"I do not recognize this place… this room was never here." I spoke up in a small whisper as I took in the surrounding room as the guards stayed in a circle formation around me.

"everything here looks much different than the ruins your highness. Almost as if its news." I shook my head.

"from what I can tell this had to of been built with the same process as in the dark ages. Unicorn made… it resembles Starswirl's studies after countless months of work." I spoke remembering his master chambers. "but why would this place be here?" I then muttered softly. "why would you be here?"

"princess I think it might be best if we split up." I shook my head.

"considering the amount of magic I am feeling it might not be wise to separate. Who knows what kind of traps could be around the premises." They all gave a nod as I lit my magic up to cast a locator spell keyed to Derpy's magic signature. Considering we were now in the area the spell should hopefully get a read on her specific location. I smiled with glee as a line dashed from the orb I summoned down a long lightly lit hallway. "we shall go in that direction."

"locator spell your highness?" questioned one of the unicorns.

"that is correct." I answered as we began making our way down the long hallway as I tried to make sense of what was here. Regardless of my decaying memory of the old ruins I still remembered what was in it but not where. This room was not here by shouldn't even exist here by any reason without the high requirement of magic. So high only my sister and I together would have been able to cast them…

Even then…

The complexity of the magic flowing throughout these walls…

I doubt we could replicate the results even if we took years to work and refine…

"your highness…" spoke up another one of the unicorns among the two squads. "something doesn't feel… right…" being confused I brought myself out of my thoughts and focused myself on the surroundings. She was right… despite the ominous vibe of the dimly lit hallway there was a… emotion making itself known in the magic in the air. Another spell perhaps? Or perhaps the magic itself was sentient.

"be on your guard. We don't know what to expect here." The captain ordered as they all readied them for a battle. We continued to follow the line as we passed door after door… almost as if it was repeating itself. Casting a few spells I couldn't detect any illusions or advanced spells being actively cast. Though there was still the large amount of magic flowing through the walls.

"I believe we are being lead on." I then spoke up causing the guards to halt their slow walk and then stare at me. "there is a possibility that the magic here is sentient. Whether its trying to help or impede us I believe we should go through that door."

"but your highness, isn't the locator spell pointing us down the hall?" questioned the captain.

"indeed. But you must remember that magic can easily be tricked and not easily be detected being manipulated. With all the magic in the surrounding area it would be extremely difficult to find out if its being affected." Deciding to test a theory of mine I cast a revealing spell on the door and saw multiple magic circles emit from the door.

"look at all those magic circles… I can only recognize about half of these." Spoke up the mare unicorn as they all approached the door to get a better look at the magic circles. The other guards taking up position to watch the hallway on either side of us. As they contemplated the magic made into the door I began to file away what I could recognize.

This door alone would of take Starswirl at least a month to make, My sister two weeks, myself almost a week and a half. Reinforcement, fire protection, water protection, blast protection, regeneration… a large portion of these magic circles were new somehow. Perhaps a renewal system built through the walls? But others…

They seem to be magic circles that were created fairly recently by the magic university. Considering this place… could it be simply because it was built with the same ways of those in the dark ages as they preferred that way of appearance of the end result? Or could it be something much more? "do you recognize any of these that could be a problem your highness?" a unicorn asked as I shook my head.

"no. my belief is that the maker of this door simply believed in making sure their home was well protected. Despite not recognizing a few of these I can tell they give no ill intent." I answered. "there's not even one to keep the door closed."

"so we just need to open it your highness?" questioned the captain as I nodded. "then we shall still be cautious."

"certainly. The door could simply be holding back something extremely dangerous." He nodded.

"prepare to enter room!" immediately the guards rushed to surround the door in the way they would in a dangerous situation. "Ready?" nods were his response. "breach!"
