Total Drama Kart part 1
Last time on Total Drama, Tyranny of the Masses, we have a cool challenge. And with cool I mean literally sub-zero temperatures, snow and ice included. We went all the way to show DAM power and created our own small icy mountain, Mount McLean, in the middle of the island.
Our contestants had to climb the dangerous and fancy named mountain, and the first 3 to reach the summit got immunity. We had all kinds of dangerous and exciting situations: avalanches, fallings, and even a sister's reconciliation. If I knew a mountain would make such a good challenge, I would use it before. On the screen are shown images of World Tour, Revenge of the island, and Pahkitew island different mountain challenges. Ok, maybe we used that before.
In the end, Mike "mountain goat," Lilly "The slippery" and Samey "carried by the goat" were the 3 fortunate winners while the rest stayed in the cold and had a chance to be eliminated. And the one going home was the evil twin sister Amy. It seems that there is no way for the older sister to go further in the competition than the younger one.
But hold your horses and warm up your engines because today we'll have another exciting challenge, so make your bets. How will Samey react to her sister's elimination? Will Brick face Heather after the small avalanche incident? And will Chef stop complaining after lending us the equipment for this challenge? Find out here in Total Drama Tyranny of the Masses
It was already morning. She woke up before Charlotte or Heather. After stretching up, she looked around the cabin, wishing yesterday was a nightmare, but it wasn't. Amy wasn't there anymore.
The redhead went out of her bed and put on her cyan dress. After getting ready, she exited the room and smiled at the sight of the sun illuminating the island as if its warmth was trying to comfort her.
Lilly then walked absentmindedly. She felt terrible. Amy was a horrible person, she abused her sister and was selfish and vain, or that was she and probably everyone who watched the Pahkitew island season thought.
But to her, she was a friend. Not only Amy defended her and talked when she was too shy to raise her voice. She trusted her, not even her parents trust her unconditionally like she did. Even if she was a slowpoke and weak, Amy made her part of her schemes and assigned her tasks.
And how did she paid her? She stole her immunity. She cheated using Max's advice and got first to the goal. She just betrayed the person who helped the most on the island.
The treehugger sat at a tree's foot and began to cry. She didn't know what else to do. Mike somehow knew she cheated and hated her, and Charlotte also shunned her. Should she vote for herself in the next elimination?
"Are you alright?" someone asked her. Lilly didn't hear them got closer.
She looked up and was shocked when she found a guy offering her a handkerchief.
"C-cody, what are you doing h-here?" asked Lilly, looking at him with red eyes.
"I hear you sobbing and got worried," replied the brunette guy, sitting at her side. "So tell me, why are you crying?"
There was a small silence. The treehugger dried her tears, trying to find the correct words while he waited patiently.
"A-amy was eliminated and it's my fault," Lilly said, her voice cracking up. "It s-should be me and not her."
"Don't say that. It's nobody's fault. That's just the kind of game we're playing," replied Cody making a sad smile. "If you were the one eliminated yesterday, the ones sad would be Amy and I instead of you," Lilly blushed at that words, and Cody continued. "But in the end, only one can win, so don't blame yourself."
Lilly blinked nervously. "Y-you would miss ME."
"Of course, you're my number one fan on the island," he said, winking. "And if you feel like that, then you have the responsibility to do your best to win the competition. For you and for Amy."
"There is no way someone like me can win," replied Lilly looking sadly at the ground.
He chuckled. "You should stop belittling yourself like that. If you try, you have a chance to win. If you give up, you don't have any chance." He then stood up and offered her a hand. "Come with me. We need to eat some breakfast."
She hesitated but then took his hand, standing up and walking with him toward the mess hall. Cody just wanted to cheer her up, but in the end he also had a great time with her.
Confessional: Lilly
"Cody's right. I should at least try. If Amy was here, she would tell me to stop whining and stand on my own feet," she said in a serious tone, nodding. "So I'll do it, I'll do my best to win."
At the entrance of the forest, Another person was thinking about yesterday's elimination while doing her daily training. Her face was neutral, as she did her best to do her routine without using her arm.
"You seem to be on fire today cheerleader," said Duncan, walking toward her, carrying a sack.
The twin glared at him. "You have some nerve to talk to me after your plan failed and my sister was eliminated."
"Wow, wow, wow. Stop with the accusations, I told you it has a 50/50 chance of working, and sadly it didn't work," said Duncan raising his hands defensibly. "Also, I didn't know you care so much about your sister."
She raised an eyebrow unamused and took a deep breath before talking again. "Well, our plan failed, so what's next?"
"First, we need to change your bandages," he said, opening the sack. "We need to do both arms. After all, you also hurt your shoulder, and it's better to be safe than sorry."
"Ok. You never stop to surprise me," said the twin sitting at a tree stump and helping him taking off her bandages.
Duncan smirked. "I'm smart, cunning, and a nice person. Quite a catch, right cheerleader? Better than the pretty boy."
