Chapter 56 – First Fight
5 weeks later:
Ines was in the kitchen, taking a bottle a cold water. Reaching her 38 weeks, she knew that the time to give birth was getting close and that started to scare her. Her Braxton Hicks were getting more intense lately and if that was only an example of labor pains, she couldn't imagine the actually labor pains. She also felt her baby head on her pelvis, already in position, deep inside she knew she would give birth soon. She couldn't wait because not only it meant she would finally hold hers and Luke's baby in her arms, but she couldn't stand to look herself like that. She felt horrible: nothing fit in her, she felt huge, needing Luke to do anything for her and she felt he was getting tired of that. For 5 weeks that he stopped looking for her to make love, which she couldn't blame him. With so many beautiful girls out there, how he would ever wanted to see her disgusting body. She looked like Jabba the Hutt.
Leia entered inside the apartment. At 9 weeks she looked amazing. Ines looked at her, remembering the time she was like that and she envy her sister in law. Especially Luke spent a lot of time with her in the past week. She was happy for Leia, she really was, but lately she felt abandoned by her husband.
"Hey, Where is Luke?" she asked her
Before she could answer, Luke appeared from inside.
"I'm here" he said hugging her "How are you today sis?"
"I'm feeling great. But I'm not here to talk about your nephew or niece, I'm here cause I got a message from Naboo"
Luke smile even more
"Please tell me is good news"
Leia nod
"Queen Naluma is available to meet you this week."
"That is incredible news, Leia. Of course I will go, maybe I will go tomorrow." he replied "Are you sure you don't want to come with me?"
"I wish but I can't. This week is a terrible week with a lot of meetings. But tell me everything because I want to know"
"Of course I will" he said kissing Leia's forehead, after all it was their mother. "Then maybe I can take my X-Wing"
"She said if you want you can use one of the Naboo ships that actually our mother usual use. It is in the hangar here on Coruscant"
"That is very kind of her" Luke nod.
Ines watched that scene in silence. They were talking like she was invisible, and she had enough
"If you two want to be alone, just say and I will dragged by ass out of here" she said making Luke sighed and Leia looked at her brother.
"Oh boy, here we go!" he said
"I think I better go" Leia said kissing Luke's cheek and left the apartment.
Once Leia left, Luke knew a big fight was coming, sooner or later and he was trying to avoid that, especially on her condition, but the past week Ines was getting to emotional, wanted to have him near her all the time.
"Ines, please calm down and let me explain!"
"Explain? I already understood everything. You are planning to go to Naboo without me. And I know why. It is because you feel ashamed to let people see you with me cause I look like this and I'm not that girl with a slim body"
Luke closed his eyes and sighed Not this again he thought.
"Are you going with that nonsense again? I want to go to Naboo cause I want to know about my mother."
"That is why you ask Leia to go with you and not me" she said starting to cry
"Of course, Leia is my sister this is about our mother"
"And I'm your wife and the mother of your child. But I think that is not important, after all who wants to be with me right now. I know you are getting tired of me Luke, I know, you don't need to say it."
"Ines, I don't know how to deal with you lately. You cry over everything, wanted me to be with you 24/7, I can't be with you all the time because I have things to do: I have to get the Academy ready, this all thing about knowing about my mother, and you acting like this all time, I feel helpless, especially when you don't talk to me."
"Don't act like you care. Lately you don't even touch me or want to make love with me. I know you are tired of me, you just don't have the guts to tell. You know what, go to Naboo. Just leave. It don't want to see you right now" she cried
"Fine. If that's what you want" and he turned away making Ines crying even more
"Wait, Luke. I didn't mean that. I'm sorry, don't go"
He turned and looked at her
"I can't deal with this Ines"
"Where are you going?"
"Leia's" he said before the door close behind him, leaving Ines alone.
R2 appeared beeping.
"I'm so stupid R2." she said heading to her bedroom and laying on the bed she started sobbing, holding Luke's pillow.
Leia and Han's apartment:
Han and Leia was getting ready for dinner when Luke entered. Seeing her brother's face, she knew he and Ines had a fight.
"What happened?"
Luke sat down sighing.
"She told me to leave and I did what she ask. I can't deal with this. Lately she cries over everything, wants me to be with her all the time. I know something is troubling her but she doesn't tell me and I don't know what to do. I don't know how to deal with her and it is painful cause I feel helpless" he said fighting the tears.
Han wanted to say something but he didn't know what. Even Chewie growled.
"Maybe I should talk with her" Leia said
"Better not, Leia. She will probably got over the edge with you too" he said
"So are you still go to Naboo?" Han asked him
"Yes. I'm leaving tomorrow. I want to know about my mother first and my grandparents"
"What about Ines, are you going to leave her?" Han asked surprise
"If she doesn't want me near her, then she will stay here"
"You know she didn't mean it that. Talk to her, make her tell you what is going on with her" Leia advice Luke to talk to Ines. She knew they were crazy for each other and she didn't like to see them like that.
"She doesn't tell me, Leia and I don't know what is wrong with her and it is difficult cause I sense her pain and I don't know why?"
3PO was in the kitchen listening the talk he turned to Luke
"Well it is quite obvious why Mistress Ines is acting the way she is lately"
Everyone looked at the protocol droid. Han rolled his eyes
"Oh great. 3PO we don't really want to know your opinions"
"No Han, let him talk" Luke said and looked back at 3PO "What are you talking about? Why is it obvious?"
