When Adeleine had woken up, Ginny and them were quick to try to sort things out between them. Adeleine had expressed that she was just tired and stressed, not intentionally meaning to snap at Ginny.
Ginny had been equally as forgiving as Adeleine, apologizing for not listening to Adeleine's wishes and trying to control the narrative.
Apparently, their plan was the right call because Marion had fallen for it, hook line and sinker. The group was all in Draco's room, lounging about, much to Draco's annoyance.
Luna and Athena were stood by the curtains and window side of the room while Theo and Ginny were stood by the large bookshelves. As they listened to Adeleine speak, they began to sneakily search every crevice around the room.
There was nothing suspicious behind the curtains or hiding on the bookshelves. Draco's desk was pretty neat and the drawers were filled with papers. The closets were filled with Draco's suits and dress shoes, nothing that seemed suspicious.
"You guys got anything?" Ginny whispered to Luna and Athena.
The couple shook their heads and Ginny sighed. She sent a questioning look to Neville and Blaise, but the pair also shook their heads.
Ginny had begun to shuffle through papers on Draco's desk, causing rustling noises. Athena toyed with a pen on his desk, playing with it in her fingers and pretending to drop it.
Athena then bent down to the ground to pick up the pen and check under the bed for anything. The underside of the bed was bare and Athena sighed, pasting a fake smile on her face.
"Are you guys alright?" Adeleine asked, noticing her friends odd behavior.
Ginny forced a chuckle, "We're fine, why?"
"Well, Theo's looking through our trash right now" Adeleine commented with an eyebrow raised and Ginny scolded Theo in her mind.
"Oh" Theo's head came up from his kneeling position, "I thought I dropped something of mine in there. Guess not."
Adeleine nodded warily at the boy and continued talking to Athena who was not listening. Draco also noticed the odd movements of their friends, confused as to why they were searching throughout his room.
Draco wondered if Adeleine had set up some sort of Easter egg hunt in their room.
Ginny huffed in disappointment as the team came up empty handed. There was absolutely nothing in the room, but then the red haired girl had a bright idea.
She waved over Theo as they began to whisper a plan to each other. Athena was forced to listen to Adeleine speak about the latest of Witch Weekly. Luna forced a chuckle at a terrible joke Adeleine made.
"Even if Marion was pretending to be Adeleine, she doesn't have her memories" Ginny whispered to Theo.
"So what? We're just gonna give her a quiz?" Theo questioned incredulously.
Ginny's plan was smart, but what were they gonna think when they spontaneously began to ask Adeleine questions that they should know the answers to.
Luna and Athena were informed of the plan as Neville excused himself to use their restroom. They were all trying to come up with questions that only Adeleine would know the answers to.
"Hey Addy," Luna spoke quietly as Adeleine's head perked up.
"Yeah?" the girl queried.
"You know the snitch on your bookshelf?" Luna asked calmly and Ginny's lips were curling into a smirk.
Adeleine furrowed her brows for one second, as if she was trying to get her memories in order. "Yeah why?"
"Where did you get that from again?"
Adeleine rolled her tongue along the inside of her cheek and forced a smile. "Why do you ask?"
Draco was about to speak, but Ginny sent him a glare that shut him right up. He didn't know why they were asking about the snitch that he had given Adeleine, but maybe Luna was just curious about the pretty snitch on the shelves.
"It's just very beautiful" Luna smiled and Adeleine nodded.
Adeleine glanced at Draco before answering, "Draco gave it to me during the first quidditch match of the year."
Ginny huffed in disappointment, "Well who won it?!" The girl had spontaneously asked and Adeleine raised a brow.
"Slytherin won" she answered, "And I remember you were pretty wrecked about it Weasley."
Now even Draco was confused at the cold tone Adeleine spoke in towards Ginny. He had thought they cleared all the bad blood between the two, but it seems that the tension was still there, and it was growing.
Ginny's jaw was clenched as Theo gasped slightly. How did Marion know all of this? Ginny was beginning to doubt that Marion was pretending to be Adeleine. Maybe, Marion had just jinxed Adeleine or something to act bitchy towards them.
"Does that answer your questions?" Adeleine asked, her head tilted with a victorious smirk.
Luna smiled and nodded her head. "Yeah, I was just curious." She wanted to clear the tension between Ginny and Adeleine by saying, "That was really sweet of you to give her your snitch Draco."
