Short Story 3: Armageddon at Sports day.
It happened right after our little training with Riser.
On my way out of the campus, this is the first thing Azazel says after catching me.
"Yo~, Vergil! Don't you want to move your body around, and I mean body! There's a good event coming up!"
He had a mischievous smile…
He's up to something…
"I don't have time for your stupidity, Azazel. I'm busy."
"Now, hold on! It's a sports event! Don't you want to participate in a sports event?"
Azazel asks while pulling my arm.
"Sports event?"
I twitched my eyes as he pulls something out of his pocket.
"Yeah, an event will be held among my organisation soon. So I want to call you in as a guest."
"And why would I agree to something like that."
"Oh come on, I got info that will be very useful for you", said Azazel as he held up a contract.

That's way too good to be true.
Just as he was about to push the contract to me...
"Mgh! Azazel! I have told you! Vergil belongs to our side!"
A crimson-haired man came out from the shadows. It's Sirzechs.
Huh? Our side? What the hell is going on?
"Chi! Looks like the Maou-sama came! Fuhahahahahaha! Farewell!", said Azazel as he laughed like a villain.
He then quickly leaves the scene.
Sirzechs put his hand on my shoulder and breathed out.
"…..He sure is a man I can't take my eyes off. My brother was almost going to turn into a participant for the Fallen Angels."
I questioned Sirzechs.
"Sirzechs, what the hell is going on?"
"Yes, I will explain it to you, once Rias' entire group assembles."
It was decided that he will come to my house along with Rias and the others, who we met up with.

[A sports day among the Three-Great-Powers!?]
In a guest room of the New Sparda residence, the Rias Gremory Group, excluding myself, exclaimed.
Sirzechs, who just explained the details, drinks his tea and then nods.
"Yes. To be on friendlier terms with the other members of the Three Great Powers, it was decided that we will use sports to achieve greater cohesion. So we will be having a sports event, or in other words an athletics day."

Both Raynare and Mittelt will be on Azazel's side on the event. Sirzechs just continued smiling.
"Of course, I want all of you to take part as participants for the Devils. This is an important exchange of culture. So I really wish for the cooperation of Rias Gremory's group. Having Vergil at the top as the Oumaryuutei, all of you are popular in the Underworld."
Hearing that, the kids seemed to have a good impression of it so they were saying "Athletics day, huh?" and "Seems interesting".

I took a deep breath and exhale. I then turned my face 90 degrees to the right.

The kids all introduced themselves to Michael.

I noticed that Shuri is at the bleachers, cheering for both her daughter and her husband.
By the way, Baraqiel already knows about Shuri's resurrection, when he met her again, he was filled with manly tears.
At least… they have a proper family reunion…
They had some issues before, but that should have been dealt with in the battle against Loki…

They are also asking me to participate in the in the "Team relay". Sirzechs told me that he wants me to participate and said I can even use Balance-Breaker.
The ones I'm participating in as a team are the "Ball-toss game" and the "Cavalry battle".
On my way towards our seating area, I went past the Fallen Angel team and….
Azazel in a black jersey gave a strong speech to his Fallen-Angel teams.
"Listen, all of you. This is a war also known as the exchange programme. So I won't complain even if you guys go nuts. The obstacles were fairly simple. We had to cross a balance beam, go under a net, and kick certain kinds of balls.
We progressed normally and finally reached the last obstacle….

I delivered a crisp side kick, sending Shishou out of the way.

The announcers shouted in excitement

I said as I speed pass him, who is still a bit disarrayed.
After a few minutes of running, it's my win.
*Solo competition 2: Item-Borrowing Race*
I returned to my seat after getting first place.
… Even after that, it turned into an outrageous activity due to the participants continuing to retire.

It seems that each side was under the pressure of being nervous, as well.
All the teams became bloodthirsty after the obstacle race and all participants have sharper eyes now. Rather, they are filled with fighting spirit, after the encounter with the monsters.

