CHAPTER 56: Cleaning Up Their Mess, Finding A New Heart (Fandom: Willy's Wonderland)

Driving down the road, Willy's Janitor glances to the side to see Liz fast asleep in the passenger seat. It made sense, she had just helped take down the murderous, demonically possessed animatronics of Willy's Wonderland and hadn't slept in a good 12 hours.

He is always surprised by human's willingness to do things. She hadn't needed to help him, even when he needed to take a break she stayed and fought. He had expected her to run away, yet even when she had an out, she fought to stay and help.

She had come with him. No one told her to, she just showed up and climbed in.

And to think, had he called out the townsfolk for their obvious scam, he wouldn't have had that night of fun and purpose. He wouldn't have this new purpose, to protect Liz, the kid who stayed.

He was fired from Dollar General for killing an animatronic. He received a new, more permanent purpose by killing more animatronics.

Jai'tr, smirked and took a gulp of his Punch Pop, the carbonation in the drink refueling his own carbonated elemental body. Eventually he'd have to tell the girl what he is, but he had enough practice keeping up the shape of a human so that time was long into the future.

For now, he has a purpose, and if Liz wants to go kill more killer animatronics? He'll gladly help.

[FANDOM: Slime Rancher, Real life.]

I sit on a cliff, overlooking the sea and land. It's not often I do this, something for just me. Most of the time I'm reading, or writing, or using other characters, not just me.

But… Well… Extenuating circumstances.

See, readers, my pet frog has just died. Sammy, the jumbo sized three-toed south african frog, the longest lasting pet I have ever had. He came into my life on October 1st 2007, and left on May 1st, 2021.

In real life, he's been buried in a black box next to the back porch. Here? In the places where I am Author-sama?

Well I hope Hobson doesn't mind me commandeering one of his notes for Beatrix.

There's a note on a cliff, hidden away. No one I've watched has ever found it, and all it says is he lost a boot over this cliff.

Now it's a short and sweet love letter to dear old Sammy.

"Here is my Memorial for Samuel Frog.

You were one of my first pets, you taught me so much about frogs and I forgave you long ago for eating Angel Frog. It was totally our fault, you were hungry and we didn't feed you.

You scared us so much the day after, we thought you were female and unable to croak. Then we heard you croaking and panicked for a few minutes before we realized you were male. That seems to be a running thing with you, scaring us at least once every year, and one time someone else. I thought you had been crushed the first time you moved your rock. Thought you were dead that day you shedded after you had jumped out of your tank off the table.

You did some weird things, like eating your own shedded skin or those bugs that showed up in your tank that one time. I guess I wont see you do any more of that huh?

I always tried to keep you safe, I doubt you remember your tank breaking. It broke so many times, then I sprayed Bullfrog sunscreen on it and broke that one too. That last tank is actually for reptiles, not amphibians, but at least it was big enough for you. Unlike that tiny one we had to put you in when we were dealing with bed bugs. I hope the small tank in the car didn't scar you too much, but leaving you in the house while it was being baked was not possible. You got along with Zoe well at least, even though your water gave her diarrhea. I assume you did at least, you stopped swimming away every time she sat next to your tank.

It's ironic, the first day you met me you were hungry, not having been fed enough. The last day you didn't get to eat. At least your tank was clean.

I'm sorry we didn't notice you were having issues, you not reacting properly to your tank being cleaned should have been obvious, and all I can hope was you didn't die in pain.

I won't forget you.

~Author-sama."

I stand, looking down at the electronic note. What once was a yellow "H" is now a pink "A".

Sammy probably can't read this, can't at all now, but it's something.

The cliff with the pink note is now empty, the last words of a grieving pet owner to be immortalized.

A head of blue hair poked over the rocks and looked down.