"He's still better than you and more handsome," said the twin, smirking back at him. "But you're a solid 5th place."
"Fifth? At least say second, you hurt my feelings," replied the delinquent, then both laughed.
After they stopped, she sighed. "Maybe I went too far blaming you for my sister's elimination. It was just frustrating to be separated just when we reconciled."
"Don't sweat about that. I understand. Even if I look like this, I also have a heart," he said, pointing at himself. "And about what now, I'll try to keep Lilly and Mike vote while you keep tabs with Heather's alliance. That way, we can try to control 7 of the remaining 9 votes."
The twin rubbed her chin. "I don't think we can control Heather's vote."
"We don't need to control it. As long as we know who is voting who, we can try to turn the votes and at least avoid elimination," replied the delinquent, smirking.
"That didn't work yesterday," replied the twin squinting at him.
He shrugged. "That's because that e-gamer should have voted against us. But don't worry, we just need to focus. Even then, try to win immunities, just to be on the safe side."
"Your discourse wasn't that bad, but you just ruin it with that last part," said Sammy laughing.
"That's part of my charm," replied Duncan, also laughing.
Neither of them realized that someone was watching them from the shadows, walking away after hearing their conversation.
Confessional: Sammy
"Ok, I'm not sure if Duncan's plan will work after what happened to my sister. But there is no use in regretting it now. I should focus on the competition and do my best to win," said Sammy flexing her arm. She then wondered. "Am I being too optimistic?"
After lunch, Brick was looking for Heather. He couldn't find her in either the tables behind the cabins or the girls' cabins. He then looked for her in the forest and then at the beach.
Finally, he found her. She was enjoying the sun while caressing a necklace. It was a necklace familiar to the cadet.
"Hello ma'am," said Brick, trying to not show any emotion in his greeting.
The Queen Bee was startled, and in a quick movement, put the necklace on her pocket. "What the hell are you doing? Can't you make some sound before shouting like that?"
"Sorry ma'am, I didn't mean to startle you," replied Brick rubbing his neck. "Was that Alejandro's necklace?"
"Of course not! Why would I have that guy's necklace?" she then took a necklace with the shape of a bee from her pocket. "See, mine it's a bee, not a bull."
Brick looked at the necklace, yes it has the same color, and it was probably from the same material, but he was sure this wasn't the one Heather was caressing. He decided to not pursue the matter.
"Sorry my mistake," replied the cadet, who was still gathering the courage to confront her.
"Don't worry," said Heather making a small smile. "And what do you want? Looking for a new alliance now that the nasty twin is out of the game?"
"No ma'am, I'm not looking for an alliance, and she wasn't nasty," replied Brick coldly. "I wanted to ask you about yesterday's challenge."
Heather rolled her eyes. He was exactly as her friend told her. "Yesterday challenge? Yes, we work well together as a team, but you said you didn't want to make an alliance."
"It's not about an alliance. Yesterday Cody and Charlotte talked to me. It seems they were almost caught in a snowslide during the challenge," said Brick, studying her reactions carefully.
"Yes, I think Cody mentioned something like that," replied Heather putting a finger on her cheek.
He frowned. "It seems it was a really small landslide, the kind that seems provoked."
"Oh, that's terrible," replied the Queen Bee in a fake shocked tone, "So? Do you want to ask me if I saw anything yesterday?"
"No, the mysterious part was that they went and looked for signs of what provoked the landslide. And it seems that they found my footprints in the snow. But only my footprints," said Brick in a cold tone.
She tried to remain composed, but a small smirk betrayed her. "So, do you want to tell them you didn't do it? Because we were together all the time, so I can vouch for you."
The cadet shook his head. "No, ma'am, the weird part is that there were no signs of your footprints anywhere, and as you say, we were together all the time. How could that happen?"
"Who knows, maybe they found a different pair of footprints. It was snowing after all. Also, I don't know what it's your problem. Nobody was hurt, and you didn't do it, so why you care about it?" Said Heather tossing her braid and smiling at him.
"Nobody else uses that kind of boots among the campers. And I care because it seemed someone is trying to frame me for the snowslide," replied Brick looking fiercely at her. "I just hope whoever is doing this stops with the dirty tricks."
Heather chuckled. "Hahaha, I'm sure you're just overthinking, but don't worry, maybe that person heard you and will play nice and friendly the rest of the game. It's not as if we're competing for a million dollars."
"There is no need to say it like that," replied the cadet, upset by the Queen bee attitude.
"I'm sorry. I just find your attitude really naïve. There are a lot of people who don't play fair in this game. Such is life. There is no use in getting angry about it," said The Queen Bee making a big smile that just ruined her apology.
He nodded. "Yes, Ma'am, maybe I'm naïve, but I prefer to lose fair and square than to win using dirty tricks. See you later."
Heather waved at him and then rolled her eyes as Brick walked away, frowning.
