Misako sighed as she loaded her bags into the trunk of her car. It took a few hours, but she and Wendy managed to salvage most of their belongings from the wreckage of Nya's most recent rampage yesterday. During that time, Wendy had tried to convince Misako to stay and endure with her, but her friend wouldn't back down. Wendy frowned as she stood in the apartment's car park, watching her best friend pack up and abandon her.

"If you leave now, they've won, they'll have driven you out."

"I can't stay Wendy and you shouldn't either." She replied coldly. "I have stuff to do so you have until tonight to get packed, I'm taking you with me." She insisted before heading back inside. Wendy's fists clenched at the thought of someone else abandoning her. Just as she headed upstairs was about to head back inside her own apartment, she froze when she saw Kai and the others step outside. Kai and Wendy's eyes met for a split second before she rushed inside and locked the door behind her.

The others all spat hateful words at the woman's door, but Kai didn't say anything.

The brunette sighed, having too much on his mind right now to care about Wendy and her problems. It was his very first antenatal class today and he was dreading it. Skylor was coming with him, but that didn't help settle his nerves. Antenatal classes could help him to prepare for his baby's birth and give him confidence and the right information. They were usually informative and fun, and they were free. Kai knew he was going to learn how to look after and feed his baby and stay healthy during pregnancy.

Kai was told he might also meet some of the people who will look after him during labor and after the birth.

There he would be able to discuss his plans and any worries with professionals and other parents. Antenatal classes were also a good way to make friends with other parents who are expecting babies around the same time as him. These friendships could help him through the first few months with his baby. But Kai didn't think he would make any friends in these classes. He didn't want strangers asking him questions about his baby, his life, or the father.

He was supposed to attend introductory classes on baby care early in pregnancy, but most antenatal classes started around eight to ten weeks before the baby was due.

He had been putting off going for a while now. That is until Skylor and his boyfriends forced him to attend now that he was four weeks from his due date. Kai wasn't too keen at first, but then he heard what they taught new parents. The kinds of topics covered by antenatal classes were health in pregnancy, including a healthy diet, exercises to keep you fit and active during pregnancy, what happens during labor and birth, coping with labor and information about different types of pain relief, how to help themselves during labor and birth.

They also added in some relaxation techniques to help during birth and labor.

Kai knew he was going to need that, especially if he goes through with his plan to not have pain relief. There was information about different kinds of birth and interventions, such as forceps or vacuum delivery, caring for his baby, including feeding, and his health, emotions, and feelings during pregnancy, birth, and after.

"I'll be back to pick you up around one," Cole told Kai as he gave each of his boyfriends a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"You're coming too?" He asked in shock. He knew Cole was dropping them off, but he thought only Skylor was going in with him.

"Well, yeah, I'm just gonna go in with you then I'll leave."

"You don't have to do that." Kai tried to say.

"Kai, it's your first antenatal class! It's taken enough persuading to get you to go so I just wanna make sure everything's alright." He smiled before they all said their goodbyes and left to do their own stuff, leaving Kai alone in the apartment...

As promised, Cole came to pick Kai and Skylor up at one to take them to the hospital. It was fairly pleasant to travel to the hospital with his best friend and one of his boyfriends. The others would have seen them off, but Zane was needed at the base and Nya wanted to finish one of her projects. Jay would have come too, but he said that he had to get the apartment ready for something. He wouldn't tell Kai what it was, but judging by the glimpse of a smirk on Jay's face it was something really important.

Unfortunately, they would after to wait until after the class to find out.

When Cole, Kai, and Skylor arrived they were surprised to find at least thirty people also in the class. They hadn't expected there to be this many but Kai had a feeling the reason Zane choose this group because it was so large. The more people there the less attention would be on Kai. Some of the expecting mothers were on their own but some had their partners or friends with them. A few of them were wearing the same maternity outfit Kai had been provided with.

Some were as old as forty but some of them were as young as fourteen.

There were a few midwives wandering around, helping the pregnant people or setting up the supplies for the demonstrations for the class.

"You sure you don't want me to stay?" Cole asked.

"Nah it's fine, you can go," Kai reassured him and Cole nodded.

"Just call when you need picking up then." He smiled and watched as Kai and Skylor took a seat near the front. As they sat down, they were shocked and horrified to see Tox sitting a few seats beside them. The green-haired woman was sat on her own and sporting a large baby bump. It wasn't a big as Kai's, but it was still very obvious that she was pregnant.

Their eyes met for a second, but Tox quickly looked forward as if they weren't there.

Cole was completely oblivious to this as he turned to leave, only almost walk into another midwife.

"Oh hello, you're Zane's boyfriend right?" She smiled sweetly at the noirette.

"Yeah, and you are?"

