Hello everyone! So, here we are with the final update for this story. I'm a little sad now that I know it's done. Hopefully the final chapter is a good resolution to the story! But if it isn't, please don't be too sad because there will be updates! Anyways, please enjoy!
Chapter Sixty-Two
I was awoken by the sound of a very annoying beeping noise. The noise sounded like it was far away but was slowly getting louder. I moaned as I tried to open my eyes.
"Bella?" A soft voice said. I felt light pressure on my hand. I realized there was someone holding my hand.
"Bella, are you awake?" The soft voice said again.
I slowly opened my eyes, looking at the dim light above me. It took a few moments for everything to clear up.
"Hey, Bella," Edward's beautiful face appeared above me. He stroked my cheek and kissed my forehead.
"E-Edward?" I croaked out, my voice scratchy.
"Hey princess," He smiled, "I'm so glad you're awake."
"How long have I been out?" I asked. He helped me sit up, fluffing my pillows so I was comfortable. My shoulder was burning.
"Five days," He said, sitting back down in the chair and holding my hand, "The doctor thought it was best to keep you sedated for a little while. You had a lot of injuries."
My eyes widened as I suddenly remembered everything, "Oh my god, Edward what happened? Are we safe—,"
"Shhh," He said as my heartbeat started pick up, "It's okay. Everything is taken care of."
"What happened?" I asked again, "And who shot me?"
"Caius had another gun and before I finished him. Fucker. But don't worry, he's dead," Edward said, "And almost everyone working for him was killed, except for a few. But we're going to get them soon. You don't have to worry about them."
I nodded, "Did… did we lose anyone?"
"Nope," Edward smiled, "Everyone is good. Caius did alert his men that we were coming, but he hadn't coordinated them properly. They weren't ready for us. They were taken out easily."
I sighed happily, "Thank god. So, everything's good?"
"Well, almost." He said, shifting uncomfortably in his chair.
"What's wrong?"
"Someone did get away," He said, "But I don't want you to worry about it."
"Who was it?" I asked.
"Tanya," He said, "Somehow she escaped."
"How? I tied her to the sink."
"I'm not sure. But don't worry we'll find her, and we'll get rid of her."
"What does her family think?"
"Eleazar and Carmen are upset, but they understand," He explained, "Tanya betrayed everyone. Even though she's their daughter, everyone knows that the worst possible thing you could ever do is betray your people. It's punishable by death."
I chuckled, "Remind me never to betray you guys."
He smiled and kissed my hand. I started to settle into the bed before I gasped.
"Oh my god, Edward the baby! Someone needs—,"
"Shhh," He said, "Bella it's okay. They checked everything. The baby is okay."
"He's… okay?"
"Yeah, don't worry. Our baby's okay." He placed a gentle hand on my stomach, "Tough little guy. The doctors have just been monitoring everything to make sure everything's okay. You have some bruising on your stomach where Caius kicked you, but luckily, he didn't kick your lower stomach."
"Oh thank god," I said, rubbing my hand over my stomach, "I was so worried."
He nodded, "So was I. God, I thought… I never want to think that again."
I shuddered, "I'm just ready for things to get back to normal."
"Bella, I wanted to apologize." He said.
"For what?"
"Well, all of this is my fault." He said, "Had I not come into your life, everything would've worked out perfectly for you. Your business would've flourished, you probably would've met a normal man, your life would be perfect. I'm sorry for fucking everything up for you."
"Yeah, well, maybe and maybe not," I shrugged, "Maybe my bakery would've flourished, maybe it wouldn't have. Who knows. And yeah, things sucked for a while. But everything's better now. The threat is gone," I toyed with a loose string on the blanket before starting the next part, "But what really sucked was how long it took you to tell me everything."
"I know. I'm sorry. I told you I was scared."
"I know, I'm not mad anymore about that," I said, "But, I do want to tell you that if you ever lie to me again, I will be done."
He nodded, grabbing my hand, "Bella I swear, I will never lie to you again."
"We're partners," I said, "I want to be kept in the loop, even if it's scary."
"Understood," He smiled, "So, since you've forgiven me, does that mean you still want to get married?"
I smiled, "I love you, more than anything. I do still want to get married."
He leaned over and kissed me again, "I love you so much Bella."
