Once it was confirmed that the Malfoys weren't in their home anymore, Voldemort decided to work on the next two things on his to-do list. First, he absolutely needed to find a way to break his followers out of Azkaban, it was important, he needed them. Plus he had heard that Rose Potter's adoptive mother was there and since she was in jail because of the girl, and considering the things she said in last summer's interview, maybe she'd be willing to join him and help him kill the Potter twins.
Secondly, he needed a new wand, a powerful wand.
His first idea had been to kidnap Ollivender and force him to make him a new one, but Dumbeldore had convinced the old man to up his security and it was hard to get him without bringing attention to the fact that he needed a new wand. Since Ollivander was protected, it meant that, most likely, Dumbledore had warned him, meaning that the old headmaster knew he'd be afraid of using his own wand against Harry Potter.
Would it work against Potter's twin sister? Would he be able to kill her with it or did their twin bond expend? He really couldn't take the risk, he absolutely needed another wand, and to be sure it would work, he needed a legendary wand, a very powerful one.
Of course he heard, like a lot of wizards, the legend of the most powerful wand in the world, but was it just a legend or did such a wand really exist? If it existed, where was it? Did someone have it in their possession or did it lay in a dark cave somewhere, waiting to be taken by someone worthy? He really needed to interrogate a wandmaker and if Ollivander was untouchable, then he'd simply go to the second best wand maker he knew of: Gregorovitch.
As much as he wanted to speak with Gregorovitch, his first task was to find a way to break into Azkaban and he needed to do it soon because if the rumors of dragons coming to guard the prison were true, it would be even harder.
Rumors had it that Centaurs might join the guards but they weren't there yet and it was hard to convince them because it wasn't an environment they liked and they wanted to stay on their own. That served Voldemort quite well, but he had to act before they changed their minds and joined in.
Of course the dementors who had been sent away from the prison were by his side and would help him, but it wouldn't be enough. They had wizards, goblins and trolls to deal with.
Trolls would be easy enough to handle, all they'd need is brute force.
Goblins were formidable warriors and hard to trick, but a strong sleeping potion designed especially for them would work, Severus would make it and if he didn't have the time, he'd task another Death Eater to do it, it was an easy enough recipe to follow, it just took time. The potion was old, ancient, and very hard to find because rumor had it that Goblins had destroyed every copy of it they could find.
Voldemort had found the last copy of this special potion last summer, when he attacked a potion maker. He had told his followers that they were attacking him because he had married a muggle woman, but really, he had done it because he had copies of rare and ancient potions. Sure enough, in a vault, hidden behind a muggle picture, he had found a few old parchment with ancient potions on them. Each potions had warnings and Voldemort had kept everything that could have turned out useful eventually. He had been right to do it of course.
The wizards he'd handle, he was strong and he'd have dementors with him.
"My Lord, when do you want us to move against Azkaban?" Rosier asked him as he sat in an armchair in his muggle father's home.
"The potion for the goblins will take a few weeks to be ready, because we'll need to vaporize it at them. I think we should chose a special date. We'll do it on the 31st, to celebrate the Potter's birthday." Voldemort decided.
"My lord, I wouldn't want to disrespect you, but isn't that something they'd expect since we attacked last year for their birthday?" Rosier asked, shaking in fear of offending his Lord.
"Do you think I haven't thought about this? It's because we did the same thing last year that they won't expect anything this year." The Dark Lord replied angrily, as though he had explained the same thing 100 times before and he should have know.
"Very well, My Lord." Rosier nodded.
"You'll make sure we have all the necessary ingredients. Nott will make the potion." Voldemort decided.
"Nott? Why not Severus?" Rosier asked, surprised.
"Because Severus has more important things to do, this potion has a peculiar smell that sticks to the potion maker and Dumbledore could detect it. We can't risk him recognizing it." Voldemort shook his head.
Rosier should have known that. Why was he surrounded by such idiots? Why were all the smart ones either dead or away?
Thinking of the dead death eaters made Voldemort frown as he dismissed Rosier.
He still needed to find someone to replace Bellatrix in the special mission he had in mind.
Who could replace her? He could have asked Narcissa Malfoy, but now she was away, and since she hadn't had another child with Lucius, he wasn't sure she would have been able to do it.
"Nagini, who do you think I should chose to carry my heir?" He asked his snake once they were alone.
"I'd offer my services but being a Maledictus and being stuck in this form... Probably not a good idea... Umbridge is crazy enough that we'd probably be able to convince her to do it once she's out of Azkaban..." Nagini replied, at first with humor, then seriously.
"Azkaban... I wonder if Jenny Collins, Rose Potter's adoptive mother, would be a willing candidate..." He replied thoughtfully.
"Maybe... There's always the imperius but it would have to last a long time... Or a love potion, it's also an option... I don't like the wives of your most trusted followers... I really liked Bellatrix." Nagini declared thoughtfully, shaking her snake head in a very human manner.
"Me too. Maybe one of the younger recruits... Pay attention to them all in the next few weeks, all the women who are still able to reproduce. You have a good instinct, inspect them all. It will help us decide who to trust with our very special mission. It will have to stay a secret, someone we can trust not to speak to anyone. Someone out of school, who won't be under Dumbledore's eyes." Voldemort decided.
"Of course. And you're right, maybe this Jenny Collins will be willing. She's young enough that she'd be able to reproduce... She's not too bad looking according to the picture of her that was in the Daily Prophet... Or Dolores... Don't worry, we'll find the right candidate. Maybe one of the students, like the Parkinson girl..." Nagini assured him.
"She'd have to raise the child for the first few years, I don't want to have to change any diapers or do any midnight feeding. I don't think Dolores Umbridge would be a good candidate. I want a pretty child too and she's..." he reminded the snake, shaking his head.
"There's always the possibility of getting a house elf to do that, feeding it, cleaning it, changing the diapers... Or get one of your follower to do it. Don't worry, we'll find the right person." Nagini nodded before she went closer to the fire.
"I hope you're right. Having a child is the best way to live forever. This heir could help me start a dynasty that will live on forever." Voldemort replied before he stood up and went to the table, planning on examining everything his spies had gotten on Azkaban.
What did you think of this look into Voldemort's thoughts? Do you think he'll manage to have a child like he wants? Who would be the mother?