"I'm Judith, the head midwife who will be looking after this group, Zane called and request me and my colleges specifically to help Kai with his pregnancy." She replied and scanned the group until she saw Kai and Skylor trying to get Tox's attention. "Is that him there?" She asked and Cole nodded. "Well don't worry, we'll take good care of him and the baby."

"I trust you," Cole replied honestly. If Zane asked for her specifically then she must be good at her job. Once he was sure Kai was alright, Cole turned and left and Judith walked up to the front of the room as everyone took their seats.

"Good morning everyone, we should be ready to start in a few minutes so I'll just check that everybody's here." She said and started flipping through the register. As soon as she was sure that everyone was here, she started talking about how to properly take care of their babies. As she started talking about how to change a baby's diaper, Kai's mind and gaze wandered to Tox. He hadn't seen or heard from her or Chamille since he had been rescued from Iron Baron.

He had no idea she was pregnant or where Chamille and judging by the look on Skylor's face she didn't either.

"How about you Kai? Would you like to give it a try?" Judith suddenly asked, holding up a baby doll and a disposable diaper. It took Kai a second to understand what she was asking, but he quickly caught on.

"Um, yeah, alright." He muttered nervously as he stood up and walked in front of everyone to Judith. She handed him the diaper and doll and let him try on his own as she held up another diaper for the class to see.

"Now these are disposables, a lot of mothers use these, but you might prefer the old terry toweling ones." She explained and held up a large white towel. "Now, washing them can be a chore, but they are cheaper and probably more environmentally friendly than disposables." She told them and looked over at Kai. "How are you doing?"

"Not very well," he admitted with a nervous chuckle as he showed her his work. The diaper was a little crooked and loose, but otherwise it was fine.

"That's great, good job." She reassured him as she took the doll back. "Just be warned that this is only a doll, so you might find it a bit more tricky with a real-life, wriggly baby." She joked and Kai felt himself smile as he went back to his seat. The next two hours were spent talking about caring for a baby and Judith called on a few others to take part in different demonstrations. As the class was ending, Skylor helped Kai as he practiced how to make a bottle with a couple of other expecting people.

Tox was at the other side of the room, avoiding the pair as best she could.

As they finished the bottles, Judith came over to check on them.

"So what did you make of your first day Kai? Did you enjoy it?"

"Yeah, it was interesting." He replied though he didn't sound so enthusiastic.

"As I said earlier, anything you want to ask doesn't be shy."

"There was something I wanted to ask; I just wanted to know how many people you can have in the delivery room with you?" He asked and Judith thought about it for a moment.

"Today's labor and delivery room are open to more than just the person giving birth and their partner and many families choose to bring in other people including a doula, a friend, the baby's grandparents, and more, but how many people you can have in the delivery room will largely depend on your hospital's policy."

"Hospital's policy?" Skylor frowned and Judith nodded.

"In some facilities, the policy may also vary depending on the room you are in and the type of birth you are having and some rooms might accommodate bigger families." She explained as she gave Kai a comforting smile. "Remember that hospital policy is in place for your safety and to ensure the hospital can deliver you and your baby the best care."

"I understand." He nodded. He had been planning to just have Skylor with him in the delivery room, but he was considering having Nya as well. He was hoping to be one of the first people to see the baby would help Nya come to terms with what happened and she was his sister, his only blood relative. She had always been there for him just like he had for her and he wanted her there when he gave birth to his daughter. As they were getting ready to leave, Kai noticed Tox walking away and he rushed after her.

"Hey Tox, wait up!" He shouted and Tox groaned in annoyance as the brunette approached her. "I... I just wanted to see how you were doing."

"How do you think?!" She snapped and Kai flinched slightly.

"I didn't know you were pregnant."

"And I wouldn't be if I had found out in time! Or because of you!"

"Because of me?"

"Chamille and I are in this mess because of you! You're the reason Morro visited the club so much!"

"What does Morro have to do with this?"

"I overheard what Morro was planning on doing with you and Iron Baron and told Chamille, Chen found out and sold us!" She shouted. "It's thanks to you that I now have to give birth to this rapist's bastard and Chamille's locked up in a psycho hospital!"

"W-What?" Kai gasped in horror.

"Her mind broke and she tried to kill herself TWICE! Now I'm alone, but it's alright, you've got all your family and friends to support you, no harm done!" She spat and Kai felt close to crying as what she said sunk in. It was true that he had never once asked about the other victims or how they were doing. With everything happening with the pregnancy, Wendy, and everything else it had completely slipped his mind. As he contemplated this, Tox scoffed in anger and stormed off as Skylor approached them.

"What was all that about?" The red-haired woman asked but Kai quickly wiped his eyes and looked away.

