"Hey, how's it going?" He asked, looking very uncomfortable.

"Not too bad thanks, you know, we muddle through don't we?" She smiled weakly.

"Yeah, I take it you haven't had any more trouble?"

"Nothing I can't handle." She replied as she sorted through her own mail and saw a flyer for an Independence Day play city was putting on.

"You going to that play?"

"That's a lovely idea but I don't really think it's my thing." She sighed sadly, hoping that he couldn't tell she was lying. When Morro was a kid they used to go to all sorts of seasonal plays and have fun, sometimes even taking part. Ever since his death, however, Wendy struggled to even get up and go to work every day, never mind going to a play. She hoped that if Kai ever let her into his daughter's life then maybe she could do all things she had done with Morro during his childhood.

Only time will tell, however.

"That's fine, I'd still consider it though," Jay suggested. "It's a chance to get out and meet new people, and it's better than staying inside all day."

"Thank you." She smiled at his concern. With that said, Jay made a quick getaway and speed-walked toward the waiting elevator with Wendy watching him. The nurse suddenly paled when, for a split second, she thought she could see the raven hair and ocean blue eyes of Nya Smith. But when she blinked it was gone. Thinking she was just a little tired, Wendy went to the cafe across the street, hoping some caffeinated beverage would wake her up.

Luckily there weren't many people there this earlier in the morning so she could walk right up to the counter.

"Hi, um, could I have a cappuccino please?" She asked politely.

"Are you staying in?" The barista asked and Wendy thought about it for a moment.

"Yes, please." She replied, knowing that she didn't have to be at work for another two hours. The barista nodded and reached under the counter to grab a mug. While he was doing that, Wendy suddenly felt a presence behind her so she looked over her shoulder. She almost screamed when she saw Nya standing in line behind her, staring blankly at her. Swallowing heavily, Wendy turned back to the barista. "A-Actually, could you make that to take out?" She asked, hoping that she didn't sound too scared.

Neither the barista nor Wendy noticed the ghost a smirk flickering on Nya's face...

Kai couldn't help but feel nervous as he entered the apartment to find Skylor standing to attention in the living room as if she was waiting for him. He felt like he was back at high school and about to be scolded by the headmaster. He noticed Skylor occasionally glancing at Nya's bedroom door and he guessed that his sister was already home and had done something to upset the red-haired girl. He had a feeling this had something to do with Nya and Wendy.

Skylor and Jay were the only ones in their group that seemed to defend the nurse, much to the frustration of the others.

"What's up?" He asked, hoping he didn't sound too nervous.

"It's nothing bad." She quickly reassured him and he relaxed slightly. "I was just wondering if you think everything's alright with Nya?"

"How'd you mean?"

"Just now she walked straight past me, stormed into the bathroom, came back out again, sat alone in her room, and was just on her phone," Skylor asked, slightly irritated. "She didn't even look at me, Kai, she's not herself." She added sadly. "Have you spoken to her?"

"Not about anything in particular." He lied, frowning slightly at his sister's treatment of his best friend. The siblings hadn't told anyone of Nya's plan to drive Wendy away in fear of them trying to stop her, or worse, accidentally tell Lloyd, and then he could warn Wendy.

"Right, I think I'm gonna have a word."

"W-Why don't you let me do it?" He stammered, confusing her. "No offense, I know you both dating, and you're my best friend, but she's my little sister, she'll listen to me."

"Alright, thanks, Kai." Skylor smiled just as Nya left her room and wandered into the living room. As soon as she noticed her brother, she looked relieved.

"I've been looking for you." She told him and then saw Skylor's concerned stare. "You alright Sky?"

"Yep, of course, why wouldn't I be?" She asked nervously. "I need to go... somewhere." She said and bolted out of the apartment and bolted for the elevator before the door even closed.

"What's going on?" Nya asked as Kai sat down, his feet felt like they were killing him.

"She just wants me to have a word with you." He replied, kicking off his sneakers and propping his feet up on the coffee table, sighing in relief that the weight was off them. "She thinks something might be up."

