"Eggseter?" Kirei read the sign, then groaned. "Ow, that's a terrible pun."
Pun aside, Eggseter Town wasn't that bad of a place. It was a beautiful town surrounded by mountains, valleys and hills.
"It's probably called that due to the fact that there's a Moemon Day Care Center in this town." Laby guessed.
"Even still, the pun's horrible." Vulcanus muttered.
"Yo, Ash!" A voice called to Ash. The Aura Guardian immediately recognized the voice and turned to see his childhood rival approaching him, riding a skateboard being pulled by Lithe.
"Gary!" Ash called back, surprised to see him.
"Been a while since you last seen each other." Gary said, before noticing the Legendary Beasts. "And from the looks of it, you've certainly been busy."
"That's an understatement." Ash remakred. "So, what's up with the skateboarding?"
"Master and I are practicing for the Extreme Moemon Race." Lithe answered.
"Extreme Moemon Race?" Sanda repeated, sounding interested.
"Yep, but that's all we're gonna say." Gary said. "Smell ya later!" With his usual farewell, he and Lithe took off.
The gang then went to eat at a restaurant. "Who was that, big brother?" Molly asked.
"That was Gary." Ash replied. "He's a childhood rival of mine. Back then, we were always competing to be better than each other, but he believed he had an advantage since he's Professor Oak's grandson."
"Really?" Glimmer gasped. "I didn't know he was related to a famous professor!"
"Yes, but he let his pride and arrogance get to his head and got eliminated in the last round of the preliminaries of the Indigo League." Es said, before smirking. "Ash, on the other hand, won the whole thing. So that proves who the better trainer is, even though they didn't actually battle."
"Pride comes before fall, as they say." Vulcanus said, briefly remembering how she let her pride get the better of her against the illusionary male Entei created by the Unown.
"Yeah, but he's been training since then." Ash said before smiling a bit. "To be honest, it makes me really eager for the Silver Conference."
"Then we'd best get the last two badges." Sanda said.
"Yeah." Ash agreed. "But first, I'm interested about this Extreme Moemon Race."
"Oh, you are, are you?" An elderly voice as as they saw an old man sitting near them. "Well, I've participated in the Extreme Moemon Race a few times myself, so I will gladly help you participate in the race.
"Thank you, mister..."
"Shellby. Mr. Shellby." The old man introduced himself.
Mr. Shellby gave the gang a ride on his Tauros and cart. "So, Mr. Shellby, what's the Extreme Moemon Race about?" Ash asked.
"Well Ash, The Extreme Moemon Race is a sport that has been a tradition here in Eggseter Town for a while." Mr. Shellby explained. "A long time ago, before cars, trains, buses and bikes were invented, people used Moemon to travel from countryside to town, especially when there was an emergency. And even though we now have the aforementioned levels of travel, the people still love to ride with Moemon, so we came up with the sport for them to enjoy."
Just then, Tomo noticed a house with some people holding eggs. "Is that a Moemon Day Care Center?" He asked.
"Yes it is, Tomo." Mr. Shellby smiled. "There are a lot of Moemon Day Care Centers around here. In fact, my wife and I own one too."
"Ooh! Could we visit, please?" Molly asked, wanting to see some baby Moemon.
"It's been a while since we last visited a Day Care." Misty mused.
"I will gladly take you there." Mr. Shellby said.
Mr. Shellby brought the gang to his Moemon Day Care Center and introduced his wife to the gang, who was taking care of a Moemon Egg. "It's so nice to have some company here." Mrs. Shellby said kindly. There were lots of Moemon Eggs in the Shellby couple's Day Care Center, as well as some baby Moemon playing with each other.
"So cute!" The girls squealed.
Mr. Shellby helped Ash practice for the Extreme Moemon Race while the others were helping Mrs. Shellby care for the Moemon. Mr. Shellby gave Ash his old kit for the sport; a skateboard and some equipment that trainers held onto while the Moemon pull the skateboard. "So it's a skateboard race?" Ash asked.