Confessional: Brick
"I'm not sure if Heather provoked or not the snowslide. But I don't like her attitude. It's like she is mocking you all the time. I wonder how Alejandro could date a girl like that," said Brick rubbing his chin.
Confessional: Heather
The Queen Bee was filing her nails with a bored expression. "And here I thought Brick could be useful. That guy can't see the whole picture. I'm almost glad about that small trick I played yesterday. The only thing I regret is that Cody was the one at the other side of the snowslide," she then glared at the camera. "Sadly, it seems that after that dirty delinquent, we should eliminate the 'too nice to live soldier.' But that is what he gets for playing with fire."
It was already dark, most campers went back to the cabins, but few were still out on the island. Two of them were working under the shadows. Looking at a strange device that was connected to a stone.
"And using this routine, you start the cameras again. It has a 1-minute delay, so you can hide the device and get out of here," explained Charlotte while showing the icons in the display.
"Got it, but won't the interns realize something is wrong with the cameras turned off?" asked Cody raising an eyebrow.
The e-gamer smirked, "The routine loop the background of the camera, so basically it's not turned off. But they won't see anything through it."
"Really? That sounds too good to be true," said the brunette guy, rubbing his chin. "And you say there were already routines in the device to do that?"
"Yes, awesome isn't it," said Charlotte, nodding wisely. "It made sense because you need those routines to censor some images on recordings."
Cody was amazed, it looked like trash, but it was really a powerful hacking device. Either Max was a genius or had more luck than a 4-leaf clover.
"And finally, this is the access to the record of the votes, sadly you can't watch all of them, only those older than 3 days. But it's good enough to watch the old ones," said the e-gamer hitting his palm with her fist.
"That's cool but, why would you want to see the old votes? I mean it isn't like you can change the past," asked the brunette guy, not understanding her enthusiasm.
Charlotte jaw dropped. "Why? To find who you can trust and who you can't. This is how I found out that Brick was a traitor."
"Really? You mean all your animosity toward Brick is because he voted you out?" asked Cody blinking. "But wait, you weren't voted out. You were eliminated by DAM."
"No, it comes because he betrayed us and voted Jasmine," she said in a bitter tone. "He feigned to be nice and acted like the leader of the team, and he just went and voted out our best player. I can't forgive him."
He blinked a couple of times. "Only for that? I don't want to minimize your grudge, but in this game that kind of thing happens all the time. Maybe he just voted her because he thought it was the best for him, not for the team."
"AND THAT'S WHAT I HATE," shouted Charlotte, her nostrils flaring. "Those selfish players that cost everything to the team. It already happened to me before when Alice cost us the first place in the world ranking." She almost couldn't hold the tears. "We trusted her, we played together for 2 years, and she betrayed us because it's only a game. She and Brick are the same kind of people, and that's why he's going down."
The brunette boy was shocked by Charlotte's outburst. He didn't expect her to react like that. Reasoning with her about Brick would be useless, but maybe he could use it to talk about another subject that worried him.
"But we can't eliminate him alone," he replied with a thoughtful expression, "We need allies."
"It's true our party is too small to take that quest. Do you have some candidates in mind?" asked the e-gamer, rubbing her chin.
Cody made a big smile. "How about Lilly? She seems like someone trustworthy."
"Lilly? Sorry but I don't like her. She's a toxic player just like Amy," said Charlotte folding her arms.
"Toxic? I don't think so. She seemed more like the loyal type that was just helping her friend to achieve her goal. And also, Amy isn't in the game anymore," said Cody trying to use the correct word to not provoke the e-gamer.
Charlotte bit her lower lip. As much as she hated to admit it, Cody was right, but she was too proud to accept it. "Let me think about it."
"Don't worry, take your time, but let's try to make a decision before the next elimination," he said. Then the brunette boy focused on the device in his hands. "Do you mind if I look for some information in the system?"
"You already put the coin and pressed start. Only try to be quick. We fooled the cameras, but the longer we stay connected, the higher the risk."
Cody smiled. "Ok, I'll be fast, only tell me. Do you know where the voting videos are stored?"
He spent some time looking at old videos, trying to find some answers among the different eliminations. At that moment he understood why Charlotte said that looking at them was useful.
Confessional: Charlotte
"Lilly? I don't understand why Cody wants a support class like her to join our guild. It's true that without Topher, our strength is laughable, and we need at least other 3 votes to eliminate Brick. But personally, I would prefer someone strong like Heather," said the dark-skinned girl, putting a thoughtful expression.
It was past midnight, most of the campers were already sleeping, but she couldn't sleep. These past days she had many things in her mind that keep her awake.
But to her surprise, she wasn't the only one with insomnia. In the dock, she found another person. He wasn't who she expected, but at this hour she couldn't be picky with the company.
"Good night Mike, you can't sleep?" asked Courtney in a forced nonchalant tone.