"Nothing's up." Nya huffed.

"Then stop acting weird in front of everyone." He frowned. "She said you just walked straight past her earlier."

"Well yeah, 'cause I was distracted! I'd just seen Wendy at the cafe!" She exclaimed defensively and Kai perked up at the mention of Wendy.

"Oh, really? Did she say anything?"

"No, she's trying to act like she's not bothered, but she's not fooling anyone." She sneered. "A few more days like this, I bet she'll be long gone." She promised and Kai nodded slowly, hoping his sister was right...

Wendy smiled to herself as she led a patient through the surgery where she worked and instructed the woman to fill in some forms. Work was the only place where she felt truly safe from the seemingly ever-watching eyes of Nya Smith. The only people who could get in were doctors, nurses, and patients. They had to provide the receptionist with their names before buzzed them in. Wendy knew that Kai or his family would ever come to the GP where she worked.

While that thought made her sad, right now it also made her feel safe.

"You take care now Mrs. Morris, goodbye and have a good day." She smiled at the patient as they finished signing the forms and the nurse went to the waiting room to see who was next. As she stepped into the relative empty waiting room, she froze when she saw Nya sat in the corner. As soon as the noirette saw her, she smiled and waved and Wendy felt the last of her resolve snap like a frail stick.

"What are you doing here?!" She exclaimed, startling the other waiting patients and the lady on reception.

"That's a very stupid question if you ask me; it's a waiting room isn't it?" Nya asked innocently, looking like she was trying to keep from laughing.

"Exactly, for PATIENTS who've come to see MEDICAL staff!" She shouted angrily, not realizing that two of the doctors, one of which was her boss, enter behind her.

"I don't think she's feeling well, do you?" Nya asked the man waiting next to her, who looked very uncomfortable.

"I know you're following me!" She cried and this caused Nya to snicker lightly

"You sound paranoid."

"I'll call the police if this carries on! This is harassment!"

"Oh is it?" Nya frowned, her playful innocence vanishing in a second. "That's kind of like what you're doing to Kai then?" She hissed and Wendy winced slightly.

"Is everything okay?" One of the doctors suddenly asked, startling Wendy. She had no idea they were listening and she really hoped they would understand why she was shouting at her new stalker in the waiting room.

"Yeah, just talking weren't we?" Nya asked the nurse, who was waiting for the doctors to throw the noirette out. "No offense doctor but can we get this done." Nya suddenly asked and Wendy froze.

"Yes, of course, just follow me in." One of the doctors said and started leading the younger Smith sibling to his examination room.

"Y-You've got an appointment?" Wendy stuttered in shock.

"Yeah," Nya groaned as if it was oblivious before following the doctor inside. As soon as they were gone, Wendy's boss cleared her throat.

"Wendy, I think it might be a good idea if we had a chat in my office later." She said before calling out for her next patient. As they walked away, Wendy clenched her teeth in anger and irritation, wondering how she could have gotten it so wrong. She had been so sure that none of Kai and his family would come to her place of work, but she was just proven wrong. They knew where she worked and Nya proved they weren't scared to come here.

To make matters much worse, her boss and another doctor had just heard her shouting and threatening to call the police on a patient in the waiting room.

When it was close to closing time, Wendy was called into her boss' office and she gulped in fear of being fired. She entered the office and saw her boss and the doctor waiting for her.

"Um, I know I was a bit rude to Miss. Smith before." She said, already knowing what this was about.

"Please, just come in and take a seat, Wendy." Her boss instructed and Wendy slowly sat in the cold, plastic chair across from them.

"We feel we need to have a word with you about conduct." The doctor said and Wendy's eyes widened.

"Conduct?"

"We are fully aware that things have been very difficult for you, and we know how hard it must be dealing with certain people's behavior, but you can't be seen harassing patients." Her boss clarified, being both understanding yet firm, and Wendy paled.

"I-I haven't..."

"We can see what's going on Wendy." The doctor cut her off. "We just think that you need to find a way around dealing with things when you're at work, in a way that doesn't lead to any confrontations." He explained carefully.