"That's right." Mr. Shellby nodded. "Now, about which Moemon you'll use... I hope you don't plan on using any of your beasts. Otherwise, you'll blow out the competition."
'He isn't wrong.' Ash thought with a chuckle. "Don't worry. I actually have another Moemon in mind." He took out a Moe Ball and opened it, sending out Haruka. "Haruka, wanna try this out?" He asked.
"Sure." Haruka smiled, happy to participate with Ash.
It turns out that Ash was pretty good at skateboarding. He had skateboarded and mountain boarded a lot when he was younger, so picking up on the Extreme Moemon Race was quite easy. "Looks like I still got it." Ash grinned, having just taken a sharp turn with ease.
"So, you're gonna participate too, Ash?" Gary asked, having noticed Ash and Haruka practicing.
"Yep. It sounded like fun." Ash said. "Plus, it'll be nice to skateboard again."
"It's a nice refresher." Gary agreed. He and Ash have had a few skateboard races when they were younger. "Racing on skateboards just like back then... Don't think I'll go easy on you."
"Wouldn't count on it." Ash smirked.
The next day, it was time for the Extreme Moemon Race. Those who were not in the race were sitting in seats, and there was a camera and screen for the audience to see what was happening in the race. Pia, Es and the others were in the seats, while Ash and Gary, with Haruka and Lithe, were at the starting area with all the other participants and Moemon.
The rules were that the participants had to race all the way to the Shellby couple's Day Care Center, pick up a dummy egg, then race back to the starting line while holding the dummy egg to finish. The Trainer/Moemon duo who finishes first will receive a gold trophy and a medal. Additionally, the first three trainers to finish can choose to take one of three special Moemon Eggs transported from the Galar region.
"Moemon from Galar?" Molly gasped, having not expected such a prize.
"Wow. I really hope Ash finishes Top 3." Tomo said, excited to meet a new Moemon.
Ash and Gary were also psyched about getting a new Moemon from Galar. "Let's aim for Top 3, huh, Gary?" Ash asked.
"Yeah, but I'm aiming to win the whole thing!" Gary declared.
Ash smirked at the challenge. "We shall see."
Soon, the race had started. The competitors passed through the starting point and came to the mountain section of the course. At that time, Ash and Gary were in the lead, and neither were willing to let up. Same could be said for Haruka and Lithe, who were running as fast as they could.
"I'm actually impressed that you can keep up with me." Lithe said to Haruka.
"I've done lots of speed training." Haruka replied.
After running through the mountain section, they ran through the valley, until they finally reached the Shellby couple's Day Care Center. "You're both doing very well for your first time." Mr. Shellby praised them both as he gave them their dummy eggs.
Before they left, however, Lithe turned to the Day Care with a growl. "What's wrong, Lithe?" Gary asked.
"There are intruders in the Day Care." Lithe growled. Just then, two men came out of the Day Care Center, with one of them holding a basket of real Moemon Eggs.
"Hey! Put those Eggs back!" Mr. Shellby shouted at them. "They're not yours!"
"On the contrary, old man, they are ours now!" One of the men said with a smirk.
"That's right." The other men, who was holding the basket of Eggs, smirked. "And they'll be great Moemon for our team." Unfortunately for them, Haruka took back the basket of Eggs with Vine Whip. "Hey!"
"You're not taking these Eggs anywhere!" Haruka exclaimed. With the Moemon Eggs out of danger, Lithe used Flamethrower to scare away the two men.
With the problem settled, Haruka gave the Eggs back to the elderly couple. "Thank you both so much." Mrs. Shellby thanked them gratefully. "If you two hadn't come here as fast as you did, those two would've taken these poor eggs."
"Well, good thing we're pretty fast." Haruka smiled.
"That's right. And with my speed, I shall be the victor of this race!" Lithe declared.
"You wish!" With those words, the two Moemon raced back to the finish, with their Trainers holding onto the dummy eggs.
Everyone in the audience had seen what happened on the screen and were relieved that everything was okay. "Thank god Ash and Gary were there." Serena said with relief. "Otherwise, they would've taken the Eggs."
