Chapter 64- The Fight
"Do you have to go to church, Grandma?" Skye asked as she ate breakfast with Myrtle the next morning.
"Yes, I'm picking up your Uncle Stuart in an hour," Myrtle said.
"But I thought we could play with your Whac-A-Mole or something. Spend the day together."
"Well, you could come to church with us."
Skye crinkled her nose.
"Or spend time with your mom," Myrtle suggested. "Make her some soup because she's sick in bed."
Skye frowned and mumbled, "She's probably too focused on the new baby to spend time with me…"
Myrtle raised an eyebrow. "New baby?"
"Oh, come on, like you haven't noticed the signs."
"I thought she just had the stomach flu."
Skye rolled her eyes. "Well, you're wrong. She's pregnant and will get to raise this baby from day one."
Myrtle's mouth dropped slightly.
They turned when they heard Rae walk into the kitchen carrying a hamper of dirty clothes, her hair messy and still in her nightgown.
"Oh, darling…" Myrtle moved over to her quickly and reached for the basket. "You shouldn't be carrying that."
Skye stared at her oatmeal.
"Oh, I'm feeling okay this morning though… uncomfortable still, but okay," Rae said. "You shouldn't be carrying it Mama."
"Oh, nonsense," Myrtle said and took it from her. "You shouldn't be doing any lifting."
"It's just a few towels. I threw up on the floor this morning. Only way to get it out, I've been constipated for days."
Skye pouted and let out a huge huff. "Should I paint my room blue or leave it pink? How long before I should move out?"
Rae scrunched her face. "What?"
"Skye just told me the news," Myrtle said and turned to Skye. "But there's no need to be jealous, dear."
"What news?" Rae asked.
Skye groaned. "You're replacing me, that's what."
"No one's replacing anyone," Myrtle said. "We know that you're pregnant, Rae."
Rae laughed a little. "I'm not pregnant. I went through menopause a few years ago. Besides, John and I… haven't… since Skye came to live here."
A huge smiled plastered across Skye's face and she jumped up and hugged her. "This is fantastic news! I'm so happy for you, Mom, that you can't have any more children. We should go out and celebrate!"
"Wait," Myrtle said. "If you're not pregnant, why do you keep vomiting and why haven't you had a bowel movement for days?"
Rae sighed. "I'm sure it's just the flu."
"You know what, Mom?" Skye patted her shoulder. "Maybe you should rest today, and we'll go out to celebrate tomorrow."
Myrtle stared at Skye, and said sarcastically, "How kind of you."

AJ told Skye and Kendall to meet him at an empty building in downtown Pine Valley. Skye called Jax to tell him to join them and they met up at 3pm.
"What do you think?" AJ asked after he gave them the tour.
Skye scratched her chin. "It's kind of empty."
"And old," Kendall added.
"That's because we haven't set anything up yet," AJ said. "We'll need desks and laptops."
"I think it looks great," Jax said. "I can work on a logo for the company."
"We need a name first," Skye said. "Then we should also get a website and social media going."
"That's why I asked someone else to help us," Kendall said.
"Who?"
They heard the door open, and a tall, dark haired man walked in. "Hey, Kendall. Sorry I'm late."
Kendall walked over to him and squeezed his bicep. "I'd like to introduce you to Ryan Lavery. Founder and CEO of incredible dreams dot com. He's going to help us with our website."
"But we still can't do any of that without a name," Skye repeated. "We also need a colour theme."
"Well, pink of course," Kendall said. "It needs to attract women and girls, mostly. As for a name, something better than Enchantment."
"How about Fusion?" Ryan suggestion. "Since we're all bringing something different to this."
"Fusion…" Kendall and Skye said in unison.
"I like it," Kendall said. "Erica is in for it."
"And Daddy will be full of regret," Skye added.
"I think you need to hire some more women though," Jax said. "It'll look good for the image."
"Do you have any other girlfriends, Skye?" AJ asked.
Skye scrunched her face. "No. "I can't stand most women."
"What about you, Kendall?" Jax asked.
Kendall scoffed. "Is this a trick question?"
"We could ask Greenlee Smythe," Ryan suggested. "Erica just fired her, so I'm sure she'll want to join in on your revenge against Erica. Plus, she has cosmetics experience."
"As long as she doesn't try to take over," Skye said.
"We could put an ad out," AJ said.
"But I don't want Erica to know yet!" Kendall spoke up.
"We don't have to include your name in the ad," Jax said. "Or the Fusion name."
After a few hours, Jax was on his way out, but Kendall squeezed his arm and looked over at AJ, but back to Jax. "You had some pretty great ideas today."
Jax grinned. "Thanks."
"Are you free for dinner tomorrow night?" Kendall asked.
Skye scoffed and AJ raised an eyebrow as they listened in.
Jax paused for a moment, then nodded. "Dinner sounds great. When can I pick you up?"
"Six?"
"Six sounds great," Jax said. "I'll take you to the Yacht Club."
AJ walked out of the room in a huff.
Jax said goodbye to them and headed out.
Kendall walked over to the small table and lifted some logo samples Jax worked on that afternoon.
Skye stomped over to her and grabbed her arm yanking her around to face her. "What do you think you're doing!?"
"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm going through these logos and taking them home—"
"You knew perfectly well that I'm interested in Jax."
Kendall sighed. "You said you were just friends."
"For now! It was leading to more."
Kendall whispered. "Look, I'm just doing this to make someone jealous. It was nothing personal."
"Oh, sure. You think I can't see through your phony friendship?"
Kendall crossed her arms. "Phony!?"
"You're just using me to get back at Erica. Especially since our moms are friends. You're using me to get into her circle."
"Why would I want to get into Erica's circle?" Kendall asked. "You just think everyone is out to get you."
"I just told you at our sleepover that I want more with Jax! And here you turn around and ask him on a date!"
"This isn't about you," Kendall said. "It's one meaningless date to make the guy I really like jealous. And if you can't see that, then you don't know me at all."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah! Now, I'm leaving!" Kendall took the logos and left.
Skye paced back and forth seething. "I know I shouldn't have trusted someone like that. When I finally thought I had a real friend… Who am I kidding? They'll probably end up married and continue Fusion without me. Well, two can play at this game…"
"Are you all right?"
Skye looked up to find Ryan standing there.
"You seem upset," he said.
Skye took a deep breath and straightened out her skirt, then forced a smile. "I'm fine. I just realized someone isn't who I thought they were. But do you have plans tomorrow evening?"
