Castle walks into the living room only to stop dead in his tracks looking at his wife with their daughter on her knee. He knows for a fact that she's working and so it takes him back that she's letting their three year old girl sit in her lap while doing that. They agreed not to let Lily see any of the possible gruesome pictures her job most often provides.
"Are you…" Castle starts but gets cut off when Lily looks up at him with the biggest hazel eyes he's seen on her.
"Look daddy, I helping mommy sove cases," Lily says proudly and his wife looks up at him with a small shake to her head.
"No pictures babe," she assures him and motions him to come closer.
He starts moving then and goes to stand behind them only to see Kate's divided the screen into two halves. One being the text of a report she's writing and the other being a puzzle show which Lily has been obsessed with ever since she started understanding puzzles. Technically she is solving cases, just not the same kind of cases her mommy does.
"Look at that, looks like fun! Can I join in?" Castle asks and his daughter nods as she fixes her eyes onto the screen again.
"It's the puple tiangle," Lily says and points to show Castle which is the answer to the current question.
"Good spot, peanut!" Castle says and Kate turns her head to smile up at him.
He smiles back before he leans down and kisses her lips.
"She wanted to help out and wouldn't take no for an answer," Kate explains and he nods.
"She is stubborn," he agrees and she rolls her eyes.
"And whose fault is that?" she asks and he chuckles.
"According to your dad, both of ours," he states and she smirks while she shakes her head a bit.
"Can I have another kiss?" she asks and he smirks right back.
"Of course," he says as he leans down and kisses her again.
"Daddy, help, this one hawd," Lily interrupts them and the two parents chuckle, pecking each other one last time before they break apart to turn back to the computer.
The end