Right now, the racers were racing through the mountain section again, but Ash and Haruka were having trouble trying to pass Gary and Lithe because the path through the mountain section was a bit narrow. However, Ash had a plan when saw an incoming slope that turned to the road of the race. "I have an idea, Haruka!" Ash said, his Bayleef listening carefully. "There are no rules saying we couldn't take alternate routes to the race as long as they stay on course! Try jumping that slope!"
"Gotcha!" Haruka nodded with a smirk, turning to run up the slope and jump it, successfully catching up to Gary and Lithe.
The audience went wild over Ash and Haruka's stunt. "Alright, big brother!" Tomo and Molly cheered.
"Not bad." Lithe said, admittedly impressed by her opponent.
"Hey, Gary!" Ash called. "Last one to finish is a rotten egg!"
"You're on, Ash!" Gary smirked at the challenge.
Ash and Gary were near the finish line, and Haruka and Lithe were running as fast as they could to finish first. "Go, Haruka/Lithe!" Ash and Gary encouraged their Moemon to give one final push as they crossed the finish line seemingly at the same time.
"Now that was a nail-biter of a finish!" The race announcer shouted. "However, according to the slow-mo feed, the confirmed winners are Ash and Haruka!"
"Yes!" Ash and Haruka cheered.
"Guess that's it." Gary smiled, accepting his defeat. However, he got second, which means he'll second pick at the Moemon Eggs. "Congratultaions, Ash."
Ash received the gold trophy for the Extreme Moemon Race while Haruka received a medal, the audience cheering for their victory. "And now, for our Top 3 racers, we present these special Moemon Eggs!" The host of the Extreme Moemon Race announced as one of the race queens pushed over a metal cart with three Moemon Eggs in incubators. The left Egg was mostly green with a brown line at the top, the middle Egg was white with orange lines at the top and bottom parts, and the right Egg was blue. "I'm sure you're all curious as to what Moemon are in these Eggs! Well, in these three Eggs are the three Starter Moemon of the Galar region!" The host revealed, earning surprised gasps from everyone. "And now, the winner of this year's Extreme Moemon Race, Ash Ketchum, will take first pick!"
Ash could hardly believe it. Here he was, about to pick an Egg that will hatch into a Galar Starter Moemon. Looking over the three Eggs, then at Haruka, he made his decision. "I choose this one." Ash said, taking the green Egg. According to the host, the Egg will hatch into the Grass-type Moemon, Grookey. Haruka felt touched that Ash chose the starter that matched her type.
Since Gary placed second, he got the second pick. Like Ash, he chose the Egg that would hatch into the starter that matched Lithe's type, which was Scorbunny. That left the third place finisher with final Egg, which will hatch into the Water-type Moemon Sobble.
With the race now over, Gary got ready to leave with his new Egg. "I'll see you at the Johto League, Ash." He said.
"I will be there, Gary." Ash said firmly as Gary left. The gang was just about to set off as well, but stopped when they heard the Shellby couple call for Ash.
"Ash, please accept this gift from me and my wife." Mr. Shellby said as Mrs. Shellby handed him another Moemon Egg in an incubator. The egg inside was blue."
"This Egg is our thanks for rescuing the Eggs at our Day Care." Mrs. Shellby explained.
"Wow. Thank you." Ash said, accepting the gift.
So today, Ash received two Moemon Eggs; one for placing Top 3 in the race, and another for helping the Shellby couple. The gang said goodbye to the old couple and left Eggseter Town.
Ash had been excited ever since he got his two Eggs. To him, it was always exciting to see a baby Moemon hatch from their egg. Right now, Ash was checking the blue Egg while Haruka was holding the green one. "What do you think will hatch, big brother?" Molly asked.
"Well, we know this one will be a Grookey." Haruka said, looking at her Egg before looking at Ash's. "But that one's a complete mystery."
