Chapter 64
In-fighting
Natsu
I threw a flaming fist at Gray. He slammed me with ice. Happy stood off to the side cheering me on.
"You got us lost!" I yelled at the ice make mage.
"You're the one who lost her scent!" Gray shouted back.
We butted heads once again. We were trying to track down Angel, but her scent was really faint to begin with. She was last seen in the river, so the water made it harder to smell her out. Then, for some reason, I let Gray take the lead! That was the last time I let a blind dog lead me. We ended up getting into a fight a few minutes ago, around that time the whole world turned purple. We noticed the purple magic shot out of the ground somewhere far away, but I wasn't paying too much attention to it, I was too busy punching Gray in the face.
"Ice Princess!"
"Flame Wench!"
We were just about ready to go another round when the sky lit up. Off in the distance, we saw a huge golden meteor descending onto the ground. I recognized that from the Tower of Heaven. It was Heavenly Body Magic.
"That's." I began.
"Siegrain." Gray concluded.
I took off running in the direction of the attack. They must be in danger if Siegrain was using that! Gray and Happy were trailing behind me. It seemed strange to me that it hasn't detonated yet.
That's when the meteor shot straight up into the sky and blew up. All three of us stopped in our tracks.
"Wh-what?"
"Was that just…reflected back into the sky?"
"Who could be strong enough to do something like that?" Happy asked.
"Gray!"
Suddenly, a blue blur shot out from the tree line and tackled Gray for safety. Upon closer inspection, it was Juvia who was latching onto my teammate.
"What is going on here!?" I yelled.
"H-help!" Juvia panted, "S-sol and…and Aria…"
I picked up their scents immediately, and the spell being sent straight at Gray and Juvia. With a blast of magic, I rocketed at them and pushed them out of the way. A giant boulder shot past us and entering into view was Juvia's teammates.
"Oh, running to Fairy Tail, Mademoiselle?"
"How sad, such a betrayal!"
"Hey, we're allies here!" Gray shouted back.
"Oh, Phantom Lord and Fairy Tail are not allies!" Sol shot back, before trying to pelt us with rocks.
Gray used his ice make to erect a shield between us. The rocks hit the shield and put noticeable, sizeable cracks in it. Suddenly, I smelled Aria behind us. I whipped around and punched the man with my magic without a second thought.
"Hey Juvia, care to explain?" Gray asked.
"Juvia doesn't know! We were fighting Grimoire Heart, and then the purple magic appeared, and then Sol and Aria turned on Totomaru and Juvia!"
"Wait, Grimoire Heart's here?" I dodged out of the way of another a palm strike from Aria and aimed for a counterattack of my own. The flames wrapped around my fist disappeared though, taking away a lot of the strength behind my strike.
"They left once Sol and Aria turned on us." Juvia replied.
Gray and Juvia were sticking together trying to take down Sol.
"What happened to Totomaru?" Gray asked.
"Sol and Aria were after Juvia." She explained, "Totomaru said he would hold them off for Juvia to escape."
"Looks like he did a great job of that!" I lit my fist on fire once more, "Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!"
To my annoyance, the spell disappeared.
"How sad, your attacks won't work on me!" Aria said, "Zetsu!"
My body wracked with pain as explosions occurred all around me. It was like the air itself was blowing up or something.
"Natsu, Aria uses Airspace Magic, he can drain your magic from you!" Juvia warned, "That's why your spells aren't working!"
I looked over to them and was about to suggest we switch opponents, but Gray and Juvia were busy trying to take down…SEVERAL clones of Sol. I could tell they were made of stone, only one of them smelled like a human. I couldn't help though because Aria renewed his assault with "Zetsu".
Finally, Happy got moving and flew to my side. He latched onto my back and sped me towards Aria. This time definitely, I was gonna knock him out!
"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" I felt the magic in my attack begin to drain away. Then, the fire grew stronger and more violent. I slammed my fist into Aria's face and knocked him to the ground.
"Now, let's just hope he stays down." Came the voice of Totomaru.
Totomaru was standing against a tree with his hand outstretched. His magic was still flowing through my fist. I was about to help Gray and Juvia, but at that moment, they used a combination attack of water and ice to take out Sol and all his clones at once.
"Heh, that was easy!" I exclaimed, before punching myself.
"Had it not been for Juvia and I, you would have lost." Totomaru informed me.
"You don't need to attack me!"
"What was that about anyways?" Gray asked.
"I think it was that purple magic." Totomaru explained, "I have no idea what it did, but they didn't start acting odd until after that happened."
"They were calling Juvia a traitor to Phantom Lord, but Juvia would never betray Phantom Lord!"
"I know," Totomaru assured her, "And frankly I never saw it as that big a deal. Especially with you. I'd be more worried about Gajeel going rogue than you."
"By the way, what happened to you?" Gray asked, "Juvia said you were trying to hold them off."
Totomaru took a deep breath, "Merci Le Vie."
Juvia became distraught at hearing those words, "Are you okay?"
He gave Juvia a comforting smile, "I've been training. It was nothing I couldn't handle."
Juvia seemed to know what he was talking about, but I had no idea what Merci Le Vie was. I'm sure Gray and Happy had no clue either.
"What's that?"
"Sorry Salamander, but I won't be revealing my teammates skills."
I crossed my arms in frustration.
"Anyways, you said Grimoire Heart was here?" I asked.
Totomaru nodded his head. He wore a grim expression as he replied, "They aren't the same members as the ones we fought on Galuna. These were adults. They claim to be stronger than the ones we fought but…I'm afraid I didn't get a good read on their skills."
Totomaru went on to give a description of Rustyrose and Kain. Juvia stayed close to Gray the whole time. I casted a teasing smile Gray's way, not that he noticed. She was totally into him. I also noticed Juvia wasn't focused on any of us though. She was eyeing her unconscious teammates.
Gray must have noticed this as well because he went on to say, once Totomaru finished describing Grimoire Heart, "We should probably restrain them. In case they wake up and attack."
"Juvia thinks that would be best."
"I hate to admit it, but I think you're right."
Gray got to work making ice hand cuffs. They were eerily similar to the kind that my sister wore. I guess he was going for something more difficult to break out of, but it wasn't easy for me to watch them being put on.
"So, what do we do with them now?" I asked.
"It wouldn't be safe to continue travelling with them. If they wake up, there's a chance they'll attack you three and Juvia. They didn't seem focused on me much at all, so maybe I should try and transport them back to the mansion."
"You could also check on Siegrain and the others." Gray reminded him.
"Right, that was his spell…"
"Ice Make: Wagon!" A wagon made of ice materialized out of thin air. We loaded the two Phantom Lord Mages onto it and said our goodbyes to Totomaru. It wasn't going to be easy lugging those two back, but the wagon should make things a little bit easier for him. He was right, it was too dangerous for us to go on with them.
"Juvia," Totomaru called to her, "Be careful."
"You be careful too."
With that, Totomaru began pulling the cart in the direction that I assume the mansion was in.
"So…where did that purple magic come from?"
Gray thought for a moment before telling us, "That direction."
I immediately didn't believe him. I wasn't going to fall for the same trick twice. Fortunately, Juvia pointed out to him that the magic erupted from a different direction. Gray got a bit embarrassed but Juvia tried to comfort him, telling him it was an honest mistake. It wasn't. He's embarrassingly bad with directions.
Happy flew up to me and whispered in my ear, "She liiiiiiiikes him."
I chuckled, "Oh yeah."
