Chapter 58 – The Naberries
The moment she heard the name of the young man in front of her, Jobal felt dizzy. She had being fall down, but Luke caught her in time
"Grandmother" he said.
"Luke, sit her down on the couch" Ines told him and looked to the servant "Can you bring a glass of water with sugar, please?"
"Right away" and she left towards the kitchen, while Luke sat Jobal on the couch nearby.
"I'm okay" she said looking to Luke with tears in her eyes and touched his face looking at him. "I knew the first time I heard your name back to the time of the destruction of the first Death Star, that you were my Padmé son. Especially when I heard your first name. She always said if she had a boy she would name him Luke and if it was a girl was Leia"
Ines looked at Luke when the servant came from the kitchen with a glass on her hand.
"Ma'am here, drink it"
Jobal grabbed it and drank the water. She looked at Ines
"My sweet girl, sit down. I bet your poor back and legs are begging for it"
"Actually" Ines smiled and she sat down next to Jobal, being help by Luke who smiled at her and gave a small rub on her belly, making Jobal smile at the scene.
"May I" she asked Ines, looking at her belly
"Sure" she nod and Jobal rested her hand on her belly.
"Your belly is lower, it means the baby already dropped" she said making Ines nod
"Actually he did drop."
"He? My great grandson" Jobal smiled looking at Luke and then to Ines "Your belly is already hard. I think this baby will come out in 1 or 2 days max"
Ines and Luke looked at each other.
Jobal looked at them
"Do you want to eat something or drink?"
"We came here just to see you and grandfather. We are going to Varykino in a few hours" Luke informed her
"Your mother loved that place." she said, but then looking at him she smiled "You are so handsome. You have your father's hair and eyes"
Luke smiled at that.
"Where is my grandfather?" Luke asked her
"Oh, he left a while ago but he is back home in no time" as she finished her sentence, a man around also 80 years old, with white hair and blue eyes entered
"Jobal, honey I'm home" he said when he saw his wife with a young couple and a droid. "Oh I didn't know you had visits"
"Ruwee, honey, let me introduce to you to…" she looked at Ines "Oh dear I didn't even ask your name"
"It's okay. It's Ines"
"This Ines and this is Luke. Our Padmé's son. Ruwee, our grandson" she said with tears in her.
Ruwee looked at Luke who stood up.
"How? How is that possible? We buried our Padmé and they said the baby died too"
"They lied, to protect me and my sister"
Jobal gasped
"Sister. Twins?"
"There was only a person who knew: your mother" Ines told her "That was why she was murder by one the Emperor Inquisitor"
Jobal looked at her husband, who looked at Luke.
"So my Padmé children didn't die?"
"No" Luke said and smiled when Ruwee pulled him into a hug
"My grandson" he said smiling, making Luke smile too "So you are the Luke Skywalker we heard all this time. Our grandson is a hero. Your mother would be proud of you, son" he said and looked at Ines "And I see the family is growing"
Ines smiled
"Yes sir."
"We will have a great grandson soon" Jobal said wrapping her arm around Ines shoulders.
"You will stay for dinner?" he said
"Actually, Ines and I will have to leave to Varykino in a few hours" Luke said
"Well at least have a little snack. You will reach there around dinner time. So there is time for a snack. After all we want to know everything" Ruwee said
"Alright we can eat a little snack" Luke smiled and looked at Ines.
An hour later, the four of them were sitting by the table.
"When your mother came here with your father, your aunt knew there was something between them, but your mother always denied it." Jobal said drinking her tea
"I liked him. He was a very nice young man and we saw he cares about our Padmé. We knew right away he was the father when we found out she was pregnant."
"They didn't tell because at the time, the Jedi weren't allow to marry. Something I already changed" Luke said
"You followed your father's footsteps: became a Jedi?" Jobal said
"Yes. We both are actually" he said grabbing Ines left hand and kissed it, making Ines smile.
"How long you two are together?" she asked them
"We met almost 5 years ago, on Luke's home planet: Tatooine. Your granddaughter and I, we are best friends since we were little and she sent me a message to go to Tatooine and meet her there. That saved my life, since my Planet was destroyed after that."
"I'm so sorry my dear. When we heard that, every system fear to suffer the same destiny of Alderaan." Ruwee said "So you can imagine when we got the news of the name. I thought it was a family member of your father, but your grandmother always had that feeling that was more than that. Especially after we knew the first name was Luke. Your mother loved that name."
"Then we got the news that the Emperor was death. I knew you had something to do with it" Jobal said smiling.
"We were there. Inside the Death Star. The Emperor tried to turn me, like he did with my father."
"I can't believe that Darth Vader was Anakin" Ruwee said
"He did it for love. He thought he was protecting your daughter. He was tricked. In the end, he redeem himself by saving Luke from death" Ines said.
