Bobby's phone rang in the middle of the night. He forced himself to get up. "Hello?" He asked, in a tired voice.

"I would like to speak to Miss Kate." Missouri said.

"Oh, Missouri. Uh, she is asleep."

"Then go wake her up, Bobby." Missouri replied.

Bobby groaned but went upstairs to wake Kate up.

Kate yawned. "What time is it?"

Bobby shrugged. "I don't know but I think it is important."

"Hi." Kate said through a yawn.

"Oh you sweet girl. Kate it is so good to hear your voice." Missouri said, affectionately.

"Why are you calling me in the middle of the night?" Kate asked.

Missouri scoffed. "I think you know why."

Bobby gave Kate a hard look.

Kate blinked several times. "I'm not being bad." She said to Bobby.

Missouri sighed. "Robert, leave the poor girl alone."

Bobby threw up his hands and went to sit down.

"Tell him to watch his mouth."

Kate grinned. "Missouri says to watch your mouth."

Bobby grumbled.

"How is that bracelet been treating you?" Missouri asked.

Kate grabbed her ankle. "It gets hot more often now."

"Mhm, which is how I knew something was up. My necklace just about branded me."

Kate slumped. "I'm sorry."

"Child, no one told you to be sorry. Now, talk to me." Missouri stated.

Kate chewed on her fingers. "I'm worried about my dad. He doesn't respond to my help as much as he used to. Missouri, I don't want him to die." She said through tears.

"Oh, sweetie. You are such a brave girl. This isn't fair to you. The harder you push, the more that bracelet is going to burn you."

Kate sighed. "What am I supposed to do?"

"Save your strength."

"What does that mean?" Kate asked with a yawn.

"It means go back to bed and rest up. I'll call back in the morning." Missouri said sweetly.

"Okay, thanks." Kate said.

Dean sat up when she walked into the room.

Kate groaned. "I'm not trying to run away."

Dean laid back. "I didn't say you were, brat."

Kate threw a pillow at him. "Missouri called and asked to speak to me."

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah. I was told to go back to sleep."

Dean threw the pillow back. "Sounds like good advice."

Kate tossed and turned as dreams overtook her. She felt like she was being swept along by a river. Suddenly she was small and saw a strange rash creeping up her arms and legs. The rash turned to vines and ran up her body and covered her mouth. The vines turned to rope and tightened and pulled her into the ground. She felt heat rising as her feet were drawn closer to flames. She couldn't fight it and couldn't scream. She pulled at the rope around her neck but it wouldn't budge.

Sam rolled out of his bed the same time Dean did. "Kate, wake up."

Dean shook her. "Sammy, she isn't responding." He lightly smacked her face and ran his knuckles down her sternum.

She was shaking and whimpering at first but had since stopped and wouldn't respond to anything.

Sam jumped up and turned on the light. "Dean, what's wrong with her."

Dean looked frantic. "I don't know."

Sam grabbed her hand and tried to read her but was met with nothingness. "Dean, I can't get in her head."

Dean pulled her blankets off. "Sam she is burning up."

Sam darted to the bathroom and turned on the water. "Dean! In here."

Dean carried her to the bathroom and lowered her into the water.

John sprinted up the stairs. "Boys."

Sam turned around. "Dad something is wrong with her."

He knelt down beside Dean. "She wont wake up?"

"No, I did the sternal rub and everything. She didn't even flinch when I put her in the water."

John took over and held her so she didn't fall under the water. "Did anything happen before this?"

"Uh, uh... I woke up because I heard her whimper and she was shaking." Sam said.

"Shaking how?"

"It was dark, dad." Sam answered.

"Shaking like she was cold or shaking like she had a seizure?" John clarified.

Sam and Dean looked at each other.

"Kind of like a seizure... but not quite." Dean answered.

By that time, Brian and Bobby had woken up.

Sam elbowed his way to the tub. "Let me try to read her again." He shook his head. "Still nothing."

"Dean! Go downstairs and get the med kit." John ordered. He pulled her from the tub. "Sam, ice packs."

Bobby ran downstairs with Sam to gather packs.

John carried her to Sam's bed and helped Brian put her in dry clothes.