But Mike ignored her. He just stared at the lake, looking at the dark waters with a cold expression, his eyes lifeless and devoid of emotion.
"MIKE!" shouted the former CIT, and as if she broke some kind of spell Mike woke up.
The spiky-haired guy looked at her with wide eyes. "Oh, Courtney! You scared me. Why are you still awake at this hour?"
"I just feel like taking a walk. It seems I'm too excited for tomorrow's challenge," lied the Latin girl. "But, Are you all right? Just a moment ago you seemed … weird."
"Weird in a good way or in a bad way?" asked Mike making a big grin that showed the gap between his teeth.
Courtney raised an eyebrow. "Is there a way to be weird in a good way?"
"Of course there is! The reason why Zoey started dating me was she liked oddballs. That is what I call being weird in a good way." He then looked frowning sadly at her. "Do you hate oddballs?"
"Are you asking me if I hate weirdos or if I hate you?" asked Courtney squinting at him.
He rubbed his arm nervously. "Maybe both? Nobody likes to be hated."
"Hahaha, I'm not so sure. Some people act like they want to be hated. Especially toward those who are supposed to love them," said Courtney in a sad tone. "But no, I don't hate weirdos, and of course I don't hate you."
"I think I'm not the only one who seems worried about something," said Mike, looking concerned at her. "It's hard when those who are supposed to protect you are the ones who betray you."
Courtney was startled but also excited. "Exactly! Realizing that all you believe, all you learned was a lie. There is no way you can be ok after discovering that. Right?"
"Of course not. That is the kind of realization that just destroys your confidence. Especially because you don't know how those important to you will react," said Mike, looking at her with the same excitement.
"But there is no way back. Once you see the truth, you can't go back." said the Latin girl. "So what should you do? How can you keep going after realizing that?"
Mike chuckled sadly. "I'm also dealing with that part right now. I don't have any idea of what to do from now on."
She looked dejected at the ground, she needed that answer, but to her surprise, he kept talking.
"But if you want my opinion, there are only two choices. You forget everything and keep living your life as a lie, or you leave all things behind and start living as your true self," said Mike, looking coldly at her.
She stood silent. He just told her what she needed to hear. "Thanks, Mike. I hope you can also find your answer."
She stood up, but Mike turned to look at her. "Would you mind staying with me a little longer? I don't want to be alone."
She stopped for a moment, looked at him, and then sat down in the dock. Both keep talking a little longer about the game and their lives at home. After a while, both returned to the cabins. The Latin girl had a lot to think about after her encounter with Mike.
Confessional: Mike
"Courtney is a great girl. Honestly, I'm glad I came to the show, or I would never find out," said Mike rubbing his arm. "I always thought she was a selfish and egocentric girl that only cared for herself, but actually, we may be more similar than I thought."
Confessional: Courtney
She was shuddering while folding her arms. "Mike is hiding something, and I need to find out why. When he asked me to stay with him, his eyes were full of despair and sadness, as if his life depended on me staying there with him. I feel distressed just thinking about it."
It was already morning. Heather woke up to find every other girl was already out of the cabin. Why everyone seemed to enjoy waking so early? There was nothing interesting to do on the island.
She stood up and put on a little make-up. Amy's elimination went as expected, and now she controlled 4 of the 9 remaining votes. So it was only a matter of time to control the game. The next step was focusing on eliminating the loose ends, especially Duncan and Brick.
But before she could make her plan, the familiar sound of the loudspeakers startled her.
"Good morning campers! I need all of you to come to the Chef's circuit. Start warming up your engines. You'll need them for today's challenge."
The Queen Bee groaned and finished putting on her make-up before going out of the cabin. There she found Cody.
"Hello Heather, it's not too early to be frowning like that?" asked the brunette guy, giving her finger pistols.
Heather rolled her eyes. "Just hearing Chris' voice is enough to ruin my day."
"Touché."
"And also, where is Chef's circuit anyway? He always tells us to go here and there but never bothers to tell us where are those damn places," added Heather tossing her braid.
They then found Logan, one of the interns, holding a big Arrow pointing at the right with a label that had written Chef's circuit.
"I think it's in that way," said Cody looking with sympathy at the intern.
"I know," replied Heather in a harsh tone, rolling her eyes and walking in toward the circuit.
Confessional: Heather
"Winning this game is easy. First, try to get immunity. If you can't, try to let an ally gets it and focus on the most dangerous opponent left." She then sighed and tossed her braid at the camera. "Why everyone else can't follow the script if it's so easy?"
Instead of Mount Chris, on the center of the island was a series of small hills and roads like a race track. Chris was in front of the track entrance, wearing black pants, a checkered black and white shirt, sunglasses, and a whistle at his neck.
"Welcome racers to Chef's circuit, the best, most dangerous, and important racing track in the island," said Chris in an excited tone.
"And also the only one," whispered Duncan, chuckling.
Chris glared at him but kept talking. "As I was saying. You'll have the chance, the honor, of racing in such an awesome track."
