"Ash, are you sure about this?" Serena asked, grabbing the gear.
"Yes, go with them I have work to do here anyways." Ash said. "Besides you need a water type Pokémon."
"It's just fishing, we'll either find something, or we won't." Goh reassured. "Plus Ash is working on something only he can do, I think."
As Goh, Chloe, and Serena left for fishing, Professor Cerise turned to Ash.
"So what exactly are you working on?" Professor Cerise asked.
"Today, two things. Right now I'm setting up a program to find Regirock, between our tracker for Regice, and Brandon's algorithm, I'm hoping it will give us an exact location." Ash said.
"You know how to do that!" Ren asked surprised.
"No, but we do." Clemont said over the computer.
"All good on our end." Sophocles said.
"And the Aether Foundation's satélites are linked." Rotom Dex declared.
A 3d image of earth popped up at Ash's desk, as the program began searching.
"Thanks again guys." Ash said.
"Happy to help with science." Clemont said.
"It was nothing for me." Sophocles bragged.
"I'm just happy to be included." Rotom Dex said.
"So while this is looking for a Legendary Pokémon from who knows how long ago, what are you going to be doing." Chrysa inquired.
"Building an Aura Garden for me to replenish my powers." Ash said, holding up the flower. "I think that's why Zarude gave me this, so I'm going to at least give it a try."
In the park
"Gible use Dig! Oshawott use Water Gun!" Ash said, after showing them a drawing. They ended with a small pond, with an island in the center.
'Splish'
"Now just focus on the bobber." Goh said.
"I know how to fish, no need to patronize me." Serena said.
"I've yet to see proof." Goh commented.
"I've got something!" Serena said, pulling up on her fishing rod.
"One more and we can fit a truck." Chloe laughed, seeing another tire.
"I'd like to see you try." Serena said.
"Just watch me." Chloe said, casting her own line.
A few moments passed, then bubbling appeared below her bobber.
"See, now I'll just reel it and…". Chloe wasn't able to finish her sentence, as Dragonite flew out of the water with incredible speed.
"Viola." Chloe said, soaking wet.
Dragonite landed in front of the small pond, Ash was nowhere to be seen, however Lucario and Infernape were there. Dragonite set down the sack and opened it up revealing a number of different sized stones. Looking back up to the others for approval, Lucario simply nodded before he and Infernape were enveloped in a hug.
Celadon City
"I have to say, I'm surprised to see you here Ash." Erika said calmly. "What has brought you here."
"I need your expertise." Ash said, pulling out the flower. "I want to replant this, properly."
"Let's see what we can do." Erika said. She led Ash to a gardening shop, where they found the correct materials he'd need to replant it, and hopefully even allow more to grow.
"Hmm, what's that?" Ash said, seeing some small bridges. "That's just what I need."
Ash flew back to Vermillion on Charizard, the new supplies in tow.
North of Vermillion
"Let's try pond fishing, a bit calmer than ocean." Goh said, sitting down.
"And less likely you'll find a tire." Chloe said, having changed into dry clothes.
"Hey, I got something." Serena said, her line going crazy.
"Well pull it in!" Goh exclaimed.
"CORPHISH!" Corphish yelped, flying out of the water, pebbles dropping from its pincers.
"Corphish?" The trio said in a confused unison.
"Corphish! Cor!" Corphish angrily said, snapping the line.
"Kookee kookee." Kingler called, walking out of the pond.
"What is going on today?" Chloe said confused, as Ash's pokemon headed back towards Vermillion.
Back at the lab
"The rocks look great, thanks guys." Ash said. "Now for these."
On cue, Charizard placed the bags of soil and fertilizer, as well as the bridge.
"Scraggy, take care, but make sure the bridge is firmly planted. Pikachu can you help him out?" Ash asked.
"Scraggy!" Scraggy saluted.
"Pika!" Pikachu said happily as the two went to work.
Ash decided to get to work on prepping the ground for the flower, and hopefully more like it.
North of Cerulean
"What was I thinking, we should've started here, by a water gym, and a nice river." Goh said, sitting down.
"Plus I checked, all of Ash's Pokémon that can swim are at the lab." Chloe said.
"Knowing Ash, I doubt it." Serena said, trying to find a comfy spot.
"What do you think Torkoal is just going to learn to swim out of nowhere?" Goh laughed.
As soon as he had finished saying that, large amounts of bubbles began rising to the surface of the river.
"You just had to say it." Chloe said deadpanned.
"Tor-koal." Torkoal huffed, climbing onto the riverbank.
"How?" Serena said, so confused.
"And what's that on its back?" Goh asked, looking at the pinkish orb.
"Hey Torkoal, what are you doing out here." Chloe said.
"Torkoal?" Torkoal said turning his head. "Torkoal." With that Torkoal began making his way back in the direction of Vermillion.
"Okay, I'm done fishing." Goh said giving up. "We just found a Torkoal in a river, holding a pearl. Nothing makes any sense anymore."
Back at the lab
"Okay Lucario, let's try this." Ash said focusing his aura powers.
The trainer and Pokémon gently touched the ground, as their auras sprang to life, illuminating the garden. The flower began blooming in the prepared area, as the water flowed green, before returning to its normal color.
"Let's see how we did." Ash said, walking across the bridge, and then sitting on the large stone Dragonite had found. Pebbles Corphish and Kingler had gathered lined the bottom of the pond, and the area had been brought to life with the help of Lucario. This wasn't just his work, it was his Pokémon's as well.
"Ash! Are you out here?" Chloe yelled.
"Apparently this will have to wait." Ash said standing up.
"There you are!" Serena scolded.
"Nice to see you guys too." Ash said.
"What's going on first Dragonite in the ocean, then Corphish and Kingler in a lake, then Torkoal was in a river past Cerulean! How Can Torkoal even swim!" Goh asked confused.
"He can't, I'm more curious why you think it was my Torkoal." Ash said.
"Torkoal." Torkoal said happily approaching Ash.
"Hey buddy, where'd you get this?" Ash said, seeing the pearl.
"Cerulean." the other three responded.
"What is this?" Serena asked, changing the subject to Ash's project.
"I'm hoping it will be an Aura Garden." Ash said. "So we don't have issues with me using up everything I have as much any more."
"This was what you've been working on all day?" Goh realized.
"You could've asked for our help." Chloe said.
"I wanted it to be special, something me and my Pokémon built as a team." Ash said.
"That's why they were all out and about." Goh realized.
"That doesn't explain Torkoal though." Serena pointed out.
"Yeah, I've got nothing on why Torkoal was out there." Ash said. "I guess he just wanted to do something, feel like he was involved."
'Ding'
"And that means my first project of the day has finished." Ash said. "Come on, this one's good."
In the lab the globe showed ten different locations highlighted.
"So these are the places Regirock might be?" Goh asked.
"Not just any Regirock, the Regirock to your Registeel, and Chloe's Regice." Ash said.
'He isn't in spot 7, I can assure that.' Regice said in Chloe's head.
"Regice said he's not in spot 7." Chloe repeated to the group.
"Let's see, spot 7 is here. Yeah I guess we'd know if Regirock was in our own backyard." Ash laughed. Taking that marker off the map.
"So then, I guess your first stop will be location one, I'll get tickets." Professor Cerise said.
