Chapter 65 – New Ideas
Later that night, Ines was sitting on her bed, with her back resting on the headboard, under the covers, with her baby sucking on her right breast, while she was supporting his little head with her left hand, while he was eating. She loved these moments, because it was only her and her little Ben. The time where there was a connection between her and her baby. She loved being a mother, something that she never thought it would happen, even deep inside she always had that feeling about the boy she dreamed it, but she didn't know if it was only a dream or something else. Deep inside she always thought that the girls from Alderaan, were the ones who would married and have kids, not her. But there she was, with a husband she was so in love with, and their baby. Sometimes she wondering where were those girls? She knew some of them were not in Alderaan at the time, because they had left the planet a year before. But she bet they were married with someone important and already have kids. At least that was what they were always kept talking about.
She smiled to Ben, who had his little right hand held tight on her breast while he was eating. She had a lot of milk for him and she was happy for that since the mother's milk was the best meal a baby could have.
An image of herself when she was 18 came into her mind, back in that first Death Star. She was so different back then. So young, so feisty and deep inside without any worries, so to speak.
Luke came from the bathroom, and taking off his robe, he got under the covers and got closer to Ines. Running his left hand on her hair, it revealed her neck that he kissed, making Ines smiled, especially when he kissed her shoulder.
"Luke!" she giggled at him
"I know. But that doesn't mean I can't kiss you, right?" he smiled as he make her face him and kissed her deeply, making Ben making a not happy noise, that make his parents laughed at that.
"Hey young man, I know her first than you" he said kissing his son head
"He is saying don't mess with my meal" Ines laughed.
Luke smiled at that and then remembered what she was thinking
"Why were you thinking of us when we were at that Death Star?"
"I was thinking how different we were back then. I was 18, without even imagine that my life would turn upside down after that. Being part of the rebellion, falling in love for the first time, then having a relationship that turn well, becoming a wife and a mother and knowing that I was force sensitive and become a Jedi"
"What about me? I was a moister farm boy back in Tatooine, dreaming with adventures, of leaving my planet, being in the Academy to become a pilot and now look at me"
"Well your name is legendary, you are an amazing pilot, an awesome Jedi, and the most wonderful husband and father" she smiled making Luke kissed her forehead.
"I want to ask you something? When we were in the garbage mashers, and I disappeared under the water, I remember who were so worried about me by the way you hugged me when I came back. Did you like me already?"
Ines looked at him and remembered how worried she was when she saw him just vanish and started to blush
"Babe are you blushing? You look so cute, because we are married, we have a kid and you blushing because you had a crush on me almost 5 years ago."
"Stop it" she smiled and Luke kissed her cheek.
Looking at her baby, who stopped eating, she sat the baby on her lap and holding his head she started tapping gently his back.
"So you will go next week with Han?"
"Yes, I was there after the meeting with Kino and Davi's parents and we decided we will go next week and probably we will be like a month away"
Ines sighed at that
"1 month without you" she pouted
"I know but I really need many things and I need to find more students." he said looking at her and smiled when their baby burp "Your uncle Han is right, you burp like your mother" making Ines laughed.
Laying Ben between them, until he fell asleep, they stood there looking at their baby boy, when Luke remembered something
"Hey, what did you want to talk about the Academy? You said you had ideas"
"Oh yes. I don't know what you think about this, but the Jedi knew how to fight too, like a hand in hand combat, right?"
Luke nod
"That is right, but I don't know much, because Master Yoda didn't have much time to train me and I don't know what type of training they had because many of the archives were lost. But why babe?"
"Well how about you include some good fight, not only hand to hand but with weapons, like we use in some martial arts."
Luke look at his son thinking what Ines was telling him, and she was right.
"You know babe, yes you are absolutely right. The students need to learn out to fight first, and then handle the lightsaber. Besides they need some history lessons and I know the perfect person for that"
"Really? Who?" she asked.
"I'm looking at her right now" he smiled and stroke her cheeks
Ines looked at him with wide eyes
"Wait? Me? Luke I don't know if I can't teach. I'm not a Master"
"You will be. Babe you are the best fighter I ever know. You can fight since you were little. You taught me out to fight. You know all the techniques and history, you know a lot. Your father fought in the Clone Wars, so you heard the stories."
"I don't want to disappoint you"
"I trust you and while I'm gone, you can take care of the combat and training and class room. I know I will love it when I arrive"
Ines smiled, she actually had some ideas for and she even had an idea but she wanted to be a surprise.
"I already have some ideas. I hope you will like when you arrive."
"I will" he said and looked at their Ben who was already sleeping "Let me put him on his crib" and picking him up and went to his bedroom he putted the baby inside his crib, and looked at R2 "R2 you know what to do. Watched the baby for us"
R2 beeped.
Getting in his bedroom, he got under the covers and pulled Ines on his chest, while he kept playing with her hair, something that he loved to do and Ines also loved it.
"I'm going to miss you. Especially now that I don't have anyone else to talk" she sighed and Luke kissed the top of her head.
"I know babe. But you and Leia will start talking again, don't worry"
"Until then I will be all alone"
"Hey I'm guilty too. I also should have think visit Leia first alone and talk to her and I didn't"
"Yeah but she talks to you like nothing happened and she still looks at me like I'm a monster. Sometimes I feel she wish I would have died in childbirth or something"
"Leia is not that type of person. She is mourning. Just let her mourn the lost of her baby. Give her time. Don't try to go to her to talk, let her make that decision first and go to you instead"
Ines nod and kissed his chest. She would miss sleeping in his arms and Luke would also miss having her around his arms at night.
1 week later:
They were all in the Coruscant ship hangar, getting ready to leave. Ines entered the Millennium Falcon, and a lot of memories came into her mind. Han, Chewie and Luke were getting ready to leave. Leia was there to say goodbye to Han, Chewie and Luke and she didn't even look at her, but what hurt the most was the fact she didn't even look at her nephew. Her 1 month old baby, was the innocent in all of this, and she didn't ask how was he. But Luke was right, she would give her space and not rush things. But she missed her best friend.
Luke entered, being followed by R2 that Luke decided to stay in Coruscant with Ines and Ben.
Luke entered the room, and smiled at her and his son. Walking towards her, he picked his baby and holding Ben in front of him
"Ben, my son, when I'm away, you will be the man of the house, so take care of the most important woman of our lives, okay. Make your father proud" he said.
Then Ben fix his eyes on his father and making a baby noise he smile at Luke, making Ines gasped
"Babe, he smiled. His first smile" she said with tears in her eyes, looking at Luke, who kissed his son forehead.
"Don't make this more difficult then it is already" he said pulling the baby to his chest. His heart melt. He would miss his big boy, that at 1 month was already getting so big.
Giving the baby to his mother, Luke copped Ines face between his hands and kissed her deeply.
"Take care of yourself" Ines told him
"I will. And you too. I will call you every time we reach a system."
"And I will be waiting for those calls."
Han and Chewie entered
"Ready?" Han asked
"Ready" Luke said and looking at Ines he kissed her again
"I love you" she told him
"I love you more" he replied to her
Looking to Han and Chewie, Ines told them
"Take care of you two okay. And see you in a 1 month"
"You too kid" Han answered her and Chewie growled.
Giving Luke a last kiss, Ines left the Falcon with Ben near her chest and being followed by R2.
Stepping outside, she watched the Falcon lift up and leave the Hangar. It would be a long month without one of the love of her live.
Ines will be a teacher at the Academy. But what plans she had for the Academy. And what did you think of Ben first smile at his father. Now Luke will be gone for a month with Han and Chewie.
