Chapter 55 – Telling Han!
Luke was leaving the ice cream store. For the past week, Ines was begging him to buy the new ice cream that she saw in a new promotion: The Green Saber which was a new Ice Cream with peppermint and chocolate. Today she woke up craving that all morning and he decided that when he left the Temple that afternoon, and before he was heading home he would pass by the store and buy that. Reaching the 33 weeks, the date of due was getting closer and he sensed she was getting nervous and deep inside he was too.
He was so focus on going home and make that surprise to his very pregnant wife, that he didn't even heard someone called his name.
"Hey Luke"
Turning around he smiled when he saw his two great friends
"Han, Chewie" he said and hugged them "When did you arrived?"
"A few hours ago. We just left the supplies we brought."
"So you didn't see Leia yet?" Luke asked him
"No. I was actually going to see her. Why? Is everything okay?" Han asked him
"Yes, of course everything is fine. Why wouldn't it be?" Luke said.
"I don't know, the way you asked if I saw Leia, it sounded like something was wrong"
Luke rolled his eyes
"Why you always think something went badly, my friend." he smiled "It is just she missed you a lot. So she will be very happy to see you"
"I missed her too. By the way your planet, continue to be the depressing desert planet since the last time we saw it"
Luke laughed at that.
"Thanks for the kind words. Either way it is still my home and it still exists. Leia and Ines don't have theirs. So that gave me a new perspective about it."
Hen nod and Chewie growled. It was true. Leia and Ines didn't have that chance anymore.
"What is that?" Han looked at Luke's hand who looking at it, he remembered right away
"Oh shoot. I have to go home right now before this thing starts to melt." he said and started walking being followed by Han and Chewie.
"What is it?"
"It is a new ice cream that Ines was craving all morning, so I decided to make her a surprise."
Han looked at the cup and read.
"The Green Saber?" he frown and looked at Chewie who growled "Is that some kind a tribute to your lightsaber? It is green!"
Luke looked at it.
"I don't know. But I don't think so. My lightsaber was not the first green in the galaxy, Han" he laughed.
Once they reached the building they entered in the elevator. Han left first while Luke left of the last floor.
Once he entered inside, Ines looked behind from the couch.
"Hey gorgeous" she smiled
"Hey, I got something for you" he said smiling and showing the ice cream cup
"No, Luke, you are the best husband in the galaxy" she clapped her hands and grabbing the cup, she took the spoon and ate it, closing her eyes. "This is soo good, you have no idea"
"Can I taste please?"
Ines looked at him and then to her belly
"What do you think baby, do you think this guy deserve to eat a little bit of the ice cream. After all he brought it to us?" she asked making Luke laughed when he saw a movement on Ines belly, making her laughed "Did you see that? It was his foot"
Luke kneel in front of her and lifting Ines shirt, revealing her belly, he touched it and he saw his son foot kicking.
"Hey little guy" he said kissing her belly
"He knows your voice. He is being kicking the first moment you spoke" she smiled making Luke smile and looked at her belly
"One day I will tell you how I met your mother and our love story and that you are the result of our love for each other" he said kissing her belly again.
"I think you deserve a little bit of the ice cream after that" she laughed and gave a little bit to Luke
"Wow that is good"
"I told you" she smiled
"I forgot to tell you: Han arrived today. He is in the building" Luke said sitting next to her, but kept rubbing Ines belly.
Ines gasped
"Oh, so do you think Leia will tell him the big news?" she smiled widely
"I think she will" he smiled as Ines gave him another spoon of ice cream.
"How do you think he will react?"
"Shocked that's for sure, but he loves Leia, so I'm sure he will be happy"
"You were" she smiled "Besides he was lucky. He didn't get her pregnant of the first night like someone I know"
Luke laughed
"Will you ever stop with that. It is not my fault that you are so damn fertile"
Ines laughed at that
"Fair enough" and leaned in and kissed him, wondering what was going on the downstairs
Leia and Han's apartment:
Han and Chewie entered in the apartment being greeting by 3PO
"General Solo! Chewbacca! So glad to see you back. Mistress Leia was really missing you"
"Yeah Yeah. Where is she?"
Before the protocol droid could speak, Leia came from inside and the moment she saw Han, she ran towards him and hugged him
"Han. Thank Goodness you are back"
Han was a little surprise by that reaction. Normally Leia was happy to see him when he was away on missions, but never like that.
"What is going on?" he asked facing her "You're trembling. Are you alright?"
Leia looked at Chewie and 3PO
"Can we talk alone?"
Han frown and nod
"Excuse us" Leia told and grabbed Han's hand and head inside to their bedroom.
"Leia what is going on? Luke asked me if I had being with you today?"
"You saw Luke? Did he tell you something?" she asked nervously. If Luke told Han before her, heads will going to roll.
"No, but I know Luke for along time to know when he is hiding something. What is going on? Are you sick?"
Leia sighed and sat down on the bed
"No, I'm not sick."
"Than what is it?" he said sitting next to her "You can tell me. You know I can handle anything"
Leia smirked at him
"I don't think you can handle this, knowing you so well"
"Why?" he asked with a frown
"Because we never talked about this and I don't know what your reaction will be."
"Leia, we are together for so long. I love you, you know that. I may not be like Luke with Ines, but we both know those two are different from the normal couples. But I do love you and you know it. If I didn't love you, do you think I was ready to step aside, when I thought you were in love with Luke?"
Leia remembered that day and still shook her head.
"I still can't believe you said that, knowing Luke and Ines were together."
"The last thing I wanted was to force you to be with me. I love you so much to the point of stepping aside, even knowing that would make me sad. I'm not the type of guy that act all lovey dovey in front of everyone like the two upstairs, but I do love you Leia"
Leia smiled at him.
"Thanks for saying that Han. It made the news I have to say to you so much easier"
"Why?" he looked at her
"Because I was scared that you didn't take the news that well"
Han was getting worried. What did she had to say to him that was so scary for her?
"Leia, tell me, what is going on?"
Leia sighed.
"I'm 4 weeks pregnant" she said waiting for his reaction being standing up and ran away but what he did was what she was not expecting. Pulling her into a hug, he then kissed her "Are you okay with that?"
"Why wouldn't I be okay, knowing that the woman I love is caring a part of me inside her?"
Leia eyes filled with tears
"Leia, I feel blessed."
"I love you" she said
"I know"
And they hugged and kissed. He would be a father. Now he knew what Luke felt all this time: proud and special.
So Leia told Han she was pregnant. What did you guys think of Han's reaction? And why Leia was so scary to tell him that?