Brian rested her head in his lap. "She is so hot."

John took the med kit and handed the thermometer to Brian. He sorted through the meds for something to break a fever.

Brian read the thermometer three times before checking her again. "There is no way she is that high."

John looked at the temp. "Shit."

"Dad, how bad is it?" Dean asked.

"If we don't get her cooled down, now, we need to take her to the hospital." John said, making eye contact with Sam and Dean.

Bobby was stunned. "Missouri called during the night and asked to talk to her. I'll get her on the phone again."

Sam handed the icepacks to John and John placed them around Kate's body. "Here, for her head."

Brian took the pack and placed it on Kate's forehead.

Kate couldn't hear or see anything for what felt like hours. She heard a ticking sound and turned her head. Her whole body was stiff and hurt. "Help." She heard footsteps and her blood chilled. She tried to move her arms but the were still bound. The ticking got louder. She heard distant noises but couldn't make out what was making them. She was terrified

Time passed and Kate's temp was still high. They had lowered it to 104 but it wasn't budging past that.

"Should I call an ambulance?" Sam asked.

Brian bounced his leg. "I don't know." He looked at John.

John listened to her breathing and heartbeat. He looked her over for any sign of what could be causing the fever. Her limp nodes weren't swollen. "I-I don't know what is causing it. This isn't normal. If she had an infection, something would be swollen or she would have a rash."

Sam grabbed her hand. He heard the ticking sound but saw nothing. He sat back and furrowed his brows.

"What is it, son?" Bobby asked.

"Ticking." Sam said.

They were all confused.

"Why can't I read her?" Sam was frustrated with himself.

The phone rang and Bobby brought it upstairs. "Missouri, you are on speaker."

They told her as much as they knew.

"My necklace got real hot and I called her to check on her. Poor thing. I told her to save her strength. I didn't know this was going to happen." She was worried.

Kate felt more heat and cried out. She felt like she was boiling. She turned her head toward movement. She saw a wall of clocks. She still couldn't move. "Please, help." One of the clocks buzzed and she heard howling and the scratch of claws. The sound stopped for a few minutes before returning along with screaming. She tried to sit up or twist her hands free but she was bound well. She slowed her breath. Dean taught her how to slip out of ropes. She cried when she remembered his name and face. She felt so so far away. She stopped struggling and forced herself to relax. She used the techniques he taught her freed her hands. She was weak but managed to sit up and untie her legs and loosen the rope around her neck. She crawled across the floor, trying to avoid making any noise. Where am I? She froze when another clock buzzed. The howling returned and left before returning again with heart wrenching screams. She covered her mouth to stifle her own scream. She closed her eyes and slowed her breath again. What do I hear? What do I smell? What do I feel? She heard the crackle of flames and the clocks. The scent of sulfur hit her, nearly choking her. She was hot. The air was thick with heat. Her eyes adjusted to the darkness. She crawled closer to the row of clocks. Another buzzed and she bit her arm as a set of hounds ran past her. She realized what the clocks were for.

"Is this a psychic thing or a virus, Missouri?" John asked, impatiently.

"I don't know, John." Missouri answered, sadly.

Sam tried to read her again. He could still hear the ticking and feel heat on his face. "This doesn't make sense." He reached down and touched the bracelet on her ankle. He grunted and drew his hand back.

"Sammy?" Dean grabbed his shoulders.

Sam held out his hand, three of his fingers were blistered from the heat.

Kate tried to find her dad's clock. She felt a surge of pure fire wrap around her ankle and whimpered. She looked down, her bracelet was glowing brightly. She tried to cover it. She didn't want to make herself into a beacon.

Sam paced back and forth before running downstairs.

Brian brushed hair from Kate's face. "Come on, honey, wake up."

Sam ran to the bathroom and turned the water back on.

"Sam, what are you doing?" Dean asked.

"Holy water. Help me."

Dean didn't question him.

Kate laid eyes on a clock with the name Brian O'Connor written underneath. She tried to reach for it but she felt hot breath on the back of her neck. She froze in place. She flinched when a low growl rumbled, right behind her head.

Dean grabbed Kate from the bed and ran back to Sam.