"Yeah, and that's what makes it exciting." Ash said. As soon as he said that though, he noticed the Egg he was holding beginning to glow. "I think it's hatching!"
"This one, too!" Haruka called, seeing the Egg she was holding glowing as well. The two quickly took the Eggs out of the incubators as they began to glow more brightly, and when it faded, they were each holding a Moemon.
The Moemon in Ash's hands wore a light blue shirt and light blue pants. She had light blue hair down to her shoulders and two small red clips on each of her ears and a small red bandage on the bridge of her nose.
The Moemon in Haruka's hands wore a green shirt and skirt with green gloves, and she had green hair down to her shoulders, with some of her hair tied into a ribbon above her head, held by a brown stick.
"They're so cute!" Molly squealed.
"That's a Phanpy." Brock said, identifying the Moemon in Ash's arms.
The newly-hatched Phanpy yawned cutely before opening her eyelids, looking up at Ash with curious black eyes. "Nice to meet you, Phanpy." He greeted softly. "I'm Ash."
"Ash!" Phanpy said cutely, nuzzling her trainer, earning more squeals from the girls.
Grookey woke up next, her eyes also black as she looked up at Haruka. "Who...are you?" She asked.
Haruka smiled softly. "Hello. I'm Haruka." She greeted, before taking her to Ash. "This person is Ash. He's your trainer."
Grookey looked at Ash curiously, and the Aura Guardian placed Phanpy down and walked over. "Nice to meet you, Grookey." He smiled, petting her on the head, the newly-hatched Grass Moemon clearly enjoying it.
"What are you going to name them, Ash?" Serena asked.
"I think I'll name Phanpy Phan, and Grookey's name can be Rillia." Ash decided.
"Yay! I'm Phan!" Phanpy, now named Phan, said her new name excited.
"And I'm Rillia." Grookey, now named Rillia, smiled. Haruka set Rillia down, but the moment her feet touched the ground, a green aura pulsed through the ground, and grass started to sprout from it.
"What the...?" Haruka gasped with surprise. "Grassy Terrain?"
"I don't think Grassy Terrain is that instantaneous." Pia said, also surprised.
"Then...could it be her ability?" Brock guessed.
"I was about to bring up the data on both of them." Laby said, before forming two digital screen showed Phan's and Rillia's data, much to the amazement of the two baby Moemon.

"Interesting." Bulma mused, emerging from her Moe Ball to look at Rillia. "So, this one has the same ability as me."
"Looks like it." Brock said.
"Phan's Moedex entry has me kinda worried." Es frowned. "We should make sure to pay close attention to her."
"Agreed." Ash nodded, before being tackle-hugged by the Phanpy. "Oof!"
"Ash! Let's play!" Phan said excitedly.
Ash couldn't help but chuckle. "I guess we can play for a while."
And so, for the rest of the day, the gang played with Phan and Rillia as well as introduced them to their other Moemon.
"Phan, Rillia, stay close to me." Ash told his two baby Moemon.
"Okay." Phan said, while Rillia replied with a hum as the two hugged Ash's sides. The gang was continuing their way to Mahagony Town, but the area they were now in was very foggy today.
"I don't like this fog." Misty said worriedly. "It's so thick that you can't see anything."
"It's too dangerous to continue in this fog." Brock said. "One of us could walk off a ledge and we wouldn't know until it was too late."
"You all could stay at my home." A voice suggested. Everyone turned to where the voice came from and saw a beautiful woman and a Ninetales come within view. "It's not far from here, you could stay until the fog passes."
"That would be wonderful." Misty smiled. "Thank you, miss..."
"Lokoko." The woman introduced herself.
"And I am Kyoko." The Ninetales introduced herself, paying special attention to Brock.
Ash stared at the woman with a frown. 'Odd.' He thought.
"You sense it, too?" Pia asked him via telepathy.
"Yeah, there's something strange about that woman." Ash said.
"It's not just her." Es piped in. "There's something different about that Ninetales. Her psychic power feels more potent than most."
