Byaruki thoughts: Side stories for Game of Life

DISCLAIMER : I do not own anything from this story. Entertainment purposes only.

A/N: since I think that I was grasping at straws on Game of Life, I decided to document the supposed events that can support this pairing.

A/N: this chapter will be very long, and highly beneficial…. At least for me. I hope you will get value in it as well.

This would be the last chapter of this style, before we are going back to the regular edition.

Chapter 5: A new start [part 9]: Lessons from Sir Carnegie's book

[Be a leader: How to change people without giving offense or arousing resentment]

A month has passed, and Rukia was finally allowed to resume her shinigami duties.

But not without issues though.

As some shinigamis came to either congratulate her, or ask curious questions. People, who never tried to approach her before.

And Rukia was pleased to finally be welcomed in her squad, as a fellow shinigami, without any noble treatment.

The normalcy, she wanted.

And aside from that, Captain Ukitake had assigned her to perform vice-captain duties: such as training the new recruits, and leading group missions outside of Seiretie.

In which, she did not mind, seeing as after Kaien passed away, no one since, had taken the position of lieutenant in squad 13th.

And no one knew why…

[If you must find fault, this is the only way to begin: begin with praise and honest appreciation]

As Rukia trained the cadets, she could not help but notice this recruit who seemed incompetent.

And thus, she approached her, seeing as, the cadets has a really bad form in welding her sword.

How could she be able to fight the hollows? If she couldn't even hold her sword properly.

"Miyazatu-san?" Rukia called out to the new recruits, who she discovered to be from noble family.

Who was admitted to the squad, much like how she was admitted.

Special treatment.

"I see that you are dedicated in your training. And your Kido is notable. And if you hold your sword a little firmly like this, I can see that you will become an impressive shinigami" Rukia commented at the scowling girl, who looks like she does not even want to talk to anyone.

But when she noticed Rukia, she immediately paid attention to her.

"Lady Kuchiki" the cadet greeted, in respect.

Rukia laughed awkwardly at this.

"No need to be formal, cadet. Here in 13th, I am just an ordinary shinigami just like everyone else. Call me Rukia" she declared, friendly, like Kaien used to do.

[How to criticize and not be hated for it: call to peoples mistakes indirectly]

And yet, as the training progress, the new recruit from earlier, couldn't follow the instructions, much less function in the group.

She really seemed to not like being around others.

But how will she be able to become a skilled shinigami, when one does not possess the necessary skills, and team work.

Rukia shook her head.

For she just can't give up on her trainee, without giving her all to help her, despite being unqualified.

And so, when their training ended, Rukia called the recruit away from everyone.

"Kai-san" Rukia started to say, as they sat on the grass field of the training ground.

The girl turned, and looked at her mentor.

"Will you spar with me?" Rukia offered, firmly.

[Talk about your own mistakes first: before criticizing the other person]

"When I was in the academy, I have difficulty in holding my sword in a proper manner. And always get a lower grade in zanjustsu" Rukia started to say, as they face each other on the training field.

"and after years of dedicated training, I finally got the hang of it" she continued to say, as she draw her wooden sword.

"Do you want to see how I did it?" Rukia added, as she motioned for her to draw her sword.

And fight.

"if you raise your sword that high, you'll expose your torso, and the hollow will be able to deal a fatal attack on your weakness" Rukia commented as they seemingly dance as they clash sword. Enjoying the training session.

And Kai slightly lowered her arm, in response as she fought Rukia, using her wooden sword.

Rukia smiled at this.

For Kai had improved just a little bit, and is now enjoying the training.

[No one likes to take orders: ask questions instead of giving direct orders]

"Will you widen your pace a little?" Rukia asked as she noticed the way Kai stand. It was unbalanced.

And without even thinking much about it, Kai followed Rukia's every word. As she learned to dance.

It was a lovely experience.

[let the other person save face]

And then, Kai slipped and fell head first on the ground.

Rukia would have laughed, if the recruit was Ichigo, her first student. But bit her tongue instead, as she walks towards her.

Not an emotion present in her face.

Stoic.

As Rukia, let the recruit picked herself up, and fight again.

With respect, and no judgment.

For even the strongest and fiercest warrior, do fall.

Knowing how much pride noble people such as Kai, has, she kept her comments to herself.

[How to spur people on to success: praise the slightest improvement and praise every improvement. Be hearty in your appreciation and lavish in your praise]

"Impressive, your swing is better now" Rukia commented as Kai dealt an almost fatal blow, if she weren't as fast and agile as a high ranking shinigami.

And as the training progress, Rukia praised every move, Kai managed to pull off, successfully, even how little it was.

Unbeknownst to them, Byakuya and Ukitake had been watching their training session.

[Give a person a good name: give a person a fine reputation to live up to]

"Do you still think that Rukia should not be allowed a rank in my squad?" Ukitake commented after some thought.

At this, Byakuya just remained silent.

For he was so proud of Rukia, that he wanted to approach her himself.

But he would not.

He can't expose her to anymore harm, by allowing her a rank.

Not now.

If possible. Never.

[Make fault seem easy to correct : use encouragement]

But Kai still could not get the one move, Rukia had been teaching her.

"if you hold the handle a little firmly over your palm like this" Rukia encouraged as she showed Kai how to hold the sword in mid-flight.

And Kai followed suit. Repeating the move for several times.

All the while, Rukia kept praising her for her attempt.

[Making people glad to do what you want: Make the other person happy about doing the things you suggest]

And finally the training session ended.

Rukia smiled at Kai and congratulated her for her fast progress.

"Will you spar with me again, tomorrow with the group?" Rukia asked, as a subtle hint that, Kai hasn't learned the basic yet as effectively.

At the mention of group, Kai felt like backing away. For she does not want to be around peasants.

But, as she truly enjoys her training with Rukia, she had reconsidered.

Though she knew Rukia's origin, she decided that she liked her.

And maybe, she could tolerate being around the commoners, for just a little while.

Just until her mission ended.

To be continued…

. Yeah… the lessons seem morbid if you list them. But that's how successful people play the game, it's time for us to learn the rules.

The goal: better relationship with others.

P/N: the first time I realized that people aren't who they seem they are, and that there are people who knows better, and plays better.

I felt disgusted.

That I don't even want to get involve with life itself. That's why I am a bit suicidal… because now that I see those ugly truths, nothing makes sense any more.

Not love.

Not family.

Not even myself.

Or the world in general.

I am a nihilistic person of sorts, because I don't want to accept the reality of life.

It's like being offered to dive into poop tank, just to find pieces of gems. Not worth it.

But when I zoomed out of myself, and see things from the outside of the small earth.

We are comparable to enzymes in a cell. There are rules that govern how things work, so that they work. Either for the better or worst, it's up to us.

Because like sword, rules [such as social norms] can be wield to protect…. Or to harm.

The question is, how to use it as a weapon.

Awareness.

A/N: this are just personal musings.

And now, I found the system…. I will do my best to protect it with my life, and implement it, to the best of my best abilities.
