"Five, six, seven, eight!" Damien's voice bounced around as he and Benjamin stood atop a makeshift stage on the beach.
The two boys were dressed as mobsters, each of them standing with prop tommy guns in their hands. They both had matching cigars being held by their teeth, which were also fake, but they looked convincingly real. A song started to play from behind them, to which Damien led a dance. He did a little bit of a tap-dance solo, which ended with him pointing at Benjamin with the tommy gun, causing the boy to break out in his own tap solo, the intensity of which rivaled the professional's. After his own solo was over, the two spun around each other, aiming the guns to the skies and pulling the cigars from their mouths.
"Enjoy a day at the stage mobster's play," Damien started to sing in a tenor voice, managing to hit a nice mobster accent whilst singing.
"A show that leaves ya feeling scared and tense," Benjamin followed up in a bass voice.
"Lots o' tears and high suspense."
"How's about we show these jokers how things are done here in the stage mob, boss?"
"Let's get at it, Benny!"
The two fired the guns into the sky, popping a false cap from the barrel of the props and shooting confetti into the sky.
"Cross us and we'll cross you out," Damien sang, running his finger across his throat in a threatening manner.
"A thought you'd rather live without," Benjamin choraled, tossing his gun into the sky and aiming it at where the crowd would be.
"Here at the stage mobster's-"
"Here at the stage mobster's-"
"Here at the stage...mobster's...play!" the two dueted the final line, taking a bow as they finished their performance.
Damien peeked up from his bow, noticing the crowd of losers that was watching him. He saw everyone there, applauding the show that the two had just put on, except for Flint, who was in a full-body cast while also in a wheelchair. He felt a faint smile appear on his own face, glancing over at Benjamin and nodding to him. The two stood from their bow and left the stage, feeling proud of what they had done.
"That was awesome, Ben!" Damien cheered as they started walking back up to the Playa. "You killed it out there!"
"Haha, I dunno about that," Benjamin replied meekly, rubbing the back of his head, "I think we both did a good job."
"We did an amazing job! We're so gonna go out for ice cream later!"
"Ice cream? Oh, yay! I love ice cream!"
The two continued to walk up the stairs, the actor patting his newly found friend on the back as they did so. He may have had some drama hit him hard before, but as long as there were people like Benjamin to help him forget about the past, what was the point in dwelling on it. He let out a sigh, thinking about what happened between him and March, trying to let it go.