"Dean!" John ran after him.

Dean shrugged. "I trust him." He put her in the tub and quickly dunked her face under.

Kate cried out for help as she heard sharp teeth snap. Suddenly she was under an ocean of water, fighting to break free. She came up for a breath of air and screamed.

"Kate, Katie. You're okay. Hey, I'm right here." Dean said, wrapping his arms around her.

Sam fell back and put his head in his hands.

"Daddy!" Kate cried.

Brian grabbed her and rocked her in his arms. "Baby, you are okay now."

It took a half hour for her to stop panicking.

"Her fever is gone." John said with relief.

Sam cleaned up the bathroom where water had splashed everywhere and sat down on his bed, exhausted. He had tears dripping down his face.

Dean sat beside him. "How'd you know that was going to work?"

"I got lucky."

Dean put his arm around Sam's shoulder. "No, you saved her."

Sam was shaky and at a loss for words.

Kate was the same. She had calmed down but couldn't stop crying and didn't want to eat or drink. She had a death grip on Brian and wouldn't let go.

Bobby brewed coffee and started on breakfast. He made pancakes in hopes that she would eat.

John handed Brian a cup of coffee and went to find Sam. He sat down across from the boys.

Sam looked up but hung his head. He wiped away the tears that were on his face.

"Was it a vision?" John asked gently.

"I think so but something was keeping me out." Sam said.

"Do you think it was demon related?"

Sam nodded. "That is why I tried the holy water."

John tried to read Sam's face. "Sam, where was she?"

Sam ran his hands through his hair. "Hell. I think she was in hell."

Dean tensed. "Why would she be there? She is just a kid!" He got up and paced angrily.

John grabbed his wrist and pulled him to sit down beside him. "Why do you think she was in hell?"

Sam shivered. "I just had a feeling, okay?"

John nodded. "Would you like to be left alone right now?"

"Yes, please." Sam said, weakly.

John stood up and nodded for Dean to do the same. "Let us know if you need anything, I'll bring up some coffee."

Sam laid down on his bed. "Thanks, dad."

"I don't want to just leave him alone. He needs me." Dean said in a whisper.

John gave him a look. "Give him a minute."

Dean felt useless. He couldn't comfort Sam and he couldn't comfort Kate. He knelt down beside Brian. "How is she doing?"

"I think she is in shock." Brian said, rubbing her back.

Dean put his hand on her. Her arm was chilled. He grabbed one of his flannels and gingerly put it on her.

Kate pulled the front up to her face and covered her mouth and nose with it. She settled into Brian's chest and closed her eyes.

Dean choked back his own tears. She could have every single one of his shirts if it meant she could relax.

Bobby brought Brian a plate of food. "She looks calmer."

Brian smirked and flicked the collar of the shirt.

Bobby smiled warmly and patted Dean on the back. "I think she's imprinted on ya."

Dean grabbed his own plate of food and helped Brian get Kate to eat a few bites. He held out his cup. "I'll let you take a few sips, as long as you drink something."

Kate crinkled her nose.

Dean shrugged. "How about some orange juice?"

She took a few sips and laid her head back on Brian's shoulder.

Dean put his plate down and looked at her. He went up to the room and grabbed Sam's pillow and his own blanket.

"Why are you taking my pillow?" Sam asked.

Dean shrugged. "For Katie."

Sam shrugged back.

Dean put Sam's pillow down beside Brian and held his blanket up.

Kate blinked at him slowly but rolled off of Brian's lap and laid her head down.

He tucked the blanket around her and brushed hair from her face.

Brian gave him a small smile.

Dean took both plates and took them to wash.

"Do you remember when you were little, I'd draw dream glasses for you?"

Kate nodded slightly.

"Do you want me to do that?"

She nodded again.

He shifted slightly. "What kind do you want?"

Kate yawned. "Surprise me."

Brian smiled warmly and drew circles on her face with his fingers. He let a tear fall as she relaxed and fell asleep. Once she was breathing evenly he let go of the breath he had been holding.

Everyone relaxed a little once she fell asleep.

Dean went upstairs to talk to Sam. "Are you okay, Sammy?"