"It doesn't seem exactly like an honor," said Sammy tilting her head.
The host made a smug smile. "That's because you don't know anything about racing, Samey,"
"It's Sammy. Even a little kid would get it by now," said the twin glaring at him.
"Today you're ruder than ever. It seems we'll need to do the challenge extra dangerous," said Chris frowning angrily. "Anyway, as I was saying. You'll drive 10 laps around the track. The top 3 racers will gain immunity. So you need to fight to reach the podium, or you will be on the cutting block."
"How will we chose the pole positions?" asked Courtney raising a hand.
Chris lowered his sunglasses and winked. "You'll go in the order you finished the last challenge. For those who didn't finish, those who climbed higher will be in a better position."
"You'll give us at least helmets, right?" asked Cody with a trembling voice.
"Of course we'll give you all the equipment you need. Do you think we're monsters or something like that?" asked the host putting a hand over his chest with a pained expression.
Lilly twiddled with her fingers. "I didn't want to say it, but actually-"
"Ahem! Ok as I said, we'll give you the racing kart, helmet, racing gloves and suite," said Chris ignoring the treehugger comment.
"Karts? Are we not racing in cars?" asked Mike scratching his head.
Chris shrugged. "Unfortunately, not everyone here has their driving license yet, so we need to use modified karts."
"Sorry, I failed my first driving test," said Brick in an apologetic tone while saluting.
"Don't worry, I also don't have my license yet," said Lilly rubbing Brick's back, the cadet smiled back at her.
Charlotte rolled her eyes and asked in a loud voice. "Can we find power-ups or weapons to use against our opponents in the track?"
"What? This isn't a videogame, you know there is no way…" the host started saying but then became silent, a big grin appearing on his face. "Give me a minute."
He then turned his back at the campers and called someone on his phone.
"Steve? Can you check if there is a quick way to give the racers control over some of the track traps when they pass over specific circuit zones? Yes, like in THAT video game."
He then became quiet. "No, there is no need for a homing shell. Everyone hates that one." After that, he was nodding and smiling. "So you can do it. Awesome Steve, I knew DAM could do it. Call me when it's done."
There were some whispers among the contestants. Chris just smiled and raised his hands before talking. "The challenge just became more interesting. Now you can use some traps in the circuit against your opponents, making everything more entertaining, at least for me and the audience." He chuckled evilly and then winked, "you can thank Charlotte for the change in the rules."
Some people like Sammy, Heather, and Courtney glared at the e-gamer, while others like Mike and Duncan just smiled at the news.
"Can we tinker with our vehicles?" asked Duncan, making his classic smirk.
"You have until DAM made the changes in the circuit to tinker with your machines. But you can only use the things found in the pits," said Chris pointing at the right side of the track.
"If we have pits, that means we can make pit stops?" asked Cody smiling, the idea of tinkering with his kart excited him.
Chris walked in the direction of the pits, the contestants following him.
"Technically, yes, if you have a problem with the kart and can take it to the pits, our expert team will do their best to fix it," Chris chuckled as he pointed to Logan and the other 3 interns working in 2 karts, "but of course, you'll lose time while your vehicle is repaired, so reaching the podium in third place or better would be almost impossible,"
Then a loud zap interrupted the host, as one of the interns was shocked by the kart, falling to the ground.
"Logan, take him to the infirmary while the rest continue working," said Chris rolling his eyes. "Meanwhile, you can start tinkering with your karts. Lilly's car is number 1, Mike's number 2, and so on. The full list is displayed on various screens around the track. So let's get started."
The 9 contestants ran toward their vehicles. They had to try to get some advantage before the race started.
Charlotte was working on her car, the number 8. Even if Chris said they could tinker with the kart, there wasn't much to do with it. She was thinking about what to do next when someone greeted her.
"Hello Charlotte, you seem quite busy right now, so I'll just take a moment," said Heather making a smirk.
"Ok, but be brief, I'm not an expert engineer, so I need all the time they give us to level up my mount," said the e-gamer.
Heather made an effort to not roll her eyes at Charlotte's lingo. "It's easy. I scratch your back and you scratch mine. Is there someone you want to eliminate from the game?"
The dark-skinned girl looked at her with wide eyes. Yes she was quite vocal about eliminating Brick, but did she told Heather about it? Maybe Cody told her. Anyway it was a good opportunity, but the e-gamer wasn't sure about trusting Heather, at least not yet.
"There may be someone, so what is your proposal?" asked Charlotte folding her arms.
"Easy, we vote your target tonight, and if he gains immunity, we vote for Duncan. What do you say?" whispered Heather while smirking.
The e-gamer thought about it. With her and Lilly's vote, they have 4. It would only need one more person to vote Brick out, and even if he got immunity, they could vote Duncan, who was a dangerous player.
"You have a deal," said Charlotte, shaking her hand.