"That was 7 months ago, that means you were pregnant back then!" Jobal said making Ines nod. "If Luke didn't turn, my son was the backup plan. He would have done to me what he did to Padmé for sure"
They were stay in silence, until Luke saw the hours
"My love we better go, if you want to arrive in time for dinner" he said standing up and helping Ines standing too.
"When you return to Coruscant, pass by to say goodbye to your grandparents" Jobal said kissing him on the cheek.
"We will, don't worry, grandmother" he smiled hugging her
"And come visit us, and bring your sister. We want to know meet our granddaughter" Ruwee said pulling Luke into a hug while Jobal hugged Ines.
"I'm sure next time we will meet this little one." she said and looked serious "I saw you were in pain once in a while. Once you get there, don't worry, there is a great woman who serve the place you will stay. She is a brilliant midwife. Her name is Yolla. I believe those back pains you were feeling, are not the reason of a long journey. You are having contractions, my dear"
Ines gasped. She was suspicious since those pain were not normal.
"I will do that. Thank you" Ines hugged her and after hugging Ruwee, they left following by R2.
Once they reached the Lake Retreat, the sun was already seating. Luke gasped at the site. He saw that place before. Actually he saw it many times in his head for almost 2 years.
"I know this place" he said
Ines looked at him.
"How?"
"The vision I had in Dagobah." he said and looked at her "Our son will born here"
Ines gasped. She bit her lip
"Luke, about that. I believe I've being having small contractions all day"
"What? The pain of your back?" he asked making her nod "Why didn't you say before Ines?"
"Because at first I thought it was only a reaction for standing too long. I had back pains before. But they continue, within hours apart, even when I was sitting down. Your grandmother noticed this. She said once we arrived, there is a woman, that serve here, that she is also a very good midwife."
Luke pulled Ines closer to him and kissed her forehead. Once the boat stopped he got out and helped Ines too.
They climbed the stairs and once they reached the place, they were received by two servants.
"Mr. and Mrs. Skywalker, we were expecting you. Please enter." the young one said
"Thank you." Luke nod
They entered the place, and right there they found it beautiful. They were lead to their master bedroom.
"This is nice" Ines said looking at Luke who didn't say a word "Is this the bedroom?"
He looked at her and nod with a smile, making her smile at him, when she wince and grabbed her back.
Luke went to her immediately.
"What? Another contraction?" he asked stroking Ines hair gently with his left hand while rub her belly with the other.
"Yes." she said and calm down after it passed.
"I will looked for that midwife. What is her name?"
"Yolla"
"Sit down, I'll be right back" and he left the room, leaving Ines alone with R2
"Nice way to get into a place, right R2?" she smiled at the droid, that beeped.
After a few minutes Luke entered with a woman, around her 50's. Gray eyes and sandy hair with a mix of white hair.
"Hello, Mrs. Skywalker. Well I see by looking at your belly that baby dropped weeks ago"
"Actually yes." Ines said as she touched and pressed her belly, being watched closely by Luke
"Your belly is hard and those back pain you are feeling. They come and go, right? And do they stop when you change position or sit down?"
"Actually no, they continue for a while"
"She had one before I call you" Luke said
"I see" she said looking at him and than to Ines "Well you are indeed having contractions. Your water didn't broke yet. When that happens, call me right away. But I believe you still have the whole night and next morning. First child always take a little longer."
"Thank you"
"Don't worry. It seems scary at first but when you have your baby in your arms, you will forget everything" she smiled and with a nod she left the room, leaving Ines and Luke alone.
It was late night in Varykino. Luke and Ines were lay in their bed, facing each other. Luke kept rubbing Ines lower back with his right hand. She just had another contraction 30 minutes ago and he was trying to ease her pain as much as he could.
"That feels nice. Please don't stop" she said with her eyes close
"Glad I can help" he smiled and kissed her gently on the lips.
Opening her eyes she looked at him
"We are about to meet our baby" she smiled.
Luke looked at her, and pulled her closer to him.
"It looked like yesterday we made him and you told me you were pregnant before we went to Endor" he said. "How are you feeling about it?"
"A little scared but I can't wait to meet him to be honest"
"Me too" he said resting his forehead on hers "I love you so much"
"I love you so much too" she said
Kissing her forehead, he told her
"Let's try to sleep. Or at least try to get some rest my love"
"Okay. What about you?"
"Don't worry about me" he said.
After a while, Ines was sleeping, while Luke was still awake. Looking at the time, he notice it had pass an hour since the last contraction and so far she didn't have any. He kept rubbing her back and kept looking at her. Tomorrow they will meet their baby and he couldn't wait. He felt so lucky to have her. He smiled when the image of the time they kissed and he told her he loved her back in Hoth came into his mind. He remembered her heart beating fast when he was kissing her. Almost 2 years later she was about to give birth his child. A baby he already loved the moment he found out he was growing safely inside her. Looking to his beautiful wife, Luke closed his eyes and tried to rest for a while.
Luke met his grandparents. And Ines is having contractions. The baby is coming.
