"I am so glad we decided to have Christmas just the three of us this year" Callie grinned as she cuddled up beside Arizona on the couch. The morning had been filled with smiles, laughter and a ton of wrapping paper as they watched Sofia open her gifts. After a big breakfast, they had spent the remainder of the day playing games, watching movies and reading books until Sofia had finally succumbed to exhaustion.
"I think our parents were a little disappointed to wait to celebrate with us until next week but I'm sure we can make it up to them in a month or so with the news of these two new little ones" Arizona smiled softly as she rested her hand protectively over her barely discernible baby bump. She could feel a new firmness there that hadn't been there before but she was far from showing.
"I can't wait to tell everyone" Callie shifted so that Arizona was on her back and she was balanced above her. Moving down her body, she settled carefully between her legs and lifted the blonde's shirt. Lowering the waistband of her pajama pants, she gently wrapped her hands around her hips and kissed her skin. "Hi babies" she cooed with a grin "I'm your momma and I cannot wait to meet you both. You take good care of each other in there and keep growing. We love you so much! You are going to love it out here with me and your mommy and your big sister."
Arizona threaded her fingers through dark hair as Callie tenderly kissed her tummy again. Tears pricked at her eyes and she gave her curls a gentle tug. "Come kiss me, Calliope"
Pressing another kiss to her belly, Callie moved up beside her again and kissed her sweetly before snuggling back against her. Laying her head on her shoulder, she drew soft circles on her exposed abdomen.
Sighing with contentment, Arizona closed her eyes just enjoying the moment and the feel of Callie's fingers stroking tenderly over her skin.
"Arizona?" she asked softly as she chewed on her bottom lip
"Hmm?"
"When do you want to tell Sofia? And our parents?"
"Let's tell them when we're at 12 weeks"
"Ok" disappointment laced her voice
Blue eyes fluttered open and Arizona grinned at her, tracing her pouting lip with one finger. "It will go quickly" she consoled. "Would it help if you were in charge of planning how we will tell everyone?"
Callie's face instantly lit up with excitement. "Really? You'll let me plan it?"
Laughing, she nodded. "Absolutely! They are your babies too and I know you love that kind of stuff"
"I have so many ideas! This is going to be so fun!" she cheered, kissing Arizona's cheek.
Arizona closed her eyes again even though she knew the brunette was not done talking. Callie's excited rambling entertained her most of the time and this was definitely one of those times. A smile teased at the corner of her mouth as Callie began discussing ideas with enthusiasm before abandoning them a moment later for a new idea. Knowing this would go on up until the week they actually told their families, Arizona let her mind wander until she noticed Callie had gone silent as her thoughts took a turn.
"What do you think about doing pregnancy photos? It's something I kind of wish I had thought of when I was pregnant with Sofia" she covered Arizona's abdomen with the palm of her hand enjoying the slight swell.
"Like a professional photo shoot? I never knew you wanted that" her heart fluttered when Callie looked up at her with those beautiful brown eyes.
"That would be fun too when you are in your last trimester but I was thinking more of monthly photos just to track your progress."
Arizona thought about it for a minute before smiling at her, pulse still racing. "You still give me butterflies"
"What?"
"Just now when you looked at me, my heart fluttered and it felt like an entire colony of butterflies took flight. Yes, I think photos are a great idea." she smiled softly
Callie stared up at her with wonder "That's all it takes? Me looking at you?"
"MmmHmm, sometimes. Those big, beautiful brown eyes filled with love looking right at me as if I'm your entire world? Oh, yeah. You've still got it Torres." she teased. "Hey, where are you going?" she pouted. The brunette had kissed her cheek and got up to dash down the hallway.
Callie was back a moment later with a surprise gift, wrapped in black paper with large white snowflakes and tied with a sparkly red ribbon.
"What's this?" Arizona asked, sitting up with a grin as the Latina handed her the package
"Just open it"
"Calliope" she gasped, gazing at the gown nestled in tissue paper. The entire thing was sheer chiffon with a blue ribbon so pale it nearly looked as white as the gown itself. Pulling it from the box, Arizona held it up seeing it was more of a robe than a gown. The short sleeves were slightly puffed and edged in white satin, butterflies in the same white satin were beautifully designed to offer minimal modesty as they overlapped at the top of the gown right above where the pale blue ribbon tied in a little bow, the only closure offered
Sitting beside her, Callie chewed on her bottom lip. "I saw this and I instantly pictured you in it. I could literally see you, six months pregnant, with your bare belly so round and beautiful. The image in my head was breathtaking and I couldn't stop myself from buying it. I didn't know if you would like it, but I thought this would be perfect for monthly photos."
"Well, not photos we are planning to share!" Arizona teased as she gazed at the see through fabric.
"There are panties too" Callie grinned as she searched the box for the satin bottoms and held them up too. They were low cut, made to accommodate a growing abdomen, but did offer more coverage than the gown itself. There was a little sheer butterfly high on the right side but the rest would do a fair job preserving her modesty.
"Do you like it?" Callie asked nervously.
"I love it, thank you Callie" she whispered, leaning over to kiss her. "Would you like me to try it on so you can see it?"
"Hell, yes"
Laughing softly, Arizona let her pull her up and lead her into their bedroom.