"Always a pleasure to talk with someone reasonable like you. Now if you excuse me, there is something I need to talk with my friend," said the Queen Bee, who then walked toward the kart number 9. Leaving Charlotte working in her vehicle.
Under car number 9, Cody was replacing the connections to the electric engine of his kart. He wanted to have the best response time to ensure it won't stop working while he's driving.
Heather knocked on the kart frame, startling the brunette guy who hit his head against the vehicle.
"Ouch, who is there?" asked Cody, coming out from under the kart while rubbing his forehead.
Heather put a fist over her mouth to dissimulate her laugher. "Oh, c'mon Cody, you can't be so nervous all the time. It's not healthy."
"I'm not nervous. I'm cautious," said Cody with a pained expression, "And what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be working on your kart?"
"C'mon, you know machines aren't my thing," said the Queen Bee showing a playful smile.
He put a thoughtful expression. "You're right. I still don't know how you melted down your coffee machine."
"You had a great memory for that kind of useless information," replied Heather squinting at him. "Well, that made things simpler. I need your help to improve my cart."
Cody shook his head, "right now I'm in the middle of fixing mine. I'll look at yours as soon as I'm finished."
"Can't you take a quick look now?" said Heather using a sweet tone unusual to her.
The brunette guy felt a shiver down his spine after hearing that. "I can't, but let me finish, and I'll look at yours, I promise."
Heather had to bit her tongue but forced a smile on her face. "Ok, As you wish. I'll be waiting for you."
She then went back to her kart, leaving Cody working again. The smile turned in an angry frown as she walked back to vehicle number 7.
Confessional: Charlotte
"Heather's proposal is great. If Brick loses, this stage is game over, and if he wins, we get rid of a dangerous mob." She then put a thoughtful expression. "But as my guild master used to say, If something is too good to be true, it's probably not true. I need to be careful before starting this stage."
At the front of the line Lilly was cleaning her cart, including the motor. She was nervous about starting first, but there wasn't much she could do.
She watched Mike working on his cart, the day of Amy's elimination, he accused her of cheating. Did he know something?
Then she heard the device in her bag beeping. Flustering, she ran away and hid next to the track's entrance, trying to talk in a low tone.
"Hello Max, please don't call me during the challenges," pleaded the treehugger in a polite tone.
"NONSENSE! Stop whimpering and hear me out. Today's challenge is a great chance for us," Max's voice sounded angry through the device.
Lilly sighed tiredly. "I don't want to keep cheating."
"What!? Are you crazy? You're right now in the top 9 thanks to ME. You can't stop now," said Max, in an enraged tone. "I need you to win this show."
"But there are better people than me, stronger and smarter too," replied the treehugger, sobbing.
"SILENCE! That's why it needs to be you. Now hear me, as you say, it seems someone is using a machine to access DAM. I need you to retrieve it," said Max ignoring Lilly's complaints.
The treehugger sighed sadly. "But we don't know if the machine still exists or who has it." It was a lie. Lilly knew the machine was probably in Charlotte's hands, who got it after Max left the island.
"I don't care for your excuses! Find that machine," shouted Max, his voice full of anger. "Also, I have a surprise for you."
"A surprise? Really," Lilly's frown turned into a smile. "I love surprises! Is it a stuffed animal?"
"NO, you DIMWIT! It's a special engine I have prepared for you. Walk into The building marked with the number 3, and you will found it over the table," he said in a harsh tone.
"But I don't know how to change-"
"SILENCE!" Max interrupted her, "Now get going. We don't have all day. Over and out."
Lilly ran (well as fast as Lilly can run) toward the building. But she couldn't find the motor, after looking under the table and around it, she picked up two bottles of water and went back, but before returning to her place, she stopped at car number 2.
"I brought you a bottle of water," Lilly said in her polite tone to the Spiky-haired guy.
Mike frowned but then smiled. "Thanks, Lilly. How are you doing with your kart?"
"Fine, I don't know a lot about machines, so I just clean it," explained the treehugger, "And you, you seem really focused on yours."
"Yes, I think it can go better if I change some connections here and increase the amperage there," said Mike, drying the sweat from his head with an arm. "I'm glad Vito was a car enthusiast. All his knowledge is really useful."
Lilly nodded, "Good luck with that."
The former multiple Mike looked at her. Was she the cheater? Yes, she acted all the time suspiciously. In the 5 merge challenges, she got 2 immunities but didn't seem to be receiving help in this one. Maybe his gut feeling was wrong.
"I wanted to tell you. Even if Amy isn't here, we're still friends. So if you need anything, just tell me," said Lilly twiddling with her fingers.
Mike looked at her. It was a stern and strange glare she didn't expect and made her tremble. "Thanks but it's too late."
"I'm sorry, what did you say?" asked Lilly, still scared but trying to not show it.
"I mean, that is already late, and we haven't finished working in our karts. It's better if we try to focus on improving yours in the time we still have," said Mike, showing a big grin.