The three weren't the only ones, though. Serena was also feeling something strange. 'Huh...? Why am I feeling something strange coming from that woman and the Ninetales?' She thought.
With Lokoko's guidance, the gang made it out of the thick fog. "My home is right here." She said, and then like magic, a huge mansion suddenly appeared.
"Wow...!" Phan and Rillia breathed out in awe.
"That mansion is huge!" Brock said, shocked that Lokoko and Kyoko lived here.
Ash, Pia and Es, however, looked at the mansion with narrowed eyes. To them, something was definitely odd. Serena was also getting an odd feeling about the mansion, which confused her.
Lokoko led the gang to one of the big rooms in the mansion and served them tea. "Kyoko seems to like Brock a lot." Giselle noted, looking at Brock and Kyoko. The Ninetales was currently sitting in his lap and rubbing her cheek against his affectionately.
"It must be because he reminds her so much of her owner." Lokoko giggled.
"Is her owner here?" Brock asked.
"I'm afraid not." Lokoko answered sadly. "He went on a journey years ago and hasn't come back home since. There were other servants who looked after the mansion besides me, but they've all left. Now, it's only me and Kyoko staying here, waiting for the Master to return."
"That's so sad." Molly said sadly. "Poor Kyoko. She must feel so lonely without her trainer."
"Yes..." Kyoko murmured dreamily. "So very lonely..."
"With the way she's acting around Brock, you'd think that she thinks Brock is her owner." Wendy joked.
Misty was admiring the interior of the room, when she took notice of something in the mirror. Kyoko had a reflection...but Lokoko, who was standing next to her and Brock, did not. 'N-No reflection!' She thought, her face paling, which Ash took notice of.
"Excuse me, Lokoko, but I need to check on my friend." Ash asked politely.
"Oh, go on ahead." Lokoko smiled kindly. Ash and Misty left into the hallway, with everyone following them except Brock, who stayed with Lokoko and Kyoko, on the latter's insistance.
"You guys aren't gonna believe this." Misty said worriedly. "I looked into the mirror, and Lokoko didn't have a reflection."
"Th-Then...sh-she's a vampire?" Molly paled. "I read that vampires don't reflections."
Tomo felt a shiver go up his spine. "B-but Brock's still with them...! Is he in trouble!?"
"Don't worry, you two." Ash assured. "I paid attention to her Aura, and she didn't feel like a vampire." His little siblings sighed with relief.
"Um, can I say something?" Serena spoke up nervoursly, getting everyone's attention. "Ever since we met Lokoko and Kyoko and stepped into the mansion, I've been feeling a strange energy from both of them."
Everyone looked at Serena with surprise. "What type of energy did you feel?" Es asked seriously.
"Um, it felt...psychic? It was more strongly on Kyoko."
Pia's and Es's eyes widened as they looked at each other, then back to the Kalos trainer. "We're going to have a serious talk after this." Pia told her seriously, to which the blonde human nodded.
"Anyway, it sounds like we'll need to investigate." Ash said, getting back to the situation at hand. "We need to figure out what's going on here." Everyone nodded in agreement.
Back with Brock, the future-Moemon Breeder was thinking about his friends. "I wonder how my friends are doing." He said.
"Oh, don't worry about them, Master~" Kyoko purred, confusing Brock as she looked at him directly in the eyes. "Just focus on me~" Her eyes began to glow, and Brock's eyes glazed over. Smiling that her Hypnosis worked, Kyoko kissed Brock affectionately.
Back with the others, they were searching some rooms for clues. They searched rooms away from where Lokoko, Brock and Kyoko were, as to not draw suspicion. So far, they had found nothing but old books and other antiques. Just then, Serena entered another room, and her eyes widened. "Hey, look at this painting!" Serena called. Everyone else entered the room and were surprised when they saw the painting. It was a portrait of Kyoko and her trainer, who was a man who looked exactly like Brock.
"That must be Kyoko's owner." Glimmer said.
"Lokoko wasn't kidding when she said Brock looked so much like him." Wendy sweatdropped. "You'd think they were related somehow."
