After the scare of the first villain, they were walking cautiously towards the first year dorms. Hinata walked in the center of a bubble of the taller people. The bubble included: Sawamura, Sugawara, and Tanaka up front; Kenma, Tsukishima, Bokuto, Yamaguchi, Akaashi, and Kageyama on the sides; and Yachi and Haiba in the back.
Each of them had their guards up, so when the villains with longer ranged quirks started attacking them, they weren't too surprised. The attacks started with a man with pistols for hands. Bullets whizzed past their heads as they ran. More and more long ranged attacks started, from explosions to acid. Someone had also used a blowgun shooting darts filled with the quirk inhibitors.
Sawamura threw his head to the side. "Suga! Analysis!"
Sugawara nodded. Tanaka released a copy, which picked Sugawara up so he could look backwards without having to run that way.
"The guy in the front, his quirk is Sticky Hands!" Sugawara warned. "And the guy in the back has a teleportation quirk! Keep an eye on Hinata!"
Sawamura nodded. "Noya, can you grab Hinata and help him run faster?"
Nishinoya shook his head. "There's not enough electricity here. Besides, I can't outrun a warping quirk."
"Okay. Tsukishima," Sawamura called.
"Before you ask, I've had a wall above Hinata this entire time," Tsukishima reported. Yamaguchi looked at him. "What? He might be insufferable, but he's still my friend."
Yachi screamed. "Guys, bad luck!"
"What?" Kageyama shouted back.
Sugawara squinted his eyes. "She's right! The guy next to the Sticky Hands quirk has a compression quirk! I couldn't see him before!"
"They took Lev!" Yachi screeched. Then her scream was cut off.
"Yachi's gone," Tsukishima yelled.
Hinata had the look of a dog who got into the trash. He stopped. Some of the people next to him stopped, as well.
"What are you doing?" Tsukishima demanded. "You're going to get caught!"
Kenma gripped Hinata's arm. "Shoyo, come on," he begged. There was an urgency in his voice that no one had heard before.
"Everyone, go," Hinata finally commanded. He turned around to reveal that he had been crying. "I can't have anyone else sacrifice themselves for me."
Kageyama stepped closer. "Idiot-"
Hinata looked at Kageyama, all of the hatred gone. It was replaced with sadness and warmth. "Tobio, I'm sorry. I was trying to protect you, but this…" He motioned behind him, at the villains quickly approaching. "This wasn't what I wanted." He grabbed Kageyama's collar and pulled his face down gently. "I'm so sorry."
Hinata pressed his lips against Kageyama's. They stood there for a while, before Hinata broke it off.
"Bye, Bakayama," he choked. Hinata walked up to the villains, who apparently had the human decency to let them say their goodbyes. "I give myself up! Let my friends go!"
The man with the compressor quirk threw down two cubes that expanded into Yachi and Haiba. Alive, but unconscious. Tsukishima and Yamaguchi rushed to help them. Hinata looked back one final time before a rag was placed over his nose and mouth. They disappeared.
Kageyama fought back. He tried to grab Hinata, to stop him from going with the villains. But he was held back by Kenma, as he accidentally brushed his hand across Kenma's elbow, giving Kenma full control of his body.
"Kageyama," Kenma warned.
"But Shoyo...he-" Kageyama's voice caught. He stopped trying to fight, and Kenma released him. He collapsed to his knees and wailed.
Tsukishima and Yamaguchi carried Yachi and Lev, while Kenma led the shell shocked Tobio back to the rest of the group. Among everyone, only two people were talking. Well, they weren't as much talking as one yelling at the other.
"How could you not tell us about this possibility, Akaashi?" Bokuto's voice wavered.
Akaashi stepped back. "I couldn't see this possibility. I couldn't see any possibilities."
"Bokuto, calm down," Sawamura mediated. "He was hit with an inhibitor dart."
"I don't care!" Bokuto cried. "If he had looked ahead of time, I would've been able to save Hinata!"
Sugawara approached Bokuto slowly. "Bokuto-"
"You're just as guilty," Tobio muttered, staring at nothing. "You didn't stop with us. If you had, you would've been able to help us talk him out of it." He shifted his eyes to glare at Bokuto. "You're his mentor. He would've listened to you!"
"Guys, please," Yamaguchi pleaded. "Stop fighting. Hinata wouldn't want us to fight like this, after he sacrificed himself for us."
Tobio turned on Yamaguchi. "Don't talk like he's dead! He's alive! If those madmen wanted him dead, he would've been dead!"
Yamaguchi flinched at the sudden turnaround. Tsukishima stood in between the two, holding out a hand toward Tobio. "Stop. We're all a bit...frazzled, okay?"
"'Frazzled'?" Tobio asked incredulously. "'Frazzled'? My best friend was just taken away by villains! Villains who want to, I don't know, indoctrinate him into their little league? Tell me, Tsukishima, am I frazzled?"
"No," Tsukishima amended. "You're right, I used the wrong word-"
"What are we doing just standing around?" Nishinoya wondered. "We should go find him!"
"Yeah!" Tanaka agreed. "If we leave now, we'd find him before any indorkinating happens."
"Indoctrinating," Tsukishima corrected. "And have you forgotten that we go to a school full of pro heroes, who can definitely do a better job than we can ever do? We need to tell Principal Nezu."
"I agree with Tsukishima," said Sawamura. "And the faster we tell the pros, the faster they can come up with a strategy to find him."
"But we can't wait!" Tobio objected. "They could be hurting him! Or worse!"
Kenma put a hand on Tobio's arm. "Shoyo is strong. Stronger than a lot of people I've met. He'll make it another day or so."
Tobio backed down. Finally, the emotions that were building up in his body released through his eyes. "I hope you're right," he sobbed. "Gosh, I hope you're right."
