60. The Heart of the Palace.
With the possessed Bowser dealt with the way to the Shadow Queen is finally open, without hesitation Mario and Geno rush to their final Duel.
Mario and Geno stepped into the dark room, in the center stood Rozalin, she was looking down at the floor, behind her stood the coffin the Queen was trapped in.
'Rozalin!' Mario shouted Geno stopped him as he wanted to rush to her.
Rozalin chuckled as she looked up her eyes were glowing red.
'Kali.' Geno growled.
'Geno, it has been a while.' The Shadow Queen replied.
Mario activated his Duel Disk Geno did the same.
'Come now, you seem to be in a hurry.' Kali calmly spoke she rose her hand five cards appeared in it. 'I'll gladly fight you, but why not join me instead? You dispatched Smithy and his army, you took down the X-Nauts, you've beaten Grodus in his own game, Grave, Dimentio and Azrael all died by your hands, not a small feat even gods fell before you, think about what we can do together.'
Geno let out a laugh. 'You've got to be kidding, I'll never join you again.'
Mario shook his head. 'No deal Shadow Queen.'
Kali sighted: 'If you don't join me you leave me no choice but to kill you.'
'I'd choose dead over joining you.' Mario growled Geno agreed with his friend.
'So be it then.' Kali spoke she snapped her fingers the candles around the chamber started to burn with black flames, purple mist formed around her hand the mist slowly crawled into the five cards she held.
'The Deck of this girl won't do, with my own personal touch it will serve me well.' She said once the mist was gone she spread her arms again this time the same mist poured out of the coffin into the chamber.
'Last chance to join me Mario, for Geno it's too late I've lost my patience with him, turn against him, beat Geno and I'll give you a seat at my council once I get rid of Star Haven.'
Mario looked at Kali for a second, he felt the immense power radiating from her.
'It will be the easiest way out, nobody can deny you're incredibly powerful but still I need to try, I will stop you Kali, the world cannot be plunged in darkness!'
The Shadow Queen's eyes narrowed. 'Then bring it.' She growled.
'Duel!' Mario and Geno shouted.
(Geno & Mario: 8000) - (Kali, the Shadow Queen: 8000)
Kali stood still it looked like she didn't want the first move.
'Fine.' Geno growled as he drew his card: 'She wants us to go first to keep us guessing.'
Geno choose one card from his hand. 'I Normal Summon Xiangsheng Magician.' The young, pink-haired woman appeared, her normally pink robe-like armor had a darker color in the purple mist. (500 ATK)
'My turn ends.' Geno stated.
Mario looked over his cards, he never saw Kali swap out Rozalin's Deck for her own but seeing that purple mist go into her Deck it made him wonder what Kali did to Rozalin's Amazoness Monsters.
'I Summon Neo Space Connector.' Mario stated in a flash of light appeared a small male dressed similar to Neos, half of his head was covered by a loose fitting helmet, he tried to struck an heroic pose but it wasn't convincing. (800 ATK)
'When Connector is Normal Summoned I can Special Summon Neos from my Deck.' Mario explained the hands of Neo Space Connector started to glow two beams shot out they connected in mid-air the real Neos leaped out it gracefully landing on the Field, he then knelt down on one knee and crossed his arms. (2000 DEF)
'I end my turn.' Mario stated.
Kali held up her empty hand a card appeared in it.
'I ask you once more, stand down and live.' Kali spoke slowly she spread her arms the purple mist swirling around her slowly lifted her from the ground.
'No I'd rather take my chances.' Mario replied.
'Serving you again? I'd rather die.' Geno growled.
'I can arrange that.' Kali replied she sounded amused: 'A shame really with my power Geno you could have become a god.'
Geno shook his head. 'A god of what? You would plunge the world in darkness, there won't be much to rule over, besides I doubt you'd just give me the power of a god without some of restraint on it.'
The Shadow Queen chuckled. 'That is what I thought, but you made a mistake Geno, you think you can take me out only because I just got this vessel.' She had an amused smile on her face then she took a card.
'I reveal my Amazoness Queen so I can Special Summon Amazoness Spy from my hand.'