Callie paced the bedroom waiting for Arizona to reappear. Turning quickly at the sound of the door, she felt her breath leave her body. Arizona had piled her hair up in a messy bun, leaving tendrils of curls framing her face. Using the bare minimum of makeup, she looked like an angel as she made her way back into the room. As expected, the sheer fabric hid nothing from view, exposing her entire body except what was covered by the satin butterflies that cleverly hid her nipples and the satin panties that kept her other secrets. Beneath the pale blue bow that was nestled at the base of her cleavage, the fabric fell open down to mid-calf.
"You're absolutely beautiful. You give me butterflies too" Callie smiled at her and moved closer, reverently extending a hand to rest right above the white satin panties. Arizona beamed up at her. "It's a beautiful gown. Thank you, Calliope. Did you get the camera ready?"
Callie's dark eyes darted up to meet blue before slowly moving down the gorgeous body in front of her again. Reaching out, she delicately traced a finger over the blue veins now more prominent in the pale breasts. Arizona drew a sharp breath as Callie's nail caught on her stiffened nipple. "They look a little bigger" Callie grinned at her before cupping both breasts gently in her hands. "Are they tender?"
"A little" Arizona whispered, tensing slightly in anticipation of pain while also leaning in to Callie's touch. The pain never came though, just the slightest brush of the Latina's soft lips over her exposed chest before Callie parted her gown enough for her tiny baby bump to be visible and took a step back, grabbing her phone from the nightstand. "Let me take a few shots before I help you out of that gown" she winked, making Arizona's pulse race again.
"Mmm" she hummed as she smiled coyly up at her "that sounds like a very sexy way to finish the day. Maybe I'll have to give you a present too"
"A sexy present?" Callie's already darkened eyes twinkled down at her, one perfect brow arched high.
"Maybe" she grinned as she shimmied one shoulder
"We can do pictures tomorrow" Callie said as she tossed her phone over her shoulder and reached for the tiny blue ribbon.
Laughing as she watched the phone bounce on their bed, Arizona barely had time to wrap her arms around the brunette's neck before she found herself right beside it.
"Momma?"
"Hmm?"
"Is Mommy ok?"
Startled not so much by the question but her daughter's serious tone, Callie looked up from the omelet she was making to where her daughter sat perched on a stool.
"Of course she is, honey"
"She's been throwing up a lot though and she's been too tired to read me a whole book at bedtime. She keeps falling asleep in the middle." her bottom lip pushed out and her eyes grew shiny with tears.
Callie's heart swelled at the sight, their daughter's heart was just so soft and sweet. It pained her to see her so worried and she wondered if they should let Sophia in on their secret sooner than planned. "You're right, mija. She has been really sleepy lately and her tummy has been a little upset but you know what?"
Sofia shook her head no, a concerned look still on her face.
"I think what mommy needs is one of your super magic hugs. I bet that will perk her right up" Callie smiled softly in her direction
Nodding her head, Sofia's face brightened immediately "And some pancakes?" she asked hopefully, her dimples flashing.
"Pancakes? What about this omelet I'm making for you?"
"Mommy says the smell of eggs makes her gag. I guess she doesn't like them anymore" Sofia said, nodding wisely.
Callie stopped with her spatula poised above the pan and frowned. "When did she say that?"
"Yesterday morning when she was making me breakfast after you left. She ran to the bathroom then threw the eggs in the trash and we had cereal instead"
Hearing their bedroom door open, Callie quickly dumped the omelet in the sink and turned the garbage disposal on. Reaching into the cupboard, she grabbed the aerosol air freshener and sprayed the area hoping to cover up the smell.
"Good Morning" Arizona's smiled, attempting to distract from the paleness of her face
Sofia, still giggling about the trashed omelet, wrapped her arms around her waist for a hug. "Morning, Mommy! Momma's going to make us some pancakes!"
"Oh, good! I was just thinking chocolate chip pancakes with grape jelly sound really great. Do we have any grape jelly?" she asked, leaning in to give the brunette a soft kiss.
Callie kissed her distractedly, pulling back and staring at her for a second before slowly nodding "Um, yeah. I think we do. Why don't you have a quick shower and I'll get everything ready?"
Leaning in to kiss her cheek again, Arizona squeezed her arm. "You are amazing. Thank you"
Turning to look for the jelly, Callie's eyes locked with Sofia's. Her little nose was scrunched up in mild disgust "grape jelly?" she questioned quietly.
"Right? Mommy can have the jelly, we will stick with syrup or whipped cream" she said, placing the glass jar on the counter.
Flipping her hair over her shoulder, Sofia gave a short nod before rolling her eyes "We are so not team jelly, right Momma?"
Snickering, Callie gave her daughter a fist bump. "No way, baby. That's all mommy"
"Oh my goodness, Callie, these pancakes are amazing! Did you put something new in them?" Arizona moaned, taking another bite piled high with jelly.
"No, same as always". There was a twinkle of amusement in the brunette's eyes as she watched her reach for the now nearly empty jar of jelly.
Spreading another spoonful over her already sodden pancakes, she grinned as she licked a dab off her finger. Looking up to see both of her girls staring at her,she paused mid bite. " What?"