Lilly doubted but nodded. "You're right. But if you need me just call."
After that, she went back to her kart while Mike kept working, sipping from his bottle now and then.
Confessional: Lilly
"I think Mike knows something, but he doesn't have evidence yet, but he knows," said Lilly in a distressed tone. "I don't know what to do. Should I quit? But then Mike would lose an ally, and I just tell him he could trust me. I wish Amy was still here. She would know what to do."
On car number 3, Sammy was looking at her vehicle's engine, but it was obvious this was harder than she thought.
"Ok, I'm done. I'll have to compensate with my driving skills," said Sammy in an upset tone.
"Wow, it sounds like you're giving up," said a female voice, coming just behind her.
"All the opposite, I'm a great driver. In fact I'm the best in my class," said the twin proudly. She then snickered. "Well, after Amy, but she isn't here. And you Courtney, are you ready?"
The former CIT nodded. "As ready as you can be using this piece of junk. I didn't expect they would be so old."
"Totally true, but again what did you expect from this show?" replied the twin while looking at the engine, but she didn't understand how it worked.
Courtney also stood silent. She didn't come to have small talk. She wanted to ask her about yesterday. But all the Latin girl determinations faded at the moment she had the chance to ask her.
Then both were distracted by Duncan's loud laugh. It seemed the Neanderthal was having a great time.
"Sometimes he's like a little kid. I wonder what disgrace happened to make him laugh like that?" said the twin rolling her eyes.
"He's not that bad. He was worse before, believe me. At least he isn't bullying anyone and isn't doing those silly pranks," said Courtney while looking at the criminal.
Sammy looked at her and made a smirk, "you still like him, right?"
"WHAT! Of course not. What gave you that idea?" asked Courtney blushing and glaring at the twin.
"Ugh, it's obvious. If you hated him, you wouldn't pay him any attention, and you would be looking to vote him out of the island. But we're in the 18th challenge, and he never ends in the bottom two. Did you count how many times my sister and I ended in the bottom two?"
"But that doesn't mean anything. Maybe I have been focused on other more dangerous players," explained Courtney, losing her cool.
The twin shrugged. "Ok, if you say so, I believe you. But if you need a confidant, I'm here. I have a lot of experience on these kinds of things."
"You have changed," said Courtney smiling, "You're really different from the girl that switched teams."
"You think so?" said Sammy making a big smile. "Thanks, I think so too."
With that, Courtney went back to her kart. She found what she wanted to know but had to tell the twin more personal information than she wanted. Even then, the Latin girl was smiling.
Confessional: Sammy
"And yes, after what happened to my sister, I'm more confident than ever in winning this game," said Sammy, folding her arms and smiling proudly at the camera. "Sis, just look at this new and improved me win this game for you."
Duncan was whistling joyfully as he went to kart number 6, in which Brick was working, painting some camouflage pattern on the frame.
"G.I. Brick, what the hell are you doing?" said Duncan in a serious tone, trying to not laugh.
The cadet smiled, he had some drops of green paint across his face. "I'm decoring my boy with this paint that the chubby intern kindly gave me. In this kind of competition, the correct mindset is important."
"Yes, but camouflage pattern? Really? You're a military freak my friend," said Duncan while watching at the kart. He was doing a cool job.
"It's not just camouflage. It's the fusion of my two passions, the military and fashion. Look carefully at the colors. And the spots aren't ordinary spots," explained the Brick with a big grin on his face.
Duncan tilted his head. "Really? They look like normal spots to me. Even some look more like stains than spots."
"Duncan, be proud, you at least tried," said the cadet making a big smile.
The delinquent smirked but then frowned. "What do you mean by that? Are you insulting me G.I. Brick?"
"Hahaha, same old Duncan," replied Brick while laughing.
"You win this round," said the delinquent. "Also, are you still adamant about going solo? We're already at the top 9, and some people may be wanting to boot you."
"Me, why? I mean, t-there are people more dangerous than me," Brick lied with hesitation. At least he knew Charlotte hated him for the avalanche, and the girl who provoked it wasn't too fond of him either if she used him as a scapegoat.
Duncan rolled his eyes. "Because you're too good, not as good as me, of course, but really good. You're a physical beast. People like you because you're polite and naïve and you're not that dumb."
"Thanks?" replied Brick, not sure if Duncan was insulting or praising him.
"Think about it. I'll be at the same spot as usual after the challenge," said the delinquent, winking.
Brick shook his head. Duncan never missed a chance, then he realized something. "And did you give up on your kart? The challenge should start at any moment."
"I have a secret weapon, so don't worry about it," said Duncan, winking. "But you're right. I should at least give it a final check-up,"
The delinquent was about to go but turned around and offered a fist bump to the cadet. "Good Luck out there, win that second place."
"Don't you mean first place?" replied the cadet returning the fist bump.
"Hahaha, the first place is mine, so don't worry, just focus on getting second," replied Duncan smirking, leaving Brick chuckling at his occurrences.