One of the cards from Kali's hand disappeared purple smoke appeared in front of her, a young woman stepped out, she was wearing a blood-red cloak with a hood, her mouth was covered with a black mask, under the cloak she wore a black, leather top a matching miniskirt her feet were bare, she wore pauldrons shaped like skulls, a necklace of skulls decorated her neck, in her hands she held daggers. (800 ATK)
'That looks like Amazoness Spy but something is off here.' Mario muttered.
'We need to be careful, that mist that went into the Deck, it has corrupted these cards, these Monsters bare the name of the originals but we don't know what they can do.' Geno replied.
'I shall now Set two cards.' Kali continued, two more cards disappeared from her hand both appeared vertically behind the Spy.
'Now my Amazoness Spy shall kill Neo Space Connector.'
The Spy slightly rose her dagger then she dashed forward, the Neo Space Connector put his hands together a beam of light shot forth, the Spy grinned as she took the beam head on not giving up before the dagger was buried in the chest of her opponent.
'This is the power of my Fallen Amazoness tribe.' Kali said she spread her arms. 'I revealed Amazoness Queen to Special Summon Spy, the Queen is still in my hand which means I can now Special Summon her at the cost of 1000 of her Attack Points or 1000 of my Life Points.' She explained she started to glow red as a large woman appeared before her she was sitting on a fancy, stone throne she had long, blue hair one of her left eye was covered with an eye patch, she wore a breastplate lined with fur, a cloth lined with fur was tied around her waist, she wore leather braces around her wrists and sandals, a pitch-black, curved sword with a red gem in the hilt stood next her throne stuck in the ground, gracefully the woman stood up from the throne she casually pulled the sword out of the ground. (2400 ATK)
(Geno & Mario: 8000) - (Kali, the Shadow Queen: 7000)
'Since one of my Amazoness Monsters was destroyed I activate Amazoness Village of the Fallen.' One card disappeared from her hand it appeared on the Field: 'This card allows me to Special Summon an Amazoness with an equal or higher Level, the cost is a mere 500 Life Points for each Level it's higher, I Special Summon Amazoness Paladin from my Deck.'
Another Amazoness appeared this one was a tall, slender woman with blond hair coming from under a black hood, she wore a black, leather bra and a black waist cloth, she wore sandals similar to those of her Queen. (1700- 2100 ATK)
'This Fallen version of Amazoness Paladin gains 100 Attack Points for each Amazoness I control, when Special Summoned she gains another 100 for each Fallen Monster.' Kali crossed her arms then she grinned she glowed red again.
(Geno & Mario: 8000) - (Kali, the Shadow Queen: 6500)
'Paladin kill Xiangsheng!' Kali commanded, a small sword materialized in front of her she gracefully grabbed it then leaped forward.
'I activate the Effect of Performapal Odd-Eyes Dissolver!' Quickly Geno played a card, a man appeared before his Magician the man wore a full set of dark purple armor he materialized a staff out of thin air gracefully he blocked the sword of the Paladin. (2600 DEF)
'When my Pendulum Monster is attacked I can Special Summon Dissolver the Monster you attacked cannot be Destroyed by battle.' Geno explained.
'You still take the damage.' Kali replied Paladin leaped back then jumped again this time over Geno's Monsters she plunged her sword into Geno's chest, he felt an intense pain coursing through his body but he stood firm not showing anything.
(Geno & Mario: 6400) - (Kali, the Shadow Queen: 6500)
Quickly the purple mist in the room started to wrap around Geno's and Mario's legs.
'Amazoness Queen kill Neos!' Kali commanded with incredible strength the Queen threw her sword towards Neos then she leaped after it grabbing it out of mid-air before plunging it through Neos' head.
'My turn ends.' Kali stated.
Geno looked at Mario then he drew his card.
'Watch me my old friend, I'll show you how to deal with an ancient evil.'
Geno picked a card from his hand: 'I Summon Timegazer Magician.' He stated before him appeared a young-man with short, brown hair clad in a black tunic and matching pants, cloak, sandals and gloves, a small sword was visible on his back. (1200 ATK)
'Now Odd-Eyes Dissolver allows me to Fusion Summon a Dragon using Monsters him and other Monsters on the Field.' Geno explained a black portal opened up first Odd-Eyes Dissolver leaped through he was followed by the Timegazer Magician.