"Well Master Luke, Mistress Ines due time is getting closer. Labor, especially from first time mothers can be really scary, after all it is a time where both mother and child have their lives at risk. Your mother died at childbirth, didn't she?"
Luke gasped at that. He almost lost Ines and their child, he didn't want to go through that again.
"3PO you are not helping" Leia told him
"Sorry Master Luke, of course the technology today avoid that, but either way, it is not good. After all labor pains are equal to have 20 broken bones at the same time"
Chewie growled and even Han wince at that.
"Thanks a lot 3PO for the heads up" Leia told him
"I'm sorry Mistress Leia, I'm telling the facts. At this time, the hormones of Mistress Ines are high due to the fact her body is getting ready to give birth. I'm sure it is not easy to have a human growing inside your body"
Luke sighed.
"Of course. I should have known it was that."
"But what is the big deal for not telling you. You are her husband, she can tell you everything, I don't see the problem on this" Han asked not understanding, but Luke knew why
"Because she doesn't want me to think she is weak" he said standing up
"Where are you going?" Leia asked
"Talk to my wife and tell her how much I love her" he smiled "Thanks 3PO"
"Glad to help Master Luke"
"Don't encourage him please" Han told making Luke laughed and left right after that.
Luke and Ines's apartment:
Luke entered in his apartment to find everything so quiet, that made him scary. Was Ines alright? Heading to the bedroom, he couldn't help to have his heart melt seeing Ines sleeping, holding his pillow. Her wet face showed him she cried herself to sleep.
Taking his boots off, he crawl on the bed, and ran his fingers through her hair, he kissed her forehead.
Ines moved and opened her eyes. The moment she saw her husband, she wrapped her arms around his neck and started sobbing, making Luke pulling her close.
"I'm so so...rry…" she said between sobs "I … di...dn't.. mean.. to… say.. that"
Luke make her look at him
"Babe don't be like that" he said wiping her tears "Calm down. I know you didn't mean that, but I can't help you if you don't tell me what is going on with you. I feel helpless, because you don't talk to me. You know you can tell me anything."
Ines looked down. She knew Luke was right, but she was ashamed to tell him what was troubling her.
"I know but I'm scared that if I tell you feel disappointed to marry me" she said crying "And then you decide to leave and I don't want to lose you cause I love you so much"
Luke copped her face between his hands and made her look at him
"I will never be disappoint to marry you. And I will never leave you cause I can't imagine my life without you." He said kissing her tears on both cheeks and then her lips "I love you so so much Ines." he told her "Babe, are you scare of giving birth?"
Ines nod
"How did you know?"
"Well let's say that 3PO gave me one of his information speeches" he smiled making her smile too
"I bet Han didn't like it"
"You know he didn't it" he said playing with her hair. "Why didn't you tell me that?"
"I thought you would think I was weaker, different from the Ines you met" she said looking back at him
"Weaker?" he said "Babe, you are the bravest woman I met. How can you be weaker? You deal with everything we deal back in Tatooine, Endor, inside the Death Star while you were pregnant. You are closer to put my son into the this world. I could never choose a perfect girl to caring my child but you"
"I'm sorry" she said "But I also thought you were not with me more because you got tired of me and you were ashamed to being seeing with me because I look disgusting and ugly. Look at me, I look like Jabba the Hutt."
Luke could help but laugh at that.
"Well a very cute Jabba, I have to say" he told kissing the tip of her nose "Ines, I'm not tired of you, never. And I think you look beautiful." he said resting his left hand on her belly "You are caring my child inside you and I love you so much for that. This past week I'm not spending much time with you, it is only because of this trip to Naboo and I'm getting the Academy ready. Making the dormitories ready cause we will receive kids that are not from here. It has nothing to do with you."
"The fact that we stop making love it made think that even more"
"Ines, if you knew how much I want to make love with you, you'll never think of that. I simply think I don't want to hurt you and you get tired easily. The other day we went together to the Temple and we had to stop twice, especially when you climbed the stairs. It is not because I don't desire you. I can't wait for you to give birth and be able to have sex again so I can have that body that no other man had but me"
"I feel so ridiculous and ashamed" she looked down
"No. You are pregnant, and your hormones are up high" he smiled
"Forgive me."
"Of course I will forgive you and I'm sorry for not understanding what you are going through too"
"If you want to go to Naboo alone, I will understand and respect but I really wanted to go with you, because this is an important moment in your life and we are a team and I want to be there with you in the good, but also in the bad times. And this is an important time for you. Besides, Luke I believe our baby boy will born while you are there and I don't want to be alone in that moment without you by my side" she said with tears filling her eyes.
Luke nod. He understood her situation
"I'm sorry, my love. To be honest I don't think I could go knowing that you can give birth my son without me next to you. But I really want to go to Naboo. I really want to meet my grandparents. I never knew my mother and there is something I wanted to know. So I need to do this"
"I understand Luke. I will be waiting for you here"
"No you wont cause I can't leave you here alone. You will come with me. You are right, we are a team and I want you next to me"
"So will you take me with you?"
"Yes" he said pulling her closer to him and rubbing her belly
"Luke?"
"What?"
"You and our baby are the best thing that ever happened to me" she said looking up, making him look down at her and leaning down he gentle lay her back on the bed and kissed her deeply, continuing to rub her belly.
"And both of you are my world Ines" he told her making her smile.
"Did we have our first fight?" she asked him
"Yes we did and I hated it" he kissed her again. "Let's go to sleep" after a while
Ines put her nightgown while Luke put his shorts and getting under covers, he pulled her on to his chest as they fell asleep in each others arms.