"Look what we found!" Phan said, showing Ash a green and white sphere that resembled a Moe Ball while Rillia held up a diary. "These were on the desk under the protrait. This one looks like a Moe Ball."
"Oh! This is one of the very old-fashioned Moe Balls." Ash said, recognizing the item.
"Old-fashioned?" Phan tilted her head.
"This is what Moe Balls used to look like hundreds of years ago." Ash explained. "Professor Oak once showed me what older Moe Balls looked like."
"Cool!" Phan said in awe while Ash inspected the Moe Ball.
"Hmm, this Moe Ball's giving off a weird Aura." Ash frowned, before showing it to Serena. "Serena, can you feel anything?"
Serena looked at the Moe Ball carefully. "Yeah... I'm sensing a strange power from it." She soon replied.
Misty walked up to Rillia. "Can I see the diary?" She asked. Rillia handed her the diary and she read through it. "This is about Kyoko."
"It must be the owner's diary." Es deduced. "Does it say anything about when he left for his journey?" Misty skipped to the end, since she would most likely find her answer there. But when she did, she visibly paled. "What's wrong?" The Espeon asked worriedly.
"The date is...two hundred years ago." Misty said shakily, causing everyone's eyes to widen.
"Two hundred years!?" Wendy shouted.
"But...that would mean the owner's dead by now!" Glimmer realized.
"Which means that Lokoko is also dead." Ash frowned. "A ghost."
"Does that mean Kyoko's a ghost as well?" Rillia asked.
Before anyone could reply, one of Ash's Moe Balls opened, and Silver materialized. "Not necessarily." She answered. "Moemon life spans are different from humans. Some tend to live longer, while others' lives are shorter. For us Ninetales, we tend to live up to one thousand years."
"Wow..." Tomo gasped. "That's a really long time."
"So that means Kyoko is at least two hundread years old." Ash frowned.
"Is that why her psychic powers felt so strong?" Serena asked, looking at Silver for an answer.
Silver raised an eyebrow at the question, wondering how Serena can sense psychic power, but answered her question regardless. "When Ninetales reach the halfway point of their lifespan, their psychic powers grow to the point that they can match some of the more powerful Psychic Moemon. But, there are some factors that cause psychic abilities to grow quicker, such as their mentality, or how much training they've undergone."
"The stress of not seeing her owner for so long has caused her psychic powers to grow early." Es deduced. "And if training is also a factor, then she must be really strong. It'll be difficult for us if it comes down to a fight, but we might not have any other choice."
"Yeah." Ash nodded seriously. "We need to get back to Brock, but first..." He took out the green Cherish Ball and called out Sakuya.
"What is it, Ash?" Sakuya asked.
"We need you to go back in time two hundred years when Kyoko's owner was still alive and find out what happened to him." Ash requested.
"Leave it to me." Sakuya said, before doing a backflip and vanishing into the past.
With Sakuya looking for information, the gang went to look for Brock. They found him outside with Lokoko and Kyoko, but he seemed to be in a trance.
"Hypnosis." Ash quickly realized with a glare. "Silver, Dark Pulse!" At his command, Silver fired a pulse of darkness at Kyoko. The older Ninetales sensed the attack and dodged, but the dark energy from the attack broke her power, allowing Brock to break from his trance.
"Huh? What's going on?" Brock asked, very confused.
"Brock, look at Lokoko!" Giselle told him urgently. Brock looked and saw that Lokoko was disappearing. Not only that, but the mansion changed from looking new to very disrepair.
"It was all an illusion created by Kyoko's psychic powers." Serena said.
"Serena, watch out!" She heard Molly warn her and gasped when she saw a Flamethrower heading her way, her eyes beginning to glow purple, but Ash quickly moved in front of her and created an Aura shield to protect her.
"Are you alright?" Ash asked, turning to her, briefly seeing the glow in her eyes before it faded.
"Y-Yeah. Thank you, Ash." Serena said, blushing a bit at his rescue.
'That was definitely psychic power.' Ash thought.