Draco shifted uncomfortably at Luna calling him by his actual name. Only his close friends called him Draco and Luna was not one of them.
"To be fair I was just trying to get in her pants at that time around, but I guess it all worked out" he answered jokingly and Adeleine forced an extremely fake chuckle.
Blaise was beginning to get worried because Neville had been in the bathroom for nearly ten minutes. The only time he was in the bathroom that long was when he needed to wank off a stiff one.
Neville had been stifling through the cabinets above the sink and found plenty of little capsules, but none with polyjuice potion or anything remotely like that. He checked through drawers under the sink and even inside the bathtub, but there was nothing there.
He was about to give up when he stepped on a floor board. The marble plate seemed to be hollow so Neville knocked on it. The floor board was in fact hollow as Neville carefully took it out, loud scraping noises filling the bathroom.
Inside the floor board was a brown flask with a tan color cork inside. Neville struggled to pop the cork, but he eventually got it after tugging hard on it for about two minutes.
The liquid was a shade of golden as Neville took a sniff of it. He scrunched his nose in distaste as he got the strong smell of cat piss and trash. He had found it.
He hid the flask in his pocket as he walked out of the bathroom. He noticed Ginny had a slight flare of anger on her face and that Adeleine was wearing an almost evil smirk.
"Ginny" Neville whispered and Ginny turned to him.
The three words that Ginny had always wanted to hear had fallen from the beautiful brown haired boys lips.
"I found it."
Ginny blinked her eyes in disbelief as she asked Neville to repeat what he said again.
"Don't mess with me right now Neville" she warned and Neville shook his head.
"I'm not, it's in my pocket right now" he whispered and Ginny's grin broadened.
She walked towards Adeleine and pointed right at her. "Alright, I'm done with hinting this bullshit. We know you're Marion trying to pretend to be Adeleine.
Draco's eyes widened as he turned to Adeleine who merely scoffed. "What are you talking about? I know that we haven't been on the best of terms lately, but now you're just going crazy."
"I know you're Marion," Ginny said. "So just stop the act already."
"You've already tried interrogating me with your pointless questions and it doesn't work. I'm me, but you are delusional" Adeleine spat and Draco nodded in agreement.
It was true that Adeleine hadn't been acting as herself, but she also answered questions that only Adeleine knew the answers to. There was no way that Marion would know otherwise.
"We have proof" Ginny's smile was broad, rendering Adeleine quiet on the bed.
"You're bluffing" she said unsurely and Ginny's grin broadened as Draco slowly moved away from the girl.
Adeleine's hand reached out to snatch Draco back as she glared at Ginny with an obvious hatred. In her hand, Ginny held a brown colored flask.
"What is that?" Draco immediately questioned.
"I have no idea" Adeleine answered quickly, almost too quickly.
Ginny smiled and waved the flask in her hand. "This is a flask filled with polyjuice potion."
Adeleine's palms had begun to grow sweaty as she played it off by scoffing haughtily. "Please, all we know you could have just filled with water and be saying it is filled with polyjuice."
"Fine" Ginny shrugged, "Do you want someone to test it?"
Adeleine gulped, knowing that she was caught. Either she would transform back into herself in a matter of hours, or she could get caught now and deal with the consequences. There was no right choice.
When Adeleine didn't answer Ginny smiled and tossed the flask to Blaise who had volunteered to be the one to test it out. Blaise pinched his nose to cover the taste of polyjuice like he did when taking liquid medicines as a kid.
He downed the disgusting liquid and he felt his insides getting warm and his face contorting. His body shrunk and he got visibly shorter as his arms became thinner and he reappeared as Adeleine Wood.
"Ha!" Ginny said as Marion had been caught red handed.
Draco moved away from the bed, getting up and away from Marion. He had kissed Marion, again. He had slept in the same bed as her. He reassured her and held her in his arms.
He felt disgusted. It was the same as when he had intentionally kissed Marion. He felt only utter disgust for himself that he had even touched the abomination. But the only thing he was thinking of was Adeleine in that moment because if Marion was here, then where was Adeleine.
Marion knew that she had been caught, but their only hope of finding Adeleine was through her. In that case, they would never find the brown haired girl they loved so dearly.