Two Weeks Later
"Edward can I please take the blindfold off?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"Not yet," He chuckled, "We're almost there."
"Ugh tell me where we're going!" I whined.
He just laughed again, "You're so impatient. Don't worry, we are almost there."
After about ten more minutes, Edward finally stopped the car. I reached up to take my blindfold off, but he stopped me.
"Just a few more seconds." He said.
He got out of the car and helped me out. He moved around me and placed his hands on my shoulders and directed me. He finally took the blindfold off.
"Uh, what am I looking at?" I asked after a few minutes of confused silence.
We were standing in front of an empty stone building. It was tall and sandwiched between an upscale boutique and a Latitude's.
"Well, I was thinking," he said, rubbing my shoulders, "It would make a great bakery."
"A bakery?"
"Yeah," He said, "Before you say no, can you come in and just look around please?"
"Sure." I said, allowing him to lead me into the store.
Edward's realtor was here, she unlocked the door for us but didn't follow us in.
The inside of the building was large. There was a new hardwood floor, the walls were freshly painted, a large counter with huge displays. Everything looked like it was just installed and new. He walked us back into the kitchen.
The kitchen was even better than the front room. Everything was new and shining. There was actually a large walk in freezer with several shelves for storage. It had three large ovens, four large refrigerators, and a ton of counter space.
"There's another private room," He said, opening a door and revealing a large room. It was big and had a large walk-in closet for supplies.
He showed me a private bathroom that was in the kitchen then showed me to two public bathrooms in the front.
"Now I know you said that you wanted to wait, but I thought we could just look at the property. Everything is new. The previous owners had replaced pretty much everything. So, there wouldn't be any repairs. Everything you'd need to focus on would just be decorating and baking." He said, "And, it's close to our home. If you wanted, you could walk here. But you do have your own private parking lot for you and your employees."
I nodded, "It looks really nice and everything. But I don't know. I don't really think my bakery would fit into Manhattan. Everything is so upscale around here."
"Bella you make amazing desserts. I mean, people came from Manhattan to eat your desserts. You baked for so many people. There is no doubt in my mind that if you open a bakery here, it'll flourish." He chuckled, "And if not, I'll intimidate people into buying your desserts."
I rolled my eyes, "No intimidating."
"So, Bella, what do you think? I put a hold on this place, but there are a ton of other potential buyers waiting," He said.
I nibbled my lip, "How much is it?"
"Don't worry about that," He said, "This is my way of making up for your bakery being burned down. So all the expenses are on me."
"So, the money I make from here would be yours?"
"No of course not," He said, "I'm just going to be an investor. As is my mother. We'll get a little revenue from the bakery, but all of the money goes to you. I have no say over what you do here."
I nodded and took another quick look around, "What about when I have the baby? I won't be able to be here every day."
"Well, since I'm backing you, I can hire a lot of staff. That way, you can come in here and bake when you want too, or you can let your staff run things." He said, "Bella I really think you can make it work. And I'll support you."
I smiled, "There is a really nice private daycare a few blocks away. I've done a little research on them. They allow half days, and they offer three-day programs."
He smiled widely, "So, should I pull the trigger?"
My smile widened, "Yeah. Let's do it."
He laughed and grabbed me in a tight hug. He grabbed my face and pulled me into a deep kiss. We only broke apart because the realtor walked in.
"I'm sorry to interrupt but there is another potential buyer—,"
"Let them know that this property is no longer available. It's been sold," Edward said, pressing his forehead against mine.
The realtor said something else but left us. Edward lifted me up and pulled me into another kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck, my hands immediately in his hair.
"I love you so much Bella," Edward whispered.
"I love you too." I whispered back, "And thank you. For everything."
He sat me back down on my feet. I grabbed his hand and pulled him into my new kitchen.
I wanted it to end with Bella getting another bakery, because that's where she started and it was her dream. I'm really hoping you guys liked the ending! I just wanted it to end on a sweet note! But don't worry, there are plenty of outtakes in the works right now! Each outtake will have a title so you'll be able to kind of figure out what the chapter is about. I really hope you guys enjoyed this story. It was so fun for me to write, I actually feel kind of proud of this story in a weird way. So, hopefully you all enjoyed it! Thank you for all of your support and your love!