"Can we just go home?"...

"We don't belong here," Misako said for what felt like the hundredth time. She had just finished packing up all of her belongings, but when she returned to the apartment she was irritated to see that Wendy hadn't even tried to pack. The car was ready and waiting for them as Misako took her friend to the cafe to try and convince her one last time. Sadly, once again it was proving ineffective.

"I'll not be driven out and persecuted." Wendy insisted.

"Next time Nya might not stop at smashing up the apartment," Misako warned, fearing for her's and Wendy's life if Nya lost control like that again. "If we leave now while we still have a choice-"

"Or Kai can tell the truth!" She exclaimed and at that moment Kai, Skylor, and Cole entered the cafe. Kai was still a little shaken and upset from his confrontation with Tox at the hospital so Cole offered to get them some coffee on the way home. As soon as they saw Wendy all three of them froze along with Misako, but luckily Wendy didn't turn around. "You might have bought into his lies, calling Morro a rapist but-"

"That's what he was!" Misako snapped, finally at her breaking point. "That's exactly what Morro did to him and God knows how many others!" She repeated but Wendy looked away and shook her head in denial. "What's the point? I'll call you when I get there." She huffed as she got up and was about to leave but Wendy grabbed her arm.

"Please don't go! I need you!" She pleaded but Misako ripped her arm away and walked over to Kai.

"I'm sorry I tried, take care." She sighed before walking away.

"Look after yourself Misako." He called after her, but she didn't say anything else as she left the cafe. Wendy finally realized that Kai was there and turned to glare at him as she started to leave as well.

"This is all your fault!" She shouted with so much anger that it scared him for a split second, but he brushed it off.

"I've got nothing to say to you." He spat as he pushed past the nurse to order the drinks.

"Back off," Skylor warned, but Wendy ignored her.

"Wasn't it enough to take my son? You had to take everything else from me as well?!" He cried, but Kai refused to turn around.

"The only ones responsible for that are you and your son!" Cole growled.

"His lies have cost my son, my grandchild, almost lost me my job, destroyed my home, and now my best friend!" She shouted and Kai finally turned to face her, ready to give her a taste of her own medicine, but Wendy didn't give him the chance. "Take a good look around Kai Smith, because all this started because you couldn't keep your clothes on and I'll make sure that baby knows what a whore her mother is!" She spat before storming out and leaving Kai feeling worse than before...

When they got home that night, Skylor told the others about the incident with Tox at the hospital and then Wendy and they weren't happy with them, but they decided not to question Kai about it because he had enough to worry about. When the best friends got back home, however, they were shocked to find two strangers laughing and talking with Jay, Cole, Zane, and Nya like they had all known each other for years. They were Jay's parents, Ed and Edna Walker.

Edna Walker was a very kind woman with an aged face, greying brown hair that was tied back in a bun, and green eyes.

She wore sharp, light red spectacles, a thick brown coat, and black pants. Her loving husband, Ed Walker, was well known for his forgetfulness, and he often had to ask his wife to take notes for him. He had snowy white hair with dark brown eyes. He was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt with dirty grey overalls. Kai was a little intimidated by the sudden visit of Jay's parents. He was terrified that they wouldn't approve of him or the fact that he was pregnant with another man's child.

But as he spent more time with the couple, Kai became more relaxed and quickly learned where Jay got his sweet, kind, and caring personality from.

As the hours ticked by, everyone laughed and were calmer than they had felt in the last few months. While Jay was catching up with his parents, Skylor helped Kai pack his things for the hospital when he went into labor because there was a chance he would have to spend time at the hospital. Labor could take hours and Kai could be there for a whole day or more. Kai was absolutely dreading it, despite everyone telling him it would be a beautiful experience.

At the antenatal class, the midwives told them that the sooner they packed and prepared for the birth, the more they could relax.

For himself, he packed his birth plan and hospital notes along with two packets of underwear. He also packed his toothbrush, hairbrush, flannel, and his favorite soap and hair gel. To help him pass the time and relax Zane gave him some books whereas Nya gave him some magazines, Cole gifted him with an MP3 and Jay bought him a pair of red, fluffy slippers. For the baby, packed some bodysuits, vests and sleepsuits, and an outfit for going home in.

He also grabbed a hat, scratch mittens, and socks or booties with plenty of nappies.

As the night began to fall, it was just Edna and Kai on the sofa as Cole rushed around. Nya and Skylor had already gone to bed and Ed wanted to show Jay some modifications he had made to their engine. Zane had already left and now it was the noirette's turn, but he was very reluctant with it.

"You will call me if there's anything, right?" He asked them for the hundredth time that morning.

"Cole..." Kai whined at his boyfriend's paranoia.

