I do not own RWBY

It said a lot that learning his daughter was exactly the same as Ozpin wasn't the weirdest thing that happened to him. That being the case he couldn't just ignore what she told him. His bloodthirsty little daughter was in so much pain that his blood was boiling. While she might not be the same as before she was reborn, there was no way she could've changed enough to be considered a totally different person. Ruby was a charismatic lovable person although she didn't always use those traits in a good way. Her habit of collecting criminals, yes he did know about that, wasn't one he wanted to support but he wasn't going to make her stop. Ultimately she felt safe around them, that was enough of a reason to let it happen.

In the end, it didn't matter to him what she was planning. Ruby was his daughter, no matter what she chose to do he was going to support her. besides, he didn't really have much of a moral high ground to stand on when he'd been raised to be a killer himself. Raising an eyebrow when she started to wake up, he couldn't help but wonder if she was going to fill him in on her grand plan now. Stretching she tossed both him and the window a glance. Offering him a small smile, one that didn't seem fake, she was happier this morning. He knew what it was like to be buried under his own secrets.

"Morning."

"Apparently," he mumbled. Giving the sunlight a small glare, he sighed. Honestly, he hadn't even noticed time passing until she woke up. He still had no idea how to tell her that Ozpin was under this roof too.

"Were you awake all night," she asked. Standing from the bed, she moved over to the dresser. If she wasn't going to be traveling today then there was no point in wearing her combat clothes.

"It was a lot to process…"

"Well, now you know."

"Not everything."

Holding up a dark red shirt she pretended to study it as she thought over his words. At least he wasn't demanding answers. If their positions were reversed then she doubted staying calm was something she'd be able to do. Then again, he was literally the best father she could've asked for in this lifetime. Switching the red shirt for a lilac tank top she sighed. She'd already trusted him with her reincarnation, letting him in on her plans should be easier.

"Do you want to know everything," she asked almost hoping he'd say no. Tossing the tank top on her bed, she moved on to find a pair of shorts.

"Yes."

"Even if you don't like it?"

"I doubt your truth is any worse than mine," he stated. Tai would've fainted at the jean shorts she tossed at the bed. Grinning slightly at the idea of his brother-in-law having a panic attack he made no move to have her switch them with something more appropriate for her age. If his daughter could slaughter an entire beowolf pack then she could wear whatever she wanted.

"Don't count on it," she said. Letting a pair of light pink leggings join the rest of her clothes she stretched her arms above her head. She knew this was nothing but a stall tactic but it was the only defense she had. At least her chest wasn't being weighed down as easily now. Telling him the truth had helped a lot especially because he still cared about her. Might as well share everything; rubbing the scar on her stomach she frowned before deciding there were still things he didn't need to know about. Grabbing her scroll, she pulled up her files – the plotting files not the ones she'd made for shipping her friends – before sitting on the bed. Time to start from the beginning.

(Oscar)

"Good Morning!"

"Fuck!"

Glancing over at the teen who bounced into the kitchen, Oscar raised an eyebrow from the corner where he waited for his coffee to finish. The voice in his head was terrified of the girl. She didn't look dangerous if anything she looked like a hyper puppy from the way she moved. In fact, she was pretty, very pretty. From the light pink denim jacket to the dark red ankle boots, she looked cute. Very cute for someone that terrified the ghost haunting him. When she dove into Qrow's arms he winced at the rush of memories that he got from the voice. Of course, this was Ruby Rose the girl that the voice betrayed by trying to use her teammate as a sacrificial pawn. Great call too since it didn't work at all; note the sarcasm. Twitching when a hand was shoved in his face he turned his attention fully on the older girl.

"I'm Ruby," she said brightly. Eyeing her hand he wondered if she was going to kill him when he told her that her old headmaster was in his head. He honestly wouldn't mind dying right now.

"Don't tell her I'm here."

"Oscar. I'm being possessed by a very determined ghost," he told her waiting for her to snap at him. The grin on her face faded as if it never existed in the first place. Watching her pull back her hand he closed his eyes. He hoped that she made it quick.

"You fool!"

Staring at the boy who was Ozpin's newest incarnation she frowned. Ozpin was a man that she despised for what he did to Pyrrha, but Oscar wasn't him. For one thing, the boy was adorable, although she didn't know how that argument might hold out against Jaune. Hesitating she recognized the expression on his face all too clearly. It was obvious he expected her to hurt him; she'd worn that same expression all too often in her first life. He couldn't control that Ozpin was in his head nor did he seem happy about that fact.

If she was being honest she wanted to attack him. He should've lied, but he didn't. Taking a deep breath she released the tension in her shoulders. She'd already accepted thieves, murderers, and terrorists what was the point in rejecting a cute kid with a ghost problem. Reaching out slowly she took his hand gently as he flinched. Opening his eyes slowly the boy seemed more likely to jump out the window than anything else. Holding his hand in her own, she offered him a smile that was actually genuine.

"Nice to meet you Oscar."

Letting go of his hand she turned her attention to her dad as he held out a cup of hot chocolate. Mumbling a thank you, she claimed the chair closest to the door. Hiding a yawn behind her hand she tilted her head back when Adam entered the kitchen. Following him with her gaze she noted that he looked good in the light grey t-shirt he wore. It showed off his arms along with the scars that decorated them. He was a survivor, just like her. Taking a sip of her hot chocolate, she hummed softly as Oscar finally took a seat at the opposite end of the table. Adam didn't even care that there was a random child at the table or he wasn't awake enough to notice.

