Lila was shopping at the exclusive Rodeo Drive area in Beverly Hills. She wasn't alone, Brooke and Cara were with her. Jessica and Elizabeth couldn't come, they were taping scenes at the studio where The Young and the Beautiful were taping. Both twins asked for time off, they wanted to attend the reunion. So the producers switched the schedules around so the twins could tape their pivotal scenes.
Lila couldn't wait. She was planning on attending the reunion, and announcing her pregnancy. Of course, it was tacky to announce it at a private party, but she got permission from Grace, Ellen and Mary. Her engagement was already known, she and Bruce posted it all over social media. She lost count of the many hearts and likes on both Facebook and Instagram.
It was getting hard to hide her pregnancy, so she wore clothing to hide her growing belly. Baggy clothes, huge handbags, and her countless belts and scarves. She was here to buy an expensive outfit for the party, something in a deep purple. Lucky for her, purple was in. Besides, she had to outshine Rachael who already had a insta of her outfit. That outfit was exclusive to the Valentino limited edition line, so Lila had to get something even more expensive to outdo her rival. Luckily her father gave her his credit card. Lila didn't need his money, she was almost as wealthy as him, thanks to her own hard work, but she appreciated it. Hopefully he didn't mind the cost.
"Where to? Prada, Chanel, Valentino?" Brooke asked. She didn't care, she had a closet full of clothes. But agreed to go shopping with Lila. Besides, she could check out for any bridesmaid dresses. Something in black.
Cara tuned out the two women discussing who's favourite designer. She was too stressed about the trial. It was two weeks away. She had to figure out what to do or to say. If she doesn't do the right thing, Nelson will walk. But what can she say? She didn't speak Italian. She should have, but didn't. She didn't bother. She forced herself to forget about the trail. This was supposed to be a fun shopping trip. At least for Brooke and Lila. She couldn't afford anything here. At least she was invited. She was Jessica's date. Jessica couldn't find a date in time, so she asked Cara. Cara agreed, besides she was looking forward to meeting Johnny Buck.
"How about here?" They stopped in front of Cartier's.
"I don't need any jewellery. Bruce bought me plenty." Both Brooke and Cara had to force themselves not to roll their eyes. Lila was always spoiled, but dating Bruce, and after getting engaged, she was even worse. Bruce spoiled her rotten.
"Not for you. For Winston. I have to buy him his wedding ring." Winston was giving her his Grandma's band for her wedding ring, so Brooke had to buy his.
"When's the wedding?" Cara asked. She tried not to think of her own failed engagement. She dreamt about getting married in Italy with Marco.
"We were thinking October. At first I was thinking about December, but Denise..." She knew that was something Winston didn't like to talk about. She didn't blame him, she wasn't a Christmas fan herself. Her mom rarely called to wish her a Merry Christmas.
"October? I know plenty of vendors and halls. I know one of Daddy's business partners will give you a discount at his hotel."
"What about you Lila? When are you and Bruce tying the knot?" Cara asked politely. She tried not to feel depressed hearing about their upcoming weddings.
"I was thinking June of next year. I want our baby to feel comfortable. Of course he or she will be practically a newborn, but we do want our child to be a ringbearer or flower girl." Lila was excited to plan her wedding. She already chosen a designer. It is the same designer that made Kate Middleton's wedding dress. She was under hot demand, luckily her family had connections. She wanted to get married at Fowler Manor, it was her dream. She knew what kind of wedding she wanted, she wanted to have a French Couture theme, something very classy and timeless. Nothing like Bruce's idea, he wanted to hold the wedding in the east coast in the Hamptons with a old fashioned BBQ and fireworks for the reception. Yuck. Winston rubbed off of him too much.
"Pick any names?" Cara tried to distract herself, but hearing about baby names made her even more depressed. She walked in the store with her two friends.
They were immediately approached by a salesman.
"Good afternoon ladies. Welcome to Cartier's. How may I help you?"
Lila walked away from Brooke and Cara who were discussing wedding bands. She didn't need to look from rings, her and Bruce were using their families' wedding bands. Lila was giving her step great-grandfather's wedding ring, according to her mom, she was her great grandma's one true love. Bruce was giving her his mom's wedding ring. Lila didn't care, Marie and Hank had good taste. She was too busy looking at rings she didn't see a little boy and almost tripped.
"Excuse me!" Lila was indignant. She was annoyed. She could have fell and hurt herself. Immediately a wealthy looking woman came rushing over apologizing to Lila.
"I'm so sorry Lila. Oliver was standing next to me."
Lila smiled warmly at Susan (Stewart) Stoddard. They were rivals in high school, but slowly became friends at SVU. Susan transferred there during junior year and became good friends with Lila after Jessica dropped out. She didn't join any sororities in college, she was too busy running her film club. Like Bruce and Brooke, she worked in Hollywood as a producer. Jackson Croft, her famous director father worked side by side with her. When Susan's husband walked up, Lila smiled a tight smile at him. Even after that shit Susan went through she dumped her nerdy boyfriend Allen Walters after high school for that stuck up Gordon Stoddard. Even after all those years was still bitter about the Bridgewater Ball.
"Good to see you Lila. My god. You are still breathtaking." Gordon was looking at Lila with a lustful expression. Lila wanted to vomit. Gordon was well known to be a ladies man and a sleaze. What Susan saw in him, Lila had no idea.
"Hello Gordon." She made a show of showing off her engagement ring. Letting Gordon know she was taken. Susan squealed seeing her ring.
"Are you and Bruce?"
"Yes."
"Oh my god. Lila!" She hugs Lila. Funny, they disliked each other in high school, but were good friends in college. They lost touch after college graduation, both went their own ways. But followed each other on social media. Seeing Brooke, she squeals as well. "Brooke! I heard! You and Winston? Oh my god! Cara! Hi!"
Soon all four women were talking about old times. Little Oliver was bored. Whenever his mom talked, it was like he didn't exist. As for his dad, he was looking at watches. Bored, he plays with his gaming system.
Soon all four walk out laughing.
"You and Winston. Lila and Bruce. Your high school selves would have heart attacks." Susan joked.
"Winston was worth waiting for." Brooke said dreamily. Lila held herself back from snorting. Both Denise and Brooke were very overprotective of Winston. Neither liked Winston being made fun of.
"Bruce changed a lot since SVH. You should have seen him when we crashed. He changed for the better. Besides, he runs two successful companies now." Bruce admitted he wasn't sure what career path to take. Become head of Patman Enterprises, or run his movie company. Both were highly successful. As for Lila, her father was in talks to retire. He wanted to move on and concentrate on his upcoming grandchild.
Cara said nothing. Her life was in shambles. She was embarrassed to hang out with the three women when her own life was in the toilet. Thankfully, Susan had to leave.
"It was great seeing you guys. Oliver honey, lets go. Bye!"
All three wave goodbye.
"Susan is doing good." Cara remarked.
"If only Gordon wasn't a slut. He's having a affair with one of the extras in his wife's TV series." Brooke remarked. "What? This is Hollywood. I seen it all."
"Bruce won't do that. Unlike Gordon, he isn't a sleaze."
"Neither is Winston."
"Anyways." Cara was getting tired. "I need to go home. I want to pick out my outfit for the party tomorrow." She didn't know some of the Unicorn Club members, but was looking forward to the party. She was wearing a purple scarf to honour the party theme.
None of the women see the guy across the street watching with binoculars. He put down his binoculars when his phone rang.
"Yes sir, she is out and about." He nods at the voice on the other end. "You got it." He takes out his camera and takes pictures of Cara. She was his next target.