"Yes, well, better to be safe than sorry; you could go into labor any day now." Cole reminded him.

"There's at least another month yet before the baby's born so will you please stop worrying!?" He snapped but instantly regretted it. Neither of them paid any mind to it, knowing it was just mood swings associated with the pregnancy. Cole just sighed before leaving and once he was gone Edna turned to her son's boyfriend.

"It's understandable that he's anxious." She soothed before grabbing her bag. "I know you probably got one of these but I made this just for you, but bear in mind that it's a rush job." She said and handed the brunette a wrapped-up gift. Kai smiled gratefully as he opened it and gasped. It was a white, knitted baby shawl. It felt so soft and warm against his skin and faintly smelled like lavender.

"You knitted this yourself?" He whispered as he held up the soft fabric and she nodded.

"I thought white would be more appropriate since Jay didn't tell us if the baby was a boy or a girl." She smiled, happy he liked the gift. "You can use it for wrapping the baby up in when you get back from the hospital, even though it'll be born in the middle of summer you should always keep them wrapped up from any sudden chills." She explained but Kai held the blanket close as tears welled up in his amber eyes.

"Oh dear, what's up?" Edna asked as she held the teen close.

"I-I don't know, it's just, with everyone buying stuff for the baby and... I packed my bag for the hospital today and it's just that it's all getting a bit close, too fast." He sniffed as the tears threatened to spill. "You've seen how nervous and excited everyone else is, even Wendy, and I just don't think I'm ready for this."

"But haven't you been going to those antenatal classes at the hospital?"

"Yeah and they've been really good but there's j-just so much to take in like if you p-put the baby in the wrong position they could d-die and all that just about feeding and sterilizing a-and I'm just so scared that I won't be the t-the perfect mother the baby needs, what it deserves; m-maybe things would have been better if I hadn't g-got that job and then none of this would h-have happened!" He sobbed loudly as his body began to tremble.

"But then you wouldn't have this baby."

"I don't care about that!" He cried. "It's thanks to my biology that Morro took such an interest in me and got to others at the club, and it's thanks to this baby that Wendy will probably spend the next few years hounding me!" He shouted, sounding more and more distressed with every breath. Seeing he was on the verge of a panic attack, Edna stood up from the couch and knelt in front of him.

"Listen, deary, there is no such thing as a perfect mother." She said but he shook his head in denial. "Take me for example; when I found out I was pregnant with Jay, Ed and I had little to no money and were living in a beat-up old trailer in the middle of a desert but we both knew right away that we weren't going to abort since it was a blessed miracle."

"Blessed miracle?"

"Yes, you see, Ed and I were told very early into our marriage that it would be near impossible for us to have our own children." She replied, her eyes looking a little teary as she told the brunette this. "After suffering from seven miscarriages we learn that I was unable to have children."

"Oh God, I'm so sorry." Kai gasped. He had just told a woman that was told she couldn't have kids that he wished he couldn't get pregnant. He hadn't been more ashamed of his actions.

"It's alright my dear." She reassured him with a gentle smile. "After Jay was born we were so short on money that we had to put our boy to sleep in a draw next to our bed; it was a comfy draw." She joked and this got a teary chuckle out of Kai. "I had to work washing cars for a living so we could send Jay to school and Ed used to steal food so he could eat, even if we went hungry, and I won't lie to you Kai, it was tough painful, and exhausting, and at the time a small part of me regretted not having an abortion when I had the chance; but look at us now."

"Yeah, Jay's a great guy." Kai smiled with a faint blush.

"After a while, Ed and I bought the junkyard and Jay became an agent; it was a little scary for us but when we met Cole and Zane we were relieved that Jay had them watching out for him."

"I bet you were both disappointed when you heard about me." He sighed sadly, slightly scared that Jay's mother would think of him as just an ex-prostitute. Edna frowned at this and gripped Kai's hands tightly.

"No Kai, I was sad to hear about what happened to you and about your parents, but I could tell the moment I met you that you are a strong, passionate young man who will love my son, Cole, and Zane as much as they love you; I'm sorry about all this business with that Wendy lady." She apologized, even though she had nothing to apologize for. "Basically deary, Ed and I could of taking the easiest way out and lived an ordinary life, but instead we loved our son and that's all a mother can do; love their child."

"That's what everyone keeps telling me." He sighed sadly.

"That's because it's true, no matter how many fights, laughs, and cries you might have along the way, as long as you love that baby everything with being alright, and unlike me, you'll have your family behind you every step of the way." She promised and with that Kai finally broke. Without warning, he suddenly grabbed Jay's mother into a tight hug as he sobbed loudly into her shoulder. Edna jumped for a moment, but she smiled softly as she wrapped the brunette in a protective embrace...