"You..." They heard Kyoko snarl and turned to her, her nine tails outstretched with wisps of flames dancing between them. "I've waited too long for Master to return, and I won't let you take him from me again!"
"She really does think Brock's her Master!" Wendy exclaimed, not expecting her joke to actually be correct.
"Disappear!" Kyoko shouted, unleashing a Fire Spin at the group, but Silver canceled it out with Fire Blast.
"Would you calm down!?" Silver exclaimed. "It's already been two hundred years. Your Master isn't alive anymore!"
"Liar!" Kyoko shouted in denial, her eyes glowing red as she restrained Silver in a psychic hold, but the Shiny Moemon broke free by using Dark Pulse in the form of a small burst of dark energy.
"What do we do?" Giselle asked worriedly. "Silver may be strong, but she won't be able to defeat an opponent with at least a century more experience than her."
Thankfully, Ash had an answer. "Brock, here." He handed Brock the old-fashioned Moe Ball. "It's Kyoko's Moe Ball. She might calm down if we return her, but if any of us try, she'll resist." Brock looked at the Moe Ball and knew what he had to do.
Kyoko fired a Psyshock at Silver, but the Shiny Moemon dodged and fired a Solar Beam at her, but Kyoko defended by curling her tails in front of her like a shield. "Master is mine! I'll burn down anyone who tried to take him away from me!"
"You crazy bitch...!" Silver growled.
"Enough!" Brock shouted, getting both Ninetales to look at him. "Kyoko, return!" A red beam came from the Moe Ball and hit her Kyoko, and the older Ninetales did not resist as she was recalled.
"Thank you." Silver thanked him, sounding relieved.
With Kyoko currently in her Moe Ball, Ash explained to Brock what they had learned about her. "I see." He said calmly, before deciding to let out Kyoko, who had thankfully calmed down. "Kyoko..."
"I know. I heard." Kyoko said solemnly. "I'm sorry I caused you all so much trouble. Ever since my Master left and did not return, I've felt so alone. I had Lokoko and the other servants keeping me company, but they all eventually died of old age."
"Couldn't you have just left the mansion and started a new life?" Es asked. "I'm sure your master would've wanted that."
Kyoko shook her head. "My Moe Ball dates back to an old era. When a Moemon is caught by that Moe Ball, they cannot stray from the area it lies. A mysterious power takes hold of our bodies and prevents us from doing so."
Pia flinched. "Yeesh, sounds more like a slavery device." She said with discomfort. 'The Moe Ball's power must've also helped her psychic powers grow quicker.'
"Yes, but Master never treated me like a slave. To him, I was another member of his family." Her ears and tails drooped a bit. "I suppose that was why I foolishly believed he would return, even though he is no doubt dead by now." The gang began to feel sorry for Kyoko. "I just wish I knew what happened to him."
Just then, there was a flash of light as Sakuya appeared. "Sounds like I came back at the right time." She said.
"A Celebi...!" Kyoko gasped, not expecting to see the Mythical Time Travel Moemon.
"She's one of my Moemon." Ash said, shocking Kyoko. "I asked her to go back in time to find out what happened to your master."
"Then, do you know what became of him?" Kyoko asked Sakuya.
"Yeah." Sakuya nodded sadly. "He was planning to return home, but he was suddenly struck by an illness that killed him. That's why he never returned."
Kyoko couldn't take it anymore and fell to her knees. "I knew it. My Master...Takeshi is gone." Tears fell from her eyes as she mourned the loss of her trainer.
Brock knelt down next to her and hugged her, gently stroking her hair. "Don't cry, Kyoko. I'll be your new trainer." He said.
"Eh!?" Everyone was surprised by his offer. Kyoko being the most shocked as she stopped crying to look at him.
"You... You would take me?" Kyoko asked. "After what I tried to do...you would still want me?"
Brock nodded. "I'll never be able to replace Takeshi, but I promise that I will take care of you."
Kyoko began to cry again, but unlike when she heard late Master's death, these tears were of happiness as she hugged Brock tightly. "Thank you... Thank you..."
