CHAPTER SIXTY

Ginny looked in the mirror, turning her head this way and that to make sure that everything was perfect. Two years. It was two years since that day that had changed everything, since Voldemort had finally been defeated. Those in power had spent that time rooting out the last of his followers and reforming the areas of the ministry that had allowed him to seize power so easily. And now, on the anniversary of that victory, Ginny had the perfect way to celebrate.

Hermione and Luna entered behind her, just in time to catch her admiring her reflection. "You look beautiful, Ginny,"Hermione said with just a hint of annoyance. "You always do."

"So do you two,"Ginny assured her. "I imagine there's a couple of gentlemen out there who will definitely have eyes only for you."

"That will be nice,"Luna agreed.

Katie came in. "Everything's ready."

Ginny got up. "Thanks for being here for me."

"I'm surprised you asked me."

"Well…I didn't actually have that many female friends at Hogwarts. I'd count you among them."

Bill entered wearing his best dress robes. He looked Ginny up and down. "Wow, Ginny. If you weren't my sister…"

"You'd consider dumping Tonks?"

Bill gave a quick laugh. "Well, I won't go that far. But since you are my sister, how about I settle for giving you away?"

Ginny took his arm. "It's what you're here for."

The wedding of the Girl Who Lived could have been a huge affair, if Ginny had let it. But she'd had enough of huge affairs. Not that it was exactly a small affair. It seemed like about three years worth of Hogwarts students had managed to get invites, along with several of the staff, numerous family members, a good chunk of the Order of the Phoenix and the entire Wimbourne Wasps first team. But most importantly, there was Harry, standing at the front with Neville.

Ginny noticed that, as she'd predicted, Neville's gaze was fixed on Hermione. She'd wondered if the pair would end up walking down the aisle before her and Harry, given that they'd both left Hogwarts before her. For the moment though, they seemed content to carry on living together in their flat on Diagon Alley, over the combined book and plant shop they'd set up.

Ginny also noticed Colin looking over at Luna. The two of them had got together in their last year at Hogwarts, after Luna and Cedric had drifted apart and amicably split. Cedric had been spending a lot of time with Fleur since then; Ginny couldn't help noticing the pair were sat together. Fred, George and Angelina were sat near the front and Ginny realised that George was spending more time than necessary looking at Katie. She'd have to watch that. Maybe her third bridesmaid would end up as her sister-in-law.

Harry had gone into professional Quidditch after leaving school. There had been plenty of offers for Ginny to follow him, but then there had been plenty of offers for employment from almost all walks of life. In the end, she'd taken a post with the Department of Muggle Affairs. The split between the magic and muggle worlds was one of the key reasons Voldemort had been able to latch onto it as an ideology. She hoped she'd be able to steer things in a different direction.

She paused briefly to smile at Uncle Keith and Aunt Mel. She'd considered asking her uncle to give her away, to the point that she'd felt the need to apologise to him for asking Bill instead. But they both looked glad just to be there.

Finally, Ginny was alongside Harry. He smiled and took her hands. "You made it."

"We made it,"she corrected. Still holding hands, they turned round and proceeded to get married.
