Chapter 6: My Only Pride: [Part 1]

That night, Rukia waited patiently for when Byakuya arrive for their dinner.

Apprehensive.

But excited, nonetheless.

Though, she should not feel that way.

Especially since, she's not going to the human world for a picnic. Instead, it would be another month long group mission.

The appearance of Espada.

Yet the thought of meeting everyone again in the human world, did feel great.

.

.

Byakuya had learned about Rukia's mission to the human world, and try as he may, to not get a little upset over it, he could not get off this nagging feeling.

This emotion of parting with her once more.

The fear of not seeing her again…

But duty comes first.

And so, as he entered the gate of his manor, he decided to spend time with her tonight, as much as he could.

.

.

The dinner had been silent as always.

Comfortable silence.

Acceptance.

Both knowing that words, isn't enough to address whatever concerns they have for one another.

What silence could impact.

"Are you out for a walk, Nii-sama?" Rukia asked softly, a bit shy, but she just had to ask.

For the sake of her heart, seemingly, commanding her to talk to him.

To tell him personally, about her mission.

That she will be gone again.

And…

Would miss his secure but silent presence.

Though she will never admit this thoughts.

"You can join me" Byakuya agreed as he turned away from her.

Trying his best to suppress this troublesome emotion.

Useless emotion.

As he would try to believe.

.

.

.

And thus they walked under the Sakura tree's swaying branches, blanketed by the starless night, and missing the moon.

Silence.

Peace.

"I will be going to the human world, Nii-sama" Rukia started to say, with a heavy heart, she doesn't know the reason of.

Silent met her initial words.

But the peace was gone.

Then the wind blows, carrying sakura petals, as it passed gently, as a petal touched her cheek.

Like a lovers caress.

"for a month… or so" Rukia added to divert her thoughts from the beauty of the person in front of her.

This is wrong!

She thought, as she dispel that troublesome feeling.

To be continued….