Sam looked tired. "Yeah. I'm just thinking. What if I didn't help her?"

"You did, though." Dean passed him his coffee and a plate.

"Why is this happening to her, and not me?"

Dean rubbed his face. "I don't know. Maybe because she pushed more."

Sam shook his head. He was getting a headache. He ate his food and sat the plate down. "I think I'm going to sleep while she does."

"Alright. You know where to find me." Dean said, patting his shoulder and taking his dirty dishes.

"How is Sam?" John asked.

"He is shaken and is going back to bed." Dean answered.

John was deep in thought. He was a bit shaken himself. Seeing her in that state, with that high of a fever had scared him. They could have easily lost her had Sam not snapped her out of it.

###########

Kate slept for three blissful hours. She was weak and groggy when she woke up. Her body hurt and her throat was on fire.

Brian picked her up and wrapped his arms around her. "Hey there Katiebug."

Kate didn't talk, just let him hold her.

"Do you want something to drink?"

Kate nodded her head slightly.

Dean walked in when he heard Brian talking. "Do you want some hot coco with whipped cream?" He asked, gently.

Kate gave him a small smile. "And marshmallows?"

"Anything you want, kid." Dean pulled out the stuff for hot chocolate and started to make it.

Bobby put his hand on Dean's back. "Is she awake?"

Dean nodded. "Do we have any marshmallows left?"

Bobby rubbed his chin. "Let me look." He rummaged around the pantry in search of marshmallows. He found a few left in a small bag. "Will this do?"

Dean shrugged. "If not I'll be making a store run." He smirked. He carried the mug back to Kate and offered it to her.

She looked into the cup. "Did you make a smiley face?"

Dean grinned sheepishly.

Kate smiled. "Thanks, Dean."

He reached out and touched her nose. "Any time." He grabbed his shoes and stretched before going for a run.

John met him on the porch and slipped his own shoes on. "Mind if I tag along?"

Dean smirked. "If you can keep up."

John smacked him on the back and took off jogging. It had been a long time since he had been on a run with either of the boys.

Dean rolled the sting out of his shoulder and ran to catch up. "Cheap shot."

They ran side by side for a couple miles.

Dean slowed down and sat down to rest on a side rail. He wasn't tired but his chest was tight.

John stopped and sat down too.

Dean hung his head. "She is just a kid, dad."

"I know, son. She is a tough kid but just a kid. She isn't going to hell. I don't know what the vision meant but she will not be going to hell." John said.

Dean shuttered. "Can kids even go there?"

John didn't know. "She isn't going to."

"Why would she get so sick from a vision? Why do things have to happen to her?"

"We can talk to her when she is ready. There is no sense trying to guess the cause when we do not have all the information. She is going to be okay." John said.

"How could you possibly say she is going to be okay?" Dean snapped.

John put a hand on his shoulder. "We have her back."

Dean rubbed the back of his neck. The morning had about broken him and he was trying to keep his wits together. Sam being affected didn't help his nerves either. He stood up and popped his back. "I could go for another few miles."

"Right with you, son. Just lead the way." John said.

Dean ran until he needed water. He downed the bottle of water he brought with him. He put his hands behind his head and took deep breaths to calm his heart rate. Running always cleared his head. He heard the sound of a motor and quickly stepped off the road way.

John saw the movement and did the same. "What is it?"

Dean put his hand up. "Don't know yet." The car zipped by.

John started to walk back onto the shoulder of the road but stopped when Dean said to.

"Just wait a second. I think it is going to come back."

John cocked his head to the side but followed Dean's lead.

The car did return and slowed down as it got near.

Dean ducked behind a tree and jerked his head toward the thick woods.

John followed him through the trees and only stopped once they got to Bobby's land. "Dean, what?"

Dean put his hands on his knees to catch his breath. "That car has passed by me a few times before while I was running. I don't know what the deal is but I don't trust whoever it is."

John wiped the sweat from his face. "Why didn't you mention it before?"

Dean shrugged. "The first time was odd but it isn't that weird for car to go by and then head back to town."

John sat down on the steps. Was this connected to Kate or something entirely different?

Kate crinkled her nose when Dean walked by the couch and ruffled her hair. "You are gross."