It was time for the Ball-toss Game so it was a team competition. There is a basket placed on a very long rod and we throw the balls with our team's color into it. All the participants were on standby.
[Now the ball-toss game which has all the Angels, Devils and Fallen Angels will begin!]
I picked up many balls from the ground at the same time the signal was given and I casually threw them into the basket. Rias, who is besides me, missed a few. I so far haven't miss even one.
I started to pick the balls up together with Rias and when I was about to throw them again...

The next team battle was the calvary battle. Some of the participants were the "horse" or "rider". The tension between participants within the Three Great Powers rose as this place turned into a battlefield, with hostility and killing intent everywhere.
We made two teams: Rias is a rider and Akeno is carrying her with Rossweisse and Koneko supporting her rear. I'm also a rider with Kiba carrying me and Gasper and Xenovia supporting my rear.
[We will now start the cavalry battle!]
Along with the signal from the announcer, all the riders go forward towards the battlefield.
"Oryaaaaaaah! I will make it a catastrophe! Die, Angels!"
"Don't look down on angeeeels! We will give you the Last Judgement!"
"Angels and Fallen Angels, perish!"
All participants are fighting while using powers of light and demonic powers…

Suddenly, a team of the Fallen Angel side was trying to caught me off guard.
"Fool."
I said as I snatched their hat before they can even realize.
"Hmph! I won't lose to Angels and Fallen Angels!"
The one who is blasting away several Angels and Fallen Angels with his fists is….the next heir of the House of Great King, Sairaorg Bael.
So the next Great King is plowing through everything huh…
"W-W-Where should we attack them from!? We need to take them down before they take us down!"
"Please calm down, [Ace] Irina!"
"Just relax Irina. Maybe we should go after him."
I look over to Irina in which Alex is saying something while pointing at me.
[Everyone, please don't continue that War here! It's coming back! That War is coming back completely! I'm telling you to stop, damn iiiiiiit! Hyahaha-!]
And one of the announcers has completely lost their mind…
"There! I've got her hat!"
The only one actually following the rules is Rias as she elegantly took a hat from a female angel.

"Kiba, Xenovia, Gasper. Hold altogether tight. I need a trampoline"

All participants looked at me, who is in the sky, with surprised faces.

I crashed my foot down to the ground, and generated a massive shockwave that blew away not only the soil, massive rocks, and mud, but also the participants away.
Only Rias' side was unharmed.

The hats of other participants who were sent flying, are floating in the air.
I leaped back to Kiba, Xenovia and Gasper's spot.
"Now all we have to do is collect the hats"

Whatever. We then collected the hats as we leaped together multiple times across the battlefield.
We got all of them, or so I thought.
The announcement still hasn't sounded. There must be several more to collect then.
I then heard a maniacal laugh.
As I look for it to see…
Azazel is going crazy. And his target is… mother!?

Mother, Archangel Gabriel, looks over to see Azazel charging at her… with perverted eyes.

We then charged at Azazel at high speed, then…

After a few minutes, the calvary battle ended… like a war.
*Decisive game: Baton Relay*
It was now the last activity, the baton relay.
[For each team, the chosen participants are waiting at designated points! Now, the sports day which has been going on for a long time has finally reached the climax!]
The announcer stirs the field with his announcement. The points each team has is quite close, and it became a situation where this last baton relay will determine the winners.
I became the anchor for this relay. I'm already on standby in my Super Balance Breaker state.
"Fufufu, so you are my opponent, huh, Vergil?"
"Oh you're so dead after this, Azazel"
The anchor for the Fallen Angels is Azazel.
He is so dead after this.
"Let's do our best~"
The anchor for the Angels is mother. As usual, she is very upbeat.
[Now, the final match is about to begin!]

The pistol for the relay was shot and along with rhythmical BGM, the participants of each team ran. The first runner for the Devils team is Kiba. He should be able to put his part off with his speed.
Suddenly, I saw a Fallen Angel fire light at Kiba, but Kiba dodged it swiftly.
"Azazel?", I said with a cold voice.

Even so, the relay was going on and the participants were running around the field. The participant before me...Sirzechs. He's fast.

"It won't be allowed for I, Uriel, the "Flame of God" to lose against a Maou!"
Baraqiel is covered with holy lightning and Archangel Uriel is covered with an enormous degree of holy flames. Their intense speed wasn't behind Sirzechs.
As soon as Sirzechs reaches me...
"I leave the rest to you, Takeru-san!"