Catching the glance he threw in her direction she offered him a wink. The answering smirk was enough to make her feel better about life while her dad winced a bit. Right even non-verbal flirting wasn't something she needed to do in front of her him; although his reaction was hilarious. She'd already decided to talk to Adam about giving this whole relationship thing a chance. Letting herself be controlled by her fear wasn't something that she was willing to do.

"So what are you kids planning on doing now?"

"I'm heading to Mistral."

The answer came from all three of them although Oscar seemed more annoyed than anything else. Exchanging a glance with Adam she silently asked if he was going to travel with her. When he shook his head slightly she nodded in understanding. It was likely that he didn't want to advertise knowing a human even if that human was going to start taking over the Kingdom. That left Oscar as her traveling companion. Once she arrived however sending word to Cardin so he could bring Ciel and whoever else wanted to tag along was her next priority.

"Well that was telling, traveling together then," her dad asked as he poured a clear liquid that defiantly wasn't water into his coffee. She really hoped that he didn't get drunk before noon today.

"Arriving with a pair of humans wouldn't go well," Adam admitted. In truth, if he arrived with Ruby then he'd never hear the end of it. Just imagining Viper's taunting was enough to make him refuse the idea. Worse was the fact that the others would join in on teasing him just for fun.

"I need to check with Roman and Neo before deciding how best to take the Kingdom," Ruby said. The blunt statement almost caused Oscar to choke on his coffee while Adam chuckled. Glancing at the boy who took a moment to survive his coffee she waited to see if he was going to reject her plan.

"No! If I couldn't take over Kingdoms then she can't either. Oscar tell her no. I order you to stop this insanity before it goes any further."

"Ozpin doesn't like that idea," he admitted. The innocent smile the boy gave did nothing to make any of them believe he wasn't enjoying himself as he said, "I'm all for the idea."

"Oscar… I know your angry but supporting insanity is not the right decision."

The voice in his head had no idea how he felt right now. Frowning he looked down at his coffee with darkening eyes. It wasn't fair that there was a ghost in his head. How was he supposed to make the best of this situation when he had no idea what to truly do? Right now the only thing he could do was anything to spite his resident ghost.

"Great, but you can't be my ally if you look like a farmhand," she stated. Eyeing his clothes with disdain she idly wondered if getting him to wear red and black would be impossible.

"I was a farmhand."

"Was being the keyword," she said while he tried to figure out if he was offended or not by her words.

"You need clothing that projects a feeling of power," Adam cut in. Sipping his tea, that she'd just watched him mix honey into, he seemed far too relaxed this morning. Tilting her head she considered that he might be copying her dad before throwing the idea away. He didn't seem like the type of person to let their judgment get impaired this early in the morning.

"Besides shopping is fun."

"Clothes shopping or weapon shopping," Adam asked ignoring the wince from Oscar. He knew Ruby well enough to realize that she would be more at home hunting for weapons than clothes.

"Weapons. I'll have Ciel deal with his clothing situation."

It would do the girl some good to have a new project to work on. Returning her grin, with an amused smile, he downed the rest of his tea seconds before she finished her hot chocolate. Passing the empty cup to her dad, she slid out of her chair. It might be selfish but she really didn't want to be here when Tai and Raven finally woke up; that was a mess she hated even thinking about. Catching the encouraging glance her dad threw in her direction she raised an eyebrow. Weren't fathers supposed to scare away potential boyfriends? Right, time to take a chance; turning her attention to Adam she hoped that this ended well.

"Want to go exploring." She asked. The attempt was a bit weak, honestly, she didn't really know if even asking was a good idea. The chance that he'd changed his mind in the last few days was something she probably should've considered.

Eyeing her for a moment Adam considered his options. Part of him wanted to jump at the chance, but there was so much work he needed to do before he got to the city. Then again this was supposed to be his vacation, wasn't it? Viper might be more annoyed that he was doing work during his vacation than if he forgot to do paperwork for a while. Honestly, it was the slightly hopeful glint in her eyes that made the decision for him. Nodding, he stood gaining a small smile in return. Laying a hand on the hilt of his sword as she started moving toward the backdoor, he sighed.

"You need to get your weapons," he said. The reminder was the only thing that kept her from rushing from the room.

"Are you implying that you couldn't keep me safe?"

Her words were taunting but lacked the bite that would've offended him. Was this a test then or was she simply too lazy to go upstairs and get her weapons. Shrugging off the slight worry he felt, he blinked when she laughed. The sound caused him to relax although he didn't actually know why. Letting his eyes run over her again, he sighed. He was willing to bet she already had a weapon and only wanted to tease him. As a huntress, the girl wasn't foolish enough to go anywhere without a weapon even if this was a supposedly safe area.

"You don't need me to keep you safe," he stated. Walking past her, the man didn't notice the way she froze for a second at the simple words. Staring after him, she took a deep breath before deciding to throw caution to the wind.

Watching them leave, Oscar tilted his head with mild curiosity. He had a feeling that he'd missed something big there but the voice in his head was too busy trying to deny the fact Ruby might be insane to be of much help. Rolling his eyes, he turned his attention back to Qrow instead of focusing on the girl who might've just adopted him.