Dean wiped the sweat from his face and acted like he was going to wipe it on her.

She pulled her head back and held the blanket over her face.

He chuckled and darted up the stairs to shower off.

John walked into Bobby's office and spoke to him in hushed tones. He wanted to check the warding and add new sigils to the property, just incase.

Sam finally made his way down the stairs and sat down beside Katie. "How are you feeling?"

Kate shrugged.

He put his hand on her leg. "I'm glad you're awake."

Kate chewed her fingers. "Did you see it?"

Sam paused. "I'm not sure. When I would try to read you, I would only see empty space. It was weird."

Kate frowned. She was still trying to wrap her head around what had happened. She turned to Brian, "Dad, is it okay if I go talk to Sam?"

Brian hugged her. "Of course, Bug."

Kate's legs were weak so Sam picked her up and carried her to their room. She felt like she had been carrying a ton of weight and her bones hurt. "I'm cold."

Sam threw Dean's jacket around her shoulders and wrapped a blanket around her. "Better?"

She nodded and pulled the hood of the jacket over her head.

Sam let her sit in silence for a while. "What happened?"

Kate closed her eyes tightly. "I kept having bad dreams but I dreamed that I had meningitis again, or something but vines that were rope pulled me under the ground and I woke up, tied up." She told him about the howling and the clocks on the far wall.

Sam sat back. "Do you think you were actually there?"

Kate shook her head. "I think it was just a vision but I could feel everything. What does it mean, Sam?"

Sam didn't know. "Could you possibly show me?"

Kate grimaced. "I can try."

Sam took her hand and closed his eyes. Images flashed before his eyes. He pulled his hand back and stared at her.

Kate let tears fall. "It was scary."

Sam wracked his brain for an explanation. "Maybe it was a fever dream."

Kate nudged him with her foot. "Seriously, Sam."

He shrugged. It would be easier if it had been a fever dream. "I guess the clocks are how much time is left on each deal. That would explain the alarm and the dogs."

Kate cringed. "I saw my dad's."

Sam hugged her. "Oh, Kate. I'm so sorry."

She cried. She had seen how much time was left and couldn't process it. Her dad still had weeks left but the clock didn't reflect that. She didn't know if it was a vision of the future or if something had changed. Maybe it was just her anxiety playing tricks on her. Demons couldn't break deals, could they?

Dean stepped into the room and grabbed an extra shirt from his dresser. "Kid, if you keep taking my clothes, what am I supposed to wear?" He said, flicking the hood of his jacket.

Kate pulled the hood farther down on her head and stuck her tongue out at him.

He sat down on the other side of her.

Kate sighed and frowned. She couldn't show Dean what she showed Sam because he didn't have those abilities.

Sam did his best to explain what she showed him.

Dean picked her up and cradled her and the blankets on his lap. "Kid, that is some heavy stuff."

"I think I know when it is going to happen." She said sadly.

Sam furrowed his brows. "How?"

Kate blushed. "Well, I uh... I got out of the ropes and um... looked around."

Dean snorted. "Of course you did."

She pinched him. "Hey, you taught me how to. Anyway, I saw my dad's clock and saw the time left on it."

Dean sighed. "We know how much time though."

Kate shook her head. "This was a different time."

Sam touched her arm. "That doesn't mean that it will happen at that time."

Kate bit her lip. "You are right. It just makes me worry. What if they come early?"

Dean smoothed her hair down. "Then we will handle it."

Kate knew when things would happen, so she could do the spell.

Dean looked into her eyes. "What ever you are planning, stop."

Kate scoffed. "What makes you think I am planning something?"

Dean chuckled. "I know you."

Kate whined. "Come on, I want to do the spell."

"How about, we all talk about it and you share this new information. Sneaking around and lying is going to land you right back where you were last time."

Kate blushed. "Oh."

Dean ruffled her hair. "We are on your side, kiddo. Do you want to go back downstairs?"

She nodded her head. "I guess I have to. How am I going to tell my dad?"

Dean frowned. "I think he already knows, kid."

Kate's chest hitched but she forced herself to focus. She didn't know how, but she was going to be the one that did the spell, not John.
