This story is nearing it's end, thank goodness. Sorry I haven't come back to it in so long. Soon it will be complete and you won't have to wait any longer. Just wrapping up some loose ends. I started this story way before the series was even close to ending, so yeah. This is also one of my first stories, so this is a bit of wish fulfillment on my part. Soon I can move on from this, but this was still a wild ride. Thanks for sticking to it for this long! Enjoy.
We arrived back on Berk safely, and Stoick and Gobber were waiting for us.
"I see you managed to get Ella and Jenna back alright," said Stoick.
"As well as some others," mentioned Gobber noticing our brother.
"Hi," said Sac. "I'm Sac; I'm new around here and to all of this."
"He's a trader, but he also is the reason the Outcasts knew about us," explained Jenna.
"Sorry, but I was proud of my little sisters who could see the future."
"What!?" exclaimed everyone from Berk; Jenna face-palmed.
"There you go again, Sac, being a blabbermouth." She turned to face everyone. "Ella and I can see the future sometimes, as well as…the present? We get visions about things that may concern us, little warnings in our dreams as well as visions of what other people might be doing. We can't control them. If we ever had visions of you guys it was never intentional."
Everyone took a moment to breathe that in.
"You can…see the future," said Hiccup.
"No wonder the Outcasts wanted you," said Astrid.
"You're like a spy," said Snotlout.
"Snotlout, she just said they can't control it," said Astrid exasperated.
"They could be spies if you think about it," said Ruffnut. "I mean, they can see the future and the present."
"All Alvin would have to do is threaten their lives if they get a surprise attack so they would constantly be on the lookout for surprise attacks in their visions," added Tuffnut. "It's simple really."
"Well then," said Stoick. "We should be lucky you got away from them when you did."
"I question how you were able to train a Night Fury so easily Ella," said Fishlegs. "It wasn't so easy for Hiccup."
"Well…I…uh," I stammered.
"We have this ability for things to come easily to us," said Jenna, "like Dragon Training, or Berk life."
"Oh yeah," said Sac. "When they were growing up, they picked up on new skills really fast growing up. It was almost scary."
"So that's how you were able to train a Night Fury," said Astrid.
"And you probably found one through your visions," added Hiccup. I nodded.
Hiccup was always a logical guy; this was probably hard to wrap his head around. I was wondering if we should tell them that we can talk to Dragons as well, seeing as we were telling them everything else; that might just make their brains explode.
"Ella," noticed Hiccup. "You've been strangely quiet." I went back to grinning like an idiot and giggling.
"That…was…AMAZING!" I laughed. "I can't believe we just did that!"
"Really, it's every week for us," said Snotlout.
"Believe me," I said. "I know! I always wanted to be a part of that."
"What do you mean?" asked Fishlegs. I got off Star and petted her, nuzzling her. It was the moment of truth.
"I've always known about you guys, even before I came here. I've lived a very lonely life, if people weren't ignoring me, they were laughing at me because of how odd I was. I didn't feel like I belonged anywhere. Then, I found out about you guys. Life was always hard for you, fighting dragons all the time…it was especially hard for you Hiccup…you didn't feel like you belonged. It was a lot like how I felt in my ordinary life. Hiccup, you inspired me. You found a place for yourself and changed the world, not from attacking your problem head on like I wanted to do, but from uniting everyone on a common ground. That gave me hope for myself, and made me happy to be who I was. I owe you my life and my happiness. I wanted to meet you and shake your hand; I wanted to hug you, because you are amazing. To experience your life in my own way, that was my wish. Thank you for making it a reality." I hugged him. After some hesitation, he hugged me back. I released, and there were some tears in my eyes.
"You huge sap," said Jenna. This wasn't as big for her as it was for me; I guess I could forgive her for that comment.
"I see you made a name for yourself already, Son," said Stoick, proudly.
"Well of course he did," said Astrid, punching him on the shoulder. "He's Hiccup after all."
"Now that's odd," said Gobber, looking up into the sky. "Why is there a star out in the day time?" I looked, and wouldn't you know it, there was a star.
"My wish came true," I said.
"Huh," said Gobber.
"The adventure is now over," I said sadly. "I got to really experience the world of Dragons, with Jenna of course."
"What do you mean?" said Hiccup. I looked at him and smiled.
