"Castle, what the hell did you do?" his wife's voice makes him straighten his back immediately.

"Wha-nothing!" Rick Castle immediately says and sees his wife, Kate Beckett, come into his office with determined steps.

"There's evidence! There's no need to deny it," she states and he looks at her confused. "What were you thinking?"

"I don-what are you talking about?"

She gives him a look before she takes up her phone and shows the picture he took of their daughter the day before when she was out for a run.

"Oh, that one," he says with a smile sneaking onto his lips. "Isn't she adorable?"

He can see a smirk try to break free as she's trying to hold it back and not let it show.

"It's not funny," she said and he starts laughing.

"I didn't say; funny," he says. "I said; adorable."

His wife shakes her head again and walks closer to the desk and as soon as she's within reach he's grabbing her hand and pulling her onto his lap. Without much more encouragement she's wrapping her arms around his shoulders.

"How did you even manage to pose her without waking her up?" she asks, tilting her head a little bit.

"Just used my charm on her," he smirks and she rolls her eyes but now the smile's breaking out.

"Uh-huh."

He lets his nose caress her cheek and she scrunches up her neck at the tickles from his breaths. "She was fast asleep and so I just took a chance, she almost woke up a couple of times but I just started singing that lullaby you usually sing. Works like a charm."

She chuckles at that and he pouts his lips in order to kiss her neck, feeling her body shiver at that.

"I love it," she admits as she holds up the picture again so that the both of them can inspect it. "You're right, she's kinda adorable."

He smiles as he looks between the photo and his wife. "It's the perfect shot, right?"

She turns to him and he sees her amusement in her hazel eyes. He feels her adjust herself on his lap and soon enough her fingers are in his hair, massaging his scalp, and it feels just amazing.

"Hmm, it's okay I guess," she eventually says and he groans only to hear her laugh. "How long do you think we have before she's waking up this time?"

"Not that long, why?" he asks and she bites her lip.

"I was thinking about taking a bath, but I guess I can settle for a shower," she shrugs her shoulders. "You wanna join me?"

Now it's his time to smirk. "Absolutely."

She stands up and takes a hold of his hand to pull him up with her. "Let's go then." And the two parents hurry their way into the shower before their daughter will wake up from her nap.
