A/N: since I think that I was grasping at straws on Game of Life, I decided to document the supposed events that can support this pairing.
Chapter 6: My Only Pride: [Part 5]
"I was ordered to retrieve you and the others, back to Seiretie" Byakuya stated matter of fact, as he had completely stopped walking, but without turning back, he added.
"I have fulfilled the orders. It is not my obligation any longer to keep you" he said as he resumed his retreat.
"You may now do as you please" he stated after some time.
At this, Rukia's mind completely shut down.
Overwhelmed by the shear admiration to Byakuya's coolness. Overload.
She would have run to him, and hug him somehow, if it weren't so inappropriate and disrespectful towards the head of the Kuchiki clan.
Her role model.

"Arigatou, Nii-sama" Rukia called out, as she bowed in respect and gratitude.
At those words, Byakuya knew, he had made an outstanding decision.
And his wildly beating heart, finally felt calm.
He had made the right decision.
And that's enough.
He will trust her.
To make her own decisions.
And let her live her life.

that is what love was all about.
Freedom.
Trust.
Respect.
Acknowledgement of the fear of losing the one you love.
And yet, letting them go.