'I Summon Starving Venom Fusion Dragon!' Seconds later a poisonous liquid spout of the portal, a hideous dragon followed, snake-like in appearance it had a broad chest and long arms that ended in sharp claws it had a small head with two, yellow horns on top it had a nasty blade at the end of it's tail, it's skin was black and red the armor around it's shoulders was purple, many red orbs covered it's body. (2800 ATK)
'Starving Venom gains the Attack Power of a Special Summoned Monster you control Amazoness Queen in this case.' Some of the orbs etched in the dragon's skin started to glow, the terrifying beast let out a roar. (2800- 5200 ATK)
'Now I Target the Queen again to treat the name of my Dragon as Amazoness Queen.' Geno said even more orbs started to light up.
'Starving Venom Fusion Dragon attack Amazoness Paladin!' Geno shouted his beast unleashed a putrid breath, the Amazoness let out a scream before she got covered with the goo-like substance.
(Geno & Mario: 6400) - (Kali, the Shadow Queen: 3400)
'I activate the Effect of my Amazoness Queen.' Kali stated: 'The Amazoness Queen gains Attack Points equal to Paladin had on the Field.'
Geno shook his head as he interrupted her. 'By making Starving Venom's name that of Amazoness Queen it also gains her Effects, so I use the other Effect of the Fallen Amazoness Queen which allows Paladin to survive the assault.'
Kali shrugged slowly the poison disappeared from the Field, Amazoness Paladin was okay she slowly crawled back on her feet.
'Now I change Xiangsheng Magician to Defense Mode.' Geno turned the card on it's side the Magician knelt down. (1500 DEF)
'Then I end my turn with a facedown card.' As Geno said it the card appeared behind his Monsters, the glowing orbs on the dragon died out and the beast lost it's powers. (5200- 2800 ATK)
'My turn.' Mario stated as he draw his card his eyes glanced over the two reversed cards Kali had on her Field he shook his head.
'No time to start being afraid now, we got this I'll strike now so that Geno can finish it next turn.' He muttered Geno looked at him.
'Be careful Mario, this seems to easy, you've been working towards taking her out for a long time don't let your guard down at the last moment.'
Mario said nothing he knew his friend was right.
'Right I activate Monster Reborn!' He shouted, the holy symbol appeared on the Field and in a flash of light Neos appeared under it. (2500 ATK)
'Next I Summon Neo-Spacian Grand Mole!' A drill broke through the ground a mole with brown fur leaped out, the drill had formed around it's head slowly the drill split in half and moved over the small animal's shoulders. (900 ATK)
'Now Contact Fusion!' Mario roared Neos and the Grand Mole leaped into the air, they flashed white as their bodies fused together, a warrior landed on the ground having the body shape of Neos his skin had the brown color of Grand Mole's fur, green, blocky armor covered his shoulders, chest, his lower left arm and his legs, the left hand ended in sharp, black claws while he had a drill on his right arms instead of a hand. (2500 ATK)
'Finally I activate Neo Space!' Kali smirked as the tomb she was trapped in for countless years disappeared and made place for outer space, Grand Neos glowed with a pure, white light. (2500- 3000 ATK)
'The Effect of Grand Neos allows me to send a Monster back to the hand, I choose Amazoness Queen.' Mario stated Grand Neos leaped forward he activated his drill, the moment it hit Amazoness Queen she let out a gasp as her soul was punched out of her body first the body dissolved when Kali retrieved the card her soul also disappeared.
Amazoness Paladin looked around her to see if she had any allies left. (2100- 1900 ATK)
'I activate Amazoness Onslaught.' The Shadow Queen coldly replied one of her two reversed cards opened up into a Continuous Trap card.
'I know that card, when I attack she can Special Summon a Monster from her hand which is probably Amazoness Queen again it also raises her attack power with Amazoness Queen the Monster I attack can survive and with that Trap card face-up my Monster gets Banished.' Kali let out a humorless laugh.
'So instead I Set a card of my own and end my turn.' Mario quickly placed the card which appeared behind his Grand Neos.
Kali smiled as a new card appeared in her hand.
'You're amusing me, but all fun needs to end.' One of the cards in her hands disappeared. 'I Summon Amazoness Sage.'