Confessional: Duncan
"That Brick… I admit at first I approached him to mess with Alejandro's plan, but he's a cool guy. He's more emotional and funny than your usual military guy. Now I only wish he wasn't so stubborn about forming an alliance. Together we could get to the best 3," said Duncan leaning against the wall and smirking toward the camera.
"The challenge is ready, please all the cars aline behind the starting point. Remember you must use the box with your number," said Chris in a commentator-like tone.
On the stands, Chris and Chef were sitting in front of a fancy tablet with 2 mics. Chef was wearing a Nascar t-shirt and a red baseball cap with a letter C on the front.
"Today, we don't have really fine racers, Mr. Hatchet. But with that immunity on the line, we expect an exciting race," said Chris in the same tone.
Chef glared at him. "Did you eat something from the mess hall? You're acting weirder than usual."
"NO! I'm talking in like a sportscaster," said Chris rolling his eyes, "If we're narrating the race, we need to act our part. Chef you're a pro. You're supposed to know these things."
"WHAT? But you hate sportscasters! You always said that their job was like hosting but without the charm." said Chef, hitting the table with his fist.
"Anyway, ignoring Mr. Hatchet, it seems the cars are already in their positions, so the race is about to start at any moment. Do you have a favorite, Chef?" asked Chris in the same sportscaster tone.
Chef sighed. They didn't pay him enough to give a damn. "They're all horrible people, so I guess that the cadet and the whinny redhead are my favorites. At least they're polite and eat their food."
"Thanks, Chef, and it seems the race is starting. Look, the guy with the starting flag is already in his place.
On the track, Logan was holding a green flag. The intern's knees were trembling because those carts were modified to run really fast, and he just hoped none of them would hit him.
Inside the carts, every contestant was wearing a helmet and a racing suit in different colors. All were in their positions and ready to start.
Fear, excitement, conceit, confidence, thrill, determination, arrogance, scorn, and emotion. All the racers were ready and waiting for the intern to lower the flag.
"AAAAAAND, there it is," Chris's voice was barely audible under the karts noises as the 9 vehicles started accelerating. The 18th challenge had officially started.
As expected from a racing challenge the excitement started at the first curve. In a moment, many karts had already changed positions. Car number 2 and number 5 were fighting for first place while car number 4 and 1 fell to 6th place and last place respectively.
Over the track were some big TD marks holograms over the ground. After Courtney's kart passed over one of them, a mechanical voice talked through her kart's speakers.
"Pasta blasta ready, you have 1 shoot," said the voice, as a red button began to blink next to her wheel.
"It must be one of those traps we're supposed to use, ok here goes nothing," said the Latin girl pressing the button.
From the side of the track, a cannon shot a ball of hot pasta with meat and tomato, hitting Sammy on her helmet. The surprise attack made her lose control of her vehicle and spin before stopping.
"I'm sorry," said Courtney, not expecting the trap to be as effective.
All the cars passed the twin, leaving her in the last place. She cleaned her helmet and glared at the track.
"OK, if you want to play dirty, I can play too," said the twin under her breath, accelerating and trying to catch with the group.
Meanwhile, Brick was on the upper side of the hill, trying to speed up in a straight, but he then felt a bump on the side of his kart. To his surprise, car number 8 was intentionally bumping him, trying to get him off the track.
"STOP IT! It's dangerous," shouted Brick, frowning at his opponent, who ignored his warning and bumped him again.
Brick shook his head. "Ok, so be it." But before he could bump at the kart, he saw kart number 7 in his path, who was going extremely slow. At this rate they would crash!
"NOOOO," shouted Brick steering the wheel and going out of the track, almost down the hill. But lucky for him, his kart didn't fall.
The cadet took a moment to calm down. "What was that?" He wondered before going back into the race in the 8th position.
And at the top of the group, cars number 2 and 5 were still fighting to get the first position. Both finishing their third lap.
Duncan looked at the pilot of kart number 2 who wore a blue helmet. With that thin figure, it was obvious who he was.
"You're not bad. I can't believe you can keep up with me," said the delinquent, who tried to win the inner side of the track, but even if his kart was faster, Mike, in small movement, got the place, drifting the curve quicker.
"Fuck you Mike, why can't you be the same timid Mike while driving?" protested the delinquent.
But then he crossed over one of the TD signals, the mechanical voice talking through his kart.
Chris and Chef looked at this development with interest.
"And the third lap is over and 6 more to go. This is one exciting race, isn't it, Mr. Hatchet?" asked Chirs in his sportscaster tone of voice.
Chef looked at the track. "It's more exciting than I expected, not good, but not as bad as I thought.
"Thanks Chef, and now we need to go to a commercial break. After it, we should find out which of these 9 savages will get the podium and which will be out of the race and the game, FOREVER. Stay tuned. This is Total Drama, Tyranny of the masses.