"I had fun meeting you."
"You're leaving?" said Astrid.
"There's nothing else we can do," I said.
"Yeah, I'll need to recover a boat before I can be a trader again," said Sac.
"Take care, Sac." I said wistfully.
"I'm going to Cretse with you; I need to check how mom and dad are doing."
"I'd like to say we're going with you but that's not the truth."
"What do you mean?" asked Sac.
"We're going home, aren't we?" said Jenna.
"Yes Jenna," I said. "We are."
"What are talking about?" said Sac. "How are you going home, but not going to Cretse?"
"It's difficult to understand," I said. "Where Jenna and I are from, these events are nothing but stories. Stories I idolize and wanted to be a part of because I didn't like my life back there. At the same time I didn't want to leave Jenna. I made a wish on a Star to come here, meet you, ride dragons with you…The experience is over."
"So that's what you were talking about sometimes," said Star. "You really felt like you fit in here though."
"It seemed that way didn't it," I said.
"Wait," said Hiccup. "Do you understand what the dragons are saying?"
"What!?" said everyone.
"To be honest we didn't know until we actually met the Dragons," said Jenna. "We were just really good at guessing where we were from."
"You should have told us," said Stoick.
"It would have been so useful to know what they were saying," said Astrid.
"You guys are so close with your dragons, you don't actually need us," I said.
I approached Sac. "I'm sorry we're not going back with you."
"You're still my sisters; I remember growing up with you."
"That's our life here, but it's not really our life…it's just a backstory." He sighed.
"I've been separated from you for years; I guess this further separation won't kill me." I hugged him and Jenna ran in for a hug as well.
"Tell Mom and Dad we'll be alright, so they don't worry."
"I will."
Sac got on Suntrail and then flew off, looking back at us and knowing he'll probably never see us again.
"What about us?" said Viola.
"You can get to know Spinewhip some more, he seems eager."
"I'd rather go with you," said Viola to Jenna.
"There are no dragons where I'm from," said Jenna. "You'd be better off here. Besides I haven't had you for that long, it should be easy to get back to your old life."
"It's not so easy," said Toothless. "If you really know of us and our lives, you would know of how fast Hiccup and I bonded."
"Not really," I said. "It wasn't that specific."
"It only took a couple weeks for Hiccup and I to be inseparable. Don't abandon your dragons, please."
"We don't have a choice," I said. "I doubt anything from this place will come with us when we leave."
"So I will just hang around here then, getting to know Toothless, waiting for you to never return," said Star.
"I wouldn't Star," I said tearing up. "With everything that will happen, it will be safer for everyone if you're not here. I want to lessen the target Berk already has."
Star being around would wreck the Canon. I'm basically sending her to her doom by exhiling her, but with Dagur and Alvin, and Viggo and Ryker and Krogan, and Drago and Grimmel all targeting Hiccup's Night Fury, it would be safer if she left.
"Will people come here for Toothless?" said Hiccup.
"Yes," I said solemnly. "There will also be those that come for the people. You have many enemies and that's life. You're Vikings, it's an occupational hazard."
"You could stay, and we could teach you how to fight," said Astrid.
"It'd be nice to have an extra Night Fury," said Fishlegs.
"It'd be more firepower," said Snotlout.
"And you can see the future," said Tuffnut.
"And talk to dragons," said Ruffnut.
"Having you around would be useful," said Stoick.
"And so cool," said Tuffnut. I shook my head.
"Us being here would be an extra target for you guys' backs. Besides, this isn't our life, it's not our world." I looked at them all. "There's a reason I admire you, and that's because you guys are perfectly fine on your own…without us."
Jenna smiled. She was dragged her against her will, but I'm hoping she had fun. Now she was ready to go home. Jenna hugged Viola's snout, while I nuzzled Star.
"Take care," said Jenna.
"I will miss you," I told Star. I looked at the others. "All of you.
I then took Jenna's hand and we walked to the edge of the cliff, gazing up at the star. We started to say the words:
"Star light, Star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight…I wish…"
In my head, I said, "To go back home, but not to forget this adventure." I closed my eyes, and felt myself being carried away, holding Jenna's hand.
I know I should write better as I'm nearly done university at this point, but old habits die hard. All that's left is the epilogue, so stay tuned until then!