Purple smoke gathered on the Field, a praying woman slowly appeared as the smoke dissolved she had long, blue hair wore a black, leather corset with a long, red skirt under it for the rest she wore a white cape with a hood that she wore down, slowly she stood up then she materialized a staff out of thin air. (1400 ATK)
'Battle.' Kali said with a grin: 'Amazoness Onslaught activates, which allows me to Special Summon a Monster then that Monster gains 500 Attack Points.' The Trap card started to glow more purple smoke appeared in the middle of the Field Amazoness Queen stepped out of it. (2400- 2900 ATK)
'Amazoness Sage attacks Xiangsheng Magician.
The Sage started to pray, her staff started to glow. 'The Effect of Fallen Amazoness Sage changes the position of her target.' Kali said the young magician stood up. (500 ATK)
Then Sage fired a volley of black arrows the screams of Xiangsheng Magician filled the Neo Space, more purple mist started to cover up Geno and Mario.

'Sage made a kill, now she can use her power to destroy a Spell or Trap card.' The Amazoness started to chant again, a loud buzzing sound echoed through Mario's Field Spell then with a loud explosion the entire space disappeared they were back in the burial chamber, Grand Neos fell to his knees as a part of his power disappeared. (3000- 2500 ATK)
'I add Queen's Pawn into the game.' Kali stated her second Trap card opened up. 'My Amazoness destroyed a Monster thus I can Special Summon one and I choose Amazoness Swords Woman!'
A third woman appeared out of the purple smoke, she had long, red hair which was sticking in all directions, she wore only a black, leather bikini top with matching bottom, she was barefoot in her hands she held a massive, black, demonic looking great sword. (1500 ATK)
Amazoness Paladin looked around her, she looked more confident now that she was surrounded by her clan mates. (1900- 2500 ATK)
'Amazoness Swords Woman attack Starving Venom Fusion Dragon!' Kali commanded the brave warrior leaped to the front, a poisonous blast coming from the maw of the dragon stopped her short in her tracks.
'The Effect of Fallen Swords Woman works the same as the original one only once per Duel I can pay 1000 Life Points to double the damage you took from that battle.'
Kali briefly started to glow, Swords Woman leaped out of the poison with incredible strength she brought her sword down on Geno.

'With the Effect of Amazoness Onslaught your Starving Venom Fusion Dragon is now Banished.' Kali grinned she spread her arms, a portal opened up behind the dragon the mighty beast was slowly pulled in.
'This way it's Effect to Destroy all my Special Summoned Monsters isn't activated.
Geno and Mario gave each other a look they knew one of their strategies was beaten, they had no much options left, slowly more mist covered their bodies, it made it hard to breath.
'Amazoness Queen kills Grand Neos!' Kali continued her assault, the Hero stood no chance against the queen of the tribe.

'And now Amazoness Paladin takes the kill!' Kali laughed her warrior leaped into the air her sword ready to strike.
'I activate Call of the Haunted!' Mario shouted in a flash Neo Space Connector appeared briefly before it got cleaved in half. (800 ATK)
(Geno & Mario: 800) - (Kali, the Shadow Queen: 2400)
'So you survived, how exiting you make it.' Kali smiled slowly more mist covered her opponents leaving only their heads in parts of their arms untouched, silently the Shadow Queen held up a card it disappeared from her hand and appeared behind her Amazoness Queen.
Geno looked at Mario then he drew his card. 'All or nothing.' He muttered.
'I Summon Nobledragon Magician.' He stated a young-looking woman with purple hair, she wore purple robes with white armor over it in front of her floated a white staff with a ''U'' shape at the top a magical gem was attached inside the ''U'' shape, it was kept afloat by magic. (700 ATK)
'Mario I need to borrow one of your Monsters.' Geno said quickly he played Monster Reborn in a flash Neo Space Connector appeared once more. (800 ATK)
'Now I Tune Level three Nobledragon Magician to Level four Neo Space Connector!'
A green light illuminated the area. 'Synchro Summon Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!'
the roar of giant beast sounded through the burial chamber, out of the darkness appeared a dragon it had strong arms ending in six-fingered claws, the beast had no legs but a long snake-like tail instead, the armor around the belly and wrists were blue, the dragon landed in front of Geno, he could see his own reflection in the dragon's wings. (2500 ATK)
'Next I Set the Pendulum Scale with Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!' A red crystal rose up from the ground in the crystal sat the red dragon it was asleep.
'Time for my Trap card.' Geno stated as the reversed card opened up: 'Pendulum Switch, this allows me to Special Summon Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon to my Field!'
