We have come a long way, I appreciate all who stuck with me and the story. This chapter has a reference or two to the Lion Guard episode, Battle for the Pridelands.
Here's chapter sixty-four.
Enjoy!
It was a calm cool bit late in the afternoon when the blending families of Jesús and Sherise were on a walk. To a purple blossom field that was now in bloom with the new season.
It was also Princess Sherise's favorite field. Her mate as well, but he'll never tell anyone but his beautiful mate. To Jesús, the blossoms reminded him of his mate's enchanting purple eyes.
As for the stroll, it wasn't just a family bonding moment.. but also a talk about the future.
After stopping by a creek, near the field to also let Sherise rest. The conversation started.
"As you may heard... Sherise and I are expecting." Jesús smiled lovingly at the dark brown lioness lying besides him before moving his dark brown eyes on their blended children, even though one was actually Sherise's.
Asier frowned, his dark brown rimmed ears flat against his head. Which now had a a bit longer dark brown tuff. He knew it wasn't his mother's choice to have him. That his mother didn't have any choice in the matter.
Now that she found a mate by her choice and having his cubs by choice.. why want a constant reminder of the pain she endured around.
"Asier,"
The light brown cub looked up into his mother's purple eyes. "Yes mom?"
"Are you okay, little man? You seem like you just was told everyone you loved died." Josh spoke up to laugh nervously when Sherise growled at him.
"No!" when everyone turned their attention to him. He was fearful for a moment before lowering his head. "What will happens to me now?"
Sherise was beyond confused before it dawned on her how much her son was feeling like a burden. At one time, so did she when Simba and Nala adopted her into the Royal family.
The dark brown lioness pulled her son close and nuzzled him. "I'll love you always, no matter what."
Josh even approached, wary of the nasty glare he was receiving from his friend and now step-mother, said his words.. carefully. "You can train with me, Joyce and Sebastian for the royal guard. There's never enough spots there."
"Really?" Asier asked with a new sparkle in his dark purple eyes.
"Of course!" Jesús smiled, petting the dark brown tuff on his step-son's head. "You'll be the finest warrior in no time."
Sherise felt like her son wasn't completely convinced. She looked from Asier to the sky and noticed then that the sun had started to set. The stars were beginning to show, and as she looked to them for a moment, she closed her eyes.
"I want to share with you something my father once told me and your Auntie Kiara. All the great kings of the past are up there..."
"Sherise, what about the queens?" Josh and Joyce's pale cream son, Sebastian asked.
Sherise smiled brightly at the dark green eye cub. "The queens are up there, too. They're watching over us, and they'll be here for us when we feel lost. They're there to guide us."
Asier looked up at the sky now. The multiple colors of the dusk were quickly changing to dark blue as the stars shone brightly, while the moon began to dominate the night sky. He watched as the tiny dots of light twinkled against the night sky. He wondered if the great kings and queens of the past are watching over him right at that very moment.
...
It was a late in the morning when Jesús and Sherise's family returned to priderock after camping out under the twinkling stars.
As they were getting closer to priderock a old blue hornbill and a young light purple hornbill flew in front Sherise and bowed.
"Your grace," Zazu greeted with the light purple hornbill following.
Sherise raised a eye brow. "Morning Zazu. Who's the tail?"
Zazu looked at the other bird with proudness before looking back at the Duchess. "My daughter, Zara. She's been learning to routines and the Pridelands laws."
"My lady, Duchess Sherise." Zara spoke up with complete excitement in her voice that matches the excitement in her dark green eyes. "The queen wishes to see you back at priderock. There are some guests that are dying to speak with you."
Sherise was confused but thanked the father and daughter before continuing her journey with her family to priderock.
Once the kopje got in sight she saw that Kiara and Kovu were already there with Simba and Nala. Across from them were a goldish-yellow, reddish mane lion. Besides him was a brownish lioness and a dark brown, darker brown mane lion.
When the goldish-yellow male turned his head and looked at her, she saw a scar across the lion's eye that was similar to Jesús who received his scar from Luis.
Her purple eyes met his light brown ones before a huge smile formed. "Kion!"
Kion grinned before rushing over and embracing his big sister. "Kings.. I missed you."
Sherise rubbed her head against Kion's. "So did I."
They broke apart smiling at one another. Kion couldn't believe his eyes.
"I came back when I heard Zira was attacking and heard how you went missing. A lot were saying you were dead."
Sherise smiled before giving her little brother a affectionate head bump. "I would of been if it wasn't for my mate or Kopa."
Kion frowned. "Kopa is alive?" he shook his head. "I remember... before the battle with Scar and his Outsiders dad and mom telling us about Kopa. But he's alive too?"
Sherise nodded before looking around and frowned when she noticed Kopa wasn't there before turning back to Kion. "Kopa is still adjusting to life back home. Only that he has a land of his own to lead... reason why Kiara is queen and most likely why he's not here."
Sarabi spoke up from some of the gathered of family. "He's at the border with Dae and Asteria getting news on Ndona."
Sherise smiled at the dark beige lioness before turning back to Kion and noticed how the brownish lioness stuck close to her brother. "You must be Queen Rani, I heard so much about. It's a pleasure to me you."
Rani bowed, lowering her body to the ground. Where Sherise noticed a scar along her foreleg. "It's a pleasure, Duchess Sherise."
Sherise shook her head, smiling at the younger female. "We're family. Just Sherise will do," the dark brown lioness looked at Rani's leg again before looking up. "I hope you don't mind me asking, how you receive that scar? It looks nasty."