"If you feel that things are getting on top of you then you can always request some time off." Her boss offered.

"I've only just started I don't need any time off."

"Well, we'd be very happy to welcome you back once things have settled down." She assured her but Wendy shook her head.

"No, that's not necessary, honestly, I'm-I'm fine; it's under control, I promise." She said and her boss shared a look with the doctor before sighing.

"Very well, but consider this a formal warning; any more problems such as this and you will be dismissed." She warned the nurse and Wendy felt her entire world shatter. Her whole career, she had never had a problem and was always the best nurse she could be. A nursing license can be suspended or revoked due to accusations of unprofessional conduct, misconduct, dereliction of duty, gross negligence, or incompetence in complaints brought by patients, coworkers, or employers.

Her job was all she had left.

If she lost her nursing license then she didn't know what she would do. Sure, she had her unborn granddaughter, but she knew that the chances of Kai letting her met the baby would be slim to none. The best she could possibly hope to get was an occasional look when they passed each other in halls or maybe a secret wave when Kai wasn't looking.

"...I-I understand." She whimpered, barely above a whisper, and after they said they were done, she all but ran to get her coat, hoping they wouldn't see her cry...

Nya felt like cracking open the champagne as she told Kai that she had seen Wendy at the surgery, just like they planned. The others were all out for the night so it was just her and Kai in the apartment, meaning they could talk about the next step. A deep, deep, deep part of Nya knew that this was wrong, but this was for Kai's benefit. They might be moving out of the apartment in a couple of months anyway, but Wendy would still be here until then.

If she stayed, Kai would be stressed for the rest of his pregnancy and they had already had at least three scares for the baby's safety.

Nya was also scared that if Wendy was still here when the baby's born then she was got more determined and continue to harass Kai when he would need peace and security to adjust to taking care of a newborn baby. Even though she wouldn't say it, getting rid of Wendy would make Nya very happy too. She had been enraged when she found out about sudden Morro's death and would not live out his punishment in prison where he belonged for what he did to her brother.

Punishing his mother was the best compensation.

In Nya's eyes, Wendy had raised that monster and if she had actually done her job as a parent then maybe things would have been very different. Instead of champagne, Nya had to settle for orange juice since her brother was heavily pregnant. As Nya prepared their drinks, Kai gently rubbed his giant baby bump, trying and failing to settle the baby as she kicked constantly. Ever since she first kicked almost a week ago, the little imp hadn't stopped.

Jay liked to joke that she was making up for the lost time since the due date was in about five or six weeks and she had hardly moved most of the pregnancy.

Kai was a mix of both relief and irritation. He was grateful that she was finally moving, but he hated that she was using his organs, mainly his bladder, like a kickboxing dummy. When Nya finished making the drinks, he thanked her and took a large gulp.

"So go on then, what did she say?" He asked, wiping his mouth.

"She accused me of following her, in front of all the other patients." Nya laughed at the memory and Kai's eyes widened.

"Really?"

"Yeah, but she soon shut up when the doctors showed up." She chuckled. "I don't think they were best impressed when she started having a go at me."

"You think she's gonna get in trouble?" He asked, not sure whether he felt happy or pity for the mother of his rapist.

"Hopefully, yeah."

"I'll be glad when this is all over." He sighed, gazing sadly at his orange juice. Nya saw this and her eyes narrowed.

"Come on big bro, we agreed we're gonna give her as good as she gave you." She said, and Kai winced. "Remember how she made you feel? In your face constantly, even in your own home?" She reminded him and his eyes narrowed, remembering how scared and stressed he was whenever Wendy showed up to harass him and his family and insist that he was lying about the rape and that Morro was innocent.

"Don't tell me you're backing out now." Nya frowned, hoping her brother was still up for making Wendy leave.

"No, I'm not; we've gotta keep going, as we promised." He said as strongly as he could, but as they finished their drinks, Kai couldn't prevent guilt from bubbling in his chest...