The dragon inside the crystal woke up, it's different colored eyes gleamed, cracks appeared in the crystal with a roar it broke and the dragon leaped on the Field. (2500 ATK)
'Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon attacks Amazoness Sage!' Geno commanded.
The red dragon roared again before unleashing a barrage of flames.
'I activate Spell of the Fallen!' Kali replied her reversed Trap card opened up. 'Since I have a Fallen Monster on the Field and in the Graveyard I can activate a Quick-Play Spell from my Deck, at the cost of my next Draw Phase.' The Trap card changed into Ego Boost Amazoness Sage started to glow as she grew stronger. (1400- 2400 ATK)
The woman tried to block the flames but she couldn't stop all of them.
(Geno & Mario: 800) - (Kali, the Shadow Queen: 2200)
'Even with double damage taken that was laughable, Amazoness Queen allows Sage to be killed so she can absorb her power.' Kali stated she started to laugh.
Amazoness Paladin grew weaker. (2500- 2300 ATK)
'I was waiting for that.' Geno said with a grin the laughter of Kali stopped.
'Clear Wing Synchro Dragon destroys the Monster that tries to use an Effect then it gains Attack Points equal to the destroyed Monster's Original Attack!'
Kali shielded her eyes as the wings of the dragon started to shine with a holy light, the darkness surrounding Mario and Geno dissolved Amazoness Queen screamed as she was vaporized. (2500- 4900 ATK)
'Now attack!' Geno howled the dragon focused the radiant light into a beam with a scream Amazoness Paladin got cut down then the beam hit Kali.
(Geno & Mario: 800) - (Kali, the Shadow Queen: 0)
Kali slumped over, purple mist gathered around her, an evil, black aura flared up around Rozalin.
'This won't be over.' She spoke her voice was calm.
'It is over Kali.' Geno said: 'Mario now!' Mario rose his hand the crystal stars appeared circling around him.
'Your soul will be sealed once more and this time permanently!' Geno said Mario aimed his hand at the Shadow Queen the stars launched up to the ceiling then one-by-one they descended circling around the Shadow Queen, multiple colored light shot forth from the Crystal Stars.
Slowly Rozalin fell to the ground her screams were combined with those of Kali's soul.
'Mario be prepared to pull Rozalin out of there.' Geno said Mario nodded.
Suddenly a loud bang sounded through the chamber, Grodus slowly walked forward his smoking gun in his hand, the screams stopped Rozalin fell to the ground, a sharp, screeching sound came from the Crystal Stars, the actual Crystal Star had a crack in it, where the bullet hit.
'Go away accursed things!' Kali yelled a wave of darkness shot forth from her body the Crystal Stars got caught in it, cracks appeared in all of them then slowly they turned to stone one-by-one the fell down leaving small craters where they landed, Rozalin stood up she turned to Grodus.
'You have given me the wrong host!' She shouted.
'I did indeed.' Grodus replied: 'With the wrong host body you can't resist my command, Kali you're my puppet, I gave you this body so that I can control your power, I knew Mario would try to seal you with the Crystal Stars now gone he cannot.'
Grodus took a few steps back: 'Now my puppet kill them.'
Kali chuckled. 'Fool!' She shouted: 'By destroying the Crystal Stars you separated my soul from the fake host.' purple mist gathered around Rozalin, a figure started to appear, it was a female shape without legs, the mist forming the figure was connected to the coffin, the soul had a human torso with long arms and a head with red, glowing eyes and long dark-purple hair a crown made of gold sat on top of her head.
'Finally I am free.' Kali spoke, she spread her arms Rozalin's body was lifted from the ground. 'I don't need this body any longer.' She said then the body flung across the room Geno used his magic to catch her.
'She's still alive.' He said before he put Rozalin on the ground.
'Kali!' Geno then yelled the Shadow Queen turned around.
'You shall have to wait Geno, I'll deal with this filth first.' She said then looked at Grodus, a wall of black flames appeared around him and the Shadow Queen.
Next time:
Even though Mario and Geno won and freed Rozalin the fight is far from over.
Grodus revealed his true colors wanting to use the Shadow Queen as his puppet but by destroying the Crystal Stars the Queen's soul was finally freed for real and now she looms over Grodus to take her revenge on the X-Naut leader ''The Queen Unleashed'' coming next.