I took the baton and flew ahead at full speed, using my boosters.
I then opened my wings to increase my aerodynamic field and increase my speed, but…
"Toryaaaaah! Here is the weapon which I have been preparing for in a situation like this!"
Azazel catches up with me from the behind! In his hand, he was holding onto a sword which looks like a mixture of light and darkness!
"This is the [Blazer Shining Aura Darkness Blade] that all of you were picking on me about!"
He then wielded his sword while blowing away the scenery! The other faction leaders were shocked!
"What!? So the [Blazer Shining Aura Darkness Blade] was completed!?"
"Mu! So that's the [Blazer Shining Aura Darkness Blade]!"
He then starts attacking me with it! The strike which missed carves deeply into the ground!
"You willing to go that far!? This is a sports day!", I shouted.
"It's waaaaaaar! I won't lose to a Maou and Chief Angel! I'm number 1!"
Shit! His brain is off-wired!
We then started our battle right before the finish line.
[Oo! Governor Azazel and the Oumaryuutei started battling in front of the goal!]
"This is a good opportunity! I shall test Takeru's strength! Come, my student!"
I'm not even your student.
"Oh just shut up you idiotic Fallen Governor!"
I punched Azazel as I said that. The impact created a shockwave that knocked Azazel away.
"How dare you, for you to hit me! You! You should treat your elders with a bit more respect!"
I avoided his sharp kick that aimed for my head.
"You're in no position to say that!"
As I knocked Azazel away again…
"I will be going first then~!"

Mother?

I then ignited my boosters and flew at high speed.
A straight up rush to the goal!
We seem to both crossed the finish line at the same time.
After that, a camera footage inspection was conducted, and from the result…
[Goooooal! The one who conquered the baton relay is the Angels team!]

So I lost huh…

Losing to mother…
I can tolerate that…
I then see Azazel glared at me.
"It's all your fault for knocking me away!", he screamed.

A mysterious pressure surrounds Azazel When I looked… the Fallen Angels were surrounding him. All of them were releasing killing intent from their body and they were glaring at him sharply.
Azazel whistled as he tried to walk away, but…
"….Azazel, let's talk for a bit."
Being caught by the Vice-Governor Shemhaza, he gets dragged towards the Fallen Angels team.
"I..I'm sorry, Shemhaza! I…I got a bit too cocky! Hahaha, forgive me. …..Please?"
Azazel apologises, but Shemhaza says with a smile.
"No."
"Gyaaaaah!"
At the center of the Fallen Angels team, a certain Governor made a scream.

Not the punishment I had in mind. Guess it will have to do.
I went over to Rias.
" I guess I was a bit too slow. Sorry Rias. ", I said.
"That's okay Vergil. You did great out there today.", said Rias as the others came over to me.
"Well, we still win, Vergil", said Alex with a grin.
Yeah yeah, whatever you say, Alex.
With that, the ridiculous sports event came to a close.
*A bit later*
After the event was over, I was asked by Michael to meet him outside of the grounds that the event took place. I sat on a fountain and waited for a couple minutes.
Then, a figure caught my sight.
Instead of Michael… it was the figure of Archangel Gabriel, my mother.
"Vergil…", she said.
In contrast of her liveliness today, she revealed a face of worriness.
"…"
A silence clouded us.
But I was the one to break it.
"You know, none of what we'll talk now, is going to change the past, right?", I said.
"Vergil, I…"
She tried to say something, but I interrupted.
"Do not get me wrong, mother. I do not hate you… not anymore."
I then stood up.
"I was a child back then. There are things I couldn't grasp. As I began to know why you left: your duty, your position… I was finally managed to understand."
As I walked pass her, I put my hand on her shoulder.
"Still, I have to admit: It would have been a lot better… had you been with us more. Maybe not all the time… but you could have come home a bit more."
Having said that, I left.
As I went far away…
I can hear her crying behind me.
But…
I was unable to stop walking…

For I'm not deserve to be her son…