"Um, we might have trouble leaving, since Kyoko's Moe Ball keeps her binded to the mansion." Misty pointed out.
"Then we'll just destroy the Moe Ball." Giselle said simply. "Kyoko will be free, and Brock can recapture her."
With that said, Brock smashed the Moe Ball into the ground and it broke into a million pieces. He then took out a normal Moe Ball and held it to Kyoko. 'Takeshi... I'll be moving on, now.' She thought with a smile before tapping the center, letting herself be captured.
Just then, Lokoko suddenly reappeared in front of the group. "Thank you for taking in Kyoko." Lokoko thanked Brock with a serene smile. "Even though, I had died, my spirit stayed behind because I did not want Kyoko to live alone."
"I see." Ash nodded in understanding.
Kyoko came out of her Moe Ball and looked at Lokoko. "Lokoko, thank you for staying by my side even in death." She thanked the ghost. "You may rest peacefully now, for I have found a new family who will take care of me."
"I know he will." Lokoko smiled once more. "Thank you...and goodbye." With a final farewell, she disappeared into the afterlife.
With the matter now, settled, Ash decided it was time to talk to Serena. "Serena." He called the potential psychic. Serena saw the serious look on his face and nodded nervously before following him, Pia and Es. Silver and Sakuya also decided to tag along.
"We'll leave you two alone." Giselle said, taking Tomo, Wendy, Molly and Glimmer somewhere else.
With the others gone, Kyoko pushed Brock to the ground and mounted him. "Now we're all alone, Master~" Kyoko purred, a sultry smile on her face. She's had a two-hundred-year dry spell and is more than happy to relieve some stress with her new Master.
"What is it, Ash?" Serena asked, nervous about what the Aura Guardian wanted to talk about.
"Serena, you were able to sense Kyoko's psychic power the moment we met them and entered the mansion, right?" Ash asked. "And you were able to sense the strange power in Kyoko's old Moe Ball."
"Yeah...?" Serena answered, unsure where he was going.
"We think that you might actually have psychic powers." Es told her. "And seeing how your eyes glowed for a moment when Kyoko attacked you, they're beginning to awaken."
Serena was shocked by this. She never thought that she would have psychic powers. "So...what do I do?" She asked, feeling a bit scared as she remembered what happened with Sabrina before Ash helped her.
"Well, first, calm down." Pia advised, sensing Serena's fear. "Psychic powers are based on emotions. If you let fear take over, then they'll go out of control." Serena took a few deep breaths to calm herself down, before nodding that she was okay.
"Okay. Now, you can train with my Moemon to control your psychic abilities." Ash told her. "But we don't know how strong they are, so I suggest calling your mom and asking her about your ancestry."
"Good idea." Serena agreed. After learning a big part about herself, she needed to learn more about here origins.
The blonde from Kalos trained with Pia, Es and Sakuya on the basics of her psychic abilities until Brock and Kyoko were done with their pact. In the meantime, the fog had lifted, so it was safe for the gang to continue their journey.
Chapter 61 DONE!
So, instead of Ash getting one new Egg Moemon, he got two! And one of them is a Galar Starter Moemon. Honestly, even though the Pokémon Fandom can get annoying when it comes to the anime, I will agree that Ash should've gotten Grookey instead of Goh. Also, Gary got Scorbunny.
Yeah, I've decided that Brock will get the two-hundred-year-old Ninetales. She thought Brock was her old trainer, so why not let her stay with him? Plus, she pretty much replaces Kyuubei, who's no longer travelling with them. Also, Takeshi is Brock's Japanese name. I thought I'd use it for Kyoko's old trainer to play along with the joke of them being so identical.
Also, Serena's psychic powers are starting to awaken! Yes, I made her a Psychic. Many of you requested it, or were already expecting it, but I decided to make her a Psychic to coincide with Ash being an Aura Guardian. As for her heritage, you will learn that later in the future.
Now that that's settled, see you guys next chapter!
