Jacob PoV

I dreamed.

In my dream I was standing on a large plain covered in snow. I was in my wolf form and waiting for something. Turning my head a little to the right I saw the rest of the pack, all phased, bodies rigid, fangs bared, snarling towards something in the woods before us. On my other side were the vampires, looking as deadly as any of the wolves.

I followed their eyes and saw something emerging from the trees.

Vampires.

Bloodsuckers.

A whole army of undead, bloodstained young bloodsuckers, screaming and half crazy with bloodlust. I barked angrily at them and began to run, following Sam and the wolves and the vampires, running into battle.

After this, I didn't think, I just acted. Tearing, snarling, biting, fighting. The battle seemed to go on forever. Now and then I could see a familiar face turning up, fighting with grim determination but they all soon disappeared.

After a while a thought rose up in me...Where is she? Is she holding back, letting her minions do the dirty work for her?

I ripped off the head of one dark-skinned vampire girl and for a moment I had the chance to look around. Everywhere I looked there was battle. Alice and the other dark haired vampire woman were fighting a dark-skinned vampire with dreadlocks and Emmet crushed a brunette girl on the ground. On my other side Jared and Seth fought three vampires at once, their mouths already dripping with vampire blood...

But no sign of the red-haired bitch.

Suddenly a dark feeling, like something awful was happening right now tore at my heart. Instinctively I looked back to the spot where we had left Bella. Leah was supposed to be at her side, guarding her but the slim wolf was nowhere to be seen. What I could see was a flash of red, reaching and then holding something up...

My body realised what I saw before my mind did and I was already running at full speed when what I was seeing came through to me. I tore at every bloodsucker that dared to stand in my way, ripping off limbs and tearing terrible wounds. But my eyes were never leaving the spot where the red-haired bloodsucker held up her price, grinning diabolical as she looked at Bella. Bella, who was not moving...

I awoke with a gasp. My heart beat fast and my mind was racing. The images from my dream faded away very slowly. I could still hear the cries of the battle, could still smell the blood and death, could still see...

Something moved against me, something small and warm. Still trapped in my nightmare I looked down slowly. Brown, messy hair, a thin, pale body, a face relaxed in sleep...

Immediately everything came up again and the images of my nightmare vanished into thin air. I saw her lying under me, eyes closed, a small smile on her lips. I felt her breathing accelerating when I touched her with my hands and my mouth. I heard her moans as I had entered her and started to move.

I had been so afraid, afraid that I would hurt her, that she wouldn't like it, that she would regret it but she didn't. Judging by the moans and the sighs she had liked it very much.

Maybe nearly as much as I did but that wasn't very likely. I had fought so hard to keep my wolf at bay who wanted to claim her so badly. I wanted to do it slow, let her get used to it before it truly began. My wolf had growled in disappointment but then she had started to moan and smile and say "I love you" and looked at me and I knew I must be in heaven.

For so many a night I had lied in my small, old bed and imagined how it would feel to be so close to her but my dreams hadn't even come close to what I felt at this moment. It had been over much too soon but the feeling of her around me, the way she looked at me and breathed my name had been too much.

And there would be plenty of other times, I thought to myself.

Afterwards a sense of calmness came over me, a sense of home.

Home, for me, wasn't a place. Home for me was Bella, my Bella lying in my arms, her body close to mine, sleeping peacefully.

It wasn't day yet, the dawn had just begun to arrive. Pale, grey light shone through her window where the curtains weren't fully drawn. I hoped she would sleep some more. I liked the peace that surrounded us, this magic bubble which would have to burst far too soon.

But for now there was only her and me and this bed and nothing else.

Her body felt good, right, next to mine. It was covered by a fine layer of sweat and warmed up by sleep and by me.

All of a sudden, her phone on nightstand began to vibrate. Alarmed I looked at Bella, but she must have been so exhausted that she continued to sleep right through it. I reached out as best as I could and somehow managed to grab the device from the nightstand.

When I looked on the screen it read Alice. With a gloomy feeling I pressed Answer

"Hello?" I spoke as quietly as I could, careful not to wake Bella.

"Jacob? Is that you?" Alice' voice sounded bright and clear through the receiver.

"Yes. Bella's asleep. Are there any news?"

"Yes. Tell Sam, we have news and we must meet immediately. Maybe at the clearing where we were the other night."

I nodded even though Alice couldn't see that. "Alright, I'll tell him. Meet us there in two hours."

"We will. Till then, be safe and do nothing I wouldn't do too." Alice laughed and disconnected the line.

I carefully put down the phone back on the nightstand before I lay back in Bella's bed. I pulled her as close to me as I could and buried my face in her brown hair, breathing in her unique scent.

"Ja...cob?" murmured Bella, half sleep.

"Mhm..." I sighed, not letting her move a single inch.

"What's wrong? Who was that?"

My grip around her body tightened. My wolf growled. He was in full protection mode right now and for once I agreed with him.

"Jake, careful, you're crushing me." Bella protested and I loosened my arms. Just a little.

"It was Alice, wasn't it?" Bella whispered and I nodded. "She saw something." Again a nod from my side. "When?"

"She didn't say. We'll meet them in two hours."
