Interview room

Eames managed to smoke out Roy's alibi. A 5'4" blonde with cherry red nails and an uncooperative attitude. Roy's Ex-wife, who divorced him and took out a restraining order.

Goren hoovered over a filing cabinet, watching and taking notes. Ex-wife for an alibi that's balsy and the way she talked up their sex, Roy gave her the notes of what he wanted her to say. He was controlling down to his alibi. What a guy!

"Nice try. Anybody could pay cash," Eames barked out, "We need proof you were with Roy."

"Ask the room next to ours they must have heard us. Catch my meaning, Bullwinkle?"

Goren peeked up, looking from over the filing cabinet. Bullwinkle. That was definitely not a name he was used to being called by. He was thrown off balanced. She probably did that intentionally. She was terrified.

Eames couldn't help a small smile when she turned back to face her again. "Roy is your Ex. Isn't he? The one you took out a restraining order against"

"So, he went a little coocoo one night. We were meant to be together. We just can't be together."

"Maybe you're here cause you're still afraid of Roy," Goren piped up, noting that Roy was very much still in control of their relationship. It was possible she wasn't here on her own accord. The words were his not hers.

"You got Roy all wrong. He knows how to make a woman purr." She directed toward Eames.

Oh is that one for me? I guess, he didn't like my little comment about his little manhood.

"Okay, but you have to swear on your mother this doesn't end up on youtube."

"You have a sex tape with Roy?

"With a date and timestamp."

"Yeah, but those can be faked, right Trina?"

"The ballgame was on the whole time, we are both huge Mets fans."

Goren grabbed the tape with a prissy expression touching on the corners.

Eames just gave him a you kidding me look. You realize they didn't actually have sex on the tape. Normally, she would have said it out loud but he hadn't earned her teasing quip so she kept it to himself. The man has touched eyeballs, boils, and dead flesh but a tape that's where he draws the line.

Of course with the alibi, they had to let him go. Back to the drawing board. They caught a break when a text came in from Avery's phone. That led them to the airport where the phone was trashed and Woody's car was in the lot. In the car, they found that it had been cleaned aside from a couple loose mala beads with a splatter of blood on them.

This missing person's case was taking a turn for the worse. "Entry ticket to the lot. Car came in at 4 around the time of Avery's text," Eames informed.

"Let's assume DNA puts Avery's blood on the beads. What makes Romeo kill Juilet?" Ross questioned.

"ATM video. It looked like Avery was getting cold feet at the last minute," Eames replied.

"Was he that in love with her?"

Goren couldn't help but get distracted. He was frustrated this case turned around so many times they could have whiplash. The evidence was in front of them and the answers were there; they just weren't seeing them. He was scowling in deep thought, biting the inside of his cheek. Then, the captain asks the question and yes it was referring to Woody but Goren thought about it.

Goren tried to be as deferrant to her as possible, showing Eames she was just as important as him and just as capable. Not that she needed to be reminded that she was capable but she needed to know that he knew and believed her to be capable.

She wanted me to see her value, yes but she wanted me to value her as well. I had some errors in judgement. I panicked and acted selfishly. This morning, she asked me to quit. She wasn't really asking me to quit. Not really, it was more than that. She wants to know when it was the job and her on the line that I would choose her. I hadn't. That hurt her. Now, she is distant and daring me to put her over the job. Could I? Was I that in love with her that I could hand in my papers or ask for a transfer. Was she all that mattered? I hadn't thought about her when I made my decision, last time. But now, I had to because my decision relied on that answer.

"Kathy was pressuring him to have a baby and Avery was his way out. If she bailed on him, he might have snapped," Eames proffered.

"And then he waits 5 days to run? Why?" Goren was getting grumpy.

"He has no reason to flee not as long as Roy is a suspect," the Captain argued.

"Well then, where has he been hiding? Half the NYPD is out there looking for him." He hated having to work with the Captain right now. He was clouded by his feelings for Kathy. He was stopping them every step of the way with defensive quips. That and Eames still jabbed him with sharp comments. Welcome back Goren. No appreciation for me being back.

"He's handsome and charming. He has a car, cash, and jewelry. I'm sure he can take care of himself."

Goren couldn't help letting his annoyance slip out, "No, actually I think he's more used to letting people take care of him, Sir. Any chance, Kathy has a beach house she hasn't told us about?"

Eames knew where this was going. It was their holding pattern, after all. She pinched the bridge of her nose.

"She's not harboring him if that's what you're suggesting."

"You checked?"

"Detective, you're out of line!"

"Am I, Captain? We don't know if he is a missing person or a murder suspect."

Goren must have touched a nerve because Captain Ross was becoming hostile, "He stole his wife's money. He staged a carjacking. And now, his lover's blood turns up in a car at JFK. This isn't a leap!"

After she let them both get it out of their systems, she was not about to join in; she put out her arms palms up. She huffed out a breath, "Moving on?"

Goren nodded.

"If Woody is on the run, there is no record of him taking a flight or using his credit cards since he disappeared," she continued theorizing.

"Could have stolen an identity. What do we have on Woody? I take it he doesn't have a record."

"No, at 23, he barely has a footprint. He got his driver's license four years ago. The first tax return he filed was a joint one with Kathy."

"Maybe, what it says isn't what it says. We know that he lied to her about Avery. Maybe, he's lied to her about more than that," Goren lifts his head "Or am I out of line?"

"I'm sure these questions have occurred to Kathy. I'll go over there and ask her about.."

"Uh With all do respect, Captain. It's our turn," Eames objected.