Rani frowned, her ears pinned back as tears began to form. "I got it in a attack that killed my parents when I was a cub. Some strange tan furred lioness...I believed. I tried to help but it was useless. I got nabbed by one of her claws when she hit me."
There were gasps before Kiara spoke up. "How about you come in and rest. I'll send a hunting party out."
Rani smiled at the gold queen before following Kiara up priderock.

Two Months Later
Asteria landed on her back with a hard thud. Her grey eyes closed as she winced. She opened her eyes after feeling the weight that pinned her leave. A small chuckle reached her ears.
"I didn't hurt you, did I Asteria?" Kopa asked the young lioness with concern in his green eyes.
The creamy beige lioness shook her head before standing up. "But I hate to be your enemy. I truly feel sorry for them or to be them."
The tawny, dark brown mane lion laughed which made Asteria smile. She was a few seasons younger than the tawny lion but that didn't stop her from racing whenever Kopa is around.
Asteria shook her head before turning to the tawny lion.
"If it's okay...I um would like to get some water?"
Kopa's bright green eyes glistened as he smirked. "Are you telling me or asking me?"
Asteria pinned her ears and blushed. As Kion walked over shaking his head. During the two months since Kion has been in the Pridelands, he and Kopa has spent a lot of time together.
Sparing was something that both brothers were used to. And that's how they bonded.
"Stop tormenting the girl."
Kopa laughed before looking at Asteria and smiled. "Go ahead. I'll catch up. I'm parched myself."
Asteria nodded before walking off towards the nearest water hole. Kopa shook his head with a small laugh before looking at his brother who laughed himself.
"I think she likes you bro."
Kopa playfully swung at his brother who ducked and laughed. The tawny lion shook his head. "You're such a cub." before a new look formed. "How do you feel about becoming a dad?"
Kion quickly remembered the announcement his mate made a few weeks ago. He was nervous but excited.
The goldish-yellow lion went to express his thoughts to his brother when a loud roar echoed through the Pridelands.
Kopa and Kion shared a look before rushing towards priderock where the roar came from. Once up the slope, they noticed that Jesús was pacing. They put the sight in front of them and hearing the painful roars together and realised that Sherise was in labor.
Asier sat with his dark beige great-grandma with worry and concern in his dark purple eyes. "Is my mom going to be okay?"
Sarabi smiled at her great-grandson and nuzzled him to reassure the light brown cub. "I'm sure your mother will be fine, dear."
Asier looked away from the dark beige lioness to the cave that held his mother. He was anxious about being a big brother but also worried about his mother. He loves his mother dearly and wanted no harm to come to her.
Off by the rock that Kovu slept by so long ago was Felisa sitting by her mother and younger half-sister with a scrowl.
"What's the big idea? Its not like I'm in there."
The creamy brown lioness wasn't like her sister, Eshani. She and their brother, Minos were children of Scar and believed that they deserve to rule. Not the imposter of their father's grandson and his murderer's daughter.
That's why they with their mother and Gwen, their father's loyal follower have come up with a plan to seize the Pridelands in Scar's name.
Luis sat with his mate and cubs who were growing fast. But that was least of his problems, he couldn't get over the fact that a lioness he still very much have feelings for is baring his brother's cubs.
The light cream lion wanted to pace along with his pathetic brother but didn't want to rise suspicion especially from his mate who he did love but he couldn't help that he wanted Sherise as well.
Jesús was extremely worried. Of course she done this before and is of age to birth cubs. But giving birth is dangerous in it's safe.
The reddish-brown lion was knocked out of his thoughts when Jacqueline and Kiara walked out.
"Is Sherise alright?"
Kiara giggled before smiling, "She wishes to see you."
Jesús smiled back and started to walk in when Luis quickly walked by.
"Wait, wait, wait. What the hell do you think you're doing!"
"I'm seeing my friend!" 'The lioness I want!' is what the light cream lion wanted to shout but his mate and cubs' eyes were on him.
Jesús growled seeing past his brother's bull, "This is my mate! So you stand back until I'm done!"
The brothers roared at each other until Kiara jumped in between glaring at one of the highest ranked guards. "You have to wait like the rest of us." with a softer expression Kiara smiled at the reddish-brown lion. "Why not take Asier? I'm sure he's dying to see his mother."
Jesús smiled at the gold queen before looking for the light brown cub. "Come Asier. Let's meet your new sibling."
Luis backed up and growled lowly as his brother and his step-son walked in the cave.
Lying on a grass bed that Jesús made himself was a tired and exhusted Sherise. In her paws were two bundles of mewing fur.
Sherise looked up and smiled at her mate and son. "Jesús, Asier.. meet Zeus and Dimitri."
"Those are cool names!" Asier smiled nuzzling against his mother before running out the cave. "I'm going to tell grandpa and grandma!"
Jesús and Sherise laughed before Jesús nuzzled his mate, "I love it. They're perfect.. like you."
Jesús looked down at his sons and nuzzled the their heads. The cubs mewed as they opened their eyes at their father's touch to revealed dark brown brown orbs.
"They have my eyes!"
Sherise smiled at the love Jesús was showing their sons. Jesús nuzzled Sherise before giving the dark brown lioness' head a affectionate lick before he sat next to his mate as she yawned. Jesús nuzzled her and licked her nose.
"Sleep my beloved. I'll be here, always and forever."
Sherise smiled before lying her head down and closing her eyes before whispering..
'Always and Forever'
